Honestly, this was one of the BEST meals I have had in years. I was so pleasantly surprised at how good the food was! I've eaten out a lot over the past few years as well, as I am a traveling consultant and young professional. This meal was sure enough a memorable one for me! I ordered the crab cake benedict and was so incredibly pleased with this dish. The crab was exceptionally fresh. As a Floridian and gulf coast native, I'd like to think that I know my quality seafood. This more than satisfied my standard! The dish was paired together wonderfully in terms of flavor and texture. More than enough to fill the belly. I was glad to have my boyfriend there to polish it off as I was content in eating just half of the meal. I am a huge brussel sprout fan and absolutely LOVED the way that the brussel sprouts were prepared. Crispy and savory. Some of the best that I've had in a long while...even better than I make them myself I'll admit! We loved our mimosa/bloody mary flight. It was such a fun compliment to our meal. The mango sorbet mimosa was our favorite in the flight by far. Our server was so sweet and helpful. Checked on us tastefully and just provided quality, authentic service with a smile. Simple Eats use to be my favorite brunch place but the wait time and lack of parking has definitely changed my views of this place. We were told that it would be an 50 minute wait for a table for two, which we didn't mind. We were at the restaurant at 11am and didn't receive our food until 1:30pm. We were starving and waited two hours to get seated. We've been here many times before with larger parties than the two of us and have never had an issue with being seated sooner. They should've been honest about the wait time because we would've went somewhere else. It honestly ruined my brunch experience here. The parking is terrible because the lot is small and always full. As busy as they are, a parking expansion should be considered. You literally have to stalk people leaving to get a spot and there's a constantly influx of cars coming in that small lot. Their food is pretty amazing besides the service. They're a farm to table type of restaurant so the food, is fresh and you can tell. The eggs are some of the best eggs I have ever eaten. I ordered the Garden Omelette with sausage added and it's usually great. This time they had large slices of onions that were still attached to each other. I wish it was diced in the omelette. Their side of house potatoes are always delicious especially if you add Speedy's honey habanero hot sauce to it (best hot sauce ever). The serving size of the potatoes were a lot less this time than other times I've been here. There were literally 5 cubes of potatoes on the side. I usually order the Crab Benedict and highly recommend it when coming here. It is my favorite dish here and comes with lump crab on top with a delicious aioli. My husband had the Pulled Pork sandwich special and he said it was delicious. He said the sandwich was soggy but it could've been because of how moist the meat was. He was pretty satisfied with his meal. Usually he orders the breakfast burrito and highly recommends it. Our server was way too busy and had too many tables than she could handle. I felt bad for her but it showed in the service we received. We waited a while for her to come back to the table. I'm not sure what has happened to this restaurant but it use to be my favorite and the restaurant I recommended to all of my friends. After this experience, I will not be coming back for awhile. They have pretty good Bloody Mary's and Mimosas. This pregnant lady misses the delicious drinks but I highly recommend the Bloody Mary/Mimosa flights if you're indecisive. Their Irish Coffee are delicious too. If visiting, I highly recommend planning ahead. I'm glad I didn't bring my family this time because they would've been really upset. It's pretty awesome they have a band/live artist outside. I wouldn't recommend eating out there though because the flies can get pretty bad. read more

My only major complaint with Simple Eats is that it is so dang far away from me! I loooooooove their decor. Hodge podge rustic farm design which is a photographer's dream. It's absolutely beautiful. I loved sitting there and just looking which ways and finding more and more things that intrigue me. I was also impressed with their food. Especially their apple pie a la mode! They get their ice cream from a local place and it was delicious and decadent. The crust for the apple pie was a baker's dream - so buttery and flaky! I had their bbq chicken flatbread and my husband got his steak and eggs. His food was very homey and the steak was cooked perfectly. The only disappointing thing was the home fries which I found bland. The servers also made you feel like you're a guest at their home. They were welcoming and friendly. I enjoyed that just walking to the restaurant from the parking lot we were already greeted by someone tending their flowers outside. It really set the mood! read more

