    Area for younger kids
    Josephine F.

This park is great for all ages! There's a good sized bigger kids playground area that has some pretty cool stuff. There's also a separate gated playground area for younger kids 2-5 years old. I actually bring my one year old to that section and it's nice because it even has an activity area that is prewalkers friendly. The park has shade and ample parking. There are picnic tables and I saw at least one grill, so you could come with a group and easily have a good amount of space as there's also a large grassy area.

Park needs to get this fixed ASAP! Submitted a form already!

Not sure how long this Broken dome Is but this is very unsafe for little ones playing. My son happen to put his head through and the edges are sharp! His head got stuck too. The park is nice but no public restroom unfortunately

This park has the cutest dinosaur themed structures! I also love that there is a designated area for 2-5 year olds. My son loved the slide with rolling pins. In the center of the two yards is a free littles library book exchange. We went on a hot day and there are quite a few tall trees providing shade over the play area so that you don't overheat.

Nice park but has no restrooms that's all I wish it had. Plus lots off bbq grills but where to you wash your hands .. lol

Clean park. Lots of play structures for the kids. The only down side is no restrooms for when the kids need to do their business.

Silver Leaf Park (SLP) is a copacetic ±5.8-acre park that's located deep in a South San José neighborhood, just north of Coyote Valley. This is a fairly nice park, that's pretty popular with the local kids. I spent a bit of time here for work purposes, and became quite familiar with SLP. Here's the scoop: -×1 Half Basketball court -Non-reservable picnic tables with BBQ pits -Antiquated Playground and Tot Lot--that will soon be receiving an upgrade! -Street Parking only -Huge grassy fields, that are in fairly good shape. -NO restrooms The no restrooms is quite strange for a park this size, but the neighbors prefer it that way--due to the large population of upstanding citizens that frequent the area by the local Walmart. I very rarely give a park with no restrooms anything above 2-stars, but in this case I'll make an exception. So in summation: nice park, nice people, but bring a Gatorade bottle.

Lovely, green little park with picnic tables. There are no bathrooms, so plan accordingly!

Raleigh Linear Green (RLG) is an approximate 5-acre park that's hidden away in deep south San José…read more Due to the (still under construction) surrounding housing development, RLG was built as a turnkey project to fulfill the requirements of the Parkland Dedication Ordinance (PDO), which states that a developer must provide 3-acres of parkland for every 1,000 anticipated residents. RLG is built on a PG&E easement, and is surrounded by huge transmission towers with active power lines looming overhead. This is also how it gets the "linear" moniker, which means that it's longer than it is wide. A good portion of this park (±50%) is dedicated to fenced off areas that are essentially gussied up drainage ditches for all the local outfalls. RLG lacks more than it has, but -as has become customary with my park reviews- here is a list: -x2 Full Basketball Courts -Pathetic fitness area -Decent little dog park located at the south end -Street parking on the westerly side of Raleigh Rd. -NO Playground -NO Picnic Tables or BBQ Pits -NO Restrooms -NO grassy fields for sports The only good thing about RLG is it's Dog Park, but why would you go here when there's a much nicer one (Miyuki) less than a mile away? This park has no redeeming qualities about it, and was obviously built to satisfy PDO requirements. Otherwise, it would never exist, and as far as I'm concerned--it doesn't.

He has 2 basketballs at home that he takes to school most days for recess. I told him I would take him to the park months ago but then it wouldn't stop raining and then his wrist was broken. It was a holiday weekend, so I figured it'd the perfect opportunity to take him before the BBQ festivities that people typically do for Memorial Day. Thank goodness the weather wasn't hot all weekend. Very clean park. Plentiful parking. I believe the gates are locked so you'd have to park on the other side and walk across the grassy field to get to the basketball court and tennis court. They have picnic tables and BBQ pits and 2 playgrounds for younger kids to enjoy. This part has a baseball/softball field, too. I liked they have 4 squares. It just doesn't flow terribly well. A better flow tends to lead to more social interaction between kids and that doesn't happen that much here. Still, the fact that there are bathrooms and the tree shade for the benches is useful, tends to make this one of the more frequent playgrounds we go to. If kiddos need a monkey bar fix, or you want to do some tennis or soccer or basketball or baseball practice this is a great place to go. It also would be a good place to gather up a small group and make use of the grills.

The park is right next to the Hayes Mansion and it had a nice loop that served its purpose for me. The first loop around, it struck me as somewhat odd- there were seemingly random paths, wood fences, and different terrain. It all made sense to me when I saw a little bulletin board that talked about the park's past history as an amusement park called Frontier Village! Even though I had never visited Frontier Village, I could imagine how some of the park must have looked and could see a western theme in some of the leftover infrastructure. The park has some nice amenities- a large playground area, shaded areas to picnic, a basketball court, tennis courts, pickleball courts, not to mention the loop that goes around the perimeter of the park that is great for walking or jogging laps. However, large areas of the park seem like they are underused/undeveloped/somewhat neglected. I definitely think the city could find better use for some of the space here to develop and create a much better park. Also there were some strange characters hanging around the park, definitely not a place that I'd want to be when it gets dark.

It is a lovely area where you can pretty much do anything: walk your doggy, roller skate, bike, have a picnic, play basketball, take your kids to the playground, and there is even an outdoor gym (which inevitably became my workout spot when all the gyms closed). The scenery here is amazing especially during the spring time when the yellow mustard flowers bloom everywhere. You see plenty of wildlife such as cute squirrels (both the tree dwelling and underground variety), large egrets, colorful little birds, and an one occasion I even had a snake cross my path. This park connects to the Coyote creek trail which is a plus as you can take it down pretty far and see even more neat stuff. One negative that I have to mention, however, is how inconsiderate and selfish people are by leaving trash everywhere or not picking up their dog's waste. The place is a dream for sports lovers. Giant screens for watching your favorite teams, and a plethora of facilities and activities for expending energy. An illuminated video game arcade, giant claw machines, hoops, billiards, and the most cornhole boards I've ever seen in a single setting. Multiple rinks on site... four volleyball courts fit into one, two separate soccer fields, and a roller rink where roller hockey is probably also played, from the looks of it. But this past Friday, I partook in Open Skate here. The skating session started with an annoying online waiver process (required for first-timers) and a $15 fee for an hour-and-a-half time slot. They charge an extra fee for skate rentals, but luckily I have my own rollerblades. Also got myself a green bead necklace which they were giving out for free for St. Paddy's week. There were sets of bleachers at each corner, outside the rink, where I left my shoes (underneath) while skating. It was super breezy in there, kept nice and cool during this heat wave. The floor was massive, with color-changing lights glowing in the dim space. A range of music played through the speakers including songs like David Guetta's Titanium, Save Your Tears by The Weeknd, Beauty and a Beat by Justin Bieber, Hips Don't Lie by Shakira, and Airplanes by B.o.B. My favorite part... ZERO skate aids! Mainly skilled skaters on the floor, even a lot of the kids seemingly. Having fewer inexperienced skaters compared to other roller rinks made for a far more enjoyable time. The house lights turned on at the end of the first session, signaling skaters to exit the rink, as there was a 15-minute break before the next group (two time slots available on Friday and Saturday evenings). The Penalty Box Bar and Grill had two sections and order counters. One was an actual bar restricted to the 21+ crowd. The other was the "grill" serving a wide range of menu items including burgers, tacos, sushi, rice bowls, pizza, wings, and more. There was even a separate area with a multitude of craft beers on tap. And the venue offered endless seating options on multiple levels. Whether celebrating a special occasion with family and friends or having a night out with a significant other, The Plex offers more than enough to keep visitors of all ages active and entertained.
