A friend suggested we check out this place in Lake Geneva. They serve locally sourced food and have a very unique menu. They serve many gluten free/vegan and vegetarian items.. My friend had the roasted turkey and Brussel sprout hash which she loved and I had the simple pancakes. We were both very pleased with our meals. Server was lovely and the dining room was clean and very vibrant. Parking is available but is metered and in my opinion expensive. Not the restaurants fault at all as it is a city ordinance. $4.00 for parking and please pay it as the city patrols often and you will get a ticket.
We had gone into simple cafe for breakfast. We tried their apple crumble french toast, simple breakfast sandwich and Eggs Benedict. Their breakfast items are fantastic. Had also picked out a carrot cake from the adjoining bakery/market. Quick service and the cafe has a pretty big seating area. This cafe was a good find on our trip to Lake Geneva.
Very cozy cute resturant ! Healthy eating Vegan options The mashed potato omelet was delicious first time having something like that! The servers are friendly and helpful! Cute town. Pay the box parking on the street! Patio seating is available. Ask the hostess !
Ideal spot if you're gluten free for breakfast! I had the quinoa and corn fritters which was gluten free and it was delicious. There was a good variety of options to meet my various dietary restrictions since I also don't eat red meat or dairy. The service was so friendly and prompt! Also the prices were excellent and overall a great spot to enjoy breakfast. We did have to pay to park on a Friday but were able to get a spot out front.
We stopped on a Sunday in the late morning. It was very busy. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, which wasn't terrible. I ordered the mushroom omelette and my sister had the turkey hash. The mushroom omelette was average not really anything to write home about in my opinion. My sister said the turkey hash was very good. We both had the homemade sourdough for toast and we were not impressed. The taste was good, but it was so hard. It was like eating a crouton, it seemed like it was sitting underneath a warmer for too long. The wait to get our food was quite long, but it was a Sunday so tried to be patient. Overall, we were a bit disappointed because people talked it up to be the best breakfast in town. It was good, but average good.
Stopped by in Sunday morning at 11 AM and they were busy! We only had to wait about 10 to 15 minutes for a table. It was tight inside. They have seating that is kind of cramped but not too bad (more for the servers than the diners). The menu is full of interesting choices! Our server was very friendly, and our food came out quick. I had the mashed potato omelette. The hollandaise sauce was probably the best part. Otherwise it was very mild flavors. The pancakes, however - wow! They were perfect! Fluffy, light and delicious. We didn't realize the bakery was not part of the café. It's actually accessed via a separate entrance in the front of the building.
It's hipper than Vickie's Cafe (just across the street), but 2x the cost, and the patio doesn't justify such because during most of the off-season there's only 'indoor' seating is offered (and there's just not enough tables). Also, the lack of this interior design's sound absorption panels (nonesuch are in the ceiling as is normal for empty concrete floors and undecorated walls), and is horrendous. IT'S SO ANNOYINGLY LOUD that an LG-vacation-good-providing-poppa has to turn down his hearing aid to avoid cacophonous feedback noise, and even then he can't hear his grandkids talking. SAW THIS HAPPEN YEAR-AFTER-YEAR. Bad ambient echoing noises aside, the place is being set-up by hiring cheap, min-wage, inexperienced teens and mostly struggling immigrants. It's also SLOWLY FALLING IN TO DISREPAIR (see photos). Food is fine, but only egg, flour, onion, pork back fat, and gobs of cheese mostly (and bit-o-veg, but unintentionally uninteresting farm-fresh-local produce for generic breakfast faire)... p Plus, the bakery (outside of true European boulangeries, Simple Bakery is mostly sugar, processed seed oil fats (not butter, tallow, or olive), and non-organic, GMO grains, with inexpensive flour/yeast combos and ¢80 ingredients with a HUGE $8 price tag (why not $3-4?). Some tourists deal with 1). high prices for breakfast/lunch basics 2). noisy dining, and 3). rough exterior decor/dining room wear-down issues for basic upkeep.
Decided to come to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin for a quick b-day getaway. On our last day there, I saw this place on Yelp and the food looked good so decided to try them on 12/1/24, a lazy cold Sunday morning. I was a little nervous because many of the reviews talked about having to wait awhile to be seated. We lucked up, this wasn't our situation as they seated us right away. It was packed in there. We got to sit by the window which was the perfect spot. At the particular time we got there, we didn't have to pay the metered parking which was sweet but please, make sure you check if you happen to park in those spaces to make sure you don't get a ticket. Our female waitress was wonderful - friendly, kind and very attentive. We didn't have to wait long for our food. Breakfast is served all day which I love places that do. Our food was delicious! Everything was fresh! Pancakes were so yummy and yes, they were just as good, buttery and fluffy as my picture shows! Homemade chicken sausage was really good. The red potatoes I really liked - they sauteed it with green onions which really gave it a good flavor (I want to try this at home and see if I can come close to how theirs were). The eggs get a paragraph all to themselves. My God! Those were the best eggs I have had in my life, do you hear me? They had to have just gotten those from a chicken - even the orangish-yellowish coloring of the eggs were different. I wanted to order more eggs but I couldn't fit it anywhere in my belly - I was too full :( I really enjoyed my meal and hubby did too as he had the Korean BBQ Breakfast Bowl. Both of our plates were clean when we finished. I definitely want to return here. They have a bakery next door should you want to treat yourself to a sweet. Simple Cafe, there is nothing Simple about you! Thank you for adding to our wonderful trip to Lake Geneva. A++++ all around in our books! Thanks so much!
Visiting Lake Geneva with some relatives and stopped in here. For a party of 7 at noon on a Sunday we waited maybe 20-25 minutes. I got the Kimchi Pimento burger and it was delicious. My relatives say the breakfast tacos were also yummy. Their menu looked delicious and if I could've I would've tried more. It had a moderate noise level and some fruit flies were hovering around but overall a very nice lunch place! Our waitress was lovely too!
So, so good! My kids and I went in for brunch. It is a very cute cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered the eggs Benedict, simple breakfast sandwich, and eggs sardou. Everything was absolutely delicious! We will definitely go back again.
First time here and it was good! Will say, probably need to come earlier in the morning to avoid wait times - mom, sister, and I came around lunch time and waited 40 minutes for available seating. Waiter was nice and attentive. I had the apple crumb French toast and it was perfection. Doesn't even really need syrup since it's already sweet (but of course I poured on some anyways!). So delectable. Sister had the simple breakfast sandwich which she enjoyed. My mom tried the quinoa corn fritter and she really enjoyed the cilantro cream sauce that came with it the most. Overall, it's a nice place and somewhere we'd try again when coming to Lake Geneva. read more

