    Loaded NC shrimp and grits

Great farm to table, local restaurant. We were a group of 6 and it was easy to accommodate with large tables available. Staff were all super friendly and welcoming, answered questions and provided suggestions. Portion size was just right as everyone cleaned their plates. I had the shrimp and grits- just okay as I like mine a bit creamier and a bit more...$24 was a steep price. It is always good to eat local when traveling.

Simple Eats is our new go-to for amazing locally sourced food and a creative cocktail menu that is both authentic and spectacular. This was kind of a rediscovery as it's been a couple years since I was last here. And what a refreshing rediscovery it was. I had some of the most delicious BBQ served with fresh coleslaw and homefries. My wife's Turkey Apple Brie sandwich was the star of the show. The bread was absolutely incredible!!! We topped off the meal with the best banana bread pudding a la mode ever! The only thing better than the food and cocktails is the service. Friendly, efficient and fun! Great breakfast and lunch and open until 8 on Fridays and Saturdays for dinner. We were also told that Saturday and Sunday brunch tends to be crowded, so plan ahead with reservations if possible. (Waiting at the bar for a table isn't a bad option though )

You can not go wrong here. One of our favorite local spots! The coastal-beach y decor is welcoming and the service is like have a meal at your friends house. They are all so very nice. Everything on the menu is delicious just hard to decide so you will just have to return. One time, I thought there was an error on my bill and I send a message after hours on their Facebook page. To my surprise, the owner messaged me back right away and cleared up my misunderstanding! She was so nice and I was impressed with her quick response and customer service.

Everything we had was amazing and so was the service! Sit at the bar if you can and save room for dessert!

Hey Folks this place is a hidden gem... food was good, drinks were sting and service was great- once it got started - we had a party of 20 so they may have been waiting for more of us to get there... but my table was full and we were hungry... but once they got started they were rolling... menu was simple as name suggest - I'm allergic to shell fish so the choices for me were minimal- but apparently the crab cake was good. The place was eclectic- the painted chairs could use a good scrub but other than that nice vibe good ambiance. Photos on the walls may have been for sell but no one mentioned it. Oh parking was terrible go early you will have to wait if you are like me and have bad knees... all in all I would go back for the drinks and atmosphere

My friend and I love Simple Eats! The food was so delicious and the service was attentive and accommodating. Our server, Nicole , made it an exceptional experience! I had the avocado toast with a side of grits and my friend had the crab benedict. We both ordered a mimosa flight which was a fabulous and tasty pairing with our brunch. The walls display the work of local artists that can be purchased. My friend found a lovely wall hanging that she just had to have! She went home with her belly happy and with a new piece of art.

I like their farm to table concept. We arrived around 10am and there were lots of empty tables, we were told we can sit wherever and chose a table in the back. the decor is quite rustic and fascinating. the service was great and the food was tasty. i gave 4 stars because I wanted to try their biscuits which i heard was excellent and they were out of it.

Crabby Patty on brioche, with side of garlic green beans.

Three of us, all adults, visited this restaurant on a Sunday afternoon, around 1:30 pm. We called first to see if there was a wait (there wasn't), and there were a few parking slots open in their back lot. There was a musician performing in the outdoor area, but we decided to eat inside as it would be easier to carry on a conversation. We were seated quickly, and the waitress came by soon after to take our drinks order. Food. (4/5). My husband ordered one of the Brunch Specials, specifically the Gorgonzola Dolce Burger ($20) -- which was served on a brioche bun, with Gorgonzola dolce, smokehouse bacon, lettuce, and tomato. He selected home fries as his side. He also got a local ($7) Coffee Stout beer. I ordered The Schmidty sandwich ($14), which consisted of roasted Turkey breast, smokehouse bacon, a sliver of cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and aioli, served on a French roll. (8 grain bread also available). Sandwiches are served with your choice of home fries, mixed greens, or seasonal vegetable. I, too, chose the home fries. As is our tendency, we split our main entrees, so we each ate half of each burger and sandwich. In both cases, the food tasted fresh, was beautifully presented, and tasted good. We both particularly liked the aioli sauce, which we ended up putting on both the burger and the Turkey sandwich! We dropped our ratings down to '4' because the burger and home fries were both over-salted, and the Turkey was somewhat dry. Our friend (a Virginia Beach local) ordered a Crabby Patty, sandwich ($18), which was made from Chesapeake Bay crab, lettuce, tomato, and aioli on a brioche bun, accompanied by (purple cabbage) apple slaw and a wedge of lemon. She selected garlic green beans as her side dish. She also rated the dish as a '4', noting that it tasted good but that the crab patty was quite small. We also ordered a slice of apple pie ala mode to go, which we haven't tasted yet. (We really only wanted the pie but accepted the ice cream too as it would be the same price with or without the ice cream). Ambiance. (5/5). This is a welcoming restaurant with both inside and outdoor seating. The inside has an eclectic assortment of things going on -- but it works. Mismatched chairs, overhead lights with dangling seashells, Halloween decorations (pumpkins, witches hats), blackboards with drinks and dessert offerings (which we didn't notice until after we had placed our order), and more. Service (4/5). Efficient, and friendly, but nothing that would push it into the exceptional category. We would visit this restaurant again.

