Their Veg Manchurian gravy is a must-try, packed with rich garlic flavors. High recommend trying Veg Chowmein as the one we had was super spicy. Though Hot & Sour was highly recommended by others we found it too tangy and super strong in flavours. The service here is super quick and ambience is okish. The second time I came here the food wasn't as good. The chicken ball breading was too thick and doughy and tasted they kind of old. I ordered noodles that I thought were thinner, lo Mein style noodles, and they weren't what I saw compared to the photo on the website. The noodles were thick and I was a bit bummed. Hakka Passion, located at Harwood and Bayly, is a restaurant that I've been meaning to try for a while but never had the opportunity until now. They specialize in Indian style Hakka Chinese food. I tried one of their specials, Manchurian Chicken Lunch Special w/Spring Roll, for only $9.25. I got an upgrade to Fried Rice instead of white rice. There was also the option to have it dry or saucy. I always choose saucy. It didn't take long for my order to be prepared, despite a steady stream of customers, including pickup orders. The food looked good, and it tasted really good. The chicken had good flavour and a nice crispy texture. The fried rice was also quite good. The lunch special includes a choice of spring roll or a drink. I chose the spring roll, also very crispy and tasty. The service was very good, friendly and efficient. Their menu is quite large, with many choices, including Thai dishes. I didn't have the friendliest customer service, but regardless their food is delicious! This Hakka restaurant in Ajax is perfect for a hot meal on a cold day. I tried the szechuan beef with fried rice for $15 which was the perfect level of spicy. All their meat is Halal, and my beef was well-cooked and juicy. As part of their lunch special, you can pick between a choice of free drink or spring roll. They have a decent amount of indoor seating, free wifi, and incredibly fast service -- I was dining in and my food came piping hot from the kitchen within 5 minutes. I appreciated that there was no music playing in the background of the restaurant and it was a low-key place to enjoy a delicious lunch. read more

Opening night and definitely a good impression :) there weren't many people so I'm not sure if they did much marketing, but it was kinda nicer cause we could take our time and enjoy ;) Staff here are superb! Very attentive & takes initiative. Absolutely lovely! I certainly hope that when this place starts filling up and getting busy, they will keep that up. It's always nice to come to a sit down restaurant where the staff are so pleasant. We started off with deep fried chicken wings. The wings meat was juicy and cooked really well. Then we got shrimp in lobster sauce. I found it a bit on the salty side but honestly, I don't much care for shrimp anyway. My boyfriend ordered a yellow curry chicken. It was really spicy but the flavor was great! The waitress let us know that you can request for less to no spicy haha. After all, they want to make sure it's edible for everyone. Really good service. The chilli chicken was sooo bomb and the noodles were incredible as well. I wanted a soup cause I was sick so I asked the waitress and she helped me pick one that would be good for my throat and it turned out to be amazing. The inside is super clean and modern and I realized it's cause they just recently opened so i guess they're trying to impress. Super underrated place and I would definitely go again. I have eaten in almost every Hakka cuisine restaurant in the GTA over the years and I have landed on Hakka Passion as my GOTO spot. Chilli chicken is my dish of choice everywhere I go and this place has good dry and gravy versions. I have also had the shrimp pakoras, Manchurian mixed chow mein, sweet and sour chicken, Cantonese chow mein and spring rolls. Six visits so far....more to come. read more

Just know that not ALL of my experiences were as bad as my previous one, and I will continue to be a customer, but it has gotten to the point that I expect a mistake to happen. I went to the restaurant with a group of a few friends and we all placed our orders. When the food came to our table over half of the meals were wrong. One of my friends tried to correct her meal which she happened to order wrong hence the confusion, but the waitress did not correct my friend when she placed the order and instead corrected her when the food was prepared. She asked for the meal that she wanted and the waitress placed the wrong meal in front of her again and said this is what you ordered. This is not an out of the ordinary experience as they often get orders wrong. Although the customer service isn't always the best and mistakes are often made, the food is good when it is correct and very cheap for the large portions. read more

Without fail, Hakka Passion delivers on flavour, spice and quality food. AND it's priced well. I absolutely love the dry garlic chicken. I need to try more and will. I just fell in love with the garlic chicken so I always get it. Add on some Hakka Chow Mein and recently Lollipop Chicken - to.die.for. The portions are generous and again the flavour is just perfect! I am so sick of plain/generic sauces and lack lustre flavours from asian/hakka places. I've been here multiple times now. Always impressed by the dishes I ordered. My personal Top 3 & recommend: Lollipop chicken, Tum Yum soup, Garlic Shrimp (Dry). With that being said pretty much all of their items on their menu is good. In terms of customer service, I have asked and was told the restaurant is own by the person I spoke too & a bunch of his friends, with that being said how good the customer service really depends who is working there at whatever day/time. I have experienced slow service ONLY once from the multiple times I've been there. Nevertheless, their food is cooked fresh, its good and changed the way I used to view chinese food and they people their are always accommodating. In terms of pricing, I would say it is fair for what you are getting maybe even a good deal for the quality of food they produce here. The restaurant looks newly renovated and provides a good atmosphere to dine in. I definitely recommend this place never been disappointed with the quality of food here. We have been to Hakka Passion several times in the last few weeks. They provide great service and excellent food. We have tried Bombay Chicken, Manchurian rice and Kung Pao Chicken. One time we were in a rush and they accommodated us with very speedy service. Their servers are very pleasant. Special shoutout to Wei, who always seems to be there and cheerfully checks on us to make sure everything is ok. I highly recommend Hakka Passion. They also have Thai food options. I would also say try the spicy fish and the calamari. If you want reasonably priced and delicious food.... try this place out. I'll be going again myself! read more
