This is a fun beachy location with live music in the summer. People seemed to be having a great time dancing, singing and drinking. Boats pulled up to the dock and people joined in the fun from there too. We happened to come in during the Bash on the Bayou event which indicated a seafood boil and live music. Unfortunately, we could not find any indication of the time of the event so when we arrived at 6:30 and asked, they indicated it ended at 7pm so we could not partake. The price for that was $45 per person, fyi. So we ordered from the menu. The Italian Porkchops were dry (overcooked) and not the most enjoyable flavor. The Walleye was a bit dry but good enough and the mashed potatoes were good. The "caprese salad" was just meh. The drink (the Pink Pig Punch) was good albeit a little sweet. In fact, if you don't normally like whisky, this might actually work for you. The staff was friendly and attentive, even with how busy it was. There were a few inebriated folks that nearly fell down the stair or spilled drinks if that gives any indication of the 'fun' being had ;) There is indoor and outdoor seating and the place has a fun vibe. Make the reservation. It was very busy so service was slow but once ordered, food came fast. Drinks were good. We were in an alcove, not the main dining room so those waiting at the bar crowded our space which was annoying. The garlic cheese curds were delicious. They came with a white sauce. My friend had the salmon piccata which she said was okay and the rissoto was good. The wall eye was fried well but it has bones I guess I should have expected. The food here is good, but nothing too out of the ordinary. I kept it simple with a pork chop which I would recommend! The clam strips weren't my favorite, since they didn't taste very meaty and some of the pieces were just fried breading. I plan to give a different appetizer a shot next time. The atmosphere is recently renovated, but the old charm of the restaurant that used to be in its place is really missed though. Also note, THE VIEW OF LAKE COMO IS STUNNING! The best part of the experience was the drink I had (a spiced ginger pear old fashioned). Their seasonal cocktail menu is just fantastic. Finally, our server was quick and attentive. I specifically talked to the kitchen manager about food allergies of dairy and egg, and was assured the food would be safe for my son. Then the steak was prepared and served with butter on top. On top of that the food sucked. My daughter's meatballs were tough and tasteless, my crab cakes were soggy and sad, and my mother had received the worst filet I have ever seen. The getaway is a cute house on the lake with some great food. The views of the lake we had were beautiful. Our waitress was very attentive as well. First off, the appetizers?! Yummm. We had mussels (the broth was to die for) and the goat cheese and honey (a sweet treat). The salads were delicious too, with croutons made of crispy fresh bread. Now onto dinner, I had the shrimp Diablo, and my mother had the fried shrimp dinner. It seems like this place knows how to do seafood, that is a fact! And the shrimp Diablo was the perfect amount of spice. We have been to the Getaway for breakfast and it has always been great but this was our first experience for dinner. We made reservations at 6pm for our anniversary with another couple. We requested a seat by the window for the lake view. We arrived at 5 and wanted to grab a drink. The bartender was very busy filling orders for the restaurant but he was still kind and attentive. We grabbed our drinks and headed down by the lake. The back patio with all the different levels is a great space to hang and be by the water. We headed up around 5:45 and the hostess was very kind and they said our table was ready. We were very pleased with our table and they were able to accommodate our request with a great corner table right at the window. Our server was very busy but again took care of us. I specifically liked that she stayed calm and just took care of everyone the best she could. While I respect servers that run around like crazy trying to cover everything, it can make the dining experience awkward. Her being calm thru the chaos, made us feel all was good. Our apps came out, we got the crab cakes and the bread and oil. I highly suggest both. The crab cake was meaty and not all bread crumbs like you can get other places and the bread was sooooo good. Our dinners were next, at the table we got the tuna steak, halibut, prime rib and linguini and clams. All wonderful and cooked perfectly. The halibut was in the top 5 fish preparation and taste I have had. The side of the night was the garlic mashed, I highly suggest. We didn't do desserts because we were just too full. Such a beautiful spot on the lake with just as great food and drinks! We got a nice seat by the water and enjoyed our cocktails and appetizers. I started with the spicy margarita, and this was one of the better ones I've had! So fresh with a nice kick to it. I also had the rhubarb rosé, which was an interesting refreshing spritz. We got the oysters and mussels to start, and both were huge! The oysters were the biggest I've seen and still super fresh tasting. The mussels were in the most delicious spicy sausage broth. We were so full after just the appetizers but also had the fish fry- this cod was so tenderly flakey and of great quality. Saturday 2/28/26. a bad day. maybe the Chef didn't come in day and who cooked our breakfast you just hired. 