I already knew this was my destination as I had been following them since they opened in VB. Upon our arrival we found the Cafe about a 1/4th of the way full so I had hopes for breakfast in a quiet setting. Even though there was a steady flow of traffic, we were able to dine in a relaxed setting without feeling rushed. I mention this because with it being a holiday weekend full of Jeepers, I fully expected them to be packed. The wait to order was too long as it left me staring at the pastry window so long I almost ordered one of everything however; I refrained from doing so but still bought 4 pastries, French toast & seasoned potatoes. Yes yes, alot of food for 1 person but I still had 2 days left in my visit and well, I have a thing for pastries. The pastries were: mango & passion fruit eclair, a pineapple muffin, lemon raspberry cake & profiteroles. I loved everything with the exception of the eclair. It wasn't anything against the eclair, it's just the mango/passionfruit mixture was just too passionate for my tastes. The muffin reminded me of my own homemade upside pineapple cake without all the brown sugar. It was light and buttery. The Lemon raspberry slice was delightful & not the least bit tart or too sweet. A mixture of both flavors without either one overpowering the other. The cake was super moist, perfect. The profiteroles were my favorite. They reminded me of that feeling I had the 1st time I tasted them while living in Italy. The choux perfectly baked and so delightfully light. The French toast was good enough without the side of syrup. The star for me of the breakfast items were the potatoes. I LOVED them. They were served HOT, seasoned just right with their insides softer that a baby bottom. I coulda just ordered 2 servings of those & bypassed the toast. All in all, well worth the wait. The folks were friendly, the Cafe clean and the seating plentiful and comfortable. I would recommend this place for both pastries & French toast & spuds.

The weather was gloomy, but the vibes inside were warm, welcoming, and exactly what you want when you're trying to escape the rain for a bit. It has that charming farm-to-table feel, inviting, and full of good energy. Service was quick and genuinely great, especially for a Sunday. Our server was friendly, attentive, and kept things moving without making us feel rushed, which I always appreciate during brunch hours. Drinks came out fast, food followed shortly after, and everything felt smooth and well paced. The menu is full of options that really lean into fresh, seasonal ingredients. You can tell they care about quality of their food. Lots of comfort classics with elevated twists, plus some lighter options if you're not trying to go full brunch coma mode. I ordered the crab cake Benedict, and wow, absolutely the right choice. The crab cake was flavorful, perfectly crisp on the outside, and packed with real crab (not bready filler). The poached eggs were done just right, and the hollandaise was rich but not overpowering. Everything worked together beautifully, and it felt indulgent without being too heavy. My friend had the duck hash and couldn't stop raving about it! Will definitely return in the nicer weather so I can sit outside. They have a whole outdoor area, trails down to the water and ducks!

I had a cup of coffee and the hunting burger that comes with potato salad and fruit. I also added the green salad. I love that everything is so fresh! The fruit is actually an apple slaw that is very unique but also very good! The burger and potato salad were great! This is not the potato salad you might normally think of. It is red potato chunks tossed in a dressing but excellent either way! The green salad was REALLY good but I do have some recommendations.. when the salad comes with a meal, it is listed as "green salad." When ordered alone it is listed as "house side salad" and includes all of the ingredients listed. The salad does contain almond slivers as well as pesto which are both allergens. I think this should be noted under all of the meals that come with green salad. Many people don't even realize how pesto is made, so I would definitely point out it is made with tree nuts. My only other "complaint" would be their straws sit in a plastic container, unwrapped. I noticed when the waitress brought out straws she was touching where you'd sip, an my sister says this has happened every time she's been. On their grounds they have geese and chickens and other birds. There is also a little path that leads to a cute sitting area on the water. I'd love to visit again when it warms up a bit as this restaurant is very relaxing and has a great setting overall!

I'm a chef myself and travel to different restaurants regularly, so I try to be understanding. That said, the service we experienced yesterday at Stock Pot was unfortunately some of the worst I've had in quite a while. We sat outside, and it honestly felt like we were being deliberately ignored. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet we had to wait long stretches just to get basic things. At one point near the end of our meal, we asked for a box and our check. Instead of bringing it over, the waitresses stood around talking with other waitresses, while we continued to wait. After sitting there for quite a while, we eventually had to ask for the check and box, a second time. Throughout the meal the service was inconsistent. We had three different waitresses checking on us, but were left to sit for about 30 minutes alone at one point, and it took almost 20 to have our order taken, once we ordered, we had to request our appetizer again, after waiting another 20 or so minutes. Upon asking, again, we found out they were out of part of the appetizer we ordered. After that it came out quick. The food, however, was excellent and definitely the highlight of the experience. That's why this review is disappointing to write -- the kitchen is clearly doing a great job. I just hope the service side improves, because it didn't match the quality of the food.

We had hibiscus tea and peach tea for the table to share. The peach tea was everyone's favorite, it didn't even need any added sugar. It was served in cute pastel teapots, though one of the teapots had a chip at the spout which made me a little nervous. We also had macaroons made in-house for the table. I can't remember if I asked the staff if any of the macaroons were dairy free, but I asked my friends at the table and was told there was dairy in them. I later asked the staff if there was any food they offered that was dairy-free and they showed me their pastry counter but ultimately determined that everything offered had dairy, so all I had while at the café was the tea. The ladies I was with loved the macaroons. I wish I could have had some. I recommend at least 1-2 food options be added in the café for folks who have a dairy allergy. Café Genevieve provides a nice atmosphere for tea with a unique setting -- in a 1734 house that is decked out with Parisian decor. It's not the most private setting -- it got pretty noisy during our time there and there were a few interruptions to our conversation. We should have asked if we could have closed the door, because that definitely would have helped with noise and privacy. Overall, the customer service was great and the tea was really good!
