What a lunch time staple. So many good options, but look no further than the 580 sandwich and fries. Quick, easy, and delicious!

I was excited about the idea, but quickly deflated. This place specializes in soup & salad. Wouldn't it make sense that you could buy a soup & salad combo? Nope. You can buy a HUGE salad, for regular price, then you can buy a MICROSCOPIC serving "cup of soup" for $1.99 extra. So disapointing. Reco for the Ladle- upsize the "cup of soup" to at least a cup, and think about splitting the difference with a combo so people like me who want the best of both are delighted with your offering. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I probably eat here or pick food up from here more often than other places downtown. Primary because it's fast/easy and the food has always been good. If you're looking to check this place out during lunch I'd recommend getting in on the earlier side ahead of noon. Or come in a little later, if you're in a hurry. I will say they do move through the line pretty good. I think the longest I've ever waited was maybe 7 minutes (thereabouts) for a carry-out order of cheese coneys. Still not bad by any means. They have a decent variety on the menu and I like that you can see them working on your meal. The staff there have always been friendly. They are extremely busy but always greet you, smile and help you without any hesitation. They also offer a uniform discount (military and I also assume first responders) which I think is pretty nice of them to do. They actually have a pretty decent sized place so finding a place to sit hasn't been an issue for me. But, I do tend to go either on the earlier side or later side of the lunch hour depending on the day. The place is clean. You don't need to worry about smelling like you came out of a kitchen in your work clothes My days get so busy I actually haven't captured any pics from here but maybe the next time I go, I'll add some. The chili was awesome and a little spicy. Definitely get it with onions and jalapeños.

The Cajun chicken Gumbo was great. It had a very authentic taste. I was greeted w a smile and friendly cashier and the food came out fast.

The greek salad and wild mushroom soup are delicious!

The people who work there are nice but the chicken and rice soup was gross. Think condensed soup before you add the water. For a soup place, I'm surprised the soup was so bad. I couldn't even finish my take-out bowl, which cost me over $5.00. They probably would have made it right if I ate in. read more

Love it!!! get take out here at least times per week. They are fast, friendly and the food is delicious! I recommend the philly chicken or the silver ladle sandwich. They have vegetarian options too, like the portabello mushroom sandwich (also one of my faves). Haven't tried the chili yet, but I'm sure it is right up there with Skyline. I'm actually headed there for lunch today, so maybe I'll give it a try--haven't been disappointed yet! read more

I've passed by Silver Ladle a thousand times while working downtown and finally stopped in while I had a cold and was in dire need of a hearty bowl of chicken noodle. During the lunch hour this place gets PACKED (and it was amazing how quickly it cleared out) and I totally saw why. The service is fast and the food is affordable and tasty. I actually liked the chicken noodle more than Panera (and that's saying something coming from me) and the Silver Ladle sandwich was just as tasty (although, next time I'll go light on the chipotle mayo). There's a little outdoor patio space, which is hard to come by downtown, so I totally took advantage. I will definitely be adding Silver Ladle to my short list of lunch spots! read more

Love this place! I had a burger (they come with 2 meat patties) on a pretzel bun, and it was delicious! Their fries were nice and crunchy too! It was about $10 for the meal, but definitely worth it. read more

I have only been here once and need to go again to try something else. I had the mushroom stuffed burger. It was okay, not great, but I am very particular when it comes to burgers. My friend had pulled pork sandwich and it looked very good. She really enjoyed it. The place was packed even at 12:30. It has been open long enough so many people must really like it. I think I would try the chili next time, the options for it look very good. Even though it is open for dinner Monday through Friday, it still has has the feel of a lunchtime place. The service was quick and the price was reasonable, so it is a very doable lunch place if you want a place to go the lunch and sit down. read more

The Silver Ladle is a great lunch option downtown. There are many different types of sandwiches, salad and soup to choose from in addition to the 3 Way options. They have a pick two option with drink included which is a great choice to try out different salads, soups or sandwiches. While it is busy at times they always serve food promptly. They also have extended hours during Broadway show runs and other times so check their Facebook page for additional hours. read more

