My family was looking for a lowkey place to play pickleball in San Jose because we didn't want to play at courts that were really busy and packed. We wanted to play as a family and keep on switching off. This was the park to do so. Park seems very relaxing and there were benches, big trees, playground that I noticed while walking on the path to the courts. Courts were pretty good, they were well taken care of, lines and courts look re-done recently. The nets had a little dip in the middle and looked a little uneven. Would definitely come back to play with the family or to play against other people. read more

I came across this park since I was staying at the Hayes Mansion next door and wanted to walk off my dinner. The park is right next to the Hayes Mansion and it had a nice loop that served its purpose for me. The first loop around, it struck me as somewhat odd- there were seemingly random paths, wood fences, and different terrain. It all made sense to me when I saw a little bulletin board that talked about the park's past history as an amusement park called Frontier Village! Even though I had never visited Frontier Village, I could imagine how some of the park must have looked and could see a western theme in some of the leftover infrastructure. The park has some nice amenities- a large playground area, shaded areas to picnic, a basketball court, tennis courts, pickleball courts, not to mention the loop that goes around the perimeter of the park that is great for walking or jogging laps. However, large areas of the park seem like they are underused/undeveloped/somewhat neglected. I definitely think the city could find better use for some of the space here to develop and create a much better park. Also there were some strange characters hanging around the park, definitely not a place that I'd want to be when it gets dark. read more

Okay park. There is a separate tot (2-5 years old) and big kid playground. The play structures are decent, but they are unshaded unfortunately. This made it impossible to use the slide on the tot structure in the afternoon because the plastic was BURNING hot. There are shaded picnic tables though, and a lot of (dead) grass you can sit on that is also shaded. There are public restrooms. Looks like there's a passable walking trail? Saw a few people walk by with their dogs. read more

My new favorite park in the SJC area! I have been over around 5 times in the past month. It's an oasis in the middle of the urban jungle. There are a lot of trees and plenty of shade. There is a nice walking/running trail that goes all around this surprisingly big park. It's entirely fenced in which is nice too in case you have kids or pets that you are worried about. There is a lot of parking, a picnic bbq area, tennis courts, a cool playground, and a small basketball court as well. It is right by Hayes Mansion so make sure to check it out as well. It has never been crowded any of the times I have been here which is nice. Come here if you want a mental break and a peaceful time in nature. read more

This park is a hidden germ without doubt. It's a nice park situated across the street from Hayed Mansion. There are many trees and shades areas. This park have children play ground, tables with benches for your picnic or BBQ. More than that they have tennis& volley ,basketball courts, bathrooms for men and women. I have been walking pretty much there and saw people read the book, walk with the dogs or having events, picnics. The best thing located across from Mansion incase for visitors and guests from Hayes Mansion want to check it out nice park. For myself like local which is a great place for relax your mind, exercise and enjoy the breeze and nurture. And parking is easy, safety area that's matter too. read more

It's really a bummer giving this park a mediocre score of 3 stars since it's right next to the beautiful venue, Hayes Mansion, but this is where it's at for me until the city of San Jose puts a little more care and attention into their public parks. . My review is strictly on the cleanliness of the park. There are, as mentioned by other yelpers, homeless people that hang around nearby and people who sit in their cars in the parking lot. But that might be more of a patrol issue for SJPD rather than the park itself. . The park has potential, but the upkeep is definitely lacking. I couldn't go more than two seconds without having to deter my toddler from grabbing pieces of garbage up from the tanbark. Plastic bottle caps, snack wrappers, left over popped balloons and various other pieces of garbage. . I think most of my attention was on removing bottle caps and quickly covering up trash with tanbark so it wouldn't end up in my toddler's hands/mouth. . My other reason for the star rating is because of how over grown the weeds are. it makes the big meadow virtually unenjoyable. I've been there in the past to shoot photos and it's usually just some taller grass, not a full blown weed jungle. . You'd think being next to Hayes Mansion the city of San Jose would take a little more pride in this location. ‍ . I know this isn't an issue specific to SJ either. I think most cities need to figure out how to prioritize the cleanliness/safety of public parks and reallocate funds to allow proper cleanup and upkeep. . Personally I think if public parks aren't able to be maintained, then the elected officials don't deserve their full pay checks. . On a positive note, most of the other people at the park seemed friendly, so that was nice. read more

