The store is a hole in the wall, which can be a great sign of being a local spot and not touristy. The guy at the counter was very friendly, but the prices are way too high. I tried the samples but nothing was worth the prices they were charging. I didn't buy anything but if you're looking to try different flavored cheeses, you'd probably find a good one here. read more

Cheese Box - Storefront - Cheese Shops Near Me - Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

We stopped in yesterday while in Lake Geneva. I saw it pop up on yelp and then we happened to drive by. I had to stop! There's ample parking right in front, so easy to pop on in real quick. The inside isn't very big, but they really pack in lots of stuff in there. The staff is so nice! They of course have a ton of assorted cheeses. I opted for cheese curds from one of the refrigerated areas. They also have an assortment of beers. Also as you check out, they have some samples on the counter for you! read more

If you want Wisconsin Cheese, you've come to the right place. This mom and pop shop, run by an awesome and inviting mom and pop, will treat you to a nice tour of cheeses crafted with Wisconsin pride. Only one cheese was from out of state, and that was their Iowa Maytag Bleu; their "one import," they joked. Still, there were a variety of cheeses to enjoy, most of which could be sampled. They also offer smoked salmon, sandwiches, and apparently a baller pea soup. We know this because another customer rolled in for some after calling ahead... for what was apparently the second day in a row. This little cheese bar that could, certainly does. By the time we left with our dairy treasures we barely made a dent in what they had to offer. We'll be back for sure. read more

Expensive charcuterie board average and small for 75 dollars. Better value and selection at Daniels in Walworth.

They do have a variety of cheeses that they make. They also offer free samples but the place is pretty small so not much room to have more than a few people. The staff is very friendly and helpful and are always willing to educate you on the different cheeses. read more

The Cheese Box is your one stop shop for cheese souvenirs. The shop sells local food and drink. They also provide samples of their featured cheeses. We picked up a mix of muenster, smoked cheddar and fruit filled cheeses. For a quick bite, they sell custom made sandwich boxes to go and their soup of the day. Don't miss the Cheese Box. It's a nice little side trip if you're in the area. read more

The name says it all. It's shaped like a box and it has a lot of cheese! Also, they sell foam cheeseheads here!

I stayed at the Grand Spa resort while visiting Lake Geneva. We did a little beer and cheese tasting. Someone asked a question about where to get cheese and this place (cheese box) was recommended. Well, a day later this Chicago gal was on the search for New Glarus Beer to take back across the state boarder.... and who would have known.. the Cheese box was RIGHT next door to the liquor store we chose. The outside gives you small town home vibes... like off the movies. lol The staff inside was SUPER kind and welcoming. A very nice lady helped me pick out the BEST smoked Monterrey jack I've ever had. Kind of sad I only purchased a smaller block... AND they sell some New Glarus beer as well in the shop! two for one! I'll def be back to get some more cheese! read more

The Cheese Box went above and beyond to help us celebrate my aunt's birthday! My aunt is in her 80's and doesn't get out as often as she used to but she has always adored The Cheese Box. For her birthday we ordered a selection of meats and cheeses to be delivered. The Cheese Box went above and beyond by putting the items in a beautiful gift box and calling us to make sure the delivery location was correct and that my aunt got her cheeses. We couldn't be happier with the outstanding and personalized service that they gave us. Thank you for helping to make our gift a special one! read more

This local family owned cheese shop is conveniently located in Lake Geneva. I was looking for string cheese on the rope and unfortunately they didn't have it but they have a variety of packaged cheese. They also offer sandwiches, hot soups, etc. It's a cute little shop. read more

this is a wonderful cheese shop plus sandwiches plus soup and they are very knowledgeable about the different cheeses. This has been around a very long time with a brief closing and then a new owner who decided to keep as it was and that is such a good thing a wonderful assortment of cheeses sausages, you name it! read more

Built my own tasty sandwich. DA BOMB!! Keep them simple because the FRESH bread and ingredients add alot of taste. I normally pick off the crust because I'm strange....but the urge never came because the bread was so soft!! Summer sausage is moist and flavorful, paired nicely with my favorite- the Pepper Munster Cheese. :) read more

