This is probably my favorite place in town for brunch! I wish my experiences at The Getaway were all consistent. I've been for dinner and the food was decent. I've been twice for holiday brunches and I wasn't impressed. However I did go to brunch last weekend and I was blown away by the service and the quality of the food.

The food here is good, but nothing too out of the ordinary. I kept it simple with a pork chop which I would recommend! The clam strips weren't my favorite, since they didn't taste very meaty and some of the pieces were just fried breading. I plan to give a different appetizer a shot next time. The atmosphere is recently renovated, but the old charm of the restaurant that used to be in its place is really missed though. Also note, THE VIEW OF LAKE COMO IS STUNNING! The best part of the experience was the drink I had (a spiced ginger pear old fashioned). Their seasonal cocktail menu is just fantastic. Finally, our server was quick and attentive. We dined in on a Sunday evening and I'm hoping to try their breakfast soon.

I specifically talked to the kitchen manager about food allergies of dairy and egg, and was assured the food would be safe for my son. Then the steak was prepared and served with butter on top. On top of that the food sucked. My daughter's meatballs were tough and tasteless, my crab cakes were soggy and sad, and my mother had received the worst filet I have ever seen. I may seen legal action (jk).

The Getaway is a charming, cozy lakefront restaurant with nice views of Lake Como. There is outside seating if you prefer, as well as bar seating. The server was welcoming, friendly and attentive. The cocktail and wine menu has lots of good choices. As a pescatarian I appreciated having salad and fish options, although there are plenty of options for meat lovers. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Not accurate- only ADA service dogs allowed
    Angelyque L.

For any dog owners this establishment says dogs allowed however no emotional support dogs are allowed and the front hostess will explain the FDA regulations for what is considered a therapy dog. Understandably the establishment has the right to serve whomever but it would be best to clarify this for future owners so it does not confuse the general public. Thank you! See photo referenced from the establishments Yelp page attached.

The getaway is a cute house on the lake with some great food. The views of the lake we had were beautiful. Our waitress was very attentive as well. First off, the appetizers?! Yummm. We had mussels (the broth was to die for) and the goat cheese and honey (a sweet treat). The salads were delicious too, with croutons made of crispy fresh bread. Now onto dinner, I had the shrimp Diablo, and my mother had the fried shrimp dinner. It seems like this place knows how to do seafood, that is a fact! And the shrimp Diablo was the perfect amount of spice. I didn't have to chug half of my water while eating it! definitely give this place a try if you love seafood, views or just a cute place for a date night.

We have been to the Getaway for breakfast and it has always been great but this was our first experience for dinner. We made reservations at 6pm for our anniversary with another couple. We requested a seat by the window for the lake view. We arrived at 5 and wanted to grab a drink. The bartender was very busy filling orders for the restaurant but he was still kind and attentive. We grabbed our drinks and headed down by the lake. The back patio with all the different levels is a great space to hang and be by the water. We headed up around 5:45 and the hostess was very kind and they said our table was ready. We were very pleased with our table and they were able to accommodate our request with a great corner table right at the window. Our server was very busy but again took care of us. I specifically liked that she stayed calm and just took care of everyone the best she could. While I respect servers that run around like crazy trying to cover everything, it can make the dining experience awkward. Her being calm thru the chaos, made us feel all was good. Our apps came out, we got the crab cakes and the bread and oil. I highly suggest both. The crab cake was meaty and not all bread crumbs like you can get other places and the bread was sooooo good. Our dinners were next, at the table we got the tuna steak, halibut, prime rib and linguini and clams. All wonderful and cooked perfectly. The halibut was in the top 5 fish preparation and taste I have had. The side of the night was the garlic mashed, I highly suggest. We didn't do desserts because we were just too full. We will definitely be back and highly suggest.

Such a beautiful spot on the lake with just as great food and drinks! We got a nice seat by the water and enjoyed our cocktails and appetizers. I started with the spicy margarita, and this was one of the better ones I've had! So fresh with a nice kick to it. I also had the rhubarb rosé, which was an interesting refreshing spritz. We got the oysters and mussels to start, and both were huge! The oysters were the biggest I've seen and still super fresh tasting. The mussels were in the most delicious spicy sausage broth. We were so full after just the appetizers but also had the fish fry- this cod was so tenderly flakey and of great quality. My Caesar salad was a little too drenched but everything else was spectacular. Loved this cute place!

We stayed at the French country Inn and this restaurant is attached. We ate dinner and breakfast here. Ambience is great as you can see from the pictures. If I had one request, it would be that they had outdoor lights fixed down toward Lake Como do you can enjoy the view while you eat at night. Great service and large portions for both meals.

Prime rib was perfect, rare as ordered, and our waitress Kim was awesome. Dinner was served within 15 minutes of ordering. Live music and ambiance was perfect!!

Service was excellent The menu has a wide variety that makes it is easy for a big group to find something they like. The view is wonderful. Outdoor dining or cocktails on the lake is very relaxing. They also take reservations for a large group!

We dined at The Getaway on a Monday night. There was supposed to be live music that night but they cancelled due to illness. This was not the fault of the restaurant and was the only flaw in the evening. We arrived before our reservation to have a couple drinks at the bar. Bartender Jason was friendly and knowledgeable and recommended the perfect glass of wine for my husband and I. We were then seated by Gwen who had a lovely sense of humor and we were served by David. Food was delicious, cooked properly and fairly priced for what you got. We finished the evening in the bar with Jason who made me a fun smore style after dinner drink. We will be back next time we're in the area.