Spent the day at Lake Geneva and my husband and I decided to stop by Simple Cafe for breakfast! While we waited for 15 minutes we went for a walk and shopped around a little. The decor is super colorful and vibrant! They had open patio but decided to be seated indoors. So many delicious options on their menu but I decided to go with the Korean breakfast bowl and enjoyed every bite of it! The ingredients tasted so fresh, and the pork was delicious. My husband had the breakfast tacos and they were 10/10 as well I can definitely see myself ordering those next time. read more

We love simple!! Such great food. A little pricy but they have something for everyone. For me, I get the Korean BBQ bowl every time. It's incredible and so different than anything you could get anywhere around here. Healthy too, and devoid of a lot of food allergies. Other favorites are the pumpkin pancakes (I can't eat it but it's my wife's favorite...unfortunately I think it's seasonal), the turkey hash, eggs Benedict, and any form of pancake. You can't really go wrong. Just be prepared for a little wait if you come at a busy time. read more
I've been coming to simple for years. It is one of the only truly good restaurants in LG! I've tried many menu items with some favorites being the seasonal pancakes, apple French toast, simple breakfast, and Korean breakfast bowl. Most recently, I tried the eggs Sardou. This was a funky take on eggs Benedict with poached eggs served on top of a croissant half along with creamed spinach and spiced hollandaise sauce. It was served with a side of potatoes- ask for them well done! Be sure to stop into the bakery next door for some homemade goodies. My fav is the almond croissant. read more

