Once I explained the symptoms (battery may or may not always charge, etc.) he suggested I do a hardware reset (hold the reset button for 65 seconds using a straightened paper clip). Lucky for me, Google brought Steve's company up and because he had such a good rating, I gave him a call. Steve thought the new motherboard would take a week to order/arrive but it was here in 4 days & he came over the day he got it and got my PC back up and running! His labor was $180 (2 hours/2 trips to my house) & the motherboard was $100. That was a small price to pay for him to be able to save all the work, photos, music, movies I had on my hard drive!