Really liked this park! It's nestled away from traffic and has a trail by the playground. There are two sections, one for older kids and one for younger kids. There is a little train play structure and swings for little ones and older kids. Parents at this park are considerate and kind (at least on a Friday afternoon!) There is a beach volleyball court next to it and my toddler loved playing with the sand lol. Also some tennis courts by it, so lots of offerings. I would definitely come again! read more

Loved exploring the shady trails of Edenvale Garden Park with our high energy dog who absolutely enjoyed sniffing the unfamiliar scents for our first visit! The mature Eucalyptus trees provided welcome shade on a warm afternoon, and the multitude of young squirrels scampering here and there kept our dog on high alert for the next squirrel sighting! Peaceful and uncrowded, the trails led us to the Hayes Mansion, which was gorgeous to behold. So glad to have found this small gem where you can getaway and enjoy the great outdoors! read more

What a find! Been out exploring different parks in the area with my toddler, and came across this place! The entire park is surrounded by a tall fence, so the only way in and out are through the gates, which gives it quite a secure feel. There is a huge children's playground area with areas for 2-5 and a separate area for 6-12. They have swings, picnic benches and bbq area, a volleyball court (which also makes for a good sandpit when it isn't being used) and Tennis courts, public restrooms and paths to ride bikes and walk on. There's plenty of seating for tired parents and grandparents, and lots of shade for those hot summer days. There's a car park out front with ample parking, and lots of space to throw a ball, ride a bike or skateboard. Once when we were there they even had drone racing happening in one corner! read more

Nice park with various surprises, like the bird's houses in some posts and trees. That was really cute discovery and even more reading that this park back in the day used to be an amusement park Far West themed, so every bird tree house depicts the location and looks of a particular entertaining spot in that park of days gone by. Located across the Hayes Mansion puts this park on second sight which I guess is great for the locals, as the tourists or visitors are more focused on the beautiful house/hotel while the locals can enjoy their picnics and sports (you can play multiple group sports there, read a book under a tree, take your dog for a walk, run with friends). This park has it all and smells so good, plus it is iron-fenced and feels pretty safe there. read more

My favorite park in San Jose! This local garden park has been a home away from home. It has everything to offer; tennis, basketball courts, playground, Amphitheater, sand volleyball, Picnic tables, swings and a beautiful scenic trail that will have you feeling like you're in Yosemite national park. I love coming here to zen out, play basketball or a nice easy scenic jog and to enjoy the weather. This place has also been the host of many unforgettable parties and barbecues. I really thought there would be better grass since Hayes mansion has beautiful grass and is next door but it's all a bunch of dried out uncomfortable pokey grass patches with lots of dirt. The play structure seems really nice. I love how big the space is but it's personally not for me. If your trying to have a nice park day laying out with your baby on the grass this is not the place for you either. There was a big amount of questionable characters in the parking lot as well. Men alone just posted in their cars looking around which made me not feel safe. There's plenty of better parks to go to besides this one. I wouldn't come here again. read more

I love this park very big nice and clean had my babyshower here two years ago and come here to bbq couple times but this Saturday I had my gender reveal and everything went good until yesterday my son woke up with a rash everywhere my oldest had it as well with itchiness I've never had this issue before and went I made a dr appt they said could be some type of bug that bite them. If there has been cases like this before the park should try to figure out what it can be or put some Post to warned the community. I'm currently pregnant so I felt itchy too so far not rash but i was going to do my babyshower here but not anymore. read more

I remember when this used to be Frontier Village! Now a peaceful park, tucked away in a residential neighborhood, and right next to Hayes Mansion, which is separated from the park by an iron fence but you can still clearly see the beauty of the mansion. Everyone is quite neighborly, plenty of places the kids can play, totally pet-friendly, and a pretty relaxing trail around the park with so many trees. Love it! There are two spots to park... on Edenvale Ave (paved), and the other on Saddlebrook Dr (dirt). read more