It has a classic-looking front façade, made from crafted wood millwork. Inside, on the lower level, is a bar area and seating for different-sized groups. Upstairs is another dining area that isn't as well furnished, but it is definitely quieter (which is always our pick). We had reservations on a Friday night and got seated right away. Our server got us settled in with water and menus. They have a drink menu with some interesting offerings of hand-crafted cocktails. We settled on a couple of Pinot Grigios, Old Fashioneds, and a Lo Siento. All were very good. After our server (Calvin, who did a great job the entire night) explained all of the specials, we decided on the Seba-tons (Lobster Wontons); the Duck; Lamb Chops; Brrr-atta (Pasta); and the Bronze Medal (Filet). All the food was amazingly good. The Lobster Wontons were hot, flavorful, and crisp (not greasy). Each piece was a good size. We didn't wait long for the entrées to come out. Each of them was well presented, hot, seasoned nicely, and generous in portion. My lamb chops were the perfect medium rare (almost as good the next night when I had leftovers). The potatoes with olives, feta, etc. were inventive and delicious. The first meal we ate here was memorable, but I think this meal even topped that one. Absolutely delightful. We would definitely come back for another meal. My only suggestion would be to add a little more décor upstairs (maybe a picture or two :).

While in Lake Geneva I searched the area for lunch and there is a restaurant .02 miles from me. The place has a decor with a fun vibe. They even have an ice cream shop in it. The menu is huge compared to the Pottillos Chicago chain. The employees are chick fil a friendly I noticed with every employee I encountered acknowledging me, how one chain set the bar and people notice when it comes from another chain. As a Chicago boy eating Chicago beef all my life I got the authentic beef dipped with hot peppers. Compared to portillos the beef is not as tender and has a sliced pot roast texture. The bread is fresh, chewy and denser and holds up too well because it didn't soggy the bread how I like it. The hot peppers are noticeable hotter with my running nose. Overall the two Chicago chains are doing Chicago beefs slightly different but they are still very good in different ways, Side note Oak Creek WI will get one soon which would be an hour round trip for me so unless I was in Oak Creek I will probably not get to this chain often when Portillos is 10 minutes round trip.

On the outside, the location looks an unassuming and honestly a bit sketchy. However, once you get inside, it is very upscale and fancy. Never judge a book by its cover! When we came in, it was not as crowded as we expected. The atmosphere and decor, though, was sleek, romantic, and modern. We were very fortunate to be seated by the window. The view is absolutely breathtaking, right on the lake. We had a nice server, very attentive. We ordered the PB & J old fashioned, which was so unique. It was strong and tasty. We also had the garlic bread, which was probably one of the best garlic bread I ever had. We also had the prime rib, which was tender and not too salty. My favorite meal of the night was the crab pasta. It's a little spicy, but you get actual chunks of lump crab meat. Other places that have crab pasta barely have any crab meat at all. I'm glad they're generous with the amounts here. Their portions are also large, so we didn't have room for dessert. However, they did look delicious, so I regret not getting some to go. The manager was also walking around the restaurant and checked in on every table, which was nice. I had a pleasant experience here. No complaints at all. This is a lovely date night spot. They also had something plugged in (the toaster I think) with the cord literally dangling in the walk path from the door to seating (definitely a trip hazard). One of the best restaurants in the Lake Geneva area is a hidden gem on the upper level of the resort, Ristorante Brissago. My wife and I made a reservation for Sunday evening to celebrate my birthday. We were greeted at the door by the hostess. We asked if we could get a table by the window and she graciously accommodated our request. Our server, Tanya, greeted us and asked if we wanted to start with a bottle of wine, or cocktail. After a brief review of the menu we decided to start with a beer. My wife had a Peroni, Nasto Azzurro and I chose the New Glarus Spotted Cow. The bus server brought us a basket of warm bread, olive oil, and shredded Parmesan to get us started. Tanya returned and we decided that a cold night warranted a hot bowl of Minestrone Zuppa soup. The soup was made with vegetables , pasta shells, parmesan, broth , and pesto. A great start that brought the right amount of warmth to the beginning of our meal. Tanya was exceptional. She checked on us periodically and did not rush us to order the next course. I mention this because a lot of restaurants have adopted a policy to seat you, feed you, and rush you out the door. Thank you Tanya and staff for understanding that dining out is an experience to relish and take your time to relax and cherish good food and company. For our entrees I was deciding between two dishes and Tanya suggested the Roasted Branzino. It was prepared with a Potato Fennel Puree, Pomegranate Beurre Blanc, Orange Herb Gremolata. Perfection. It was the most flavorful fish I've eaten in many years. Thank you Tanya for your expert opinion. Bravo! My wife ordered the chicken cacciatore. Her dish was prepared with Roasted Cornish Hen, Cacciatore Sauce, Roasted Potato, Chives. Lighting doesn't always strike twice. Her chicken and potatoes were a bit under cooked. The presentation was beautifully executed; however the dish was good, not great. For dessert we were debating between an espresso martini when another cocktail caught my eye, the creamsicle martini. Amazing martini. It was strong, flavorful, and garnished with a slice of orange. Best cocktail on the menu. Wonderful, sublime, and tasty. Tanya surprised us with a slice of New York cheesecake with a candle and a Happy Birthday placard made with chocolate. Thank you. The cheesecake was amazing. Thick graham cracker crust and a rich New York cheesecake drizzled with Carmel and a side of whip cream, blackberry, blueberry, and strawberry. WOW. Loved it! I'm reminded of an old Irish proverb "Laughter is brightest where food is best". Thank you for bringing laughter, love, and great food to the table.
