Nice park! Has a large big kids area as well as a separate decently sized 2-5 year old play area. There's also a sand pit area in between the two that is well shaded. There are public restrooms. There is a picnic area with a bunch of tables as well as benches all around the playground areas that are mostly shaded! There are also large grassy areas, and basketball and tennis courts. Parking is easy, street parking all around the park. All around great park. read more

This is a great children's park especially for those worried the child may stray into the street and be hurt. There are play areas for different ages, tables for relaxing and eating , and there is parking for disabilities. There is also a nice lawn area to pitch or kick a ball . That area is not fenced at the parking lot but is fenced next to the street. There is a restroom available. No seat toilet and a bit grubby but it is available . The play equipment was imaginative and there was a lot of it. My friend has an autistic child. He is very fast . This park seems really a great find for him to get out there and play and be with others and be safe too! The fences are high enough and sturdy . Too bad there aren't more parks like this for kids to be kids! read more

I don't typically go to parks on the weekend unless there's some kind of hike involved. But I was able to experience this small park as a friend of the bf's had their kid's birthday party. Overall, a not so busy park with a lot of different options for kids and adults alike. L O C A T I O N River Glen Park is located in the Willow Glen area of San Jose. It's fairly accessible with Highway 87 nearby. The parking is also plentiful alongside the park. A C T I V I T I E S There was a baseball, volleyball, basketball, and tennis court area. Two different playgrounds one of which is specified for those who are younger vs. older. There's also a sandbox and a restroom though unsure the cleanliness of it. There were two reservable picnic areas which you can reserve. The two areas are right next to each other so it may be unfortunate if there's another party next to yours and you want something a little more separated. O V E R A L L The park is not close to busy streets so it feels nice and safe. The park is a bit dusty, but hey kids like to get dirty. There's many options for people and good area to just walk around and sit in the park. Good option for those with kids and pups. read more

One of the nicer City parks located in a swell Willow Glen neighborhood and surrounded by cool, old houses. It's got all the usual amenities that one would expect from a good park: -Beach volleyball court -Basketball courts -Tennis courts -Horseshoe pit -Old School 80s-style "exercise course" at the west end of the park -Playground & Tot Lot -Decent restrooms -Picnic tables w/ BBQ pits -Grassy fields to stretch the little one's legs -A ±1/2-mile decomposed granite track that encompasses the park; this is one of the nicer features of this place and can get pretty packed. So, get there early! I heard from one of the local residents that the place can be a zoo on the weekends, but I haven't been out there on a weekend in many moons so I can't verify it. So, in summation, great park with lots of amenities. read more

Small , flat yet scenic park in a very old and cozy neighborhood. We run through it on occasion and log tempo pacing for short quick runs. It's nestled in a sweet area if you live there. Lot's of dog walkers and yet light traffic and crowds during the daytime. read more

Located not too far my home, we have taken the LO here to play. They have 2 playground areas - one for the toddler, I'm guessing and another area for the bigger kids. The toddler area is pretty nice. I actually like that the ground are wood chips, rather than sand. It's a drastic change if you go in the morning versus the afternoon (at least on the weekends). We had come another time in the late afternoon so there were several parties going on which meant more kids in the playground area. Not a problem but if you want to have the playground to yourself, I suggest coming in the mid- to late morning. read more

I didn't like this park but my toddler did. First of all, it is dirty and dated. The play structures are surrounded by tan bark that is littered with everything from bottle caps to gum wrappers. If you have a kid that loves to put things in their mouth make sure you watch their every move. The structures themselves could definitely use a good spray down as well. Second, there was a homeless guy hanging around the whole time. He didn't bother us but it didn't help make me feel any more at ease here. Third, there were a bunch of people with their large and fast dogs off leach and running wild. This is not an off leach area and I'm not particularly comfortable bringing my young son somewhere a large dog can knock him over. What I did like: fully fenced in toddler area and tons of parking. It is easy access from the 87 and in a nice looking neighborhood. read more

