My favorite dish to get is the glazed pork chops with extra brown butter sauce (to die for) on the same and corn salsa. Their french fries are extremely thin and crispy. My second to-go meal is the pasta with sirloin tips. They are very accommodating for me even though this has been on the menu off and on they always do make it for me. Highly recommend! Food is excellent, service is top notch. Steaks are always cooked to perfection. Also really love the chicken tenders. The servers are all young, well trained, motivated people. This place is really good. You usually can't go wrong with any of the Great American Restaurants chains, and this is true for Silverado as well. I went there today and was excited when the server brought out chips and salsa as well as Aussie rolls and carrot cake slices before our meal. I ordered the cheddar cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, my mother in law ordered the Monterey Salad (salad with fried chicken tenders, pecans, cheese, and avocado), and my husband got a grilled chicken salad with goat cheese and cranberries. The server was a little bit annoying (it was hard to understand him and he seemed to talk fast and check back with us a bit too often), but at least he was attentive and was really trying. The food was hot, came out quickly, and there was no wait for our table. Overall it was a great experience and I'll be sure to go back soon. read more

As a vegetarian I didn't find too many options at this restaurant however whatever I did find was very tasty. The cheese quesadilla had nicely grilled vegetables in it and a very yummy sauce. For $11 you get a good portion. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall a great place :) read more

This is not only the best Great American Restaurant, in my humble opinion, it's the best restaurant out there, period! Everything on their menu is delicious, from their filet mignon to their salmon to their fajitas. We really enjoy starting our meal with their complimentary ozzie rolls, although their chips and salsa are great too! The food is consistently delicious, the service is impeccable, and the ambiance is more laid-back than other GAR restaurants, which we prefer. I'm particularly grateful to Silverado during this COVID-19 quarantine because they are open for pickup!!We have been ordering from them consistently during the closure to support them. A few weeks ago I wanted their field greens salad with a crab cake but didn't see the option on their online menu. Another solid offering from Great American Restaurants. I was lazy and went with the steak fajitas. They came out medium-rare just as requested, were perfectly seasoned and the portions of meat and veggies was generous. Oh and this should be an automatic but they were SIZZLING. I used to work at Don Pablos one summer home from college and nothing gave a customer an instant poopy face quite like a "dead" platter of fajitas. For an appetizer we got the firecracker shrimp which was surprisingly awesome. I expected a blah, Bonefishy coconut shrimp dish but was in fact perfectly breaded and fried and came with a great pepper jelly sauce. I have been coming to this place for a long time. The service is always great as well as the food. They always have specials and they give you both free chips/salsa AND bread if you ask for it. Only negative thing is that there's always way too much dressing. Definitely a great place to eat! One note: if you're a vegetarian, be SURE to ask how they are preparing their rice and beans. When I went with a vegetarian (allergic to meat) they told us that they use chicken stock for the rice and use pork to prepare their beans. read more

High quality food and wonderful customer service. I ordered the Pork Chops which were, and I can't believe I'm using this word, succulent. Everything came in perfect portions. On our way out, my girlfriend left her scarf in our booth and didn't realize it until the next night. I called the store and spoke to one of the shift managers, I believe his name was Jason, who was very friendly and helpful in describing the scarf over the phone. Positives -- food is really good. I've enjoyed the filet mignon beef tips with pasta, burger, and pork chops on my visits. The pork chops are great and highly recommended. I can also recommend the frozen margarita, not the largest glass for $7.50 but smooth and tasty. Service was top notch, drinks refilled, bread and chips out in a timely manner, several drive-bys to see we were ok, etc. Very pleasant and eager to serve. I've eaten several times at Sweetwater and Silverado servers were more attentive. Perhaps it's due to the smaller size, can't really tell you. Negatives - the decor and booths are somewhat dated. Tables are close and the booths are not the most comfortable. It can get crowded on weekends because the place is not the largest. Mitigating factors to the negatives -- they took our reservation for 10. Something Sweetwater and Coastal Flats would not do. Primary reason we ended up there. The restaurant has a homey feeling to it that doesn't exist in a lot of places. I actually like the ambience of the place. They simply need to update it a little. When it comes down to it, Silverado is one of the better chain restaurants around. Easily comparable in food and service to its sister GA restaurants. The decor and atmosphere may not be for everyone but it will be hard to find fault with the food. Prices are similar to the other GAR brands but there are deals to be had, e.g. the fajitas and pork chops are definitely large enough for two. read more

