I had a great start with Silver Moon Lighting in December, 2015. However, after installation, details were a headache for me until midsummer. Delays in receiving (my version of) an itemized bill, unreturned phone calls, disrespectful office staff and argumentative emails shaped my view of my experience with Silver Moon. Perhaps the office crew did not understand that I would need a detailed bill because the bill would eventually be submitted to the IRS when the property would be sold. With all due respect, some hints about a more sophisticated billing might be a good idea for this company. I have given this business only two stars because of their lack of skill in customer relations. Additionally, last minute changes on the morning of installation is not a good business plan. My original contact with Silver Moon was very pleasant. A lighting designer met me at the property in Coronado. The lighting designer was professional and knowledgeable in recommending a style of lighting that he thought was best. I received a reasonable estimate of price for the lighting for the small front lawn area. A great start! However, when the installation crew arrived at a later date, the ease of the first appointment gave way to confusion and uncertainty. My daughter, who resides at the property, met with the installers. Later, she described to me a situation in which the installers told her that the lighting recommended by the designer was not available, nor was it the best choice for my lawn area. She also told me that the company wanted to install the lighting that they had in the truck. They told her it would be much less expensive but of the same quality. She allowed the installation to take place. Subsequent discussions reflected that a less expensive lighting style had not been installed, but one that was more costly had been provided and installed. I had not received a bill that listed exactly what lighting had been installed nor just how many lights were used. My daughter requested a more detailed bill. She told me that her request was met with rudeness and non-compliance. I contacted my attorney who helped me navigate a difficult situation. Eventually, through my attorney, the owner and I negotiated the price for the lighting and installation. I paid that bill. I can only hope that the new owner has trained his crew more thoroughly in business skills and that future clients will be treated with respect. I wish this company well with the new owner and perhaps, a new beginning. read more

This year we wanted to put up a more extensive holiday lights display in our front yard. Rather than do it ourselves (which I know from experiences takes many hours), we decided to call a company to do it. We have never used a company before for holiday landscape lighting. We got tons of flyers in the mail and in our mailbox and it seems like most of the companies that do this are individuals. On the plus side those type of people seem to be less expensive but we didn't want the potential liability if something happened to them or they got hurt. Also, most of them you had to buy your own lighting and they would hang it up. While this has it's upsides, we really didn't want to buy and store all of this lighting. We looked online and did a few Google searches and asked some of our neighbors but most people just do this stuff themselves and they don't really do anything major. We called Silvermoon Lighting for a no obligation quote and they came out to the house and gave us a quote of $650. The good thing we liked about them is they have been around a while and they are fully insured and they had an actual website. We had them hang up Christmas lights on the full length of our house. A nice LED icicle that extended all the way across our house. They also put up big lighting (snowflakes) across our lawn and we had two trees which they put up white/red (candy cane striped) lights up the trees. Also, we have a big interior courtyard to our house and they also hung up LED lighting across the entire interior patio. They were really professional. I saw from their website they had a minimum of $500 no matter what you do. So I knew it would be on the pricey side. They had an actual website which was nice. Most of the flyers we got were just no name companies that said to call "John Doe or Joe Shmo". We never like using contractors/vendors that haven't been around a while and proven with reviews. I emailed them and they emailed back the next day to set up a no obligation quote. Diane was the lady that emailed me back and she sent out Dale who gave me a quote and ideas to do. He was really professional. He gave me a quote of $650 to do everything we wanted. Something that appealed to me is they provided all of the lighting and decorations and they guaranteed to send someone out to fix it if ANY bulbs go out or there were problems. Fortunately the entire time we had them up there were no problems at all. They came out and installed all of the lighting the week before Thanksgiving and they just removed the lighting today (January 4). They set up all the lighting and there were 3 different timers as we have a fairly large house. Everything was very neat and tidy and they did a great job and showed up when they said they would to both set it up and take it down. Our neighbors all raved about how great the holiday lights looked and it even pushed a few neighbors to put up more extensive lighting vs. last year. It's great to get in the spirit of things and see holiday lighting around Christmas. Based on my experience with them, I'm confident they would do an amazing job for any outdoor landscape lighting needs and I'll consider them if we do any lighting and definitely I'd use them again for holiday lighting. WOW - what an amazing company! We needed to fix existing lighting in our front and back yards as well as add more lighting. I contacted Silver Moon Lighting on a