3 of the 4 orders hard burnt and blackened toast and English muffins! We had ordered butter with all but didn't get any! Maybe they read the order as "burnt"??? OMG -- what an amazing night at Gateway Restaurant in Lake Geneva! The food was absolutely fantastic. The stuffed meatball? Out of this world! We dined at The Getaway on a Monday night. There was supposed to be live music that night but they cancelled due to illness. This was not the fault of the restaurant and was the only flaw in the evening. We arrived before our reservation to have a couple drinks at the bar. Bartender Jason was friendly and knowledgeable and recommended the perfect glass of wine for my husband and I. We were then seated by Gwen who had a lovely sense of humor and we were served by David. Food was delicious, cooked properly and fairly priced for what you got. We finished the evening in the bar with Jason who made me a fun smore style after dinner drink. Wow-the Getaway is the place for a perfect meal. Came for brunch and had the crab benedict which was amazing! Great service with a smile. We came on an extended family trip to Lake Como and were looking for a fun spot to head out to dinner one night. We had 4 littles and 9 adults and we were thrilled The Getaway was happy to accommodate us. We sat at 2 tables next to each other on the expansive patio that overlooks the lake. We started with a round of cocktails (& food for the kiddos). All cocktails were delish and strong! You definitely get your money's worth. We moved on to several apps - the ricotta & cheese curds were a fave, and the fresh oysters were huge! We loved all of our apps. When it came to our mains, we were a little underwhelmed after how great the apps were. Everything (fish & steaks) seemed a little overcooked. Also, for the one vegetarian in our party, he had to go through 3 menu items before he found something they were not out of (at 6:30pm on a Friday...). We had an amazing meal! This was my second time here and I came back for the prime rib! Started with a blackberry martini. Martini. Sweet but very good Calamari was great very unique flavor. we both thought. Crispy coating served with a seafood sauce. Definitely would get again. Spinach salad was as usual incredible. Needed another dressing that Kim happily brought. Prime Rib was a bit fatty but delicious. Baked potato was delicious, I know it's just a potato but it was great! Broasted chicken was great. So glad the broaster was fixed! I felt it was a bit salty but my husband loved it. He had the seafood bisque, creamy with a spicy kick. This was our second visit to this restaurant. First time was last year, a friend had stayed nearby and recommended. Overall had a good experience in regards to food, service, and enjoying the sunset on their patio. It was a nice change compared to busy Lake Geneva, so we decided to go again a few wks ago after a boat tour. Such a different experience. We did get a window seat, but the view obscured by lots of dead bugs on the outside. Also got sat right by air vent, it was freezing. Asked to move but waitress guilt tripped us saying we wouldn't be in her section. We hadn't even ordered yet, so ended up blocking air with my purse. I ordered the Halibut which came out warm, bland, and dry. Got a lemon garnish instead of actual slice so couldn't even cover it with juice to try and make it better. Thankfully my boyfriends pasta was decent. I ended up eating some of his. Didn't bother with sending fish back, just wanted to finish and leave. read more

HORRIBLE experience!!! Called ahead and asked about specials they said on the phone they had half priced appetizers and drinks from 4-6. We have been here many times as we,spend a lot of time in the Lake Geneva area. Our party of 4 arrived around 5:15 (without a reservation) and was seated at the last table near the exit door. We received menus, water and the promise that our server would be right with us. Fast forward 20 minutes that our server would be notified we were waiting. Nothing. After waiting for 45 minutes with no service, we left. If we had even been acknowledged, it would have been a little less irritating. We definitely will not be back. read more