Very nice park situated across the street from the Hayes Mansion. When it comes to parks, this one is up there with the best of them. It is lavishly green and scenic enough to compete with Hayes Mansion grounds. It's fenced with black rod iron to secure and separate the grassy area from the road and mansion gardens. There are many trees and shaded areas. There's a children's playground with rocky climbing structure loved by kids, and tables with benches for your picnic or BBQing event. There are tennis and basketball courts, and best of all, there're bathrooms on the park's territory, which is no longer common for the neighborhood parks like this in the residential area.t read more

Cute, Quiet park that I never knew existed untiL my friend hosted a LittLe BBQ here. I haven't gotten the chance to venture around the whole park but what i've seen definitely isn't disappointing. Edenvale park offers Lots of picnic tables and griLLs readiLy at your disposaL. There is a small jungle gym and sand area for kids to keep themselves occupied as well as a huge tennis court. The park is surrounded by Lush greenery and an abundance of squirrels- this place exudes tranquiLity. FYI: The parking is a bit tricky, there are two opening but are always chained off. You will need to enter at the Hayes Mansion area and drive through the parking Lot to the opposite end. read more

Nice, quiet little park with lots of trees & squirrels. I discovered the park while waiting for my nephew to finish his finals at Valley Christian HS. The walk/jogging trail is paved, and roughly less than 1km per loop. There's also 2 tennis courts, half a basketball court, a volleyball court (sand), playground for little kids and bathrooms. The park is pet friendly. My only gripe is that pet owners should be responsible: 1. Clean up your dog's poop. I see a few scattered around the trail. 2. If your dog is not completely trained, use a leash. I've been chased while jogging. As someone mentioned in another review, parking is inside the Hayes Mansion. When you go in, turn right and go all the way to the end. read more

My niece had her birthday party here and we enjoyed ourselves, which means the kids had a blast. We made sure to bring our dog Scooby who also enjoyed the park. Plenty of parking is always a plus in my reviews and this place does not disappoint in that department. The picnic area has grills and the restrooms are right next to them. Very convenient when you have little ones. If you want to go for a walk, they have a nice trail with plenty of green. Bring your dogs so they can also stretch their legs and get a good work out. The park has bag stations so we can all pick up our doggy poop. The City of San Jose is generous enough to put these out, please use them ;o) The park has a nice kids playground with plenty of swings, jungle gyms, a train and a rock to climb. My boys enjoyed the rock the most. Overall the party was a great experience because the park made it a big hit. read more

On Saturday June 15th we had attended a get together here and my son with other family members that were all under the age of 7 were extremely itchy but nothing was appearing on there skin even washing it off his body with water he was still itchy when we got home he was covered in rashes so were the other children I advised they figure out what's causing these rashes or bite like break outs my son has a doctors appointment today I also called the park and left a voicemail since there was noone to answer due to "high call volume" at 10:30am ... The park was nice and clean but this issue needs to be resolved so it doesnt keep happening to other children this is terrible read more

Park itself is great, bathrooms are there and its relatively clean. If you plan to reserve, don't. If the weather happens to change and you're tryimg to make a negative situation into a positive they'll quickly shoot that down. I had 50+ people for an event and put of no where rain appeared. They expected only 1 10'x10' tent for that many people. I get that there is a 50% refund policy but still... $190 to book ain't cheap. I was forced to cancel and go through my local community center. This park is one of the hidden jewels of the South San Jose community. Okay maybe not quite, but it does have its fair share to offer to local residents. As a San Jose native for the past twenty-two years, I did not really discover this park until I was in high school. My friends and I would come here all the time during our summers and play tennis for hours on end. Even today, I am a frequent attendee of Edenvale Park. This park has several features. Not to mention the three tennis courts, which are pretty decent and clean in my opinion, there is also a half-court basketball court for those hoop enthusiasts and a sandpit for some nice volleyball action. Parents normally take their children here, as there is a playground area as well as a full set of swings for the youths' enjoyment. Moreover, the park can serve as a pseudo-Yosemite for those who enjoy taking walks or running in the peaceful outdoors with the blessings of nature in the atmosphere, a.k.a trees and plants. I believe the picnic area and its BBQ grills and its all-inclusive tables with benches draw the most attraction to Edenvale park. There are also several garbage cans located around the park, so this makes cleaning hassle-free as well! And of course, there is a men's and women's restroom in case someone needs to take care of business! =P Not only can you host a good sized party/potluck/BBQ here at the park, but you have many of the necessities readily accessible to sufficiently pull it off. These conveniences make life so much more easier and thus makes for the perfect location for your next big event! I truly believe Edenvale park is one of the more pleasant surprises of San Jose, and I know I will definitely cherish this park for years to come! read more

