I stopped here in a whim as I was driving by... it's not only donuts; there are a lot of options as far as sandwiches and bagels go. I got an apple fritter and chocolate bar. They were very fresh! They were both good but I wouldn't say I loved them and I've had better. There are not a lot of donut shops in Signal Hill. This one is in LB and close. i remembered this shop as i patronized other establishments in the small plaza. Upon walking in it's very much like a little store, they seem to have everything from Bagels, donuts, beverages Siracha sauce down and Diabetes health packs on the counter as your check out. I arrived at about 9:30a and the showcase was not full but they had what i generally get. oh, i was greeted when i came in. ordered a cinnamon roll $3.00 and a glazed twist $2.00. the cinnamon roll was on the smaller side in my opinion and the twist was the same size as other twists i have enjoyed at other donut shops. The cinnamon roll was ok. it was dry and not a lot of flavor. I was no hungry i didn't take a pic of the cinnamon roll. oops. I am guessing the glazed twist will be ok. I've been coming to this donut shop for years, and it has truly become one of my favorite spots. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a clean and welcoming atmosphere. I stopped in early in the morning and the first thing i noticed was the large menu selection. They are located in a small strip plaza and have parking out front. Not only do they have donuts, they also have bagels, croissants, breakfast and lunch sandwiches. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese that totaled $4 (50'cent card transaction fee added). I also got a free donut with check in. The bagel tasted like one that you would get from Costco. They heated it which lends to freshness, which at that price point I would expect. The donut on the other hand was very good. I will go back and try sandwich and update my review after. The woman serving me was very polite This is really a to go spot. Oohhh. I stopped here for a breakfast sandwich on my way through the area and was pretty repelled after biting into a cooked egg where the yolk was hard and dark green. I found it difficult to palate, even though the croissant making up the sandwich was good. I also got a doughnut to go. Nothing fancy! Just a nice little sprinkle doughnut. Standard fare and not too shabby. Light and fluffy. Definitely more of a doughnut place than other kinds of foods... but YMMV. read more

Tried this place for the first time, my boyfriend wanted to find a new donut shop on his way to work. At our usual shop, we get the ham and cheese croissant, so when we walked in and they had (on the ready, mind you) ham/egg/bacon/sausage/cheese croissant...we were immediately sold. And it did not disappoint. Really tasty and filling. And the price was only about $1.50 more than our usual ham and cheese, so that was a no brainer. My boyfriend especially liked that they offered Ban Mi and other sandwiches that he could order and have later for lunch. It was quite busy when we went, but the two ladies working were fast and tentative. Only downside is the parking...when its busy, the small lot is full. Visited on 5/21/2020: Referred here by my co-worker. Ordered ahead via phone. Order: pastrami, egg, cheese and bacon croissant w/o the bacon and cheese. Customizing is allowed as I also added ez mayo, mustard, spinach, tomato and pickles. Went in to pick-up my order and it was hot and waiting for me. They advertise that all items come with a free donut. Which I thought was a nice gesture. However, after getting my food and paying I was asked what type of donut I wanted. When I inquired about the donut that comes with any purchase the lady looked at me confusingly. So, I showed her their business advertisement and then she regained herself and asked which kind I would like... maybe she forgot... not sure. FREE DONUT WITH CHECK IN!! I got the lemon buttermilk and it was amazing! Fresh, tasty, perfectly fried, very very good and FREE! They have a big selection of cronuts, I went with the pecan coconut which fell a bit flat. Literally, it looked squished, the filling not as great as it sounds, fine but I have had better. So they don't quite have the cronut down, but the buttermilk bar was excellent, I'll be back and stick to simpler things next time, much better value to boot. read more

My family and I love this place! Their croissant breakfast sandwiches are really good and hearty. Donut selection is simple and standard. Their ice coffee is delicious! I get their iced mocha coffee (not blended) and it tastes like a combo of Vietnamese coffee/mocha/donut shop coffee, it's sublime. Must try. You want donuts, smoothie, a Vietnamese sandwich (the name escapes me), a can of clam chowder and a notary? You've come to the right place. This is pretty much my go-to spot for playing Scratcher-type lottery games, as I've found 7-Elevens get a bit too busy and don't pull the tickets when they're out of a game (they also get annoyed about my one-ticket-at-a-time play). Mom-n-Pop places are much better, as they actually appreciate your business; Donut Island is great as they have their ticket dispensers mounted on wall, so you can kinda tell which games they have (just tell them the name of game, the denomination and the game number since a few of the games are similar). I've run into a few Lotto or Scratcher players and have been doing OK (one week won $50 on a $3 game but then lost net $50 on a $10 game..it happens). They also had a $3.5 million dollar winner so the check is prominently displayed.
