He worked patiently through the challenge of having to dig between an existing chain link fence and a row of mature oleander, which has very thick and intrusive roots. Both he and his wife Liz communicated very well throughout the whole job. They are both super nice and show up when expected. We could not be happier with the final result. We love our new fence! We are so glad that we found RR Masonry and highly recommend Ruben for your masonry needs.

They respond quickly, let you know when they'll be there, let you know if something comes up, and keep you posted on progress. I cannot begin to tell you how rare that is. We worked with them on regrading a portion of our yard and building a retaining wall with a built-in planted. Esteban was able to come over for an estimate within a few days, took measurements and pictures, and then got back to me with a design idea that he drew along with the details of what stones would be used. The quote was on par with other quotes we had received. They got us on the schedule within a couple of days and they finished the project as well as a complete yard clean-up within a week. That's bananas if you didn't realize. We'll be getting regular service from them from here on and have a few more projects lined up.

I searched for a masonry contractor, call a half dozen, three came out to the site, and we really "clicked" with Braulio. He grew up in his father's and uncle's construction business and has now branched out on his own. I cannot recommend Southwest Valley Contracting highly enough. Braulio and his employees (including his brother and cousin) are polite, prompt, and know their stuff. Braulio communicated both in person and via text multiple times throughout the process to be sure we were always on the same page. He listened to our ideas and concerns and then gave us his professional insight. His price was right in line with the bids from the other two contractors and very fair considering the brute labor required in 100+ temperatures! They demolished our existing wall and began trenching for the new footer in one day. Then the rebuild began with perfect integration to the existing wall. They even came on the weekend to finish what they started. Plus, they regraded the backyard, fixed a couple of broken irrigation drip lines and cleaned up all their construction debris. In less than 2 weeks, we had doubled the sized of our backyard! Our beautiful new wall is stuccoed and ready for paint. We will definitely call SWVC when we're ready to put in our fireplace and pavers. Even our neighbor was so impressed he wants to use them for his next project.

In a final attempt, I asked for a referral, and they gave Braulio's info and high praises. They were right! Braulio answered all questions in a very knowledgable manner, gave the second lowest price out of six bids, and was the most professional across the board. Even hitting a snag with the project, which is not uncommon in construction, he made sure there was communication, follow through, and resolution. I couldn't ask for anything more. He did a great job and at a reasonable price. Even with me being a bit of a control freak, Braulio never missed a beat. We made sure that there was clarity on what I wanted, what he could provide, and if it was a good fit. This project was for cutting back my block wall and widening the gate opening, as well as using a composite material for pickets versus wood. We are very pleased! We have already discussed that we will call on him again when we are ready for our paver/gas firepit addition. I don't give recommendations freely but will for Braulio and Southwest Valley Contracting!

I waited thirty days past install date and was told another month the gates would be finished. Numerous excuses and delays. Finally he showed up to install the very large and heavy gates alone. Being it was late in the afternoon he dropped off the gates and said he would return the next day. We noticed on one of the gates it was a foot too short also numerous areas that had damage. We took photos and sent them along with our concerns to him. His response was very angry and unprofessional , that's all I have to say about it. He came to our home the next day and took the gates and never returned to finish the job . So i even tried reaching out to have the job completed and was told no not interested too busy. Lots of back and forth about marking the water lines that run under the fence line between the meter and the house. I didn't want the project to start until those lines were marked and Rudy didn't care. Rudy told me installation could begin because he had clearance from the Tucson Water Department. But it turns out that the city only clears the line running to the meter, not the lines from the meter to the house. I found out, after calling 811 (Before You Dig), that the lines to the house are considered private and that I needed to hire a private contractor to locate the lines, which I did. Despite the lines having been marked, the crew broke one the first day on the job. Rudy told me it was an irrigation line (happens all the time according to him). After several unsuccessful attempts to fix the "irrigation line", a plumber was called hours later to fix the broken water line. All in all an extremely unpleasant experience with a happy ending -- a very nice fence.