Craving some good soup so I yelped and found Silverladle. Happy to find an easy in / easy outlunch place that offers all the favorites... soup, salads, sammiches and while looking around at what people were eating... everything looked good, no one was frowning. I grabbed a quick cup of mushroom soup to go, staff was super pleasant and efficient. Soup was over seasoned to me but still a good quality with fresh mushroom and robust flavor. Nice option for lunch. Anytime a decent place opens downtown for the working crowd, its a plus. This place has a nice selection of sandwiches, soups, salads and burgers. I really like the pick two option. The Silver Ladle sandwich (turkey, bacon, cheese, some delicious sauce) and the silver ladle salad are really good. The food isnt fancy, but consistently good. Cincinnati Chili done right plus good variety, who could ask for more?

I got the chicken chili with a side of fries. The chili had a really great flavor and the fries had this extra crunch, which made them really hard to stop eating! Lunch time is busy, and you might have to stare down a couple of chatty Cathies idly sitting there while everyone else is scrounging for a table, but other than that, I'm going back. read more

I love love love the fork and knife coney! I get it with chicken chili, cheese, sour cream and jalapenos on top...like no other coney I've had before. Their soups are also very good (try the buffalo chicken chili). Overall a great value, and very quick service. The perfect place for a delicious lunch downtown. They've got a good selection of healthier and vegetarian things too. read more

I wanted soup on this cold windy day so I finally decided to walk down to the Silver Ladle. It's been on my list to try out for a while. The menu is nice, soup, salad, sandwiches and burgers and is hanging big on the wall; not overwhelming though. I loved that they have many soups to choose from and each is available everyday. I decided on the bowl of chicken chili and I'm so glad I did. This stuff is fantastic and totally unexpected. It's cincinnati style flavors with shredded chicken served with cheese and crackers (sounds weird but really it's so good). I ordered takeout and the size of the bowl is the biggest I've gotten around town with a price that's cheaper than most, so value is there. I can't wait to go back and try other items, the salads looked really good. I may even order a quart of the chili to take home and make 3 ways for dinner. If you're looking for a quick, clean spot for lunch I'd recommend trying this place out. read more

Worst salad I have had in this area, hands down! The lettuce was wilted, the feta tasted slightly on the rotten side, and the "onions" were so slimey they could have easily been mistaken for earth worms! Gross! The soup wasn't too horrible. Although, I feel that a soup and salad combo that costs just under $9 should include a larger portion of soup rather than a sauce dish filled with mediocre broth. Especially when the salad disguised as the main course is absolutely repulsive. Not to mention,my coworker ordered the fork and knife experience only to realize that there was no fork, or knife, or any utensils for that matter after we walked several blocks back to work.I would highly recommend continuing to another place to fill your hunger. read more

Worth the money? Not for me. I ordered a chicken philly sandwich ($7.49) and fries to go. The people were very nice and friendly. The sandwich was tasty but the chicken only took up 3/4 (max) of the bread. The chicken breast was also the thinnest I've ever seen. The fries were good. It was a nice amount but I expected more/better for $3.29. For $10.78 I can go to a place that serves a complete lunch. read more

When you order soup and get a gelatinous bowl of salt instead. I've had good experiences here but lately I'm left very disappointed. I love black bean soup but what they serve as black bean is more like corn starch, salt, and black beans. I really hope they work on their soups and taste them before serving them because it's such a great location and I'd hate to not go there again. read more

My husband and I experienced the new Beechmont location tonight, and were sadly disappointed! I ordered a bowl of Italian Wedding Soup, which was promptly served hot which was the nicest thing I could say about it, since it turned out to be s very thick gruel of very strong herb-flavored soup, which happened to also contain very tiny 'pellets' of 'sausage'? Not one to ever complain, after tryng to swallow a few spoonfuls, finally had to give up and request a different soup. The chicken noodle soup fared only a slight degree better in satisfaction...again, very heavy on herbs, which I don't think good chicken noodle soup ever requires...ended up eating half the soup while husband toyed with his mediocre French onion soup. The dining space is very hollow, and echoed everywhere...but good for families..very simple, with comfortable tables and chairs. Wish could say something more positive....don't know how the rest of the menu fared....hopefully better than the soup we tried! read more
