Fantastic pasteis de nata, great tres leches .great old school bakery! Awesome service! Good espresso and a charming window seating.

My family has been coming here for years for their Portuguese sweet bread, and I've been dying to try it. Up until recently, I couldn't eat gluten. Now that I can, I had the pleasure of trying it for the first time! I loved it! It was delicious, and the texture was like challah, which is a bread that is traditionally eaten during the Jewish holidays, but it tasted sweeter. It's great as a sandwich and as a snack in the car. I can definitely tell that this bread is what Silver Star Bakery is famous for. Next year when I head back to Provincetown with my family, I hope we can stop by Providence along the way because I would love to get more. I don't know how I've been missing out on this bread.

From the very first moment I walked in I didn't feel welcomed. We began looking at the displays and there was only 2 or 3 things that caught my attention; a cannoli, bean tart and a triangle shaped pasterie, none of which were any good. We then ordered an espresso shot and an iced cappuccino which turned out worse than the food itself. My espresso shot was burned and full of coffee powder in the bottom, and the cappuccino was 95% cream, it was white. Overall I had a really bad experience here and probably won't go back.

First time here, I tried the Tiramisu and it's was SO GOOD. I almost went back inside for another one. I love tiramisu, but finding a good one is hard, and this is fantastic!

I stopped in on a weekday afternoon and they still had a pretty good selection of tasty treats. I ordered a pastais de nata, brownie, birthday cake and strawberry cheesecake macaron. The strawberry cheesecake isn't pictured because it did not survive the trip home. Everything was very tasty and all totaled a reasonable price of $10.

When you walk in, you'll see there are a variety of desserts for you to choose from. I heard their classic Portuguese egg tarts were really good, so I wanted to try them. I purchased 2 queijadas de nata (classic Portuguese egg tart), 2 queijadas de leite, 2 queijadas de coco, and 1 queijada de feijão (bean egg tart). Each was $1.75 each. The server was friendly and took her time explaining the different egg tarts. She said the bean was her favorite so I wanted to try 1 of them. To be honest, it was my least favorite. lol. sorry. I liked the fluffiness and crunchiness of the classic. The coco was a little dry. It's worth a try, but I would stick to the classic.

really really wanted some egg tarts in the worst way possible and this place was open later than most bakeries and had the goods and there was so many more things to choose from we only tried one other thing besides egg tarts this time because i was getting anxiety about how much i was spending but we got 3 egg tarts and whatever the other goodie was it was like a donut with cream and a cherry on top began with a "p" and it was under $10!!! with prices like that i will make this my permanent egg tart spot

We came here upon a visit because it had high ratings. This place did not disappoint. The woman who helped us was very friendly and nice. I tried to speak a tiny bit of Portuguese. She was able to set me up with authentic desserts for my aunt who's from Portugal. They were delicious. We all enjoyed them. Very happy we stopped here to try out their yummy treats.

We were walking around in the area and decided to stop into this Portuguese bakery for some egg tarts and queijadas. Everything we tried was good, but wish it was a bit less sweet.

Delicious and many different items to choose from! I stopped by because of how tasty everything looked

Was super excited to try this place based on the reviews and because I love Portuguese egg tarts!!! So we went a bit out of our way so I could pick some up on our short trip in Rhode Island. The desserts were all great!! But the service was TERRIBLE. The girl was extremely rude. I was curious to ask about two desserts and all she said was... milk (for dessert made with milk) and bean (for the dessert made with beans). If there aren't labels to it, maybe it would be best to have a menu? I would love to know what are in desserts especially due to allergies. Honestly me and my friends wanted to buy 4-5 dozen pastries to bring back home to New York City but with the attitude she gave us, I decided that we shouldn't.

Somethings are good, others are fine. I find the crusts of things to be on the dry and tough side. Like the egg tart doesn't flake apart when you bite into it, it's tough to chew. The doughboy is a little bland. Their mini pecan pie bites are good and their donuts are good.

Great Portuguese bakery. Got to get the pastel de natas. Add some cinnamon to top it off. Not to be missed when in Providence, RI!

The snow made street parking a bit tricky, but thankfully there are a few parking spaces in the back of the building. Once inside, the bakery was lively and smelled absolutely delicious. There was a great selection of fresh artisan breads to choose from. I ended up with the durum loaf, which was perfect since I planned to make an olive oil dipping sauce. The bread was exactly what I hoped for crusty on the outside, soft on the inside, airy with a mix of large and small holes, and full of flavor. I also couldn't resist picking up two Valentine heart sugar cookies with jam because they were just too cute. The only minor downside was that the employee who helped me wasn't very smiley. Not rude at all, and my order was handled quickly, but it felt a bit different from the warm cafe vibe you might expect. Prices are higher than if you went to a mom and pop bakery but this was expected. Overall, a great stop for quality bread.