This place is a hidden gem. Ordered delicious build-your-own sandwiches to-go (mine had turkey, swiss, and mayo on super fresh cranberry bread). Regretting only ordering one of their toffee fudge brownies, but looking forward to the brick of havarti and of cheddar cheese we picked up for later. When I visited they were just offering curbside pickup (due to Covid), but I'm excited to return and check out all their offerings in the shop once it's open! read more

One of the gems of Lake Geneva. Best sandwiches ever. And yummy soups and more! Family owned and operated with great pride. Don't miss an opportunity to stop here. read more

I got a chicken salad sandwich today on white bread, it came with a crappy pickle and a small container of potato salad. (Like a small condiment container.) That's all I got no drink chips, nothing. It was almost 13 dollars. This place is a rip off. And I'm used to Chicago prices. read more

Great choices and wonderful people . Plenty of samples to try and was offered anything we wanted to try. Was a little disappointed with the pierogi only because we thought they were homemade but were just a package of a prepackaged brand. read more

If grandma and grandpa had a shoppe, and needed folks to fund their retirement, THE CHEESE BOX would be that business. Talk about price gouging! It's fermented and aged milk with rennet enzymes. It's not gold and diamond jewelry. You eat it. Then, your bowels bind up and you deliver deer nugget-sized balls of fecal matter to the toilet bowl. Like a liquor store, vape shop or coffee house, the ADDICTION QUOTIENT is high. Research shows cheese is addictive in a way similar to drugs because of a chemical called "casein," and can trigger the brain's opioid receptors. The only product at this store that's worth considering is it's brick butter--NOT brick cheese--butter. The name should be changed to BUTTER BOX. Cheese Box sounds like a divisive euphemism for female yeast infections. Spent $28 on 19oz of constipation-inducing dairy dalliances with no Lactaid in sight. Samples are prevalent elsewhere, but not here. It's not called The Lunch Box, so don't expect big samples for free. read more

Had a fantastic sandwich (Serrano ham, artichoke pesto). They are very busy, but it is worth the wait!

Very good sandwiches. There is a table outside and you check the box for what you like. Fresh ingredients which were very satisfying and a fun selection of sodas! read more

We got the sandwiches from deli! Its was delicious! We also picked up some cheese! Staff was very friendly!

Interesting little shop. They have a bunch of tasty treats inside, and you can go in and pick out what you want then call in the order for your sandwich and they'll bring it all out to you together. We got two sandwiches one with roast beef and braunschweiger, the other with turkey and roast beef. On both accounts they were solid components, but like pretty standard sandwiches. You pick your ingredients and they just make it up for you. They have a really good system for Covid though, limiting the amount of people in the store and you just call in your order and they bring it out to a table. read more

Stopped in on a saturday while i was in LG. read good reviews figured id give em a try. Lets just say i went back sunday before leaving back to chicago. The cranberry bread is amazing!!! also they have stale bread chips that paired with the garlic cheese i got was magical!! The 1 problem i had was my daughter got just a cheese sandwich on white bread and they charged me the same as my fully loaded sandwich. I didnt realize till i was on the road or else i wouldve questioned the reasoning behind that move otherwise this is a MUST stop location while in LG read more

Cheese Box - cranberry bread! roast beef and ham - Cheese Shops Near Me - Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

HELLO, I LOVED THIS PLACE. A friend of mine showed a group of us Chicago girls around the Fontana/Lake Geneva area recently, because she grew up in Wisconsin. A week before we hit the road, she sent us the sandwich menu from the Cheese Box, because we were going to place a pick-up order for our first day. Just from looking at the menu, I knew I'd love this spot! We arrived right around the time we said we would, and our sandwich boxes were cold and ready. I love how they packaged each box with a little sheet that checked off exactly what we ordered, so we could see that everything we asked for was indeed perfectly placed inside. As for the shop, it is adorable inside and out! There are tons of local cheeses and other foods to purchase, along with Wisconsin beer and souvenirs. On the counter is a plate with cheeses and sausage to sample! The staff is very sweet, too. When in the Lake Geneva area, make sure to stop by the Cheese Box for souvenirs, beer, or some lunch. read more

Nice selection of cheeses. Don't hesitate to ask for a recommendation. And the sandwiches are very good.

