The lights were about 10 years old, and the ballast for the CFLs were going bad. I was replacing CFL bulbs every six months or so. Not acceptable. I wanted led lights. This was a project that was beyond my DIY skill set. I had been putting it off, but finally decided to get it done. I called Silva and spoke to Gene. He was great. He accommodated my schedule without any trouble. The electrician showed up a few minutes early with a mask. He worked very efficiently and finished the job in a few hours. My laptop wasn't working properly but was able to pinpoint the problem to the home electricity. So an Edison tech asked me to "reset" all the circuit breakers and now half of my house has no power!! This is the second time I've used Silva Electric. The first time to install a ceiling fan and this time to install a couple of camera/floodlights - one on an existing box and the other where there was no existing box. My experience with the ceiling fan install was excellent. I had previously installed two fans myself, but this one didn't fit the existing box so I needed an electrician. The guys from Silva modified the box and got the fan installed. It was a bit bigger job than they had expected, but they stuck to the initial quote. For the camera/lights I was going to get a couple quotes, but I called Silva first and Eugene gave me a very reasonable quote over the phone. Since I had an excellent experience with them the last time, I didn't bother getting any other quotes - just had them do it. I was concerned about the one light that had to go where there was no box. I didn't want ugly wires or conduit running all over the place either inside or outside my house. But the installation was clean with just a short conduit run inside the garage to an existing electrical outlet. I'm quite happy with the job. read more

I've used Eugene Silva for two different projects and have been very pleased with his work and fees both times. A year ago, his worker installed 2 GFCI outlets in bathrooms for electric bidets. Recently, I needed a 240v outlet in the garage for Tesla car charging. Eugene was the first quote I got but I felt obligated to get other quotes for the 240v outlet. I called 5 or 6 other electricians, mostly people who had gotten good reviews on Yelp. Wow, the quotes from the different companies were all over the place! Some electricians did not return my calls. Some electricians do not do any drywall patch and repair at all (you would think with all of the drywall holes they need to make that every electrician would be able to do basic drywall repair). A couple of electricians just weren't very customer service friendly in a couple of brief interactions just to get a quote. I sent pics to all of the electricians and most made it sound like a difficult project, perhaps so they could quote a higher price. In the end, it was a very easy choice to select Eugene to do the work. His positive attitude and confidence that the job would not be problematic was very refreshing. He and his assistant arrived on time, got right to work moving my junk out of the way to clear the workspace, had a positive attitude throughout, patched up the drywall, and vacuumed and cleaned up afterward. Every project is different and so the cost will depend on many factors including where your electrical panel is located, whether your existing panel can handle the additional load, and where you want the new outlet located. We needed ALL of our outlets replaced with babyproof ones, two kitchen ceiling lights replaced with new fixtures, an electrical outlet added to a closet so we could plug in our vacuum where we store it, and a plug added to our attic so we could add a light up there. I'm amazed and impressed with Silva Electric . Michael and Lesley showed up 15 min early . I was just pulling in the driveway . Perfect timing . They were there to hook up the gable exhaust fan in the attic that had been disconnected for some reason. There was also exposed wiring up there that could cause a fire hazard . I also wanted a new 2-way light switch added to the foyer to control the foyer lights from 2 locations . I also wanted an electrical outlet added opposite of the wall where there was an outlet , into the hallway where there was no outlets . They got all that done in 2 hours time, patched the hole they had to make on one wall to run the wire down from the attic to the new switch and cleaned up as if they'd never been there . Both men were polite , neat and clean and wearing uniforms with their names on their shirts . The total bill was $650 , reasonable and less than others but the quality and timeliness was exceptional . Other electricians I've called, never called me back . No problem reaching this company and I will use them again and again. I have ceiling fans I want replaced and an inferior bathroom exhaust fan I'll have them do when I'm ready . I think I've found my electrician! I called a few places to get an estimate for how much it would cost to fix an issue in my house. I had another electrician here who couldn't find the issue after looking for 40 minutes, he then gave me an estimate of $1000+. These folks are good people. Legitimately good people. If you are looking for an honest to goodness good electrician, look no further. I called in needing a quote to install an EV charger in my garage, and Eugene gave me a quote on the spot, which by the way was way more competitive than 5 other quotes I had gotten, and the work was scheduled the following day. Next day - his son Michael shows up with Leslie, and they went to work right away, no fuss no muss. The job ended up being a bit more involved than originally thought and they did not have all the parts. Eugene came in uniform with an assistant and fixed the problem fast and efficiently. First off, Eugene is a very personable man and has quite a tale to tell about his Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The conversation never kept him distracted from the quality of his work though. This is the second time we've had Silva Electric out to our home because the first job they did for us was outstanding! This time they installed 4 recessed lights, a ceiling fan, two new outlets, replaced a regular outlet with GFCI, and installed a dual light switch to control separate parts of the house. Eugene and Anthony asked us questions to make sure they got everything how and where we wanted it. They patched up the ceiling and walls perfectly. We were expecting twice as many holes in the drywall. Now all it needs is a little paint. Eugene charged us "per job" and not "time and materials". Because of our strict budget, we negotiated what the job was going to cost days before his arrival. The job only took 6 hours instead of the 8 hours we set aside for it. I had contacted them with regards to an electrical conduit box that we had out in the yard and wanted to know if it was live or not, and if not, have it removed. The two gentlemen that came out were quick to determine that the box was not live, but they also tracked down where the actual wires were disconnected, and if I wanted to connect something up in the future I could do so. Called the day prior to make an appointment and the day that they were supposed to come out they had called me just before the scheduled appointment time and informed me that they were running a little late (only about 15 minutes or so), which I really appreciated - great communication.
