Stopped in for dinner on the first Friday in Lent and was pleasantly surprised that we were able to get seated immediately. The service was great, very attentive and the atmosphere was cozy. We were seated near the kitchen area so we could see the hustle and bustle of the everything which was actually nice. Our family prefers wood-fired pizza and this did not disappoint. The Mickey Mouse pizza was a big hit with my daughter and the pepperoni & honey pizza my husband and I split was the perfect size, cooked to perfection. The sweetness of the honey drizzle paired with the spiciness of the pepperoni was spot on. For dessert we couldn't pass up the nutella calzone with came with a size of fresh strawberries. Stopped for dinner on our trip and WOW the view!! I hate eating outside but really enjoyed it. The cheese curds are very unique and my wife and I loved them so much, we thought about getting another order. The breading is something special. Wood-fired pizza is some of my favorite kind of pizza. If you want to get fancy, you can also call it Neapolitan pizza. But whatever you call it, Oakfire is making some great pies. They cook their pizzas at 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit (!) in an imported Stefano Ferrara oven. You can really taste the difference. I visited with a big group, so we got a few different pizzas and appetizers. We got the cheese curds (of course, because Wisconsin) and the burrata -- a wood-fired bread topped with arugula, marinated tomatoes and a big blob of cold burrata. They were both great, but my favorite was the burrata, because burrata will always win when it's in competition with any other food. We also got the Napoli salad for the table, which was arugula topped with shaved parmesan, crispy bits of prosciutto, red onions, cucumbers, tomatoes. Very tasty and fresh! We ordered a few different pizzas for our group. We got the Mickey Mouse pizza, which was actually on the kids' menu, because it's basically a plain cheese pizza. Then we also got a margherita, a pepperoni & honey, a Bosco (sausage, mushrooms, basil and peccorino), a Sorrento (a pizza topped with arugula), and the zucchini, which is literally a bianca (white) pizza with slivers of zucchini on it, as well as arugula, pistachio pesto, bufala mozzarella, pecorino, olive oil and lemon. All of the pizzas I tasted were amazing, but I loved the pepperoni & honey, because the pepperoni were those kinds that turn into charred cups. There's something about unctuous cups of pork and sweet honey on wood-fired bread topped with lots of melted cheese and tomato sauce that sends me over the edge. The pepperoni & honey pizza is simple, but sometimes, the simple things are the best things. If you can swing it, I highly suggest sitting outside! Oakfire has a nice rooftop seating area, and it overlooks Lake Geneva, which was especially pretty when I was there. read more

Of course the location on Geneva Lake is outstanding...but we were curious about the food. We walked in on a Sunday evening requesting to sit upstairs and outside. They were able to accommodate immediately! Our waitress, Hailey, was fantastic! She got our drinks right away, gave us excellent recommendations, and was so genuinely nice! I'm not kidding when I say our pizzas came to the table in less than 5 minutes!! She told us the ovens are so hot that pizzas cook in 90 seconds. We had a group of eight, and they let us know we could sit anywhere. We choose their patio because the weather was stunning, the people watching is always fun, and the lake views are not to be missed. Having our two kiddos with us, we put in some food for them right away. Fairly limited menu, which is fine, so we opted for the 'mickey mouse' pizza that they could share. Came out so quick! Would I say it looked like mickey? That would be a stretch. But it was tasty nonetheless. The rest of us ordered drinks and a handful of pies to all share. I had a spicy paloma and omg it was so darn gooooood! You can always tell when margs are made with a mix, and this one was indeed not. Super fresh, tangy, and the right amount of spice. Loved the style of pizza here - all metropolitan. My fave was the soppressata, which came off of the PIZZA BIANCA side of the menu (essentially the options that are non-red sauce). My family and I went to this restaurant to try it out and the food was okay and the scenery was pretty cool. We had the pepperoni and honey pizza and the honey was a bit overwhelming but the pepperoni was nice and crisp which I liked, especially the crust. Ordered a traditional Margerita pizza and the second it came out, it was soggy, and the entire middle was completely undercooked. (Pictured