Such a fun, spacious, and beautiful park! I stumbled across this gem due to being in the nearby area. It just so happened to be right after Easter weekend and the plentiful garbage bins were 100% overflowing. With that said, the parks still came off quite tidy. Park visitors clearly made the effort to throw things away in appropriate areas and overflowed garbage bags were placed right along the bathroom building. City workers stopped by shortly after and BAM!! Everything was cleared and cleaned. Doerr Park comes recommended for children of all ages. There is a kiddy area and a more advanced play structure for the older kids in your life. The structure provides a lot of American Ninja Warrior vibes as opposed to your basic swing set and slide. 5/5 stars. This park is so bomb!!! read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place. This park is by our house. I walk here all the time, use the restrooms and take the kids I care for here to play at the playground. The playground is divided by a smaller playground for the little kids and a larger playground for the bigger kids. The kids I take care of love to come here and climb and go down the slides. They prefer this park over the one by their house in Willow Glen. The restrooms are decent. There's always toilet paper, soap and paper towels. There's lots of picnic tables--some covered, some not. There's lots of nice walking/biking paths around the park. There are also tennis courts which people are always using for pickleball. Also basketball courts. Tons of grassy fields to run around. There isn't a parking lot for this park but plenty of street parking. read more

Took my son here for a birthday party and he brought home Impetigo. A contagious bacterial skin infection. As a mom, no matter how young or old your child is, this is a tough situation to deal with. I feel so bad for him because it's caused him to be very isolated and insecure about being out in public. He's currently taking antibiotics and I hope it goes away. I'm not sure if the playground gets cleaned, if it doesn't; I wish it did so another parent doesn't have to feel the heartbreak I am feeling for my son. A gentle reminder from one parent to another; please wash up your babies once at home. It is a great park and it's unfortunate that this has happened because now I can't take my children here anymore without being stressed out about whether they'll bring home something again. read more

This is a really great park for kids and dogs, and I guess picnics as well since they have a large covered seating area. The playground itself is huge, with many levels, and has activities for anything from toddlers to maybe eight or nine--year-olds. I'm not sure if older kids would be that interested, but whatever. There's a huge amount of open grass behind the playground, perfect for dogs to run around or to play sports. There are usually a lot of dogs which is of course good for kids who want to play with dogs. Street parking near the little kids playground can sometimes get tight, but there's always parking around the perimeter of the park. Overall it's a really good park and playground, with lots of big trees to shade things during hot days. read more

This is a really nice park. It has a lot going on with baseball, bball, tennis and there is a pool nearby too. There is a paved path that goes around the park if you want to have a walk or run. They have a cool play structure, a big lawn and some shade. They seem to attract some friendly folks and it was nice to chat with some folks who were chilling here enjoying the nice evening weather. read more

The park itself seemed clean and had plenty of seating around the playground for parents. However, I find the kids in the Bay Area tend to be on the aggressive side, always shouting and shoving. I guess the mentality here is take what you want otherwise someone else will and the parents pass that onto their kids. It was a Friday afternoon and there were plenty of kids and parties occupying the covered area. After several kids started calling my kid with autism names, it was time to leave. The kids here are neither kind towards their peers nor tolerant of those that are different from them. We spent about maybe 20 minutes there and left. read more

Doerr park is a neighborhood park for all ages. Nestle in a well kept neighborhood. There are two play structure looks to be recently updated. The structure is big and will keep kids entertain for hours. It has the rubber matt instead of the wood chip. Large grass area and trees with plenty of shade. Plenty of picnic tables. Standard City of San Jose restroom. Street parking only which wasn't an issue. Saw alot of people walking around the park which is a always a good sign of a great park and neighborhood. read more

This park has two designated areas for younger kiddos and then for older ones. They also have public restrooms (although I didn't try them, so don't know how clean they are). I would recommend this park for older kiddos because their slides are the tallest I've ever seen! The two playgrounds definitely get hot in the summer since the trees are not too close to them. The playground for younger kiddos has a map of the US and some other sections intended to support learning - super cute! read more

Who knew reviewing a park could be a thing? But hey, I'm here to share that Doerr Park is definitely not your run-of-the-mill park. My kid practically turned into a parkour ninja on their obstacle course and couldn't get enough! We even caught a glimpse of a squirrel attempting a mini obstacle course of its own. Great kid friendly park. One side for younger kids/infants with swings, seasaw and a slide area for the kids to play with. Other side of the park is for the older kids with larger and longer slides to ninja walls to scale to bigger kid swings. There is a baseball diamond in the back tennis and basketball courts. This park is also a gym for Pokémon so youlll see people camping out with their phones. The park is kid friendly and there are restroom facilities onsite. I've put off writing a review for Doerr Park because one of its charms is that it's never too. crowded. Maybe I don't want the secret out. Doerr is a clean, safe well kept park tucked back from busy streets and in a nice neighborhood. There is a walking path through the park,four tennis courts, a baseball diamond, basketball court and two play structures. The area designed for elementary aged kids was remodeled at the end of 2016 and has two towers with really long slides and places to climb. There frame for the swings is tall and kids can swing really high. There are a few picnic tables, but the park doesn't take reservations and in the summer people show up first thing in the morning to stake their claim. There is an open area that sometimes has organized soccer or flag football games, but mostly it is used by people and their dogs playing fetch. It really is a great park to get out and enjoy the a nice day. read more

My son is a big fan of Doerr Park and I'd agree with him that this park has a lot to offer. We typically play basketball here, then put on our roller skates and practice on the courts for a bit and my kiddo then ends the park adventure at the playground. The slides are insane - it seriously fires you out like a cannonball. My son loves it and still says it's his all-time favorite park. read more

Cute little park!! I came her for a picnic and it was adorable with tons of shade and trees! The girls loved hanging in the shade watching the kids play soccer and people watch. Love the benches and tables, grassy area, playground equipment, rubber top (instead of wood chips), and the fact that there's bathrooms and drinking fountains. The toddler area isn't fully enclosed but the part facing the street is fenced off at least, and while at the toddler area you can still see the bigger structure easily to keep an eye on multiple kids. read more

I cannot say enough about the caring of the San Jose Tree trimming crew. Esteban, one of the lead tree trimmers, was so kind to my grandson when his remote control plane landed in the top of a tree at this park. Plenty of street parking, Two well equipped playgrounds to keep the kids entertained, bathrooms, basketball court and lots of grass for kids to play on. We really enjoy going to Doerr park. The slides are super long and fast, which my son loves. There are also lots of different monkey bars to climb on. The park has plenty of grass to play baseball and soccer too. The only downside is that it gets very crowded on weekends and the covered patio area needs a facelift. read more
