I really like the Silver Diner. Their banana french toast is my absolute favorite. It's SO delicious! Now that I live in Denver, I crave their banana french toast. When we were visiting the area over Christmas, I made my fiance take me to this Silver Diner JUST so I could order the banana french toast. I've also had their eggs, hash browns, and toast. Two complaints about this menu item - 1) There's no vegetarian version of the item on the menu, so you're forced to order the option that comes with meat but ask them to hold the meat. You still pay the same price as if you had ordered meat. It's sort of a rip off. 2) Your bread options consist of a biscuit or multi-grain toast. I JUST want wheat toast. Not a biscuit. Not multi-grain toast which has chunky grains in it. Just plain old wheat toast. The service isn't really the greatest. When we were at this location over Christmas, our waitress kept forgetting things and apologized to us repeatedly. When we were done eating and ready to leave, she was no where to be found. The bathrooms are not exactly clean, but I suppose you get what you pay for. Moved to the area 6 months ago and have become a regular at the Silver Diner which is less than a mile from my home. Standard diner fare with a substantial emphasis on fresh, healthy, and organic options which makes this place a cut above most diners I've been to. We go almost every Sunday for brunch. My wife loves it -- but the only thing on the menu I really like are the onion rings and the BLT. The service is usually spot on and friendly. The wait on the weekends can seem long, but the line out the door moves rather quickly. I don't care for their burgers -- which is a hit against them in my book. The onion rings are great -- esp. with their spicy onion sauce (comes with the rings). The BLT is great -- though its a little thin. They use toasted sourdough bread -- which I love. My wife almost always gets the caramel french toast -- which she loves. Again, a good cheap meal on a Sunday morning -- esp. after church. read more

YUM YUM YUM Hubs and I came with some friends to celebrate my birthday, and wow was it a good choice. Our friend Jordan has a service dog and they were super accommodating, which is definitely a plus. They sat us in the back corner like we requested and we partook in some awesome cheesy fries and yummy burgers. Just got back from a weekend stay in Fairfax and I have to write a review about this place. We LOVED this place. Loved loved loved it. +1 Star: Great nostalgic design of the space. Very 'typical' design and working jukeboxes at every table. May be considered cheesy, but we loved it. +1 Star: Service was great. Our server was very helpful and was mindful of our specific food requests. They're also very friendly and make you feel welcome from the time you walk in to the time you leave. +1 Star: Food was AWESOME. Their buttermilk biscuit was so fatty and delicious and flaky. I also had the cheddar omlette and enjoyed every bite. I had homefries as well, but I wasn't a huge fan. I'm used to homefries that have onions and peppers and these were just plain potatoes cut up and roasted in the oven. The BF enjoyed the triple decker club with guac and absolutely loved it. +1 Star: We loved how their menu included gluten free options AND vegan options. That made is super happy. You don't find many (or any) diners that offer those options. -1 Star: We went twice and on the second day the guy messed up our order. When mentioned he was very apologetic and fixed it. I am really impressed by the Silver Diner. Yesterday, I visited the Centreville location for breakfast and enjoyed it so greatly that I visited the Rockville location this morning. Both were excellent. Of the two locations, I think I prefer Centreville's. First of all, the food was tremendous. Additionally, both of the Silver Diners I visited were in vicinity of Barnes & Noble book stores, which meshes perfectly with my typical weekend routine of breakfast, followed by study at the book store. At Centreville, I ordered the Bison Steak and eggs. I can not tell you how much I enjoyed the Bison Steak. So amazingly flavorful. This morning, in Rockville, I had the Power Breakfast, which consisted of egg whites with spinach and cheese, with sides of strawberries, turkey bacon, and wheat toast. I also ordered a bowl of turkey chili. The flavors of all the items were extraordinary, although the chili was not as warm as I may have liked. An added plus: I rarely use ketchup but, for some reason, decided yesterday to try a splash. The Silver Diner ketchup was sweeter and, really, better tasting than any I have had before. Not typically a ketchup enthusiast, I was nonetheless looking for items to slather it on this morning. Other than the lukewarm chili, my only complaint is the moderately high prices. But, then again, this isn't typical diner food, so I shouldn't expect to pay diner prices. I would definitely recommend both locations that I visited and look forward to making breakfast at the Silver Diner a regular part of my weekend routine. read more

I think this place deserves more than 3 star. You can tell, this place is almost always full. People like coming here 24/7. The food isn't ouf-of-this-world or anything but its consistently good. I have tried most of their omelets and breakfast menu. I like the atmosphere too. Servers are really nice and I can listen to MJ music on my table. Every time we are in the area we make sure to visit Silver Diner. The lamb meatball appetizer and avocado toast is delicious. The chicken wings are standard nothing great. The shrimp and grits are delicious, burgers are great, salmon and chicken sandwich are great. Crab and corn chowder is delicious and has a kick too. Churro dessert is to die for. Why not 5 stars the service was a little off. Appetizers came out same time as the meal so I was trying to eat my soup quickly before my entree got cold. Never refilled our drinks but was quick to leave the check on the table and didn't even ask if we wants dessert and dessert is one of our favorites. read more

