There are good restaurants and there's Holy Cannoli a great restaurant. What makes the difference is the proprietor. In this case her name is Melissa who was more than nice to us and made sure our experience was second to none. We felt so at home we closed the placed out. When I say the penne pasta is al dente, there's still fight in them, definitely not wimpy, pair that with their light creamy vodka sauce and is quite possibly the best pasta I've had lately. Special mention also goes to the grilled octopus on a bed of Arugula. The restaurant is called holy cannoli so of course we had it but what takes the cake is the tiramisu- just get it trust me you'll like it. If you don't we can't be friends anymore. read more

First the good: The gnocchi is made in house and delicious. Also, their dirty martinis and tiramisus are pretty solid. Second the not so great: I ordered a side of spinach for a little over $8 and the portion was very small. Plus, the spinach came out half uncooked and with a piece of broccoli stem in it too. Finally, there was some confusion with the order and the server wasn't very accommodating and essentially told my party that we were misremembering what dishes were ordered. However, it was Labor Day weekend so I can get being overwhelmed by the volume of people. Overall, I would give it another shot but I'm not dying to go back on a busy weekend. read more

Should be called Holi Tiramisu . The tiramisu is trying to make a monthly meeting in my belly! We love sitting at the bar, and tend to be creatures of habit when we find something we like. My husband loves the cannoli chicken-says it's loaded with flavor. Lovely Italian restaurant we found in our travels, so glad we stopped here. We were traveling and we'd fortunate to identify this restaurant while driving. It was not too far off our route and they were able to accommodate us in the dining room as the bar area was packed. Our server, Beth, was friendly, excellent and provided detailed recommendations. She checked back with us multiple times but was not intrusive. We took our server, Beth's, recommendations on dinner selections - chicken parmigiana and gnocchi (house made). We were very excited to try Holi Cannoli as we do not get the chance to eat out often as just a couple by ourselves. We had a 4:30 reservation and the restaurant was almost empty except for two other tables of diners. We were escorted to a table in the corner by the swinging doors to the kitchen that the servers were constantly coming in and out of. This table was the only table that had two " antique" chairs that looked like they had been garbage picked from a back alley while all the other tables had black wood dining chairs. The floral print covers on these chairs looked like they were the original covers from 100 years ago and they wobbled terribly. I don't know why we had to be seated at that particular table when maybe only about four other tables were seated the whole time while we were there. We were not overly impressed with our choice of pastas and had to ask for refills on our drinks after we were done with our meal. Overall, we were disappointed in our dining experience and I could not get home quick enough to wash my clothing from sitting in those horrible chairs that were only at our table. It is so hard for us to get a night alone out and hopefully we will make a better restaurant pick next time or at least one that has a comfortable table and chairs. read more

My sister and brother-in-law have a lake house on Lauderdale Lakes (I know... lucky them!). When we visit, which so far has happened twice in two years, we love spending quality family time with them at their lake house. We also love getting out to eat / drink whenever possible, and we've now been to Holi Cannoli on both of our visits. Both times HC has been a five star dinner experience for all of us - kids and adults. Super friendly and attentive service, delicious food and drink, and the claw machine in the entry area has also been a huge hit! You can't go wrong with the pasta dishes or specials. On a recent visit, my sister and I shared an arrabiata pasta with shrimp and broccoli and also an eggplant sausage appetizer. I've been wanting to try Holi Cannoli for a while now and hubby and I found ourselves kid feee tonight so we went for it and we were not disappointed. We sat at the bar as the wait was going to be quite a while for a table but that was fine by us. The bartenders were great; very attentive and fun; good vibe, seemed like a few regulars which is always good at a restaurants. We ordered bruschetta to start with Pinot noir and Pinot Grigio. The flavors and topping were plenty. Hubby ordered gnocchi with vodka sauce and Blackened chicken; I opted for rigatoni with pesto and grilled chicken. Both dishes were great portion size and flavor. We each tried each others and honestly, I'm not usually a vodka sauce fan but it was amazing. We also had bread with marinara on the side. Very delicious. We ordered tiramisu and cannoli for dessert; I opted for the chocolate covered cannoli shell. Both were very good and finish entirely. We will certainly be back! read more

