    17.99 Noodle combo
    Bosco H.

Been to the Richmond Hill location many many times so I knew what to expect from the downtown one. Ordered the noodle combo (17.99) with Original Fish Soup, sliced beef, imitation crab and rice noodle (thick). I typically order this up in Richmond Hill. Not sure if it was just that day I went but the portion here is huge. Maybe 20-30% larger than at the other location. You will definitely be full if you manage to finish the entire bowl. Taste wise, it's what you'd expect, decent soup base, decent toppings, decent noodles. My only gripe with Deer Garden in general is the price. 17.99 for a bowl of noodles (though it is big) is kind of absurd, especially because most of the toppings are likely pre-made/frozen. Decent food, insane quantity, high price.

Right in the heart of office-ville, this is a great spot for eating solo or a team lunch! Super tasty, clean and great service. Directly across from College Park (Bay side), in the CIBC area. My favourite combination is the Malay soup base + beef brisket+ fish tofu + rice noodles, paired with a cold Ovaltine! Some criticism would be that the noodles were a bit overcooked and the price is steep. Bill was about $21 before tip, and this included a bowl of noodle soup and a cold drink. No extras! That being said, I'll still return...maybe on pay day

    Hainanese chicken rice

I recently tried this amazing restaurant that serves my all-time favorite dish: Rice Noodle (Mixian)! I had heard about it and finally got the chance to visit one of their several locations. I ordered the slice beef & fish fillet rice noodle with Szechuan spicy soup. The portion size was incredibly generous, with plenty of tender beef, fish fillet, and veggies. The beef was so delicious, and it was really SPICY! I'm glad that I can handle spice pretty well, so it wasn't a big deal for me. If you're a fan of spicy food, you absolutely have to try this soup! And if you're not, don't worry, they have other milder options too. I also tried their Hainanese chicken rice, which wasn't exactly like the Singaporean version, but the chicken was so incredibly tender and flavorful. Plus, all dishes come with a complimentary hot drink. No doubt, it's a bit pricey but I would love to go back and try their other soup bases!

Came here with my girlfriend and got the Wednesday Special Teriyaki Chicken on Rice ($12.99) and the Signature Noodle with Chaozhou style dried fish and minced pork soup, Korean style sweet potato crystal noodle, beef ball, and fish tofu ($16.75). Also got the popcorn chicken ($4.75) as an add on and the Lychee Green Tea with Pearls. Pro-tip: Don't order vegetables as toppings in the Noodle combo since it already comes with a generous portion of Napa cabbage and mushrooms. The popcorn chicken was crispy and seasoned well, and the actual noodle dish was a very generous portion size. The chicken teriyaki was also pretty good! The service was good, the food was tasty and was overall pretty good value (especially the daily specials). Also - 5% discount if you pay by cash.

Same great taste that matches their northern locations! Their soup bases are all very lovely and their toppings are so plentiful! Seriously, this bowl of noodles is packed full of whatever topping you choose, should have totally chosen at least one veggie because the amount of meat in this bowl was too damn much for us. Come for their heart noodle soup bowl, and have yourself a milk tea for dessert! Their service is quick, so if you're starving, you'll get your food pretty fast.

So happy they opened a location downtown. The portions are generous. Laksa and tomato base is my go to. Good, quick and easy lunch option

They recently opened on 2021-03-22. That is the day that grey zone restrictions (during pandemic times) was modified to allowed restricted outdoor dining but not indoor dining. They have a few tables outdoors but once indoor dining is allowed, there will not be any outdoor dining. This is the latest of their 5 location throughout GTA. There were no opening specials. Half their menu is dedicated to creating your own noodle dishes: soup base + toppings + noodle + drink, for $14.25. Their Malay Laska soup base is very good. Of course they have side orders and appetizers. There are set dishes and curry dishes. There is a huge selection of drinks: Hong Kong style beverages, freshly brewed milk tea (cold or hot), freshly brewed flavoured tea (black or green tea), calpis, slush, milkshakes, and smoothies. The staff are very courteous and helpful. They off a 5% discount when paying for takeout by cash. There is no free WiFi. There is one gender-neutral washroom. It is wheelchair accessible.  2021-041 You can also find me on Instagram @chuan_chee. Thanks.

Monday special $14.99 curry chicken fillet with rice
    Nikki Y.

My friends came here on a cold day wanting to try a new place. The service was fast and the server answered my question about the free drink with combo throughly. We ordered 2 noodle combos ($16.75 + $1.25 for cold milk tea and +$2 soya milk (the hot ones are free)) and the Monday special (Curry chicken fillet with rice for $14.99) The soup base is flavourful but the flat rice noodles completely disintegrates in my soup. It wasn't the best to eat so I asked for a new serving of noodles but she said "it's their style" so just don't order it again if I don't like it. I got the vermicelli instead. (I suggest asking for the flat rice noodles separately in a bowl so it doesn't melt). The combo ($16.75 with a chose of soup base, 2 toppings + noodle choice+ extra $3 for drink) is pretty worth for the price. They give you a lot of noodles. I would eat here again but I wish I knew what I was ordering.

Finally a branch that's opened downtown

This location downtown is consistent with their location uptown. I usually get their fishballs, soup noodles portion. But this time I tried one of their curry rice combo. Their portions were good amount and service was also courteous and friendly. I like how you're able to scan their menu standing outside and have a 5% discount if you're paying by cash. The milk tea and coffee drink combination was also really good. Most of the times you either get alot that's diluted watered down where you only taste the tea or too sweet. This place does it right. Just don't expect spicy curry as the curry served here is the Hong Kong style curry, soemthign milder and not as strong in spices used. Will have to check it out once the lockdown is over.

Original fish soup noodles with beef and tendon
    Lynn W.

Quality consistent with other deer garden places. There were 3 tables outside (covered). Shop seems very busy between patio, takeout, and delivery pick ups - but service was quick if you remind them. Large portions of noodles and drink in the $14 combo.

    Zoe T.

Nice weekday lunch option. Homey and fast comforting food. 10/10 Solid food choice if you're not sure what to have.

    Bonnie W.

The food is very consistent! Good quality and value. Lots of choices to mix and match to your personal preference.

I've been craving Szechuan-style whole grilled fish for the longest time, so I was really happy…read morewhen I stumbled across this spot while walking on Spadina. The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026

From the moment we walked in, the space already set the tone.. dark, dramatic, elegant, and beautifully designed without feeling overly stiff. It has that upscale energy that makes dinner feel like an occasion before you've even ordered anything. Food-wise, there was a lot to love. The signature apple wood roasted Peking duck was definitely a highlight, especially with the tableside carving, which made the whole experience feel even more polished and memorable. The skin had that beautiful lacquered finish, and the duck was rich, flavorful, and very satisfying. We also ordered a few larger dishes for the table, and I really appreciated how everything still felt refined without losing that comforting, indulgent side of Chinese dining. Some dishes leaned rich and luxurious, others were lighter and more aromatic, so the meal never felt repetitive. Service was another standout. Attentive without hovering, smooth without being too formal.. exactly the kind of service you hope for in a restaurant like this.
