Kilwins is a chain, but it doesn't feel like one. Every Kilwins that I've been in has felt like a local ice cream and chocolate shop, including this Kilwins in Lake Geneva. I visited to get a little something sweet after dinner. They have a dozen or so ice cream flavors, plus fudge and chocolates and other candies. I chose to get a milk chocolate caramel and a marzipan fruit. Both of them were great, but I especially loved the marzipan. I rarely eat marzipan, but when I do, I'm always reminded of how much I love almond paste. Yum yum. The people who I was with who got ice cream said that their ice cream was good. I took their word for it because I'm not a big ice cream fan! The people behind the counter were very patient, as some of the people in my group were indecisive. 've been to several other Kilwins in different parts of the country, and I have found some of them to be just okay. This location, in the heart of downtown Lake Geneva, looks similar in many ways, but I felt like it was more spacious. When we were there, they were making several batches of fresh fudge, and the smell was overwhelming and delicious. It took me a few minutes to decide, but the staff were friendly and patient. I ended up with a few different cones: Kilwins Track, Salted Caramel, and Cherry. My biggest complaint? They gave me way too much -- it looked like at any second it was going to topple off the top of the cone. :) All three cones were excellent, and I'd be happy to stop by again. read more

Kilwin's ice cream for the win! There's a handful of spots to grab treats in Lake Geneva, but this one is a staple. We stopped by on a recent trip in town and were excited to bring our family in. The smells are so welcoming upon entry- like fresh cones and fudge! Immediately you see glass cases full of the best chocolate creations. From caramels and fudge, to choco-covered pretzels, truffles and beyond. We came for the ice cream however, which is of great variety. I split a kids cone with my four year old and that was certainly enough! Choco Brownie was our (his) pick. So darn good. My husband got the New Orleans Praline Pecan, while my in-laws split a Lemon Sorbetto. Everyone was more than pleased with their dessert! Staff here was super friendly and attentive, location is stellar being smack dab in the middle of downtown. Great shop all around. read more

There are wonderful confectionaries in Door County, Minocqua, the Wisconsin Dells, and other Wisconsin tourism sites, but my favorite of all of them is Kiliwin's in Lake Geneva. It's not just the incredible flavors of the candy and ice cream they have there, but the presentation is second to none, as well. Everything is beautifully made, and tastes absolutely amazing! It's a must stop whether you're there for the lake's summer beauty or the winter ice sculpture festival. Visited Kilwins in Lake Geneva on a busy Saturday evening with my family -- the line was out the door (each time I walked by!), but totally worth the wait! As soon as I stepped inside, the smell of chocolate and fresh waffle cones hit me, and the experience just kept getting better. You can actually watch the staff making the chocolate right on site, which adds a fun and unique touch. I was offered a free sample of fudge (yes, free!) and chose the salted caramel -- ohhh my gosh, it was absolutely scrumptious. I also tried a chocolate-covered pretzel rod (so good), a chocolate-covered Nutter Butter (dangerously good -- I couldn't stop at just one!), and some caramels that were buttery and delicious. We opt'd for ice cream and all enjoyed. Their flavor offerings are vast and there is something for everyone including sorbet for our lactose intolerant family. Entering this shop I was a already very impressed. It did not disappoint. We were there one Friday night with some friends and they enjoyed it too. It was not the only thing we were impressed by. My boyfriend made a mistake and accidently tipped $100 We left to sit outside and enjoy the day and just before we were finished a gentleman comes outside and asked if we meant to do that. My boyfriend explained what happened and this young man was quick to fix the mistake. Looking back now, they deserve more than that as a tip for their honesty. You really do not see this anymore. Kilwin's has been a staple on the touristy Lake Geneva strip since I was a kid. The sweet-chocolatey aroma as you enter the store, is very enticing and inviting. They make all of their fudge by hand. Every hour a new batch is made, and you can watch. There is also a wide array of ice cream treats. The staff is very friendly, and answer any questions that you may have. Good. On the plus side the staff is friendly, the location very central and the ice cream and fudge is better than what you'd get at some other places. On the downside, it's expensive ($12 for a small slab of fudge, $9 for two scoops of ice cream) and the taste of both was less than ideal. I am so glad that I decided to stop in this sweet little shop. This was my first visit to Lake Geneva, I walked around and enjoyed all the little shops. My favorite by far was this one. Unfortunately, I did not have the ice cream. I sampled fudge, I had never had fudge before. It was my first experience and I fell in love!! I ended up taking home the salted caramel fudge and the chocolate peanut butter fudge. Both are delicious!!! I didn't want to seem like a piggy but I honestly wanted to sample all the flavors. Cute shop in the main touristy center in Lake Geneva. My parents and I grabbed some ice cream after lunch during our day trip recently. There was a short line to get in, but it moved quickly and they did a good job with social distancing and only letting a couple of people in at a time. It smelled amazing in the shop with all of the chocolates and ice cream. I got my mint chocolate chip in a waffle cone and man did it hit the spot! It was more creamy than icy, just how I like it. The scoop was big and had thick, chunky chips. My parents liked their cappuccino and pistachio flavors in the waffle bowl too. I didn't realize they have this chain in Chicago but I'll definitely be back knowing it's there! read more

