The beef and chicken shawarma were hefty! They were flavorful and well-prepared. They didn't hold back on the meat, so much so that it spilled out. They also provided a garlic-style sauce on the side that paired well with the shawarma. They offer complimentary tea, which is a nice touch on a chilly night. There are two tables next to the food truck, but just keep in mind that it's located in a gas station parking lot. The wait was a bit long, but the food was well worth it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It's a nice local spot to try some Uzbek and Middle Eastern cuisine

Excited to try a new food truck, but unfortunately they were out of stuff already at 7:30pm on a Wednesday night. Wanted to try the plov since I've never had it before, but was informed it would take 1 hour as they were making it fresh. A little long to wait so I opted for the chicken shawarma, they were also out of that so I guess beef shawarma it is. At least I was able to try the chicken and cheese samsa and cheburek. The chicken and cheese samsa was very mediocre. The bottom of it was doughy and tough to chew like it was over baked. Hardly noticed the filling because of it. The cheburek on the other hand was light and soft, although it doesn't look like it has much filling. Resembles more of a pancake/Thai roti than a pastry. The beef shawarma was the standout although while I was eating it, I keep thinking it was be tough like the samsa, it was not. Accompanying the food was like a salsa or some sort, I liked that a lot as it brought a bright, refreshing flavor to everything. The french fries were fried well, salted well, and there was a nice big portion. Located next to a gas station. There's about 1-2 tables for seating but everyone I saw here was taking it to-go like me. Minimal interactions with the staff, but they were friendly. Plenty of parking available. Overall, a little disappointed as I wasn't able to order what I wanted, especially since it's a new truck. Also disappointed with the samsa. Realistically, I'd give this place a 3.5 but there's not an option for that.

Plov w/ lamb + beef, carrots ($16.95), Chicken & Cheese Samsa ($7), Beef & Lamb Samsa ($8)

3.5 STARS What I like about Mountain View and Sunnyvale is the diversity of their food truck scene - arepas, pupusas, momos, chaats, falafels, döner kebabs, koobideh, grilled lamb liver, Gujarati/Surti egg dishes, dosas, and much more. And, now there's a new food truck: Silq Road serving Uzbek and Central AZN cuisine! F O O D * Plov ($16.95) A traditional Uzbek rice pilaf cooked with lamb and beef, the plov was aromatic and flavorful but unfortunately seemed past its prime. The rice was hard and crunchy, while the lamb and beef were a bit dry. We also seemed to receive noticeably less meat...about half the amount shown in their business' pics. * Tandoor Samsa -- Chicken + Cheese ($7) -- Beef + Lamb ($8) Between the two, the beef + lamb samsa stood out for the generous amount of savory meat filling. The flaky pastry layers were hard and tough tho esp the bottoms. * Cheburek ($5) Fried to order, the cheburek is much thinner and crispier cousin of an empanada. The fried pastry is crunchy and blistered with a juicy paper-thin slice of ground beef. GET THIS! Overall, I hate to be the first person to not give 5 stars so I'm hoping my experience was just an anomaly. There's def potential in the flavors but sadly, the textures and freshness fell short so rounding down.

***4.5 stars*** Amazing food and very hospitable service. Only two small outdoor tables next to the truck. We shared the cheburek, plov, beef & lamb samsa, chicken pita, and side of fries. My favorites were the cheburek which was perfectly flaky and flavorful, fries which had perfectly crispy batter, and plov which was hearty and aromatic (though on the oily side). They were out of the chicken & cheese samsas, so we got the beef & lamb samsas. They were good but a bit on the dry side and the pastry was tougher to bite through and meat inside was slightly chewy. Chicken pita was good but didn't stand out to me as much as the other dishes. Overall fantastic meal and excited to see them succeed and gain popularity!

Came back for the second time because I was craving their tandoor samsy again Fresh, hot, crispy, and juicy inside. Ayran goes perfectly with it. Tip: order ahead if you can! it's worth the wait!

Shawarma

Fantastic Middle Eastern food! I've had the shawarma, samsa, and chebureki, and everything was super tasty! The shawarma was really tasty, the meat was tender and perfectly seasoned, and the samsa and chebureki are always fresh, crispy, and super delicious. You can really tell that the food is prepared with love! The taste is really interesting, and I will keep coming back for more! I have been eating at this place every day for a week and can't get enough of it! That's how good this place is. It is one of the best food trucks around, and I will always want to eat there again! If you love Middle Eastern food, you should definitely check this place out! I would highly recommend shawarma, samsa, and chebureki!

