My daughter had tried group swim lessons previously with another organization, but never got comfortable with the most basic skills like putting her face in the water. Shawn was patient, encouraging, and did a great job balancing when to push and when to give my daughter a break while she was trying something new and difficult. By the end of the lessons, my daughter was so comfortable in the water that the biggest challenge was getting her to keep her head out of water long enough to listen to the next instruction! My daughter looked forward to every lesson and always wanted to keep swimming at the end of the lesson. We did 12 lessons, 45 minutes each, three times a week, and it was the perfect way to start the summer by building a strong foundation from which we will keep practicing on our own. About a year later, during a tryout at PASA, he was placed into PC-4--the highest level for pre-competitive swimmers. That result really reflects the strong foundation he built at Flying Fish. I decided to stay with Coach Marcelo and I could not be happier with my decision. I could see my daughter's progress from the first day, I think because this coach is very patient and encouraging at the same time. He also keeps me informed of her progress. I have been living in Santa Clara or close by for the past 25+ years and did not know about this…read morehidden gem. They are located in a residential neighborhood and the only downside is the parking. Naturally, the residents do not want people going to the school to park in front of their homes and tend to leave their garbage cans etc. out on the street so get there early to find parking. The club itself does not have onsite parking. I looked at their website and called them because I could seem to be able to create an account and Joe, who answered, was very helpful. It turned out that I needed to use a different browser. The price is $140/month with a $45 one time registration fee. There are no makeup classes, which is also a downside. The pool itself is clean, with instructors in every lane. There were 3 kids assigned to the instructor that day with a max of 4. The instructors were patient and knowledgeable. There was one point of contact who was evaluating the swimmers and providing instructions. There is plenty of space for parents to hang out during the half hour class or you can leave but they ask that you stay close in case of an emergency. There are showers and loaner swim goggles and caps. They are close to the Cabana Club pool.

I brought my 4 year old son to his first swin lesson unaware that it was located in a City Sport…read moregym that they aparently rent a lane in the City Sport swimming pool. Apon my arrival the woman at the reception to the gym when asked where the pool was located informed me that I would have to walk through the womens locker room to get to the pool. The other option is to walk through the mens locker room. As I took my 4 year old through the womans locker room I didnt expect to have to walk through to the very back to reach the door to the pool. I am extremely upset that my son was exposed to numerous naked women. They were either changing or coming out of the shower. My son was shocked and kept saying mommy they don't have clothes on..or mommy why are they naked. I don't even let my son see me naked!!!! As my husband arrived during the lesson my son had to use the bathroom and my husband took him to the mens locker room where I asked apon their return if men were nude on that sidecas well and the answer was yes! This is unacceptable and disturbing that SafeSplash is anything but safe to be ok exposing children to this. When I called customer service Alex their customer service chuckled and said "its just a locker room"! I asked to speak to the manager and he said he can only send an email. I asked for the number to their headquarters and he said their isn't one. What type of business is this!?! From what I was told their other locations are set up the same way. Exposing children to nude adults is never ok!! I was told someone would get back to me in 48 hours. The little child size pop up changing room smelled moldy...the 1 instructor working with 1 child at a time down the lane while other children who can't swin waiting on the step is unsafe as well. If 1 of those little ones hopped off the step who would of noticed if the instructor is half way down the lane. This who company is a disaster!