in the video below, was about 5-10mins after it came out). Complete slop The Salumi pizza was better, but still undercooked in the middle, just not as bad It was myself and two other men who were a little hungry. If it wasn't for the flavor and 1 of the 2 pizzas being somewhat decent, we would've told them to remake them both and cook them longer. It would've been nice to let someone know, but unfortunately our waitress that day (didn't catch her name), was very inattentive to our table and didn't check in on us until the pizza was almost all gone. We also asked for lemon for our water multiple times, but she forgot that as well. Overall, not terrible, but if you don't like undercooked pizzas, definitely tell them to leave it in longer. Loved stopping by Oakfire on a day trip to Lake Geneva! The restaurant is right on the water and has a ton of seating options inside and outside. Their first floor patio is dog friendly so we brought our lab with us and she just sat under the table the whole time! No reservations and it gets busy during peak days and hours, especially in the summer. Highly recommend trying to get an outdoor table on a nice day. We started with the bruschetta which was fresh. The bread was a little too hard but the tomatoes were delicious. We then got the pepperoni and buffalo margarita pizzas. The restaurant has a good vibe as we walked in to the place. The restaurant is strategically located in front of Lake Geneva with a great view of the lake. Instead of being seated inside right away, we opted to wait for a table in the patio for a better view of the lake whole dining. I wanted to sit at the second floor balcony, but the restaurant host told us second floor wasn't open today. This took about 20 minutes or so but we didn't mind since we weren't hungry. The Verace pizza came out really quick and kinda cold... Even before the beers. I think there must have been a mix-up of some sort. I'm thinking it might have been another table's cancelled order or something. If that wasn't the case it something like it, the pizza couldn't be cold like that and wouldn't have been ready even before they brought out drinks. I had to ask what was happening with our drinks and it took almost 20 minutes to get out beers from tap. A little while later, the Bosco pizza was served nice and warm and very tasty. I would definitely order the Bosco if I was eating here again. Except for the mishap with the first pizza being a bit cold and the beers from the tap taking so long to get served, we had a great time talking and enjoying the view even though it was getting dark so we couldn't see much of the lake. We drove up to Lake Geneva for Memorial Day weekend and stopped by Oakfire for lunch. They don't take reservations so you get a buzzer while you wait. The view of the lake makes the wait totally worth it. Once we sat down we ordered a Hugo Spritz, Rosso Sangria, Lavender Lemonade, and Limoncello Sangria. The Rosso Sangria was our favorite and super refreshing. The Limoncello one was probably our least favorite. For food we got the Pepperoni and Honey pizza, calamari, and cheese curds. The cheese curds were really good, maybe a little salty but still solid. The pizza was fine, nothing amazing but not bad either. Overall it's a great spot for a summer lunch in Lake Geneva. I recall being on the beach a couple of July's ago with a large group and looking across the street asking "What's the place with all the people? Let's go there." Turns out it was Oakfire. And while the majority of my group headed home from the beach not to return, I somehow ended up somewhere else in town after my post-beach shower/reset. So when I returned to Lake Geneva this spring for a work event, visiting Oakfire was top of mind. So on an early May weekday I had lunch here with a friend. We were sat outside promptly and for this I was thankful. A couple of weeks later when prime tourist season hits and it would be like it had been that July I am sure. So be warned, timing is everything here. A wait should be expected if its summer season. I had not seen the words "pepperoni cups" prior to perusing the Oakfire Pizza menu. I am a red sauce trad pep pizza kind of gal and a fan of the wood fire style. The pepperoni curls up a bit around the edge - who knew pepperoni could have new things done to it? It was lunch and I am a small amount of food at one time eater so I had leftovers. After a drive back to my home city and time in the car while I went to the gym, I reheated this pizza and finished it for dinner. Yeah its that good that I took a risk. No I did not get sick. I finished. This is my must go to spot for any and all future returns to Lake Geneva! read more