Amazing food. Wait was only 25 minutes, took a short walk and realized we were 1st line so we ran back to the restaurant. Ambience was busy but calm and social. Everyone seemed happy, it's nice to be surrounded with positive energy on an early sunday. Food didn't take long to come out, my girlfriend said the benedict was amazing and it was her first time ever trying. My frittata was pretty yummy, a lot of flavors. The tortilla could be improved by putting separately or someone differently. The third, bottom, tortilla was partially broken by the second tortilla rolled on top of it. Our server was amazing and very nice. Always had a smile on her when she helped other guests +1 read more

We ate here because it was so highly recommended by friends of ours who live in Lake Geneva and we liked our breakfast so much that we came back for lunch on the same day. We could eat all of our meals here and never get tired of it. The menu is very creative and the food is absolutely organic, healthy and local when possible. There are a wide selection of smoothies and juices, which is highly unusual in most of the restaurants that we end up in. I love smoothies and am a juicer so I notice these things and this place got an instant A+ in my book. The servers and hostesses were young but they were all in great moods and you could tell that they loved what they do. These things are readable in the way that customers are treated and we could both tell that the management of this establishment understands service . . . because it was excellent. I ordered a breakfast burrito and I am getting hungry again just writing about it. The potatoes were out of this world and I could not recommend this place any higher than I am trying to do right now. read more

Very good food! Excellent and quick service despite the crowd. Very slightly pricey but the food was excellent quality and well made. The only improvement could have been if the apples were softer, like pie filling, on the French toast. Will definitely go back. Super cute environment too. The one disappointment was that the bakery only has the amazing monkey bread shown in other reviews on weekends. No problem, just good to know because I was SO excited for it but couldn't get it during our week day trip. read more

Super delicious, veggie forward meals. We always eat at Simple at least twice when we're in town. Expansive menu with creative takes on familiar dishes, something for everyone. And the bakery next door--yum! read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We opted to sit outside because it was so loud inside. We were quickly seated and the service was good throughout! I ordered the Tofu Scramble from the breakfast menu and some black tea. The scramble was good and came out quickly! The tea was very flavorful and came in a large portion! Overall this was a good experience and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area for a 'simple' lunch! read more

This place knows how to do things right. Their staff is super friendly, the space is bright and cheerful, and the food is always on point. The fact they have a delicious bakery attached seals the deal. Worth the trip, every time. read more

The 20m wait was short and well worth it, as the food really is made from scratch and with ingredients that are all-natural and identifiable. I was recommended the BBQ Korean Breakfast Bowl and while the menu (pictured) had 15 items I wanted to try, this bowl won out and OMG, I could eat it multiple times per week, it was that delicious and savory and ugh, I just want it bad, haha... Service was excellent for our party of four and the coffee here is darn good too! We were recommended to come here and it was a definite winner during our Lake Geneva Christmas Time Story visit. read more

Wow! Simple Cafe is absolutely a delicious wonderful place. I got the Corn Beef Hash. It was filled with delicious veggies and wonderfully tender chunks of corn beef. It was a lot of food but absolutely incredible. Their breads are also so wonderful and fresh. Not to mention homemade! I would definitely recommend Simple Cafe to anyone. :) I will be back! read more

Cute little spot. Food selection is small, but quality seems good. Service was excellent. I had the Egg Sardou and really like the creole holliandaise sauce. Definitely had a southern flavor. Not much option for sides though. Overall a good little spot for breakfast. read more
This food and vibe here is terrific. Colorful, lively, and enjoyable with friendly service. My wife Lisa had iced tea and it was fresh brewed - outstanding by her high standards. I had citrus ginger hot tea - flavorful. The food was served quickly, hot and very tasty. Lisa had the roasted turkey and brussel sprouts hash with pancakes. She said it was fresh with a nice variety of items. The veggies were cooked just right. I had the Korean breakfast bowl. Lisa's first two words when tasting were "wow, amazing." Authentic Korean flavors in a perfect blend. Portions were generous. If you're in Lake Geneva, don't miss this gem - it's a few blocks out of the downtown main drag but it's worth the walk or short drive. Top marks! read more
