Healthy fast food for a good value in the heart of Aspen. My husband and I stopped in for a quick dinner. He ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos, based on the Yelp reviews, which were very tasty and well presented. We loved the Siebert rice bowl with salmon! For Aspen, this place is extremely cheap and the food is really good. The burgers in particular are incredible and I would highly recommend them. It gets 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons though: 1.) the grilled vegetables side was gross - it was full of water and was 90% zucchini and cucumbers. It was not appetizing to me at all but maybe that was my mistake for ordering grilled veggies at a spot like this and/or maybe I just had the wrong expectations for what would be in this side. 2.) my burger, even though it was delicious overall, was missing the grilled jalapenos and fried egg that I asked for and paid extra for. I'm sure I could have gone up and requested a new burger, but I was in a hurry and didn't feel like waiting for them to re-do my order. In any case, the jalapenos and egg were both on my receipt and I was eating by myself so there isn't really any excuse for the order to be incomplete. read more

My rating my be affected by the fact that this was a second choice for us... Had my heart set on someplace else that was closed. Also, the total for my family of 5 was $62.... Kind of steep for a walk up & order place, but that's just Aspen I guess. I had the veggie burger with the kale & quinoa salad as my side. Salad was tasty & I was trying to stick with healthier options. Veggie burger wasn't my fave. Their rendition includes pinto beans in addition to black beans, but the pinto beans were what I noticed most and i just didn't care for much. Hubby got the veggie pita/sandwich. It was pretty good but he thought it was a little get on the zucchini and yellow squash. My son got a chicken burger and thought it was good - he'd rate it 4-stars. My girls both got the ordered the Achiote Chicken and thought it was pretty good. I am so glad I came in here for a quick lunch! So good I came here twice during our 3 night stay in Aspen! The chicken tortilla soup is deliciousssssss! It even comes with avocado slices and a warm tortilla on the side to dip in your soup like us Latinos do! The carne asada tacos were great as well! So I stumbled this place from Yelp and a lot of people are saying they have really good food. From a rate of 4.5 stars, I just had to try the place. Aspen, being one of the famous destinations of Colorado, has very expensive restaurants around. But this place offered more than very good food. The lady, I am not sure if she was the owner, was very friendly and welcoming. She even sat down with us to get to know us a little bit more. Something I think is important to connect with your customers. She is very accomodating to our needs and very courteous to everyone. The food. They are a treat to your palate. I ordered cobb salad and I could tell thay they didnt become stingy with ingredients (attached are my photos). My husband had the Angus beef burger with onion rings on the side. Burger was delightful and very tasty. This place is definitely a must try. Our first visit to Aspen is indeed lovely. People are very helpful and nice. After reading so many reviews of folks raving about the bacon infused burgers I was excited to stop by and try one for myself. Only for the burger to come out and have bacon on top instead of in the patty. I let the guy that brought it out know that I had ordered the infused burger and instead of apologizing and offering to correct the mistake he said "oh but it's better that way trust me". I let him know that that is not what I ordered and paid for he then said that he could cook more bacon for me to put on my burger. Again, no that's not what I ordered nor what I paid for. He then said "well then what would you want me to do? Make you a new one?"....that's what should have happened from the get go. At this point my husbands burger was getting cold and I was frustrated so I just ate my disappointing plain old burger that I couldn't have gotten literally anywhere in the US, but not before going up and asking for my chipotle mayo that they also forgot to add. 520 Grill, located in a basement beneath the streets of Aspen is simple and effective, but deserves the modest 3 star review. The menu is vast but there is clear favoritism towards their burgers. I chose the angus beef cheeseburger, topped with lettuce, chipotle mayo, and sided with french fries. Overall solid but the bun gave the impression it was coming of age due to its parallel qualities with the common rock. Was difficult to chew and left my jaw exhausted and my satisfaction unfulfilled. The fries were not good, yet I was the outlier when I asked my table mates. They all enjoyed the soft, salty, short fries... I prefer mine crispier. I suggest this joint if you have been everywhere else in Aspen but I would not make it a point of interest considering the other quality quick bite establishments located within a nine iron of the 520 Grill. read more

520 Grill is probably the most underrated restaurant in Aspen. It has glowing reviews, but I never hear it mentioned by anyone, local or non-local. And when you look at the pics and realize it's in the basement of an office building with zero ambiance, it kind of takes the excitement out of it and you sort of question the reviews. Well, let me tell you, the 4.5-star average review is Right on Point! We LOVED this place and we found it by accident for dinner. Wasn't like anyone told us about it or we had heard about it, or did an extensive Yelp search or were highly anticipating coming here. In fact, we still had our ski clothes on and wanted something casual, and when we walked by the sign on Cooper Street, my brother's kids got excited by the burger pics. So I looked it up on Yelp, saw the 4.5-stars but was skeptical, but went in anyway....and were more than pleasantly surprised! Here's all you need to know...Bison B+B Burger!! Let me say that again...the BISON B+B BURGER!!! They chop up bacon and mix it in with the bison meat and then make a patty out of it. I wasn't sure if it would be that good, but it was better than good, it was Great! As Bison meat is pretty lean and somewhat dry, the bacon evens it out and adds flavor. I don't think it would be as good with a regular (cow) beef patty though as it might be too fatty. But with the Bison meat, it works fantastically well! The fries (both Regular and Sweet Potato) were very good, and I'm not even a huge potato guy. And surprisingly, the chips & salsa were great as well as the homemade potato chips. Oh, and the hot dog! But the chicken tacos and the pulled pork sandwich were just Ok, in my opinion. So, stick with the BISON B+B BURGER and you'll be happy! I'm so glad we came here; it was one of the best meals of our trip! 520 Grill is located on the lower level of an office building off East Cooper Street. There are only a handful of tables here, as well as an outdoor patio. You order and pay at the counter, they'll call out your number, and you pick up your food. Simple, fast, casual. After perusing their menu, I knew I just had to get the bison burger ($9.60). It's served on a toasted bun with lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, cheese, and house sauce. My dad got the same thing as me, and my mom ordered the kale and quinoa salad ($8.92) and the soup of the day (chicken tortilla). It was my first time trying bison, and I have to say it was really good. It's very lean and nicely marbled. The flavor is just as satisfying as a beef burger, but it's lighter and slightly sweet. Great texture and wonderful flavors. The chicken tortilla soup was also really good, perfect for the rainy afternoon. Staff is friendly and efficient. Prices are very reasonable.
