Guilin noodle soup with beef brisket
Catherine S.

Delicious and fast lunch from this place again. The noodle soup was a great portion and I loved all the pickled veg that gives this soup extra flavour. Their chili oil is a must try with crunchy garlic bits. The Cantonese chow mien was saucy and yummy with lots of meat and veg to go around as well. At $24, this type of meal is what keeps me coming back. See ya next time!

I discovered Silver Fountain during the summer from their competitors Great Fountain's advertisement from Blog TO and Instagram. I had a feeling Great Fountain was only popular because they paid for advertisement so I decided to do a test. Every time when I buy take out, I would always buy the same chow mein from both vendor at the same time because I wanted to find out who cooks it the best! And every single time Silver Fountain's dish was so much better then Great Fountain. The way Silver Fountain cooks their food is so much more flavorful and they have good take containers too.

It's a lazy Sunday afternoon on the cusp of Hallowe'en so cooking was not in the cards. Time to return to the Dynasty Centre Mall & Food Court my friend recently took me to and sprung for lunch. This time it was with my sweetie in tow so she'd know where to go for a value meal. Well, my better half had a craving for Cantonese Chow Mein and this venue was in the same food court. Now, if you can't speak Chinese, then just point to one or more of the hundred food photos. The friendly lady will be more than happy to ring up the order. She encouraged us to take a paper menu and call ahead for takeout to minimize the wait. The $8.50 item we chose was actually called Seafood Chow Mein here and it came with a beverage of Lemon Iced-Tea, Soya milk or Milk Tea. Service was fast. Cash is King! Overall: There was a good mixture of seafood, meat and broccoli. The noodles with sauce were crunchy; our preference rather than soft quick-boiled noodles. My sweetie loved the Lemon Iced-Tea which included 4 slices of real lemon. There you have it. Would both of us order from here again? Absolutely.

More 2.5 was in the area and looking for a quick bite. Hk garden was closed so went into food court and stumble onto this. For 6.00 the quantity was a little anemic. The few peices of beef were ok, not rock your socks off great. The noodles were off. Seemed to have started the fermentation process early. Had the beef and drink (it's ok again).

She hasn't aged a day and she remembered some of my dietary concerns so that was amazing. She also offered options to the dishes which is great for a small takeout place. Ordered chow mien, general Tso chicken and a mixed tofu dish. This place is more than home cooking, it is restaurant quality dishes without a big price tag. The service is fantastic because she is nice and the food comes out quickly. Glad she has wanted to return and has the passion to share with the local community. It is worth a stop in for lunch or takeout to feed a hungry family.

The tofu is decently tender, small pieces of minced pork and a savory spicy sauce on a whole container of rice. 4.5/5. Eggplant with minced pork in spicy sauce on rice. The flavor on this is on point with a nice sweet and hint of spicy sauces. Eggplant is cooked well as is the meat. Sits on a giant bed of rice. 4/5 Rice noodles with sliced pork. The rice noodles are cooked well and the sliced pork is incredibly tender. There's bean sprouts and onions and green onions though I feel the onions may have been a tad undercooked. Still for the amount of food and flavor, it's great. 5/5. Price: Each dish came in around 6-7$ which is crazy cheap considering the amount of food you get. Don't expect any super high quality ingredients but this is your cheap and quick takeout that will fill you up.

The walls were also covered in photos of some of the top selling menu items, and there is a TV on the side for patrons to watch while gobbling down some steamed dumplings. The owners were very nice, despite us speaking in English to one another (we did speak to them in Mandarin). Menus came in either all Chinese or had Chinese and English on them (we got the all Chinese one but were given the translated version after we've placed our order lol). Food as a whole was good. I really liked their pork pancake - it would make a good to go breakfast. The beef burrito wasn't that great - I thought it lacked slightly in flavour. It was probably the lack of scallions in the burrito. Overall, a not bad place. Friendly staff and good, authentic northern Chinese food.

2.5 star…read more A-OK to the tasty Rice. For a person that doesn't like eating rice too much, I would have just order just the rice! Maybe that's the reason HK Eatery has the option to just getting the Rice ($3) without the Chicken for their Chicken Rice? Boneless Hainanese Chicken with Rice ($6.50) - chicken itself was not good: hard, tough, cold and dry even with dark meat. The soup of the day was really heavy and oily further made the chicken more tasteless. The lone lady there though is super nice. I might give HK eatery another chance but would have skip the chicken.

Service 4/5 Food 4/5…read moreAmbience 3.75/5 This is a casual family style restaurant offering a dinner and dim sum menu. We attended a dinner on a Sunday evening. The restaurant was very accommodating with the size of our group. We were to be 17 but changed to 13 people at the last minute. Our reservation was for 5:00pm. They offered a large table to seat 10 and the table beside to seat up to 7. We decided to squeeze all 13 onto the table for ten. It was a tight squeeze but we would be able to see everyone. Our friends did the ordering for the meal. We had a ton of dishes coming out with several dishes coming at the same time and no space left on the lazy susan for all the food. We had to leave a few of the dishes on another vacant table behind our table until there was space for those dishes of food. We wanted to order the oysters but that was already sold out. We had a total of 17 dishes ordered and no leftovers (wow!) My favourite dishes of the evening: - [ ] Peking duck. The wraps were super soft and thin. The duck skin was crispy which I really enjoy. - [ ] Salt pepper fried calamari - [ ] Dry lobster - [ ] Lobster on E-Fu noodles - [ ] Stir fried spicy calamari with vegetables, in a crisp noodle basket, crunchy snap peas - [ ] Snow pea tips topped with bean curd sheets I gave the restaurant a 4* overall because of our dinner experience and service. Note: There is a bottle fee of $15 for every two bottles of wine. We actually wanted to attend for the crab dinner special but it is only offered Monday to Friday. The restaurant was very relaxed about letting our group stay to almost 9pm. Parking is available right outside of the entrance and around the side of the restaurant.