Great place to do Christmas shopping for friends and relatives who live in different states. They have a good selection of gift boxes or they can create a customized one for you. They will ship your gift box which is very convenient. The staff is friendly and helpful. read more

This is a cute cheese shop about 5 minutes outside of the town of Lake Geneva. They have a great variety of cheeses, in addition to crackers, chips, condiments, beer and soft drinks. The staff were very friendly and eager to offer samples. They had many on display so it was hard to choose, but I decided on some smoked Gouda and a spicy mustard. They apparently have lunch specials too. Something was cooking that smelled really good! I'm so glad we found this place; it will be a must on future visits. read more

I am a Lake Geneva native, who has recently returned after a 27 year absence. I can not tell you how delighted I was to see the historic Cheese Box still alive and kickin in its same timeless location. I went to have a box lunch on a friends recommendation, and I have to say that my expectations were far exceeded! Their smoked brisket bbq sandwich on a pretzel roll was good enough to smack the lone star straight outta the Texas sky. Definitely make this place a destination whenever you find yourself in the Geneva area! Treat yourself to some authentic Wisconsin cheese curds while you're there. Your taste buds will thank you for it! read more

Hole in the wall! Walked in looked around and walked out. Not clean. This area needs an outlet for good Wisconsin cheese.

Cheese shop with deli and other local fare. Friendly and attentive employees happy to help and provide samples so you get just what you want. The place shows it's age adding to the vintage style. Worth a visit if you are in the fence. There's bound to be so that will satisfy a craving in there. read more

Yaaaasssssss!!!! Friend took us here while in Lake Geneva. Delicious sandwich and some Dang root beer. And the cheese curds- amazing!!! Very kind employees. Small inside so you're taking it to go. Definitely a place to check out. Oh- and I snagged some New Glarus beer too! read more

Super friendly and wonderful cheeses. Very small, not sure about the etiquette of ordering cheeses or how to pick. Wish they had a few more samples and knowledge of the cheeses, however, the people working the counter were very helpful and kind in explaining the cheeses. I passed through as were were only in Lake Geneva for the weekend. My only Complaint would be the place is so small and there is no where to move. BUT sometimes the small places are the BEST PLACES! read more

Great sandwiches and huge selection of meats and cheeses. A must try when in Lake Geneva.

My husband asked me to pick up cheese curds as a souvenir since he didn't come with on our weekend. This store looks like a hole in the wall, but is a charming step in the past...the staff there was very helpful since I did not have a clue what to buy! They gave us recommendations on their personal favorites. They were all very welcoming and nice... even when my 85-year old Mom accidentally picked up the whole cup of samples and started eating it without using the toothpicks!!! OOPS LOL! The 8 oz beef summer sausage was excellent. I should've gotten the larger option! I haven't tried the horseradish Jack cheese or the Swiss smoky cheddar 1/2 lb blocks yet. We're currently working our way through the 2 cheese spreads; port wine & horseradish...recommended by the lady behind the counter & they are delicious. I'll definitely be stopping back up here the next time we are in town & probably spend twice as much..but it's sooo worth it! read more

This store was SO friendly and exactly what we had in mind to check CHEESE off of our Wisconsin bucket list. It's a great stop on the way home to pick up some cheese and sausage. They have a wide variety of cheeses. read more

Excellent cheese shop. They will ship gift boxes for you also. Good deli sandwiches also.

The cheese box has been a standard in lake Geneva for years. Under new ownership of some great people. I recommend cheese box because not only my experience but the locals as well are bringing back places like this. The new owners previously had a place in Genoa city that we dearly miss as we would frequent every week. The sandwiches are the bomb. read more