The service really is not the best and I had a bad experience on top of that. I will be fair though, the food is good (not great) and the atmosphere is good (not great). There is no competition in the area, so this is pretty much your only choice in Annandale. My biggest complaint is that the service is usually pretty slow and just not well trained. This could not have been made more obvious when we had an issue with our prepaid card. I thought I had enough to pay for the meal and tip. And sure enough they ran the card and it went through. I wrote my tip on the receipt and seconds later, and UNUSUALLY, the waiter came by and picked it up and ran off. As we started to get up to leave, the waiter stopped us in the middle of the restaurant, IN FRONT OF EVERYONE to tell us that he didn't get the tip because our prepaid card. This was not our intention but we CERTAINLY did not deserve to be called out in front of our fellow patrons. We paid the tip in cash. They did give me a gift card for $15 after I complained about the public humiliation. I know this won't happen all the time, but seriously when I am paying $45 dollars a head, you think they would figure out a way to approach you more quietly. So embarrassing! ....and I probably won't be returning anytime soon. read more

A tasty and fun / kitschy Tex-Mex steakhouse in suburban DC. Pretty authentic with delicious, fresh made to order flour tortillas. I had the glazed hickory poem chops and they were delicious. The food is heavy!! I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and hold the mayo. But there was not point in holding the mayo as the two pieces of bread had been completely soaked in butter. They probably used a whole block of butter on two pieces of bread. It's unfortunate when restaurants put no effort into making their meal options even remotely healthy. Silverado is my family's favorite of the GAR group, the food is just as good as the larger, more popular restaurants but Silverado is a bit more low-key and seems to be their best kept secret. Like all the GAR locations Silverado has fantastic food which is always solid, fantastic, reasonably priced, consistent and the service is always top-notch. We're big fans of the Great American Restaurants. Some people call them a chain, which technically I guess they are since their restaurants are all owned by the same company, but they are nothing like the big, corporate, generic assembly chains like Chilis, Olive Garden, Cheesecake Factory, etc, etc. read more

Went here with a friend for a birthday dinner. I remember being so desperate to shove as much of their delicious food in my stomach that I felt nauseous afterwards. So yeah, so good you eat too much! Started out with the chips and salsa, definitely above average, and the bread balls which were orgasmic. I could eat an entire meal just of those bread balls. I've actually caught myself fantasizing about them afterwards. Then shared the beef and portobello fajitas with my friend. They are not joking around about the fixin's! The table was groaning after they finished putting down all the food for the fajitas. While the beef was good it was blown away by the portobellos which were thick, juicy, and nicely cooked. Seasoned enough to bring out the taste without drowning it out. I was debating whether or not to get desert since my stomach was already stuffed but couldn't resist the lure of the flour-less waffle. I'm so glad I didn't miss it! Light, fluffy and oh so gooey chocolaty! What genius thought this up?! The only downside was I thought the place was hideous. The decor was tex-mex throw up. I wasn't a big fan of their steaks. The ribeye was a nice and tender cut of meet but it was pretty charred on the outside. The steak rub had sugar in it so there was a very strong taste of bitterness from the sugar that was caramelized too much. I wasn't very satisfied. Had dinner there with my wife, sister-in-law, and two friends. There service was very nice. They have a good system for checking on tables; so it may not always be your server that fills you glasses, but they will always be full. We ordered an appetizer and they said that because it came out late that it was on the house. We hadn't noticed that it had taken a while to come out, so that was a pleasant surprise. I ordered a steak, medium-rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Many places over cook in order to cover themselves, but Silverado cooked it just right. Great food, great service, lousy policy. This venue is a not so great american restaurant and as such has an anti gun (aka gun free zone) policy. Stopped in to eat with my son a few times open carrying (it was during the summer) and had no problem. Went there one evening and was told to leave the pistol in the car, took my business elsewhere that night. Called next day to complain about the very anti-American policy. Received call from the manager - told him the should put a big "no guns" sign on the door to keep away patrons that support the 2nd amendment. read more

We both had the drunken ribeye. The sauce was a little overpowering and salty. If we were to ever go back, we would try to get the salt and pepper ribeye (available by request). We also got a side of skinny asparagus (6 Spears), so you may to get an extra side for two people. There were about 5 mushrooms on the steak, so you may want to pay for an extra side. The everything baked potato was great. This is a good neighborhood establishment that may be a step up from Applebee's. This place is at the bottom of the list of the (local) All American Restaurants that we've dined at so far. read more

