Friendly Service, great location an overall food was adequate. It's Silver Diner so I don't have unrealistic expectations but the Beyond Meat Miso Veggie Burger is awful. Visit twice recently, probably will not visit again. This is a new store, open recently, this store hire a lot of no experienced wait staff and manager. Just like today, after we were seated, the waitress brought the water to us, and did not have us straw, later, after the appetizer was served, she forgot brought us the plates, we ask for it when the manager passing by, and he said "how many plates you need?" Kind of strange! The kitchen also got their problem too, when my dish was served, the meshed potato were cold, the fried onions strips were cold, the boiled spinish were cold also, only thing hot in my plate was the steak. If the restaurant want to make money, they need to provide good food and good service. Not using customer's money to train their staff. read more

Silver Diner has always been there for me when I wanted that late dinner or mid day breakfast. I have to say that I've had pretty good experiences at this location in Rio since it opened. The staff is pretty good although sometimes during the weekend service can get a little slow, especially if the server has a trainee. Other than that the food has been consistent and mostly everyone has been friendly. They have a nice outdoor seating area but mind you there's usually a wait when the weather is nice. One of the nicest things is you can dine with your dog in the outdoor seating area which I truly appreciate! read more

Ok service from staff yet attentive but this criticism is for the food. I had basic eggs home fries and bacon. The eggs over medium tasted cool luke warm when I was expecting it to be hot. Eh. I'm pretty sad writing this review. I usually go to the Rockville location because they are always on top of their game and everyone is so amazing. This location has a lack of attention to detail. We were left alone many times for long amounts of times and the chicken noodle soup was not hot. Sad face... I know. When I was given a menu, every page was so wet and smelled like dishwashing water. The bison huevos dish was delicious at least and they were pretty friendly. This place has really great service. We go here very frequently with our dogs and baby for patio seating (both before and during the pandemic) and have consistently had good service. The food is pretty good overall and love the milkshakes. read more

This place is disgusting. I ate paper in my burger. I received my burger with paper stuck with the cheese. How does that even happen. And once I let the waiter know, he said I would have the burger removed from my bill and get a new burger. The manager told me that I have to pay for the new burger which I didn't even want anymore and I lost time from a movie i was going to see. Management has to step up. Silver Diner has you covered, regardless of what you're in the mood for. I was craving something light after a long flight, and my dad (who hadn't eatend all day) wanted a burger. I grew up going to the Silver Diner in Rockville, so this was a natural pick on my way home from the airport. On a Thursday evening at prime dinner time, we were seated immediately. I got a yogurt parfait and chicken soup, along with vegetarian stirfry with quinoa noodles to take home. My mom got a turkey dinner, while my dad got his burger. The parfait had far too much granola for my taste, but the yogurt itself was just what the doctor ordered - not too sweet at all (I hate overly sweetened yogurt) with berries on the bottom. The stir fry was even tasty cold when I had it for lunch the next day, and the chicken soup was the perfect dinner on a chilly evening. Our waitor, despite only being on day 2 of his job, was a pro. He made sure we had everything we needed, and let us know when the food was coming (which was quickly). The restaurant itself will be beautiful in warmer weather when they can open up the floor to ceiling windows facing the lake. read more

One of the worst fish & chips I have ever had! Very thin cut of fish (menu said it was cod - but tasted like basa) - recently thawed - the fish inside was wet and mushy - not dry and flaky. They look at you like you're speaking a different language and don't even take the time to see if your order consists of one or two bags. This is a brand new location for a DC pastime. I've always been a fan of the Silver Diner; quality food, open late hours, reasonably priced, fast, friendly service. Lots menu choices. I like that they have started putting a nutritional analysis on the menu. I ordered the wild caught Alaskan Cod this evening, pretty good for 19 bucks. I was a bit surprised it had 19 g of fat for 467 calories; however, at least they were honest about it and that's a good start. I have been a number of restaurants in the same location that did not fare well, but I'm hoping they've got the formula right and will be here a long time. read more

This is a staple restaurant in our house because they offer a wide range of gluten free and allergen friendly meals--that are tasty. I have to eat gluten free because of my health, but by choice. So I like my food yummy and not to make me sick. Here I'd tried the Ruben (3.5 stars), Carmel French Toast (5 stars), and blueberry quinoa pancakes (4.5 stars). A few weeks ago, my son and I ate here. He was being a bit extra and I was a little embarrassed, not to mention I had a billion questions because I hadn't been to a Silver Diner in ages and I'm super picky. Our server was so patient and and didn't bat an eye at any of it. It's pretty standard for me to write a note on the back of the receipt or fill out a survey to let someone know when they've done a good job. Tonight, we were there again, this time with my mom and brother too AND had the same server. Not only did Sway do a wonderful job putting up with our shenanigans again, but about halfway through the meal he PULLED OUT MY NOTE FROM LAST TIME. We went to the Silver Diner as we have enjoyed it before. This time was really disappointing. Our table was on the patio and it not only did it wobble but we were right next to a gross planter on the railing which was full of spiders. We ordered grill cheese sandwhiches, coleslaw and fries. We had to ask for basic things such as salt and napkins. The meal arrived and the sandwich tasted like cardboard. The coleslaw was in a tiny size condiment bowl - not even a reasonable portion. As I moved the mini helping out of the way I saw a hair on the plate. I removed it onto the napkin using a utensil and brought it to the waiter's attention. No effort was made to make things better such as a replacement meal or bill adjustment. We then received the bill and instead of just our own bill in the folder there was a huge wad of receipts. I had high hopes for this location bc I've had great experiences at the one in Rockville. I know that my salad had grilled veggies on top but my entire salad looked like it was put on the grill. I went yesterday and the experience was terrible. It took forever to simply get 2 glasses of water and the server said it was because they ran out of glasses. How does that even happen when they are running at a lower capacity than normal? Then once I get an actual glass of water, I noticed there was a lipstick stain on the rim. The glass was not fully cleaned, and during a pandemic. I ordered a burger with several toppings and one of them was missing. I couldn't even bring that or the stain on the glass to my server's attention because she was MIA and didn't check in on us once we got out food.
