She's been fantastic about working on improving my kids' strokes so they are more efficient in the water, and my wife and I really like her. As for waterworks itself, it's very customer oriented in our experience and we've been quite happy. Where they lose a star with me has to do with a couple things. First, the curriculum is very much focused on the standard swim sport strokes. This is great through breast stroke, but I think there could be more focus on more practical and survival skills (notably, teaching side stroke, more emphasis on treading water, and survival floats). Second, the Sunnyvale location has had a lot of closures for various reasons. I acknowledge it's been out of WW's hands, but it's a drag to go all the way to the San Jose Bascom location (which is actually kinda awesome as there's a free play pool).

Swim lessons are decently priced and sessions can be purchased via their website during the Summer. No need to be a club member. My daughter took swim lessons the entire summer, and we really loved the smaller atmosphere of this private club as opposed to going to the YMCA, which had much larger class sizes and I was looking for more one on one experiences which I was able to get at Fairbrae.

But I felt something is off, and I want to correct mistakes and improve techniques if possible. So I started taking 30min weekly lessons with Aaron. It last several months. I liked the instruction and feedback in each lesson. In the end, I feel I learned a lot and improved all four strokes as I was hoping to. I am still not very good at some of the areas pointed out by him, but at least I am aware of them. I even learned and practiced freestyle flip turn. Without proper supervision and guidance, I would be afraid to attempt myself. Overall, I feel the money and time are well spent.

She immediately took to Aiden. He is incredibly patient and has a very kind disposition. When we started she wouldn't put her face in the water or wear goggles. After 12 sessions she is willing with little assistance to touch the bottom of the pool going all the way under. There were some rough days where she really was not up for doing anything. Aiden did not give up. He tried many different approaches and we are incredibly grateful for his determination that lead her to such a big step in her water confidence.