I didn't even know this place was here! Came in on Fri night with a group and we were able to snag a table after a 30 min wait. Holy cow, it must be damn good if it was this packed. The menu is not very big, but the choices all looked good. I'd have to say it is not far off from a gourmet Outback Menu. The ingredients are very fresh and a lot of their sides are made from scratch. I went with the Baby Back with Coleslaw and substituted the fries with the Veggie of the Day which was asparagus. As I had expected, the portion was just too much for me. The coleslaw was really unique, it wasn't made of the usual cabbage and carrots. I couldn't really ID the ingredients and it didn't stay out of my mouth long enough for me to analyze it. It was very tasty! The ribs itself was amazing fall off the bone hickory smoked yummy goodness. As recommended, we split the white chocolate bread budding. OMG! This was amazing! Good thing we split it because it was a large serving! The hot gooey bread pudding and the vanilla bean ice cream was just heaven in my mouth. The service was amazing with the amount of people in there. Word on the street is that GAR has really strict training requirements for their staff. Well it definitely shows in their service. They have specific time requirements for appetizers, so it it takes too long its on the house. That's what happened to our Firecracker shrimp. Wow. The company runs this place almost military style! On one occasion, there has been left over food on the silverware and hair found in the food along with lipstick stained cups. I've been to every Great American Restaurant except for this one. I chose this restaurant to celebrate my day's 68th birthday based on the focus on steak (his favorite) and the Yelp reviews. I called a week in advance and they put my name on a list for a party of 8. Although they don't take reservations, when we got there, we didn't have long to wait. They brought the typical Great American basket of bread, which I enjoy. But also brought chips and salsa which was good too. We ordered the following: Black Angus Prime Rib - delish Hickory Grilled Chipotle Glazed Pork Chops - delish Sauteed Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes - a typical dish for the restaurant chain, always good The rest of the party ordered other things but they thought it was okay. I didn't list their opinions because I don't trust their taste LOL! The dessert was the best part. It was hard to choose. I pre-ordered the Warm White Chocolate Bread Pudding when I made the "reservation" and they put a candle on it for my dad. It was delicious! But I was disappointed that they didn't sing. Other desserts ordered: Old Fashioned Banana Pudding - yum Deep Dish Apple Pecan Pie - a little dry but still really good I personally believe that the chain needs to add other fruity drinks to their menu other than Coke products, lemonade, and ice tea. I can't speak to the rest of the GAR restaurants, but I love the Rado and go there regularly with my husband and our friends. Brian and Suki at the bar always remember our names and drinks. The little donuts in the bread basket are glorious, especially at brunch when they roll them in sugar. Warm, fresh chips and crowd-pleasing but flavorful salsa are always abundant. I usually go for the Portobello fajitas (enough food to feed an army), or the burger (be sure to order sweet potato fries). At brunch get the brunch fajitas (all the fixings PLUS eggs and homefries on the skillet!), or the Bubble & Squeak. I will say that, simply by having been there so often, my husband and I have encountered a couple of issues - nothing that can't happen to any restaurant (ie: once an undercooked piece of chicken). Rather than this counting against them, the management handled the issues so well that we felt even more loyal after the fact. The Rado definitely cares about their customers, and it's one of the things that keeps us coming back. Well that and the Pale Ale. And those dandy little donuts. With butter. Mmm... read more

Silverado is the best. I have been eating here since I was a kid. I always eat here when I'm in the Annandale area. Like all the Great American restaurants, Silverado offers fresh, tasty food at a reasonable price. You can start with bread or chips & salsa, or bread AND chips & salsa. The appetizers are great too. The Firecracker Shrimp and the Spinach and Artichoke Dip are great, but the Southwestern Eggrolls are my favorite. They used to have made-to-order guacamole which I've been lobbying for them to bring back for a few years. If you're a fan of Tex Mex, you should definitely order the fajitas. I've tried every combination (chicken, steak, and portobello are the choices) and they're all awesome. The steak comes out a little rare, which I love. The sauteed onions that come with the fajitas are amazing and perfectly cooked. I've never had a bad meal at Silverado. I even worked a few summers there when I was in college and never got tired of the food. If you're going for dinner you should definitely call ahead so you can start your wait early. We went here as a celebration of my cousin getting her first paycheck. We were met with service almost as soon as we were seated at a booth. The waitress was super polite and friendly and also very accommodating because my sister's a vegan. We ordered Tex-Mex egg rolls, Firecracker Shrimp, Grilled ABF Chicken & Havarti Sandwich, and a Portobello Fajita (pictures attached). The waitress was constantly checking in on us, but not so much that it was annoying. She was always refilling our drinks and our bread and chips and salsa. Overall, it was a great experience and the bill was $60 with tips which was reasonable, I suppose. We had a lot of leftovers and the waitress insisted on us taking some salsa home. This restaurant is always consistent with service and food. Call ahead offered for reservations. Nice little bar area and happy hour. Anything on their menu you will like. We ate here so much and enjoyed every meal. But as a wine drinker, they don't pore a large glass. Just enough to wet your lips. Our host was also our waiter and he wasn't very attentive. He was slow to bringing my boyfriend's beer and slow to taking our dishes away and bringing the check. The food is DELICIOUS though.
