This review is long overdue. In 2015, my neighbors and I contracted Sierra Masonry to remove our backyard wall after we had been approved to take back an old easement that was our property. Sierra Masonry came in and did a great job. For us, they installed an opening for a pedestrian gate. Since then, we have had no issues. Fast forward 2024... By accident, we found a portion of the block wall to the one side of the pedestrian gate wobbled. There was no indication of foundation issues or damage. Of course, I called Sierra Masonry. They came out, inspected it, and backed their work. They fixed it! We were surprised and at the same time so relieved. Two of their workers came out. They were considerate of our property, professionals, and cleaned up afterwards. The only thing we had to do was to get the gate reinstalled. I definitely would recommend Sierra Masonry to our family and friends. As note, they may not respond by phone immediately but I was able to follow up and get things taken care of. read more

To be clear up front, I did not actually receive services from this company. However, it was not for lack of trying! Called last week to schedule someone to come out and evaluate a damaged block wall shared with my neighbor, so we needed to coordinate a time when both of us would be available. Scheduling the appointment was actually smooth and easy. We were told the estimator would arrive at 1pm today, but could be +/- 20 minutes from that. Great, that's actually a much tighter window than most contractors give, so no problem! We arranged for a call-ahead so that my neighbor and I would be ready when the estimator arrived. At 1:30, no estimator and no call, so I called back to the office for an updated ETA -- no answer so I left a detailed message asking for a response. By 2:20, a full hour after the latest time we were originally promised, still no call and no show, so I called back to the office. This time I did get a real person, and explained the situation -- no recognition on her part of my previous message, so either it hadn't been checked yet, or someone else got the message and failed to follow up. I asked to cancel the appointment entirely and politely explained why I would not be doing business with them. I understand that scheduling slips do occur, but with a valid call-ahead number there is absolutely no excuse for not at a minimum calling the customer to explain the delay, PRIOR to the end of the promised window. Certainly going an hour beyond the promised window with no call, even after prompting by the customer, is entirely unacceptable and reflects poorly on the company. If they are this irresponsible when they're supposed to be trying to earn your business, that does not bode well for their behavior once on the job. This company may well be very good at the work itself (all the positive reviews here are why I called in the first place), and again I want to stress that the schedulers I spoke to on the phone were very nice and tried to be helpful (the sole reason for 2 stars), so I don't blame them at all. However, the people who were supposed to actually do the work (estimation in this case) completely and unforgivably dropped the ball. read more

Remember when customer was king? You know you hire someone to do a job for you and they did it right, on time and no games? Well do not hesitate to use this company. This business is the real deal and you should be confident choosing them. From the moment we called the office, the professional, courteous, efficient and pleasant staff is impressive. And whether you contact them via phone or email they respond in a timely manner. For example; as soon as the owner quoted us a price for work we wanted done the proposal was emailed to us within one hour, and as soon as the building inspector would come for inspections I would call the office to let them know he was here but they already knew and they were always ready to tell us what the next step was. If we had questions and called the office they always pleasantly answered them and if they didn't know the answer they would find out and call back immediately. Paperwork was sent immediately, following up on something again was always done in a timely manner. They are on the ball! I think we all know how rare an efficient office is these days! What a pleasure to work with people who take pride in their jobs. Thank you Magaly and Yesica! As soon as we met the owner Javier we knew we were going to hire him. He went into such detail about the retaining wall we wanted, it was impressive. He is professional, courteous yet a down to earth super nice person. He quoted us a price and that's what we paid, no games no extras no BS! In fact while he was still building our wall we hired him for more work! Javier knows how to run a business which is so rare today. Javier is available to speak with you anytime and he gives you a business card with his cell phone and he answer his phone! His payment policy is extremely fair too and it's because he gets the job done and done right! Now about the men who do this unbelievable hard work. These men will embarrass even the fittest of the fittest! They work so hard and non stop and I really don't know how they do it. They worked in some record breaking heat but still managed to dig a 65 foot long trench pulling boulders out of the ground BY HAND IN ONE DAY! Then the next day they built the 65 × 4 foot cinder block wall in under 4 hours. They just kept going and going. They are extremely respectful and very courteous. In fact they were so quiet I never knew they were out there. They kept our property immaculate from any kind of debris and the work site was ALWAYS clean and neat. In fact some dirt came off their truck when they left (they didn't know it) and when they came back the next day without being asked THEY IMMEDIATELY CLEANED IT UP!!!! These guys are awesome! The men who put the veneer stone on did an outstanding job. Absolutely beautiful work. They were meticulous. They too worked their ass off in the heat. Because of how impressed I was with the office, Javier and the hard working guys and BEFORE they finished the first job I added to the job. I added veneer stone on the columns on my patio and my BBQ and it too looks absolutely beautiful!!!. And again they were so meticulous and very courteous to our property. In fact, when we got home and looked outside they were done and long gone but they surprisingly cleaned our patio up!! something we neglected purposely because we knew men would be working on it. And Javier works with you. He sent pictures of stone to choose from and the one I had my heart set on (for 2 years) wasn't in the choices. I was devastated and didn't sleep all night. I thought I've been staring at a particular stone on a neighboring home for 2 years dreaming of one day my house getting that same stone and how stupid I was not to tell this to Javier before I hired him. Well Javier came to our house the next day and I showed him a picture of the stone I wanted. He knew exactly what the name of the stone was, he drove by the house that had the stone on it and I got what I wanted and my yard looks beautiful (I should have just called Javier and I wouldn't have lost any sleep!) See its not just about the money.... Javier wants you to be happy, really happy! This is by far the best company I have ever dealt with and I am 100% satisfied with them. I'm only giving this company 1 star... I reached out to have someone come out to give me an estimate on my block wall. After making an appointment, it had to be rescheduled the day of, ok I understand. The next appointment they forgot to show up. So I had them out for a third try, they showed up!, but never followed back up. When permits were mentioned because of being in an association and having inspectors involved, they never reached back out. Just be cautious. read more

