I contacted Happy Wall by text and sent a picture of the job. Arturo responded almost immediately with a very competitive price. I'm so sorry that this review is 2 years overdue but I can't recommend Brown Masonry and Mr. Brown…read moreenough. Yelp really came through with this find. It was nice dealing with a veteran owned business that feels really personal with a hands on owner. For some stupid reason 1 side of my wall was basically missing a row of blocks. I've always HATED that my neighbor and I could stare into each other's patio doors without trying. I never wanted to offend him by asking to build the wall up but I took advantage to bring it up as they were moving out. He said yeah he hated it too so go for it. He's on the HOA board so my architectural request got approved within days and the search for a mason began. I got a bunch of responses to my Yelp project request with some saying they don't do small jobs like mine, some crazy quotes of 2k (assume that was F off pricing). Luckily Mr. Brown responded with an incredibly fair quote after I sent details and photos and I think he stopped by the next morning to drop off samples to make sure the colors matched. We got it scheduled pretty quickly and his in person quote was a little lower than the text quote, which has never happened before. It really says what a good and honest person you're dealing with. His guy came out on time, was nice and did a great job. The only issue was that I didn't think I had to mention the mortar should match the existing not match the block color. I didn't pay attention and only caught it after it was done. Mr Brown came out to take a look and his suggestion was to cover the brown mortar with grey. It's not an exact match (I knew it wouldn't be) but it's good enough and I really appreciate his quick response. Masonry work isn't something that comes up often but I will use Brown Masonry again any chance I get. Thank you so much Mr. Brown

No, they didn't mess it up the first or second time--I just suffer from a little thing called squirrel syndrome (aka ADHD + chronic indecisiveness + an unhealthy relationship with Pinterest). Thankfully, Norse Painting came through like champs--again. They were professional, punctual, and didn't even judge me (out loud) for repainting the same space twice. But a bit later when the tops of our newly stuccoed fences started looking like they were wet and I texted Jacob several pictures showing him what had occurred, he said he'd come by to check the fence and said "I will stop by to check on it. Most time it's because dirty water and dust on the top layer block Jacob " Not quite sure what that means, I'm guessing if he's saying that the stucco was applied on top of a dirty fence on a brand new home, perhaps they should've used a blower or suggested we do it, if it was going to have an adverse effect on the completed fence. Why would we spend that kind of $ and not get a good result? We've had pretty hard rain since and my fence still looks the same in most of the areas. These are just 3 of the 11 photos I sent to Jacob.