Cute little, local spot for breakfast and brunch. Came in with a co worker and ordered an omelette. Requested it with no mushroom, receipt even said no mushroom, but it still came with mushrooms. I recently hosted a bridal brunch for my sister, and the service was perfect and the food delicious! I selected Simple Eats based on Yelp reviews since I coordinated the brunch from out of state. When I connected with Sandy to help with arrangements, she was more than accommodating and friendly. Sam, our server, was quick to help and make us feel comfortable. I ordered the Crabby Benny and added extra avocado (that part, I could have done without. $2 for a couple extra small slices of avocado.) My bill for my Crabcake Benedict (Crabby Benny, which is normally $15, with the $2 avocado, came out to $18.96, and that's with me just drinking water.) Again, I will not order the extra. The service is slow, the hostesses aren't very good with estimating times for tables but they are really nice (was told 30 mins for a table for two but waited over an hour), the parking is always atrocious, the waiting area is one chair and one bench for multiple people on a waitlist. Service: I give it 3 stars- it was on the slower side and the waitress was missing for most of our meal. We had to flag her or another waitress to get some condiments for our food. Food- pretty good! There's lots to choose from and we spent a lot of time figuring out what we wanted. The clam chowder is North Carolina style, broth based instead of cream based, and it was pretty Delish! This cute little farm to table restaurant was exactly what we wanted for a fun date night. Little did we know that they sometimes have live music, but that was the first thing we noticed when we came in the door. Luckily we were seated around the corner so it wasn't too loud and we could hear the band just fine. We both ordered delicious cocktails, made with local spirits, and our entrees were great as well. I had the Burrata sandwich, which I can best describe as bruschetta in sandwich form with a whole bunch of fresh, soft cheese; it was wonderfully fresh and bright tasting, and not too heavy either. The service was excellent, and the price point was about what we expected for the quality (not too expensive, I'd say mid-range). The decor inside is very eclectic but makes you feel at home. Honestly, super cute place, well decorated with delicious food, but the service is absolutely terrible. Came here for father's day with a party of 12, and surprisingly, were were able to make a reservation! We were seated promptly, and our server showed up in ~10 minutes. After bringing us some water, we didn't see her for another ~10 minutes. We were able to order coffees while waiting for the rest of our party, and we ended up waiting ~7 minutes for plain coffee. At this point, we understood because it was a busy father's day. However, we ordered our food, and between ordering and receiving food, it took ~50 minutes. We got no apology or anything. Even when our food came out, it didn't come out all at once. Yes, our party was large but 8/12 people ordered the exact same thing. I would've been more forgiving with an apology, but we got no explanation about our lengthy wait. The food was delicious. Clearly fresh (despite not being very hot anymore after our wait), but it wasn't anything to rave about. 8/12 got a crabby bennie which they all enjoyed. I got their breakfast bowl (with sausage), the kids got pancakes/french toast, and my uncle ordered a crab cake burger. We appreciated the food, but it wasn't worth the wait. It is rather disheartening that I am writing this. But here is an experience that should never have occurred. Today a few of us decided to get lunch for mothers day at Simple Eats. The seating was quick about a 10 min wait for outside. After being seated and waiting for our server she arrived and started to take our order. She got to our drinks then said ok and left as we started to order our food. After around 20 min of waiting for her to return with our drinks she finally returned empty handed and asked if we needed something. We told her we would like to order food. After we placed our order for food our drinks finally arrived. At the same time we noticed a new group of people being sat next to us. After about 40-45 min of waiting we asked the front station when will our order will be out. We did this because our server didnt stop at our table once. She stated it should only be a few due to one or two tickets ahead of us. Upon returning to our table we noticed the new group of people who sat next to us when we placed our food order was finishing up with their meal. We still haven't evem received ours yet. Our food order wasn't anything difficult either it was rather simple a few sandwiches and soup. After about 20 min of waiting and still nothing we finally flagged our server down and asked her for the check. We told her to just cancel the order due how long the wait had been and nothing the table who sat and order after us received their food well before us and stating they basically had the same thing we ordered. When she returned with our bill I extended my arm out to receive it from her instead she ignored my hand and put it on the table. We paid and left. Bearing in mind during this whole situation we did not act rude or disruptive towards anyone we didn't even complain beyond canceling our order. After leaving I told my significant other what happened and he asked if I said anything thing to the server or the manager and I said no he decided to call and atleast let them know what occurred before he could tell them exactly what occurred or who or where we sat the manager stated she knew who we are. He thought that was odd seeing he didnt discribe us or the situation entirely. The manager did offer her apologies which he stated seemed a bit dismissive vs an actual apology.The total time for the covo was less then a min. I keep thinking about it trying to figure out what we did wrong or what caused it. And the only think I can think of is that out of everyone eating there we were the only Asains. read more

If you like beets and goat cheese mixed with a vinaigrette this is the salad for you. I ordered the foggy ridge first fruit cider. I don't like sweet ciders, I like them tart and dry. This place had me moaning in ecstasy at the delicious quality of the food and they sell and serve a special hot sauce that was mango habanero and made locally and Virginia Beach which was divine! It's called Speedy's and I bought The last bottle they had for $10 but it was worth it! The decor was really cute and quaint kind of like going to grandmas kitchen in the country and she collects random Chyna. We visit Simple Eats very often, pretty much at least once a week. The food can be hit or miss, as can the server we get, but we love the place as a whole so we keep coming back. Our poached eggs are often fully cooked to a hard center, and sometimes the daily specials are a total miss, but stick to the biscuits and gravy, shrimp and grits, and my favorite, the avocado toast, and you'll be well taken care of. The food was delicious and you could tell how all the ingredients were fresh. Our waitress was great, however it seemed like she was the only one on the floor and had to take care of many tables. So our drinks came a little later then we expected and then we didn't order until about 20 minutes after we got our drinks. However, she was awesome and very helpful with navigating the menu and figuring out what to get! The food was pricey but I thought for the quality it seemed reasonable. A quant little farm to table place on Shore Drive. It is worth the drive. We both had the NY Strip dinner and then shared the Birthday brownie and Ice Cream they brought the wife, complete with a candle. It was a great night and great food. However, there were lots of tables that were not being used. Once we got seated, we placed our orders right away since we had an hour of waiting. It took another 15-20 minutes for the waitress to take our order. I ordered the french toast and must say these were probably the worst french toast I have ever had at a restaurant. I am not sure if it was because it was slightly burnt or the flavoring was off. My husband got the crabby bennie and it was quite delicious. I also tasted a little bit of my friend's Avocado toast and it was pretty tasty. Other than my food, my husband and friends will enjoyed theirs and even though the wait time was irritating they said it was well worth it. Quite possibly my new fav Sunday spot on Shore. Do not let the outside fool you, a rustic beach bistro awaits you inside. We sat down and ordered some coffee. After tasting it and commenting on how delish it was, I realized it was Three Ships, a local coffee brewery here in VB. While checking out the menu I was torn between breakfast, lunch or their specials they have written on their chalkboard. I decided to go with the breakfast burrito and do a side of the tomato, watermelon basil salad. Our server was so sweet, she actually made a bigger plate so the 4 of us could split it. The watermelon was sweet and so fresh, and had a sprinkling of salt on top. That mixed with the basil and tomato was a great way to start your Sunday. Then came the breakfast burrito. So simple and easy, but so good. It was large enough to where I took the other half home. It came with a homemade salsa and pickled veggies. I have to say, this is such a quaint little spot.
