This place is a complete disgrace. The owner and their handpicked group of tennis coaches are not only unprofessional, but downright disrespectful. They treated my 11 year old son like he didn't matter while shamelessly playing favorites with their few "chosen" players. The favoritism is disgusting, the attitude is arrogant, and the entire environment is toxic There's no leadership, no fairness, and no concern for your child's development--just ego, favoritism, and a total lack of class. If you're thinking about private lessons here, don't. Save yourself the frustration and protect your child from this toxic mess. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Ever read more

Both of my sons greatly benefited from group and private instruction at Silicon Valley Tennis. Compared to lessons they've taken elsewhere, Silicon Valley Tennis puts a great deal of emphasis on technique, consistency, footwork, and fitness. The group lessons have been very helpful in allowing my sons to gain experience hitting with players at various levels while the private lessons have improved their groundstrokes, volleys, serving, and footwork. Feedback from the instructors is very constructive in letting students understand areas where they need to improve the most and in reinforcing what is working well. read more

Francisco is an AMAZING coach. Our 2 boys have been under his tutelage for 5 years and he has provided a balanced coaching style of tennis technique, player strategy and conditioning. Some of the coaches at the Silicon Valley Tennis Academy are really nice but the director is a fake person who pretends to be nice but what he only cares is money. The place doesn't treat parents and players fairly. They don't have a transparent pricing for their lessons. While in town over a few months I worked with Mauricio, who in just over 10 lessons helped me dramatically improve my form, shot placement and strategy. Very straightforward, with a clear coaching style that had an impact in my playing and confidence in a short time. My son has been attending the summer camp for a few weeks. I am very impressed with the coaching staff and the results. I had been coaching him since 7th grade and sending him to other local classes. We felt that he was ready for the next level and had done some research on local tennis coaches and summer camps before deciding on Silicon Valley Tennis Academy. We paid coaches Francisco and Edgar a visit back in May and was quite impressed with the intensity of the practice on all aspects of the game, from fundamentals, conditioning, strategy, to the mental game. I've been sitting on court side from time to time to observe the practice. You can see the passion the coaches have for the sport as well as their students. The coaches would come watch the players on weekends at tournaments and work with the players during the week on specifics. One-on-one coaching has its benefits. But if you are looking to work on all aspects of the game, and get to the next level, this place is where you want to be. And playing with other players also have its own benefits and rewards. For the same price you are playing for most recreational summer camps/classes, you will get the same level of training and coaching as the elite national tennis academies. If you are looking to play tennis at high school level or participating in USTA tournaments, you definitely want to give this place a serious consideration. My only advice is to contact them first and visit and play there once so the coaches can assess and recommend which class/camp/clinic is best for you. read more

If you're looking for a place for yourself to learn the game of tennis and your kids to learn the correct way, this is the place. The teaching pros strive on doing their very best to make sure that you receive quality instructions and not some mediocre instructions just to get by. Francisco is the best tennis coach I've ever had. I go for a group lesson with two other people. Each week, he personalizes all of his advice to the particular player, rather than giving generic advice for the entire group. He's significantly improved my game in just a few lessons. Francisco is also very flexible with timing and a really fun person to be around. For background, I took tennis lessons for years and was the captain of my high school tennis team. read more

I've been coming to The Silicon Valley Tennis Club for over seven years. The instructors are the best! I've seen so many great improvements on lots of players. I have started play tennis very late in life, I was a couch potato but Francisco was able to find just the right coach for me at the right moment. He was a person with a lot of patience a passion for teaching and a gift for relating subject I clearly understood to the game of tennis. With time I have spent more and more time on the tennis courts in the past 5 years I have grown and my tennis game has improved a lot. However SVT is not only tennis is a family that is there for you at any time to support and encourage with a smile. My family was visiting the area from LA, so I enrolled my 11 year old daughter in the Silicon Valley Tennis Camp. I chose this camp over a couple others due to the great reviews on Yelp ~ and I was happy I did! Coach Francisco runs a great program for all levels. This camp is not just day care, like some camps. The kids really learn good foundation skills, match play strategy, and best of all, tennis fitness/conditioning. My daughter's footwork improved dramatically after just a week at this camp. The camp staff are all energetic college players who make the experience fun for the kids. I would highly recommend this camp ~ my daughter is already asking to go back next summer! read more

My son Avi has had a fabulous 3 weeks receiving coaching from Francisco Ruiz at the Silicon Valley Tennis Academy. Avi is almost 12 years old and has been playing tennis since he was 4 in India. He is at the intermediate level and since we were spending May 2018 in the bay area, I was on the look out for suitable places for him to get exposure to Tennis coaching. I chanced upon Francisco's profile and visited him at his academy in Mountain View. From the very first interaction I felt very comfortable with Francisco's approach and expertise. He viewed a few videos of Avi and created a training plan for him. What clicked for me was that Francisco has a lot of US and international coaching exposure. He regularly hosts players from Japan, Latin America and Europe. Through the 3 weeks of coaching Francisco specifically worked on Avi's footwork, his serve and backhand. All areas have seen a huge improvement including his match temperament. Avi enjoyed his sessions with Francisco and was also coached for some sessions by his assistant Nathan. What stood out for me was their emphasis on making Avi "think" about his game and develop an ability to learn on his own how to improve his game. Avi also got to play a few games with other kids at the academy to help him benchmark his level to local players. I highly recommend Francisco and the Silicon Valley Tennis Academy and will bring Avi back here in the future. read more

I first joined SVTA about a year ago, when my friend recommended the academy to me. Although I had very little tennis experience before-hand, I was warmly welcomed to the community by the coaches and quickly caught on with the group I was placed in. Although it was difficult at first to maneuver on the court, the coaches were patient and helped me improve my tennis skills in each class. The coaches have a planned out lesson plan and ensure that each player understands how the techniques can be used in a future game. I learned a lot from the coaches there, how to play tennis using the correct technique and strategy, while learning more about myself. When I first started, I did not expect to stay as committed to tennis, especially because I picked up the game in my later teenage years. Now I am off to college, and I am very happy to say that I will continue to play tennis in my free time as well. I definitely recommend SVTA to anyone who is looking for a fun and encouraging environment, while becoming a part of a greater family. read more

SVT is a phenomenal tennis academy. Classes are always upbeat and challenging, which was exactly what I was looking for. I rarely stood around in line waiting for my turn to play, as coaches would incorporate workout routines along with drills. In addition to the motivating nature of all the coaches there, the students who attend SVT all seem to enjoy their time there, whether it is to prepare for a USTA tournaments, or simply to hit the ball around with friends. The courts and equipment are all well maintained, and the facility is nice and clean. There are plenty of parking spaces and sitting area for parents to observe. The environment here is really brought out by the coaches' passion to pass on their knowledge, while creating an enjoyable time for students to continue playing tennis years down the road. If you are looking for a tennis academy in the SF Bay Area, this is the place to be! Its right off the 101, and just a few blocks from downtown and the Caltrain station. read more

A friend recommended this place and 10 minutes into the lesson, my son asked, "Can we come again?" That was 5 years ago! The coaches are great with the kids - really funny, but serious too. Prices are reasonable compared to other places. Even if your child isn't a great athlete, it's a fun way to spend 90 minutes.