The fudge was creamy and perfect. As good as Mackinac Island for sure. I tried a sample of the double dark and after that, nothing else would do, but the choc walnut is their most popular. The ice cream was made in house, smooth and super creamy. Toasted coconut was loaded with crunchy flavorful pieces. Cappuccino chip satisfied... the balance between coffee and sweet was perfect, and it was buttery and rich. A friend with a nut allergy had some sensitivity after the fudge knife cut walnut, and then her slice. If you are allergic, maybe watch that. Tables outside let you chillax and eat. You can watch the treats get made in the window. There are lots of unique packaged items you'll want to bring home, like big peanut butter cups and fancy carmel apples. This place has the ice cream spread out across probably 20 or 30 feet and they move along like cattle instead of allowing you to go look at all the ice creams and choose what you want, they try to make you stay in line in front of all the ice cream so you can't see anything once you've passed it. While you're trying to decide they keep asking you to move up, making it an even less pleasant experience. This place makes you feel unwelcome because of this. With this excursion to Lake Geneva, I learned something new about Kliwin's. It's a chain! I know about the stores in Geneva and Saint Charles Illinois. Now I know that you can travel throughout the United States and you will find a Kilwin's. This store is right in the middle of historic Lake Geneva. The store front is part of an historical building and proudly says so as one prepares to enter the building. You can tell the store is in Wisconsin because you will discover homemade fudge! The layout of the building is delightful. The moodle on the wall welcomes the visitors to Summer in Lake Geneva. The staff is great and the ice cream is flavorful and delightful. I asked for the paper cup. If you want you can order an eatable cone dish. So you can even eat the dishes! Check them out when you are in Lake Geneva. I can always count on Kilwins to deliver on the best treats for every Midwestern lakeside town I visit. We have a few locations in Chicago, but I've only been to this one in Lake Geneva and another in Michigan. I like to have Kilwins as my little treat for these summer mini trips! This time around, my friends and I were greeted with the option to try a slice of any fudge we wanted. I tried the salted caramel, and it was VERY high quality. Fudge is always too rich for me to enjoy beyond a tiny slice or chunk, so I didn't buy any, but my friends each took some home. What we were really there for was the ice cream, because it was a hot September Sunday. I tried the Banana Fudge Pie, and it was very delicious (a lot of banana and the perfect amount of chocolate in the one bite I tried!), but I ultimately went with a scoop of Marshmallow S'mores on a cone. I came to Lake Geneva during the ice sculpture event. As I walked in I saw quite a few people walking out with hot chocolate and whipped cream that looked so good! I thought it was helpful that they give free samples of the fudge flavors. I tried the cookies and cream, cherry Bordeaux, and the salted chocolate caramel. They were all very delicious and freshly made tasting, I was in the mood for the salted chocolate caramel so we took home a slice of that along with a pecan candy apple. They had quite a few candy apple flavors to choose from including: cheesecake, peanut, m&m, classic caramel, white chocolate, and a few others. They have so many delicious treats at Wilkin's. The fudge and candy apples tasted very fresh and I really enjoy coming here when I visit Lake Geneva. read more

So far this is my favorite gelato in the USA. Finding a good gelato here is not a easy task most of them are more ice cream than gelato (the real Italian thing).... but in this place you can find a good one! They have a fair price, delicious gelatos and chocolate. I won't talk about chocolate because I am not a big fan but it tasted very good to me. They also have very good milkshakes and koolers, which is basically gelato mixed with some Sprite! Try it, you won't regret. I had a kooler with lemon and strawberry gelato.... awesome! We entered because I was attracted the signs featuring ice cream. We toured around, saw the variety of ice creams, cones and candies and ended up buying some caramels. THEY WERE EXTRAORDINARY and we wish we bought more than just those few. Buttery, chewy and really fresh - huge as well. Each caramel was wrapped in its own see through wrapper and was at least 4 servings. The flavor was unbelievable. I wish we had tasted the ice cream,but of course there is the next time. Kilwin's is A-OK for fudge, decadent desserts, and ice cream in downtown Lake Geneva. The lines are out the door, and there must be a reason why. Most people crave the ice cream, but we shopped their dessert counter instead to avoid the long ice cream line. The caramel chocolate-striped Rice Krispie bar was to die for. We also tried the turtle one and the corn flakes cluster. I'm also glad I impulse grabbed two of their wrapped caramels, which were incredible, and big enough to share. The counter lady was appropriately nice, as these ladies work their tails off dealing with Chicago tourists all day (cut them some slack)!
