I, as well as a number of other homeowners here in Tortolita Vistas are so disappointed in Signal Gates and their inability to live up to promises they have made. Our HOA signed a contract with them back in May after they had promised us that they would begin repairs on our security gates by mid June. They actually started work on them just about 10 days ago, so lie #1. We were told it would probably take between 2 to 3 weeks to complete work on each gate (we have 2) that needed to be repaired. That is not going to happen so lie #2. Signal says this delay is caused by the fact they don't have the proper materials and parts. Yet on their homepage, they say that outside contractors and individuals can come to their warehouse and buy parts. They should have ordered set aside all the parts and materials they planned on using for our contract. We have no security gates for our community and we are upset. Would suggest any further customers get firm guarantees on all aspects of their contract since obviously Signal Gates can't be trusted. read more

Signal Gates installed new gates at the Villages of La Canada. The work was supposed to be done in 6 weeks, but it took over 5 months. Now that the gates are in, the response time on the entry gates is horribly slow. But the real problem is that one of them does not respond to motorcycles trying to exit. I have no idea what kind of controller they use, but in this day and age for a system to take 5-10 seconds to respond to an entry, and then to not respond at all to a large motorcycle on the exit is horribly poor performance. read more

We had a electronic gate system replaced by Signal Gates in Tucson about two years ago. It was only the controller motor and assembly replaced on an existing gate. The job ended up being more expensive than the original estimate but we went along with the advice of the installer and paid the additional amounts billed. Within the first few months the gate operated erratically and at times would not open when activated. Of course, it was necessary to call for service each time. Adjustments were made to the controller and it was explained by the technician that these adjustments are necessary to achieve optimal operation. After 2 visits we were then told there is no further warranty and we would need to pay for each service call. We were even charged an emergency fee at one visit. Signal Gates took no responsibility for their obviously incorrect installation and would not work with us to make it right without ongoing inappropriate service charges. We had to call another gate company to get the job done. They came out same day without charging additional fees and reset the unit in one visit. We've had no trouble with the gate since! I did a follow-up call to Signal Gates to let them know we had the gate repaired by another company in one visit and we would not be paying their bill. The owner of Signal Gates herself took the call and was downright nasty on the phone call and told me she had no intention of ever serving us again anyway because we did not pay our bill on time. Signal Gates is not an honest company and I do not recommend them. read more

They installed a solar gate last year. Last week, for the fifth time we had to dismantle it to get out of our driveway. We frequently have gotten calls from suppliers who can't get in and at first thought they weren't using it right -now we know it's not their mistake. Signal Gates usually manages to come out a few days after we call then, then charge us to replace one thing or another, such as a remote that works from more than ten feet, a battery, another battery, etc. And then the gate won't work a month later and we have to dismantle it to get out of the driveway, because the key to the box to reset it, that we've asked for 3 times now, still isn't in our hands. Last Saturday I left a message on their "emergency" message machine, because I couldn't get out, and my partner who knows how to dismantle the gate wasn't there. They called us back Monday. Came out. Fixed something they had already fixed. And yup, sure enough, another bill arrived the next day. Well, at least their billing is prompt. read more

I have lived four years in Green Valley, in an HOA with a gate serviced by Signal Gate. I never have seen any maintenance done. They seem to do a lot of sitting in their car, the few times I have actually seen them here. I called and asked what they do for maintenance. The woman that answered the phone got very angry and defensive. She was very rude and cut me off in mid sentence. We had a member run into pad and bent the pole. We were told they would not honor the maintenance service contract unless the bent pole was straightened and an inspection was done. The pole was already straightened by the person that ran into it, and was functioning perfectly! $2,600 dollars and a bag of concrete made it all good. What a joke!! The gate does not open occasionally. I ride a big heavy motorcycle and was told it was too light to trip the sensor. Maybe a small motorcycle, but how do they explain a trash truck not being able to get out. Then I was told we needed to purchase a new loop sensor in order for the gate to open reliably, and that would cost around $300 dollars plus labor, and then I would still need to purchase a remote to get out of the gate!!! read more

Brenda (she sits at the front desk) is not very helpful. In fact, she attempts to get one to purchase things not needed (she informed me that I had to purchase a new keypad). I knew that she was incorrect. All I needed was a new cover. Luckily, Ken was working and fixed the problem without making me purchase a new unit. He is great at what he does, and is honest. I rate him a 5 out of 5. read more

HORRIBLE Customer service with a lady at 4:55 p.m. on 05/01/17. I paid for 2 extra remotes for my gated community and I was told when I ordered them that they would contact my HOA to get authority to issue them. I was notified the remotes were ready the next day and I went and paid $80. That was on 03/17/17. I was told they would be ready to work. That lead me to believe everything was fine. Our gate for our gated community was broken for the longest time (like it often is) and so I didn't think much when the remotes didn't work. The HOA actually replaced the key entry to our gated community and so now I am trying to use my new remotes for my sons who now drive. Now it is many weeks later and i tried both and neither work. The lady I spoke to was VERY rude and said I needed to call my HOA because although they faxed over (allegedly) a request on 03/16 and 03/27, they never got the form back and they never bothered to notify me of the problem. They sure were quick to take my $80 for two new remotes that don't work! I am shocked. I will follow up with my HOA tomorrow; but meantime, I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND giving any business to this horrible company. I asked to speak to a boss or manager and the lady said there is no leadership. I find that hard to believe. I will deal with them in person after I get the appropriate form from my HOA. We are very pleased with the level of service Signal Gates provides. In particular, they have a well informed professional staff. We sincerely appreciate their responsiveness to our service requests. Coming from a community that has over 16 gate systems in place, it's very important to insure that all systems are functioning properly. THIS COMPANY IS NOT HONEST ! the gate opener sometimes does not open and I have to jump to fence to do it manually open it when I call Signal Gates and told them they sent someone out and said theres nothing wrong with it everything checks out NEWS FLASH ! the damn part is only $36 dollars and has been there for at least 17 yrs instead of replacing it they decided NOT to so they can charge me another $100 to come out again. THIS COMPANY JUST DONT CARE ! This is a company that does not deliver what is promised. The only thing they are good at is charging you for service that was their fault. Pure and simple this is not a good company. They talk the talk but cannot provide the walk. Their sales staff swaggers and says what ever they can to get the booking. Then they fail to deliver what was in the written contract. The Arizona Registrars of Contractors has ruled that Signal Gates (through Paul Turner) failed to perform as required. Signal Gates appealed this decision and again after engaging a lawyer, lost the second hearing with the Arizona Registrars and then the court refused to hear their third appeal, saying there was no reason to continue the dispute. Is this what you want? If you want to be involved with arguments and disputes, engage them. If you want a clean professional job, chose someone who is now a cowboy in the street and will say anything to get the business. We ripped out all the work they did and went with another company. read more
