The Plain Jane Burger at Flat Iron Tap

We dined at the Flat Iron Tap for a Saturday lunch. The host almost immediately gave us a wonderful two-seater by the street window. We enjoyed the ambience inside the restaurant and the care-free life outside. We ordered the Plain Jane Burger with pickles, onions, and lettuce. We also ordered the homemade chips and coleslaw. The waitress was very friendly and conscientious, even though she had multiple tables to serve. In a word (or two) - outstanding restaurant! Usually, there is a wait, and if you have one, it is well worth it.

Great food at Flat Iron Tap - I don't even think you can call it "bar food" honestly despite it being mostly sandwiches, salads, and appetizers. The burgers are legit, the chicken is cooked perfectly, and the appetizer menu is very unique. The other thing that stands out at this bar is the service. Mark put together a great staff, and you'll get great service no matter who waits on you (shout out to Peyton). It's a smaller spot, that reminds me of the small neighborhood bars around Chicago. You can't go wrong with any of the food on the menu, I love the smoked chicken wings (the homemade blue cheese dressing is the best I've ever had). They should consider selling this at a commercial level. I don't give a lot of "bars" 5 stars reviews, but Flat Iron Tap deserves it.

Really fun little place just off the lake. Service was excellent and they were very helpful. Great variety of food and we enjoyed our meals. Good local beer options. We will be back soon!

Visited Flat Iron Tap on the Saturday of 4th of July weekend. As expected, the area was packed and the restaurant was busy. The place has a cozy, casual atmosphere; kinda reminds me of a biker bar. That said, seating is tight. There are only two tables that can accommodate a group of six, which was a bit disappointing given how busy Lake Geneva gets. Larger parties should plan accordingly. The appetizers were the highlight of our visit. We ordered the cheese curds, wonton mozzarella sticks, chips & guacamole, and bleu buffalo potato skins. All were good, but the bleu buffalo potato skins really stood out to me --easily the best I've had anywhere. Great flavor, swimming amount of buffalo sauce, and not spicy. (I'd love to feel some heat). For my main dish, I went with the Flat Iron Patty Melt burger with homemade chips after hearing great things from others in my group about how good the burgers were. Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed. The burger lacked seasoning and flavor, and the chips didn't do much either. Next time, I'd skip the burger and just stick to the appetizers. One bright spot of the visit was our server, Paige. She was fantastic--upbeat, personable, and attentive, even with how busy it was. She does her job well. Overall, Flat Iron Tap is a fun little spot with great apps, a unique bar vibe, and excellent service. Just be aware of the limited seating, and maybe don't go just for the burgers.

The Flat Mac with French fries. A+ !

I cannot believe that after years of coming to Lake Geneva I missed that adored by the locals hidden gem! If you love the local Wisconsin dishes made from the quality ingredients and the welcoming vibe, you are at the right place! My Pinn Oak Ridge Farms Ground Lamb burger with Hill Valley Dairy garlic dill white cheddar, arugula, pickled red onions & garlic aioli with a toasted pretsel bun on the side was full of flavor and absolutely amazing. My daughter's The Flat Mac with American cheese, tomato, pickles, mixed greens, and special sauce on a toasted brioche bun was excellent! Her French fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The bartender Mark made us delicious Yuzu Drop Martinis. His warm and professional service contributed to the overall great dinner experience . I cannot wait to come back! I highly recommend!

Don't let the small location scare you away or you will definitely miss out we almost did. We all got burgers and a Blt and the burgers were the best I have had anywhere! The freshness and flavor were so perfect I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for somewhere in the area. I also have to mention the gentleman bussing tables was so quick and so polite.

Stopped on a Saturday around 3:30. It was a packed house, but the wait was only about 5 minutes to get a table outside. Started with the Brussels, very good! They had a little kick. I had the Italian beef and my sister had the chicken sandwich. Both were really good! A word of advice, get a side of the garlic aioli to dip your fries in, it's amazing!! Our waitress was great! I will definitely stop again next time I'm in the area.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in the Lake Geneva area hands down. Their food is always fresh and they have a great selection of burgers PLUS their salads and apps are just as good. They even work with local farms, no wonder everything tastes so great! Our favorite thing we ordered was the Van Helsing burger with sweet caramelized onions and garlic aioli. Also I love the motorcycle vibe of the restaurant and it's right in the heart of downtown. Our server was so friendly and helpful--even switching out my mom's beer when she wasn't the biggest fan. Also they will cook a plain chicken breast for pups. Yes, the patio is dog friendly!

Went here on a Sunday afternoon. It's a tiny restaurant but it's so well decorated and the space is so thought out. Awesome atmosphere. The food was incredible. I ordered the Van Helsing for $14. Well worth the price. Arguably the best burger I've ever had. The pretzel bun was a nice touch. Staff was polite and attentive. Definitely a return trip. They were very accommodating to my dairy allergy which was wonderful.

Cheese curds are a must! Great staff and food. 100% recommend! Uses a bunch of local farms and beef tallow for fries.

Service is below par, burgers well over hyped. Cheese curds are their saving grace. Burgers are othing special imo. Plenty of better places.

Ask the Community - Flat Iron Tap

Is it all high tops or are there any tables or booths?

There are a small number of regular height tables and booths as well as high tops.

    Is this kid friendly?

I'd say probably not. It's super busy and very small. The food is fantastic tho. Worth the 45 minute wait

Ambiance: Ambiance and restaurant decor was one of the highlights of the night in my opinion. Lots of neat items and decor - interesting glasses, art, couches/chairs, leather menus, etc. Food: We had the Peruvian chicken wings and the wagyu beef tacos. I thought the Peruvian chicken wing dish was quite good - 9/10. The chicken was very flavorful and the salad was a decent size and tasted good. The wagyu tacos in my opinion was underwhelming for sure. It really tasted like pretty bland meat and the tortilla chips on the side were almost guaranteed straight from a bag (Aldi blue corn tortilla chips if I had to guess ). I wouldn't personally recommend the tacos. If I were to go again, I'd get the chicken wings again, and get the hangover salad instead of the tacos. Drinks: We had the coconut cocktail, the cucumber cocktail, and I had a beer from Nicaragua. All were tasty, albeit definitely lacking punch, i.e. I couldn't actually tell you with a fact if they contained alcohol. The Nicaraguan beer was super light and I liked it. There was a beer from Czechia but it was out of stock.
