Shouldn't matter WHEN you go to a 24/7 establishment, should it? Their donuts should always be fresh, but unfortunately not the case here. I don't remember who recommended this place or maybe it's their great Yelp rating that got me to bookmark it, but not a fan... She threw in some NOT SO FRESH donut holes, which were not edible. Tried a unique pastry that looked good, but also not fresh. The custard inside was crusty where it had touched the air. I always try a plain glazed when I try a new shop, but she must not have heard me order one as I didn't get it. I usually base my review on their plain glazed, so in this case I based it on the stale holes. Sorry Simon. Not a fan. read more

I'm really disappointed and honestly shocked by the customer service my sister and I experienced tonight. This has been our go-to spot for years, but after this visit, I don't think we'll be back. After I ordered my ice cream, my sister stepped up to order, but we couldn't understand the older woman working there because she was speaking through her mask. I tried to clarify what was said, thinking she told us there was no more ice cream, when out of nowhere she snapped at me saying, "I was not talking to you, I'm talking to her"--and she said it TWICE. I was stunned. I wasn't trying to interrupt or be rude--I was simply confused and trying to help clarify for my sister. The tone, the attitude, and the blatant disrespect were embarrassing and honestly unnecessary. No customer should ever be talked to like that, especially when they're trying to understand. I've never had an experience like this here before, but it was enough to make us both uncomfortable and ready to leave. It's disappointing to see a place we've supported for so long treat customers this way. Management really needs to address this behavior--there's no excuse for it. read more

Also make sure you ask to warm up your cronuts. Not only their donuts are great and yummy, their donuts are priced fairly reasonable. Try their matcha Thai tea too! It's good! Lots of parking onsite. I would say their slanted parking is way better to get in and out due to tight space. Inside is simple. Few tables but that's about it. A new yelp friend informed me that Simone's participates in a food waste prevention cause and showed me photos of a box of donuts she got very cheap through the food waste prevention app. (called Too Good to Go) The location is just across the street from the yelp event we were out so I decided to give them a try afterwards. From the specialty donuts, the chocolate toffee looked good and I typically like to get blueberry donuts. Another item I tried was the cream cream cheese croissant. A bit too sweet for me but tasty nonetheless. I had made the purchases in the afternoon so I was not expecting super fresh. Still kinda tasty. Saved the chocolate toffee for the hubby and he also said it was a good donut. Although it was from the section of the fancier donuts, it was a steal at $2. This donut shop is busy as it is an award winning one with the local Long Beach press. The cashier I got was a no-nonsense/let's keep this line going type that did not do much smiling. There are seats and tables available to enjoy your goodies. Just think typical mom and pop donut shop. I don't really frequent donut shops much these days but, when I do it is usually for lotto tickets or something savory like bagels w/cream cheese, or coffee. I don't recall them selling lotto tockets here. If I was in the area again, I probably would not come back but, I do applaud them for their efforts in fighting against food waste. read more

I had the Cronut, Tiger Tail, and an Apple Fritter. I took one bite of each just to experience them because I was trying not to eat 3 large donuts in one sitting, but oh my God, definitely worth the hype. The apple fritter had a distinct extra vibe of warm cinnamon that set it apart from othe apple fritters I have had. It tastes like they really thought about the recipe and didn't just throw it together with a bunch of glaze and apple filling. It tasted like fall, warm fireplaces, and cider, and that is pretty amazing for a $2 donut. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Next up was the Cronut, which I feared would be overly buttery because of the layers and lamination, but surprisingly it wasn't. Just light and fluffy like a glazed old fashioned on steroids, in a good way. This is the one I had to stop myself from finishing. By the time I got to the tiger tail, I was pretty spent so I think it didn't get a fair shot. Definitely fluffy with a thin icey layer of glaze rather than a thick crust. The whole thing was very delicate and satisfying without being super sweet. I would have to come back and get it alone when I wasn't already on a sugar high. The last thing I will say is value. With all the press and love this place has been getting recently, the prices are very humble. I got 3 huge donuts for $6.25 out the door. That is like 1 donut plus tax over at Knead Donuts. Service was fast and friendly and this was at 9:30pm on. Sat. night. 5 stars all around! read more

But hey some folks might really like that! 1. Tiger tail - my go to donut anywhere so I've had many. This locations tiger tail was up there! Good yeast donut with nice crispy cinnamon layer. However, it was way better the morning after when some of the icing melted off lol 2. Apple fritter was another favorite we had tonight but again, better day after when some of the icing melted off. Could've used more apple but it was still decent. 3. Jalapeno ham n cheese - it was good but you can tell the ham quality wasn't great. Maybe it has been frozen too long? Everything else tasted great from the croissant to the cheese and the jalapeno. The ham was the only issue here. 4. Blueberry cake donut - too much icing again.. see the pattern? 5. Maple old fashion - this donut was a fail. The maple glaze was so think you couldn't really bite through the whole donut. On top of that, it was overwhelming the small delicate old fashion donut. On the other hand maybe it helped? Cuz the donut itself taste old and stale. Our service tonight was great, the lady was patient with us and bagged everything separately. Open 247 hours. Many locals go here. Came on a Friday 7pm had a mini line. Parking lot can get full. They offer classic flavors in the pink box. I didn't love the donuts, wasn't fresh enough for my taste, I dunno. Maybe I came on an off evening for the chef? I wanted to love them, it's not common for late evening hours for donut places around here and staff is friendly. One of the best donut/croissant places in South East LA County. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, is freshly made. Even though they warm up the croissants by popping them in the microwave, I can taste the warm fluffiness inside the croissants and the crispy exterior! This place does get really busy, but they work pretty quick! Sundays are especially crazy, so just take note of that. I'd say the only place that makes better donuts is Cassidy's Corner Cafe. However, they don't make as many as Simone's does though. read more

I never met a doughnut i didn't like! This place has them all too. Seems like a large portion of doughnut shops around town close early. What about those late night cravings?!? This place will satisfy them for you. Unassuming store front. If you didn't know the doughnuts were there, you would pass it. Parking isn't the best along this busy street. There is quite a variety of doughnuts all the time. I haven't tried the other items on the menu but they look they would hit the spot. Service is good. I think the owners work there too. It was nice to see the kids eyes light up when we opened the boxes. The kids went after them in a shark feeding frenzy fashion . Highly recommend. The donuts were very fresh and tasty.