There was a hiccup in the communication of one of the cost estimates, but Javier stepped up and addressed the issue fairly and professionally. He gets the work done very quickly and efficiently with a large crew of workers. He stands by his work and is willing to make any corrections or adjustments along the way. This review is for two projects that Sierra Masonry just completed for me. First project was extending a 6-foot retaining wall by 60 ft. The quality of the material and workmanship was excellent. Second project was for my rental property. I hired them to erect 25 ft x 6 ft retaining wall. That project took less than a week to complete. I asked Javier to give me an estimate on Monday morning. He was able to provide and estimate the same day and had the whole project finished by Thursday including pulling the permit. Overall I am really impressed with the quality of the work and professionalism. They cleaned up after the work and left the place better both times. These guys know what they are doing. Took measurements, told me to send pics of the fence I wanted & said he'd get back to me with a quote. Nothing after a week, so I emailed asking for quote. Since Sierra Masonry has their own engineering department they were able to get the size of the footer reduced. Not only is their work impressive, we were also very impressed with the reliable, clear communication we received. These guys were like a breath of fresh air! I had high hopes for Sierra as they had good reviews on Yelp, however, their lack of communication and ghosting caused us to cancel our project with them. We needed the corner of our block wall repaired as a tree had grown into the wall causing a gap. I called May 20th and sent some photos of the wall. They said they would talk with their estimator. No response for five days until I followed up about the estimator and they sent him out. The estimator Jose came out and took a look at the wall with my husband. He discussed with my husband that they would give an estimate for the walls and also options of having someone trim part of the tree that was growing in the corner. On June 7, I got an estimate for wall repairs with no options regarding tree trimming. After consideration and questions with them on the price, I signed it on June 23rd. Got a response that they received the signed estimate but then no communication from them until July 7th when I asked them if they still planned on doing the project. They gave us two days that they could do it and said they'd call the day before they came. The day before, they called and told me that their guys had been sick, so they needed to postpone the project. Which was fine with me, this stuff happens. We changed the date to the next Tuesday morning. The day before that, some guys came over to take a look at the wall to make sure they knew how many blocks to bring over. The next day, no one showed up, and no one called to tell me anything. I called the office, and they failed to give me an update on where they were or why they weren't showing. Called the office several hours later and left a message. Got a call back from Jose the estimator, who proceeded to try and get me to pay an extra $2k for a second wall which was not included in the estimate. He tried to tell me this was something he had discussed with my husband, which was not the case -- there was no indication on the quote or presented as an alternative option with a second quote. Our feeling from their correspondence was that our job was too small and they didn't want to do it in the first place. Direct communication would have wasted a lot less of our time and stress for us. If you don't do small jobs, say upfront that you don't do small jobs. read more