This place is a hidden gem that I discovered when I recently dined at Hayes Mansion. My husband and I brought our dog here recently. The play area is freaking huge with fabulous, uninterrupted views of the lovely Mansion. A great place to bring your pets to play and socialize with other pets. Had my nephews b-day here today, and I was really surprised with this park. I used to go by here a lot when I was in HS going to a friends house, so I knew right where it was at, but its an easy place to get lost getting to. Parking: They have a huge lot, as well as another dirt lot on the other side of the park. The main parking lot is super nicely paved, with no speed bumps. Great place to park if you drive a lowered vehicle. Depending on where your party is, its a short walk, but becarefull, cause if you get one of the better table areas, your walk will be LONG. Park: While I would have loved if they had more grass, its a really great area. I went on a sunday, and found the park to be very clean. They have tennis courts, an awesome rock climbing thing for kids, are cool playground area, and even a sand pit. I didnt use the bathrooms, but I did use the grills. They take the normal cleaning involved with using an outdoor grill. Make sure you bring your tools if youre gunna bbq. There are a LOT of tables and bbqs here for people to use, which I like. We got there at 7:30 to reserve a space, and they were all taken. Thanks to the group of folks that gave us a table and double sided BBQ. The spot we were given ended up being one of the best spots. Before 12, it was really sunny, and we were worried that we wouldnt have shade, but by 2pm, it was PERFECT. Our whole area was completely in the shade. Unfortunately this was also one of the furthest tables from EITHER entrance. Easily a 1/4 mile walk from there. I wish they had an entrance in the back. That would be so much more helpfull. Maybe have a loading zone only spot there. Overall, this park was awesome, but the distance I had to walk to the tables with an ice chest full of ice while it was 90+ damn near killed my fat ass. Well my Son is turning 18 & his dad & I wanted to come together like we did for his 1st birthday. My Son's only request was that it have a basketball court. So far so good. So I found a park with #1 a bathroom, #2 playgrounds, #3 Volleyball court, AND #4 a basketball court. Yes there is a fee to reserve a spot. But you know what it was very affordable & so worth it. But most of all I don't have to stalk the park for a good spot. We got 8 tables & 2 grills. I am so excited. This park has hella shade which is good cause on a hot day it is like 20 degrees cooler in this park. The downside is that we cant have a DJ but we can bring a boob box. So my ass will be investing in a Boss one. NO jumpers. But we can have beer. No hard liquor. Oh yea and hella free parking. Our party is not till September. So I will give you an update just after our party. read more

I love this park and so do my kids! I take my little ones to play in the toddler park almost every morning and then I go running through the small trail in the evening. The only complaint I have is how close it is to registered sex offenders! When looked up online, the trailor park behind Hayes Mansion next to the park lights up with offenders living there. PLEASE be very careful, keep your kids close at all times and call the police or ask them to leave if you see anyone around the playgrounds without kids. I have had to do that several times. It's scary and I think the city shouldn't allow offenders to live so close to the park, but they can come from anywhere, so please be aware and know where your kids are at all times! read more