WHAT A GREAT PLACE! It's been ten years since I've been here. It's half way between Lake Geneva and Oconomowoc. Serious nowhere. I remember the place being an old Italian throwback with Dean Martin playing as dinner music Well, the place hasn't changed- nor should it. My wife ordered the vesuvio and it was wonderful. As good as any place in Chicago. I had the chicken parmigiana with the vodka sauce- ridiculous! Total winner. We also got their enormous amazing salad with olives, cheese and peppers. We split a cannoli for dessert. I've eaten cannolis my whole life. I've been to famous places in New York. This may have been as good as any I ever had. The menu is limited and the pasta itself is nothing to get excited about. We were staying in Milwaukee and drove an hour each way. It was so worth it! I haven't visited in a while, but after seeing Holi Cannoli featured on food network, I had to come back for 'The Best Thing I Ever Ate.' We ordered the chicken parm with vodka sauce (instead of marinara) and it was SUPERB. The chicken was succulent and cooked to perfection and was covered in the rich and flavorful vodka sauce. I don't think I've ever tasted anything so delicious...but it turns out i could have subbed out the pasta for gnocchi! I can't wait to come back to try this ultimate combo (chicken parm with gnocchi instead of pasta, topped with vodka sauce)! Despite the tragedy of the previous owners passing away from Covid, their daughter is carrying on their legacy with phenomenal food and service. I heard about this restaurant from social media, chicken park specifically. Went on a Saturday night, not thinking a reservation would be needed. I was wrong. But they were very gracious to accommodate. Started with fresh bread and red sauce. That's different. It was good. We did miss the Parmesan. Calamari was very good. Sauce served with it was unique but good. Chicken parm didn't win the best ever for me but it was very good. I asked for heavy sauce as I like it saucy, extra $4.95. Yikes! A little heads up would of been nice. That is hefty charge. Chicken Marsala was good. Chicken was tender. It came with mashed potatoes. It could of used a bit more sauce as the mashed potatoes had no gravy. We had to pass on desserts , but they looked great. Next time. ... Overall decent meal. Not cheap. Finally, a legit and memorable fine dining experience in southern Wisconsin. Not your average "curds, brats, burgers," cheap-o, cattle feeding trough type of food one tends to grow tired of eating in this area, and priced as such. If you're more interested in portion size vs money spent than the quality and flavor of the food, don't go here. Nor is this a place to visit if you expect food geared towards the local hawg crankin' straight piped palate: sweetened or salted to the max, with tons of cheese and bland spices so it doesn't interrupt the rapid consumption of 27 beers. This meal was not *just* the best food I've had around here, but also one of the best Italian meals I've consumed in my life, and that covers some serious ground. My vesuvio was nothing short of epic, and my date really enjoyed her mussels and shrimp. Our server was amazing, as was all supporting staff. Dishes were bussed off the table as fast as we finished one and moved on. H.C. was a traditional supper club prior to its current form and still retains much of that charm; apparently some other reviewers took issue with this. Not an issue for me at all. It was clean and tidy to a fault and probably the first restaurant I've been to in the area that didn't have that telltale stench of dirty kitchen and didn't have sticky tables, seats, and floors. It's been 5 years living in Elkhorn to finally stop in and eat at Holi Cannoli. Every time I'd drive by the place was either closed (earlier in the day) or it appeared dated on the outside. Don't get me wrong, it's true what they say...don't judge a book by it's cover. Walking in this place had an almost dreary supper club appearance. Once again, don't just a book by its cover. Opening our menu i was a little shocked by the prices...but then again, everything has gone up. Some things I did think were a tad overpriced. Bread and sauce was brought to our table right away and the waitress got our drinks. She was an amazing waitress by the way. Our first taste of the sauce I knew was going to make or break this place. Let me say, BY GOD! Coming from an Italian family, this was one of the best sauces I've ever eaten. My wife who is hard to impress was VERY impressed. We ordered fried mozzarella for our appetizer. We were expecting mozzarella sticks. Nope. Better! Fresh fried slab of mozzarella, breaded in a delicious batter and smothered in the delicious sauce. There simply wasn't enough for us as it was SO good! My wife and daughter both ordered the chicken parm. Delicious! I ordered something off the special menu. Not sure if it's a daily special menu or if they always have it. Either way, I really enjoyed it. Overall I would rate this place 4 1/2 stars. (Wish I had that option). Mainly due to the price of the food. It was delicious and we will be back but we are now a little more prepared for the pricing. It does taste all home made though. You get what you pay for. Don't let the outside appearances turn you away. This is a great place for that nice dinner out every once and a while. We came in on Saturday night without a reservation (5:30-ish) and were able to get seated right away, however pretty soon the place was full. We had the same entree- Pasta ai pescatore, which was really good, but a bit spicy for me (I am not used to this level for an Italian dish). Seafood was cooked perfectly. We also had Holi Cannoli cheesecake which was ok, but not the best I've ever eaten. The service was excellent, very attentive and fast. read more

My wife and I moved to elkhorn and wanted to try a restaurant we heard was "good". We went to holi cannoli. To avoid the wait for a table opted to sit at the bar. The owner greeted us upon arrival. A nice gesture.. I order the lamb chops, the most expensive thing on the menu, and rack up a bill of $240 on the night.. the owner, Melissa, mingles with her regulars across the bar as they talk crap about us speaking too loudly, and throw snobby, dirty looks. A rude/ disrespectful first impression.. the bar staff on the other hand were very nice and welcoming.. and it's unfortunate- TALK ABOUT GOOD FOOD LEAVING A BAD TASTE IN YOUR MOUTH.. WOOF!