This park was basically perfect for my little one. I would say the sandbox area was the best I've seen so far. It was large and the sand was pretty clean, minus some leaves and sticks and such. It is fenced off which I'm sure helps a lot! It also has a little "club house" in the middle so kids can play with the sand in there too. The playground is separated by gates. One is for toddlers and one is for the bigger kids. Both play grounds were fun for her. The toddler one was safe enough, the only downfall is the tanbark at the bottom of the rolling pin slide was so worn down and used that the actually bottom of the slide was more like a jump down. I would say about a 2 foot drop, she can jump down, but I can see how it would be difficult for other little babes that can't do that. They just need to refill the tanbark. The swings were in the same area, 4 total. The tanbark there is also missing. I do like this park, it was shaded and has bathrooms available right in the middle. read more

What a great park, really, not yelpified yet? Not only has a great park for the little kids, a park for the big kids, 2 tennis courts, 2 basketball courts and multiple baseball diamonds, but there is room to fly kites and picnic tables and grills. Lots of street parking and a dirt track around the outside for jogging. read more

I enjoy this park. It is one of the nicer parks in the city that I have seen. There seems to be something for everything. John D. has pretty much a perfect list of everything. We've been a few times and each time my daughter has found nice kids and families for us to make friends with for the day:) This is definitely a park worth going to if you are in the area. Love this neighborhood park - unfortunately, folks who use the picnic facilities on the weekend leave it in a state of disarray - wish there was a way to hold folks accountable to clean up their mess. Pretty nice park in willow glen! It's 8:17 am and there are already kids & parents here for some play action! Wow, early risers! Lots of street parking, restrooms are decent and fully stocked! Lots of open field here. The bbq / picnic areas are subject to reservation so be careful if you arrive early and save a spot, without reservation. Fingers crossed I get to stay where I'm at. looking forward to a good outing with my family. read more

This is a nice park. I came here on Sunday with my wife and son and met up with my brother and sister in-law and their son (my nephew). There's plenty to do at the park. They have some serious baseball fields with training cages, tennis courts, handball wall, basketball hoops, bathrooms, two playgrounds and a sand playground. We used the basketball court for the first hour or so. There was no one playing ball so my family and I skated and biked around. The ground is nice and smooth and i didn't notice any cracks on the ground. We went to the big kid playground at first and it was really nice. Although my son is only 2.5 yrs old, I feel that the playground was safe for him. Granted he can't do the monkey bars or the fireman pole, he loved the slides, especially the tunnel slide. There are 3 bridges that move when walking on them and my loved 2 of them. The third bridge scared him because it was a moving bridge but the floor of it consisted of round plastic steps that were spaced out and held together by cables. I thought it was fun but my son was a bit afraid to cross it. The little kid playground was equally fun. They have a slide that has parallel round tubes as the base of it (like a conveyer belt style slide). My son loved it and was going up and down it a lot. We skipped the sandbox because in my mind it's a sandbox is a giant kitty litter box. Overall, I would bring my son back to play here. read more

Nice little park in Willow Glen. I utilize the perimeter trail for jogging mostly. Two laps equals a mile, FYI. I like the fact that people bring their children, dogs, or use it for sporting events. There is everything from baseball to basketball played here. River Glen is an enjoyable park that's clean & safe. read more

We love this park for our toddler as it's got a little bit of everything. Two different playgrounds for different age groups which offer variety as well as picnic tables for parties and massive green space for running around. The public restrooms could be kept cleaner but luckily it's close enough to go home that it isn't much of an issue. Plus the park hosts little league play which my nephew is a part of so we can cheer him on between breaks at the park. A win-win if you ask me! read more

I'm a little particular about the park I take my daughter to. Like most mothers I don't like a place that looks like it's been abused by older kids by vandalism or more just plain extra dirty, but I love taking my daughter to this park. Most people we've encountered are polite. My daughter is 2 and loves that there are 2 play area that she can choose from. read more