My boyfriend's daughter loves this place. She calls it the Rock Park because of the rocky climbing structures. Sometime we grab a picnic breakfast or lunch and climb to the top for fun. They have great swings here and the kids and I love to swing on them. Wish they moved a bit higher in the air, but can't really complain about that since I am an adult. This used to be Frontier Village and it makes me sad that someone along the lines decided to convert this into a park. It is a nice park, but Frontier Village was awesome and it is sad that kids these days can't experience it. read more

Three tennis courts, individually fenced. So you can bring your inexperienced friends here and hit the ball away without pissing off the people next to you. Usually the courts are clean and nice. During the summer, there is a good hour worth wait to get a court (assuming if everyone goes by the first come first serve deal) Other than tennis courts, this place is nice for picnics. There is a volleyball area with sand (careful barefooted, kids like to throw sticks in there). Nice play for a run/bike/walk the dog. read more

I came here with my boyfriend on a picnic and it was nice! Cars passed by, the trees provided enough shade and children were playing in the playground next to us. Kind of hard for me to figure out what to rate this park. On one hand, it has three individually-fenced tennis courts. I'm just starting to play tennis, so I royally suck. I feel a lot better playing here, where I know I won't be screwing up anyone else's game. This park also has a nice little walking trail, swings that can accommodate a 22-year-old guy (cause hey, everyone likes a swing!), and it's Hayes Mansion-adjacent, which is kinda neat. The park does have it's share of downsides, though. The courts aren't lit, so you can't always play as long as you want. Also, this park needs a serious grass overhaul. Lots of dead grass here. Overall, though, I like this park. I'll definitely be back whenever I wanna play tennis! I just think with a little work, this park can go from being good to really great. read more

This place used to be the old Frontier Village amusement park. A western themed amusement park that operated from 1960 to 1981. I have many fond memories as a child riding rides, canoeing, and watching mock gunfights on the main street. The park was razed and converted it to a county park. If you wander around the grounds you can still see signs of the old amusement park, the paved bike path was the old railroad, there is a marker where the main street used to be, the stage coach ride once passed by the Hayes Mansion. Back in the seventies the mansion was abandon and in poor repair, we all thought it was haunted. This is a very cool park to walk your dog or ride a bike. Don't dare let your dog off leash though, the park rangers are like Nazis and will ticket you in a New York minute.... read more

Big scenic park in a small quiet neighborhood. The scenic walking trail through this park is about .5 km. Plenty of shade and green life everywhere here. The whole park is surrounded with an iron fence with two entrances. Edenvale Garden Park has two playground sets, two swing sets, many benches a small amphitheater, several tennis courts, a sand volleyball pit and plenty of tables for a picnic. The bathrooms have definitely seen better days. Don't be surprised if the men's restroom isn't working. Given that this park is located in a neighborhood, it has plenty of parking. Also, this little gem is dog-friendly and actually very clean. Took my 3 lil baby cousins here and they loved it. Not my go to park, but definitely up there on my list read more

This is my favorite place to come for a good brisk walk. I also love that it's dog friendly as well. However, some rude dog owners just "don't get it" and mindlessly leave doggie messes on the walking/jogging path. I'm sure other parks have this problem too. Nevertheless, I appreciate it's big trees and shade to keep me somewhat comfortable even on the warmest of days. Although, I don't use the playground or tennis courts, I can tell that people genuinely appreciate them. I also love that it's located right next to historical Dolce Hayes Mansion and it's beautiful grounds. The weekends always have an outdoor wedding in progress and it's fun to catch a glimpse of a lovely bridal party while I'm walking my laps around the path. I hope you enjoy it as well;) read more

Great little hidden gem. You go into dolce hayes mansion and go to the far back for free parking. Take a small stroll towards the back of the park where you will see the playgrounds. There are 2 playgrounds, one for toddlers the other for a tad older kids. Plenty benches covering every angle of the playground. Train passes by occasionally if your little ones are into them. The park was clean and well maintained and dog friendly (on-leash). It has a great set up for kids age 1-7 year olds. There is also a rock climbing wall for older kids. There are several BBQ grills, picnic tables, volleyball court, tennis courts and a nice paved walking trail. When I went, there were only a handful of people there. read more