Very good

I had a great experience at Silk Road Food Truck! The food was fresh, flavorful, and full of authentic Silk Road flavors. Everything was cooked perfectly and the portions were generous. The service was friendly and welcoming, and you can really taste the quality in the food. Definitely worth trying if you're looking for something delicious and different. I'll definitely be coming back!

Really long wait food is pricey and the beef kebabs were tough and dry. Would not go again. I really wanted to like it

I picked up the cake around 4:30 PM. At 6 PM, when we cut the cake, we discovered that the cake was frozen inside. I specifically asked about this in advance and explained why it was important to me. I was given a clear confirmation, yet I received something completely different from what I ordered. Unfortunately, this is not the first time this has happened. It is extremely frustrating when a customer asks a very specific question, receives a clear answer, and then the exact opposite happens. I do not recommend this place. Very disappointed. It feels like they will say whatever it takes to take your order, without actually honoring what was promised.

Ever find a place to be...lacking hospitality to new faces in a restaurant?…read more Let's talk about the service first. We came on a Friday night and there were 2-3 other tables. Our server did not give us a breakdown of any dish, or even the categories on the menu (which by the way, are in Russian). They kinda expected us to "know" everything on the menu. My wife and I ended up googling EVERYTHING, and deciding on what to eat after reading other yelp reviews and what the dishes looked like. After taking a good 10mins of googling and figuring out what to order, we had to raise our hand several times, to a point where we had to call our waiter over vocally and with a hand wave to take our order. The restaurant really isn't big with only 2 other tables being occupied, and I guess locals do come here often and chat with the servers, but we're talking a good extra 5min of not looking at a menu and just waiting. People are raving about the service but I personally just didn't experience the same kind of hospitality. We ordered a borsch, a beef stroganoff, and a viennese schnitzel. I wouldn't say the food came out slow, but it was at the pace of a homecooked meal. The borsh tasted a lot better than ones I've had, and the sour cream was very creamy and fresh. The beef stroganoff was the star of the show with how flavorful and creamy it was. The beef was very tender, and the kasha was especially good. It's definitely enough to fill one person up. The viennese schnitzel is basically a fried pork cutlet (like a katsu) but with different seasonings and paired with some kind of red sauce. The mashed potatoes...were just mashed potatoes. The portion felt a little small for the price for what you get, pork cutlet and mashed potatoes being $27. I can see how authentic this place is, but being tucked so far away in Richmond naturally gets it lower foot traffic than other more accessible spots. The food is delicious and if people are willing to take their grandparents here, then you know it's authentic. I just wish the service was more attentive. The portions to price ratio was also pretty low, and I left feeling a little hungry despite spending $75 before tax and tip for 2. This place is feels more geared to reminiscing a childhood flavor with the family over a date night IMO.

Everything I tried was delish! Cheese & Dill Chebureki: Unlike anything I've had before and I've had a lot of savory filled dough things! The cheese is stretchy and salty and delicious. The fresh dill is a perfect herbal contrast to all that richness. The dough is light and airy and crispy, just fried to order. Also nice with that red sauce that comes on the side Potato & Onion Piroshki: Another deep fried dough pastry. More dough and more filling than the chebureki. Kinda felt like Italian fried dough. Though the filling was definitely not Italian, with subtle smooth potatoes and caramelized onions. Surprisingly light for deep fried. Lamb Samsa: A flaky baked dough with dense bits of lamb inside. The dough on the bottom was particularly dense and hard. Wasn't crazy about the texture, but the taste was solid. Lamb Pigodi: Essentially a giant steamed dumpling, cut open and stuffed with shredded carrot salad. It was difficult to eat with the plastic spork provided. That aside, it had nicely spiced minced lamb filling and lots of thick dough outside. Shashlik Wrap: Fluffy pita bread made by them, not from a plastic bag. Lots of fresh veggies and herbs. The onions and carrot slaw give a nice tang. Plus skewers of lamb for that nice pita combination. The lamb came on skewers, so you had to pull it off. Didn't seem grilled to order, but was probably grilled a tad earlier in the day.
