I usually get their Tonkatsu or Shoyu ramen. The broth of the Tonkatsu is thicker and creamier, whereas the Shoyu is more soy sauced based. Can't go wrong with either! My favorite dish here is the Chicken Rice Bowl, which comes with boneless chicken thighs, a soft boiled egg, and green onions on a bed of white rice. The egg is always so perfectly boiled--I love having the yolk ooze onto the rice for a creamier texture. I've also tried their pork buns (steamed bao, marinated pork belly, pickled onions and hoisin sauce), which were okay but I wouldn't get them again. I definitely want to check them out in-person to see all their awards and recognitions (featured on the Michelin guide, OC Weekly, etc.)!

They have a bunch of options for toppings to enhance the ramen and it's served in a deep bowl so you're getting a good amount. The space is on the smaller side so you'll usually have to put your name down and wait a bit before getting seated. It's not the most authentic Japanese ramen but it's worth checking out.

The restaurant is small, with the register counter as the first thing you see walking through the door. There's bar seating against the wall, and 2-3 tables for groups of maybe 4-6 people. The lady manning the front counter as well as taking orders and serving was fantastic. Very friendly and checked up on all tables through out the night. For ramen, my bf got the Tonkotsu ($1 extra for spicy), and I got the Mayu. I see why it has such high reviews, both were delicious. The roasted garlic oil was amazing and complimented the pork broth. The seasoned soft-boiled egg was our favorite part, not just lightly seasons either. It was sweet and savory with each bite, and the creaminess from the jammy yolk was fantastic. The charred cha siu slices had a slight sweetness too, and the fat through the slices gave it this wonderful melt in your mouth, mouth feel. The tonkostu spicy used the same broth just added the chili oil to it and gave it a good bite. The noodles had a nice chew to it. It was just the perfect bowl on a chilly May evening. When I came here yesterday afternoon, I ordered the Hakata Ramen which is basically a tonkotsu style ramen. Every aspect of it is customizable including the broth, noodles, and toppings. I just went with the default options, which i believe they recommend for first timers. On the side, I got a flavored egg, and pork belly. The broth was solid. It was flavorful, and fatty. The noodles were the right firmness as well. However, the chashu pork and pork belly were pretty mediocre. I know this sounds harsh but hear me out. Even after bathing them in the broth, they were dry and not tender. I didn't enjoy the flavored egg either. It was overly boiled and barely marinated. Despite the shortcomings noted above, I'm still giving this place four stars because the service is fantastic. The staff is very nice and provide incredibly fast service. My drink came out in like one minute. The refill came out even faster. They also offer free refills of the noodles.

It wasn't fishy at all and had such a great umami taste to it all I would totally recommend this place to someone who wants a simple ramen menu that is priced around $20 per entree. The wait can get about an hour or more on the weekend but if you come during the week try to get there before 7pm. The only down side is they add a service charge to your bill. On their menu it's scratched out that you can take it off the bill. I think this is their way of tipping their servers but considering it's 17% is pretty hefty if you have a large bill. From a bill of about $35 it was a $5 service fee charge.