This is one of our favorite places to eat. When we moved out of Fairfax to Chantilly we do miss our "usual" place to eat but we go back as much as possible. When we first started going fall of 2009 it was just an okay diner. Close was the reason we like it. Then they changed their menu to using local products including better quality local meats and offered many healthier dishes and more fun dishes than just the burger and fries. Now this is a top notch place especially for the money. Their club is also worth signing up for but I do wish your points didn't expire every 30 days or 60 days can't remember which because now that it's not right around the corner we don't go as much so now sometimes our points are expired. The kids night is also fun for kids. They should also fix the jukeboxes on the tables they are fun but it's annoying when they don't work. My husband and I are new to the area, and really had no idea where to eat. As we drove around town we came across Silver Diner, and decided to stop in because of their "from farm to table" sign. I was intrigued because you don't tend to come across diners with farm to table advertisements. We were greeted by friendly staff, the diner was very clean, and our waitress was helpful and nice. The decor is typical 50's diner, with 25 cent mini jukeboxes at each table. All of our food (4 of us) was quite good. It wasn't the best food I've ever had, but it was better than most diners I've been to and I loved how natural/organic most of it was. Aside from the food, they brought out crayons and little cardboard trucks for our boys to play with, which was great to keep the boys distracted while we waited for our food. Also, they have a club card program (free). I can't think of what it does at the moment, but we got it because we plan to go back to eat their sometime in the future. If you're ever in the mood for good diner food, I suggest Silver Diner! It's great for kids, and the food is healthier/better for you than most places. read more

One of My favorite places to eat! Everything my family and I have gotten here has been great and their milkshakes are the best. My fav is the health shake. I was very impressed with their customer service during our most recent trip. I ordered biscuits to eat while we waited for the food, which the waiter obviously forgot because we never got them. I was kind of annoyed by the time our food came because they didn't put cheese in my eggs & forgot my daughters potatoes and bacon. I've had an omelette and the kids have had scrambled eggs... Servings are generous, but the texture is off. Using fresh eggs would make things SO much better. Worst customer service ever ! Went there on a Saturday and our server by the name of Anil had a rude and disgusting attitude from the get go. My friend ordered some pasta dish which came out to be just boiled pasta with boiled shrimp no sauce no spice whatsoever! So I nicely asked the server if we can exchange it for something else. His attitude turned from bad to worse right away. He started saying things like oh it's on the menu you should've known what's on it and " its my fav pasta btw" I said I apologize I will pay for it but can we order something else. He didn't even let me finish my order and grabbed the menu and left. He never once came to our table to ask if we needed anything I finally had to track him down to ask for maple syrup for french toast for which THEY CHARGED ME $1.50 btw . When we got the check we were quietly discussing between ourselves how much tip should we give because he was rude the entire time that's when he came out of no where and started saying things like oh I heard you talking i was listening to you from behind don't give me tip I don't need anything from you. I was so shocked! It's the worst customer service experience ever will never go back to this location. Great breakfast and the wifi was a real lifesaver for us. We were here as Hurricane Sandy was coming onshore and we were scheduled to fly to New York. The internet in our hotel had gone down and we were struggling to sort ourselves out. The restaurant did not rush us. Food came promptly and service was excellent. Pancakes, eggs, everything was very good. One of my group's favorite breakfast (and occasional dinner) spots - there are two other groups we know who we run into pretty frequently since they're also regulars. We're partial to the breakfast menu regardless of the actual meal we're eating, but we all have things we enjoy from the lunch/dinner menu as well. Consistently delicious food, a pleasant atmosphere, and free wifi. The shakes are great. I don't care for the home fries since they changed them over a year ago, but they always substitute regular fries for me. There are also local menu options for locavores, and some no-added-nitrates and whole grain options. We have had issues with omelettes - one of our group used to order an omelette that didn't come with onions (which she hates), so she wouldn't specify no onions, and the kitchen would use them anyway. I've also had a few omelettes pretty burned on one side (and hidden on the inside of the omelette), but Silver Diner is GREAT about making it right - they fix your entree, you get 10% off that meal, and a voucher for a free entree next time. The only annoyance we have is that it can sometimes take servers - especially around 7 pm on weekdays - a LONG time to handle the bill. We are usually splitting it a few ways, but we always tell them upfront and we've run into the problem with one bill too. One server a few months ago had a lot of trouble with three separate checks, three frequent diner cards, and one person's free birthday meal voucher (all of which he knew about upfront). We've waited 30 minutes to get our diner and credit cards back about 30% of the time, but we do make it harder by having several checks per table. So if you're in a rush or splitting your payments, play it safe and ask for and handle the check early in the meal so it's out of the way. read more

My new go to milkshake place. Didn't try the food but tried the strawberry and half and half milkshakes. The strawberry was great, especially with the strawberry chunks in it. The half and half was also awesome--a good level of sweetness and a fluffy but somewhat dense creamy texture. Not to mention the extra milkshake that didn't make it into the glass was nice so if you can, try dining in to get that extra bit! And then Remberto showed up and took care of us even though its not his table. Checked on us frequently. They are lucky to be getting 3 stars from me....what a bittersweet place. Let's start off with the food. If I am to give this place a high rating, it is due to the best burger I've ever had in my life. Yes that is right, the BEST. Their avocado pepperjack burger is hands down LEGIT. It comes with bacon onions and you MUST order it with extra sauteed onions. Unbelievable...after having it many times, I thought wait...why not make it at home? I had a cook out and made the same exact burger...the crowd was very pleased and I realized I will never pay $11+ for this ever again as I think I make it better..but THANK YOU for making me realize what a GREAT burger is. Here is the sad part...they took this burger OFF of the menu...??? Hm...what else have I ordered here...Their Power Breakfast which is an egg white omelete type dish with spinach, feta and tomatoes is decent. A bit heavy on the oil. It comes with strawberries with an odd cinnamon whip cream type sauce which Im not a fan of. The service here is a hit or miss. You either get someone who is on their A game or you get someone who is walking around either too nervous or just doesn't care as it is their first job. I had a server once who said "I will be right back, I'm going to have a ciggarette". This is the second time I came to this place and the service is so bad. The moment I came in there was no host. All employee busy talking. Then a guy came and show my table. I waited 15min for the server. It was a very slow business day. He did not ask if I want appetizer or anything. Later my food came after 20min.