Tuesday morning to schedule an estimate. Kyle came out to the house the next morning at 8 a.m., had the estimate sent to me on that Thursday morning and by Friday morning at 8:30 a.m. sharp, a crew of three were already hard at work! My husband and I were so excited to come home from work that day to see all of the magic Kyle and his team had done in our yards! What a difference - so beautiful. Everything flowed so well and the light fixtures he suggested were perfect! The team is so professional and courteous and I never felt pressured to buy anything. In fact, Kyle saved me money by moving around our existing lighting to optimize the space being used. I felt their estimate was very reasonable and fair. Truly, truly a class act. After a bit of a wait, Silver Moon stepped up and made this right. Both the sales department and the installers worked with me to address my concerns. I got a new transformer from them at no charge (they swapped out the one I complained about) and they checked all the bulbs (including ones they had not installed) to make sure they were all the same color temperature. When we bought our new home, there was so much to do that we were a little overwhelmed. We contacted Silver Moon to figure out something for our back yard. We met Shawn Balteff. What an amazing guy. He did the initial design and made our new home livable. We then undertook a huge landscaping project. I called Shawn to come and un-do what he had done so that it wouldn't be destroyed by the workers. When their part was finished, I called Shawn back and he came back and we re-did a whole concept for the front and back of the property and doubled the amount of WOW!! Shawn was great to work with and his crew executed the vision perfectly. It was not the cheapest project that we did, by far, but everyone who passes our house can't believe that transformation the lighting made and how beautiful the design is. We had an existing landscape lighting system that was in a bad state of disrepair - wires were frayed, bulbs were out, and what bulbs we had were old-style halogens. Silver Moon Lighting came out and cleaned everything up for us, including the installation of LED bulbs with a 5 year warranty. Our yard looks great now! A number of my landscape lights had been stolen out of my front yard, and bulbs were burnt out in both the front and the back. This is a great company. We wanted to repair and enhance our existing basic landscape lighting. Kyle came out and had some great ideas. He made a sketch of our yard, detailing which lights he would like to use for different effects. The installers were quick, polite, and very accommodating. ***Beware *** I hired this company months ago to repair my exterior landscape lighting. The first employee removed several of my fixtures and placed flags at each site and told me they will be replaced under warranty or repaired. A long tome went by and after several inquiries I was told this employee was let go as well as the salesman for the job & they will send someone else. Eventually someone else came and did some repairs and left. I then noticed that there were still several flags and my fixtures were still missing. Tracey at the office said they will bring new ones to replace to keep me happy due to all the delays. Finally after several missed appointments the technician arrived and went to the backyard and told me he installed the new missing fixtures & I paid him with an $824 check. That night I noticed one of the replacements was not lit and went to check and found 3 extremely old fixtures were given, one with a bad bulb and the other 2 a very dim lights & they had been painted to look new and I cant even open to change the bulb as it is ceased. I sent photos to Tracey and the owner Zack showing what I was given and was sent an email quoting the owner Zack saying "OUR RELATIONSHIP HAS RUN ITS COURSE " read more

i don't know where to begin. I called them based on Yelp reviews and told them my outside lights were not working. Some on some off. They said they could come out Monday. ( I called them on Friday.) I told them I would be out of town but gave them a price point that I could live with and if they had to go over that please call me. That Monday evening I got an email from them that the lights were all fixed. The next day I got an invoice that was WAY under the limit I gave them. I was so impressed. I trusted them to do the job and at a fair price and they did exactly that. When I got home I noticed that one of the lights still wasn't working and it was hidden behind a bush so I assumed they just didn't see it. I called them and told them and said if they were in the area could they please look at it and fix it. I was in no hurry. They came out the next day and fixed it at no charge. I could not be happier as I am in the consumer business and know that pleasing the customer is of the utmost importance. 11 out of 10!! I interviewed and received bids from three main outside lighting contractors, one of which is this company. While the other ones were good, Kyle and his company easily stood out as the best. Kyle kept my project under budget, beat out the competitor's bids and unlike the other companies who estimated 1-2 weeks, had 3 electricians at my house at once who completed the job in two days. Absolutely unbelievable. Kyle is extremely friendly, very professional and clearly loves his job and meeting people, as well as making their yard exciting. Our finished product in the entire backyard is unbelievable - I never thought I would be excited about back yard lighting but Kyle pulled it off. We even got the high grade wrap around lights for our 5 trees on the back yard hill, which made it look like Disneyland in a way. Just cannot say enough positive things about Kyle - will definitely recommend him to anybody needing lights and you will be very happy with your dealings with him and the finished product.
