The wait wasn't too bad, we killed the time by checking out a few stores nearby! The place is small and tight! So I offered to walk our shopping bags back to our Airbnb. So glad I did!! As a table we shared the Brussels sprouts and cheese curds! The Brussels were amazing! The Korean BBQ sauce the use was great!! The cheese curds were good, but the best I've ever had!! Like I mentioned before the mockingbird sandwich was perfect. The chicken was perfectly cooked, juiced, hot and fresh! I'd skip on the season fries, unless you're a cumin lover. My friend got the BLT which was a bit disappointing for her, only 3 pieces of super thin (think Tyson) bacon, and the guacamole it comes with is def from a cup, tastes like cleaning products! I walk in to sit at the bar for lunch and there are not many empty seats so I see the bartender and ask if the seat at the end of the bar is available. She says sit down and moves a pair of gloves that belong to the woman next to me. So I sit down and get ready to order when, the woman next to me taps me on the shoulder and says she's saving the seat for someone who will be here soon so I'll have to get up... The bartender looks at her, then looks and me and shrugs her shoulders... Glad I didn't pay the meter before I sat down. I didn't know you could group up and reserve seats at the bar before your party is there. My bad. Now I know. I should have made reservations... for the bar stool... Visited Flat Iron Tap on the Saturday of 4th of July weekend. As expected, the area was packed and the restaurant was busy. The place has a cozy, casual atmosphere; kinda reminds me of a biker bar. That said, seating is tight. There are only two tables that can accommodate a group of six, which was a bit disappointing given how busy Lake Geneva gets. Larger parties should plan accordingly. The appetizers were the highlight of our visit. We ordered the cheese curds, wonton mozzarella sticks, chips & guacamole, and bleu buffalo potato skins. All were good, but the bleu buffalo potato skins really stood out to me --easily the best I've had anywhere. Great flavor, swimming amount of buffalo sauce, and not spicy. (I'd love to feel some heat). For my main dish, I went with the Flat Iron Patty Melt burger with homemade chips after hearing great things from others in my group about how good the burgers were. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. The burger lacked seasoning and flavor, and the chips didn't do much either. Next time, I'd skip the burger and just stick to the appetizers. One bright spot of the visit was our server, Paige. She was fantastic--upbeat, personable, and attentive, even with how busy it was. She does her job well. I cannot believe that after years of coming to Lake Geneva I missed that adored by the locals hidden gem! If you love the local Wisconsin dishes made from the quality ingredients and the welcoming vibe, you are at the right place! My Pinn Oak Ridge Farms Ground Lamb burger with Hill Valley Dairy garlic dill white cheddar, arugula, pickled red onions & garlic aioli with a toasted pretsel bun on the side was full of flavor and absolutely amazing. Wow! Just excellent all around! I had the Jack Sparrow (salmon, potatoes) and my son had the Nashville (bbq pork sandwich with fries). This wasn't just average food done well...it was way beyond that! Also, the service was excellent. We got there just in time on a Wednesday night...5;30p. Stopped on a Saturday around 3:30. It was a packed house, but the wait was only about 5 minutes to get a table outside. Started with the Brussels, very good! They had a little kick. I had the Italian beef and my sister had the chicken sandwich. Both were really good! A word of advice, get a side of the garlic aioli to dip your fries in, it's amazing!! Our waitress was great! This is probably my favorite restaurant in the Lake Geneva area hands down. Their food is always fresh and they have a great selection of burgers PLUS their salads and apps are just as good. Went here on a Sunday afternoon. It's a tiny restaurant but it's so well decorated and the space is so thought out. Awesome atmosphere. The food was incredible. I ordered the Van Helsing for $14. Well worth the price. Arguably the best burger I've ever had. The pretzel bun was a nice touch. Staff was polite and attentive. Definitely a return trip. Stopped here once on our trip and had a great burger and salad with my wife. The seasoned fries were surprisingly good. The staff was friendly. I would have eaten here a second time on Sunday afternoon, but I got a $30 ticket after parking in what I thought was a free parking lot behind the adjoining businesses on the Main Street. I ended up stopping by Culver's on the way home to make up for the $30 charged by the greedy city of Lake Geneva. If the business owner reads this, please help do something about the outrageous parking fees in your city. Maybe a warning would have been nice instead of a ticket, or free parking during winter months on a Sunday. It cost you $60-70 in business this time, and has me looking elsewhere for our next weekend trip. read more

Flat Iron has the best food in Lake Geneva. This tiny, "would be dive bar" has fantastic food including, Okinawa Salad (sesame crusted ahi), Stawberry Fields Salad, other salads by season, fried brussel sprouts, all different burgers, fries or chips. Their menu is varied and we can't wait to try other things but we keep ordering the above because it is so good. The place is small - silly small. They have live music on Thursdays, which is often wonderful and varied, but then it's even smaller. The kitchen where the poor slaves must cook is punishingly small. I feel for them and can't believe what they can produce in that small space. Drink prices are typical for Lake Geneva but no deal. read more

Survived tornadoes here. In town for a work conference on a spring weeknight, this was the best of the choices open at what seemed like a reasonable hour of 7-8pm! We sat at a two top table. The back door was open a few feet behind me. It didn't take long before tornado sirens were going off. I said to my friend as I kept noticing the service staff heading downstairs, "There are stairs to a basement right behind you and I'm not going out in this to find our hotel." So in the spirit of spending time, and what I order any time I see it on a menu (because I also buy it at the grocery and make it at home), is the Bavarian pretzel from Milwaukee Pretzel Company. It was prepared properly, crispy and salty on the outside with a soft interior. Flat Iron Tap bills itself as having Lake Geneva's best gourmet burgers. This is a scratch kitchen so be prepared for big, beefy, juicy burgers. All the types and toppings available. Service was prompt and friendly. I do wonder if we would have been asked to exit if we had not exited. Other customers weren't really leaving either as closing time approached. Flat Iron Tap stands out in my memory in Lake Geneva as much for riding out the storms that had been touching down around Lake Geneva as we were there as for its food. I went here over the winter to see the ice sculptures in Lake Geneva. I like the fact it's off the beaten path and not touristy but still very busy nonetheless. While it is a bit cozy in there everything was fantastic from start to finish and definitely worth the wait! Once seated, the interior is certainly deceiving as it seems just like an overly crowded dive bar with interesting 2000s music choices. However, the locally sourced and crafted food was the main event. There's a chalkboard that shows where all the meat comes from which is cool! I had the strawberry margarita and Paloma with my meal as well, and these were both great. My boyfriend ordered a cocktail from the craft cocktail menu that came in a can, which was disappointing and funny to see everyone's reaction. We started with the Brussels sprouts, which were deliciously sweet in a sauce and a large portion. I shared the ahi tuna salad and the salmon cuddy. Both were delicious and huge! Did a day trip to lake Geneva this weekend and was able to stop at flat iron tap. I saw this place on tik tok and it also had stellar reviews on Yelp and I now understand why! The food was fantastic! They use all products from Wisconsin and the chicken and beef they use is all super high quality! I got an ahi tuna salad which was fantastic but their burgers looked amazing. The staff was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. It was a little slow to get our food but was also very busy so it was understandable. They don't have outdoor seating really and their inside is small so if you have a large group expect to wait. I am definitely adding this on the list of places to go back to! read more
