    Sierra Lodge room

We booked for three nights. On arrival we found good covered parking, friendly hard-working staff to check us in, and a clean comfortable room. We asked for a top (second) floor room and received one. We felt safe opening the windows at night to cool down. Very little traffic noise from the main road. Good mattresses. Some issues: 1: Internet and TV stopped working just before we arrived. When it worked, at a quiet time of the night, we received 8 Mbps download, 1 Mbps upload, which is a bit slow for uploading vacation photos. Hotel says it is the fastest available in town. 2: Without Internet, we had just enough cell signal (using AT&T) to read email and send texts but not to read the news. 3: Sharp nail in the floor next to the bathroom door and bathroom extractor fans did not work. Due to COVID-19, maintenance staff will not enter an occupied room. 4: The floor mounted AC recirculated the room air leaving the air perhaps a little less fresh than a window mounted unit. The AC cooled the room well, but after a while I found it a bit stuffy with 2 people in the room. This unit is noisier than some window-mounted units; the noise and lights may bother a light sleeper. 5: We smelled pot smoke about 7 am each day. While California allows the use of pot, the hotel is a nonsmoking property. 6: The walkway to the parking lot has breeze blocks with peeling paint! I discussed most of these concerns with the hotel via Expedia messaging and got some pushback. If I find something that needs improvement in a hotel, I tell them. Then the hotel has the chance to fix it and give the next guest a better experience. It would help if other guests did the same.

Booked this room for a holiday weekend. Almost $800 for 3 nights. NOT worth it. The front desk was super nice and accommodating. The room however was not nice at all. The chairs had screws loose which would've been ok however I have a little one who could've easily sliced their side if they hit it. The AC was a portable unit and took a whole day to cool down the room. The beds were so hard it was nearly impossible to get a good nights rest especially after hiking. The WIFI is terrible and was absolutely useless the whole weekend. There was roach killer patches (not sure what they're actually called) that were sitting under the sink, again not something safe for children. The locks on the room didn't work my son could easily open the door and get out, or someone who had a key could come in so that was really uncomfortable. The blow dryer went off because it got too hot after being in use for about 30 seconds. Overall I would not stay here again.

Stayed here 4 nights and had no problems at all. Staff was super nice and rooms were clean. Kitchenette really came in handy with the big fridge and sink. Room was big with plenty of room to move around. Jacuzzi was amazing. Will definitely stay there again next time we visit.

The hotel is a little older and is showing its age, but the price is good and the location is perfect. There is a bus stop at the corner and your right across the street from John's and Morrison's. Parking is a little difficult if you have a tall or long vehicle, but with the free bus lines during the snow season I never had to move my truck. The hotel staff was excellent! From the top down. Our room had a kitchenette with a small sink. The hotel supplies dishes, paper towels, and even dish soap. I had brought some food with me and left my personal dishes in the sink to wash later and they washed my dirty dishes for me! Our room was made up daily and the staff was always polite and professional. It was supposed to snow heavily the day before we were to check out I was concerned with my truck getting stuck in the back underground lot. The manager moved his vehicle and allowed me to back my truck Into the front lot so I could load up and pull straight out! We had one of the best times of our lives and part of that was staying here!!

Great little lodge, If you heading up to Mammoth for a winter vacation and your needs are simple this place is GREAT. The building was built in the 70's and there is no AC in the rooms but there is major heat. The rooms are HUGE compared to other places in the area. King size bed, vanity area, microwave, refrigerator, iron, love seats, patio, and HEAT and HOT water. They also offer a free breakfast. Oddly, there are some complaints on here about a FREE BREAKFAST. Sure its just oatmeal, bagels, cereal, OJ, Milk, cookies, and fruit but ITS FREE ! They also have FREE WiFi in the entire building. They have FREE COVERED PARKING and the shuttle to Mammoth picks you up on the front steps.

The closest Westin @LAX has the fat comforters right now. The heavenly comforters should be year round. Not some half drawn out thing. Missing the lavender sleep rollers they used to put by the beds. Probably the most mediocre welcome drink pour I have ever had. Elevators scratched and hallways would benefit from touch up paint. Special applause for house keeping, they made our stay better. 3/2025 -- The best stay we have had. Thanks for the mid week room upgrade to a one bedroom. 1/2025 -- It's a solid option. I actually prefer the studio or 1 bedroom units over the 2 bedroom suites. The 2 bedroom penthouse is nice with the big windows. Across all the rooms, the couches are not very comfortable and the in room kitchen feels a little lackluster in appliance quality. Beds are comfortable. I would have designed the bedrooms with a chair or spot to sit. Housekeeping and front desk were warm and accommodating -- they delivered robes, towels, a dog bed, blankets, cutlery, extra pans, etc on a daily basis. Organized and prompt service. Issue with bill and wrong CC on file (which was my fault) resolved - no issue at all. Never rude or inconsiderate. Hallways could benefit from touch up paint. Elevator scratches would benefit from a polish. Active construction -- kind of a bummer if you own one of these units or you are facing the new project. Watch those bonvoy redemptions and rates (which were half what they are now prior to the property remodel in 2022). As most people know, the Marriott system squeezes and changes rapidly. 5/2024 -- Had a pleasant stay during May. The only downside and definitely a star deduction was perhaps it was too clean and smelled strongly of cleaning solution. We left open all the window and turned up the heat at night and turned on all the fans when we left for the day and by the second day, it was tolerable. Continental breakfast was fine with hard boiled eggs and yogurt for protein and cream cheese and peanut butter and all the toastable carbs. We loved our hikes and I loved kayaking on Twin Lakes. Convict Lake and Mammoth Lakes were on my bucket list for so many years. Living in the Bay Area means it's a rough 5-6 hours of driving through windy mountainous roads. Thus, we wanted to pick a place to stay that could provide us the comfort of home we needed. And Convict Lake Resort delivered! From the booking process to checking in and later checking out, everything was a breeze! We received emails reminder from staff detailing easy steps needed to check in. When it looked like we might arrive late, they promptly sent us instructions for self check in. Luckily we arrived on time before the gift shop close. Each cabin has 1 parking spot for your car. However, there are many parking spaces within walking distance to your cabin if you and your party happen to have more than 1 car. As soon as we opened the door into our cabin, our stress and exhaustion of the long drive melted away! We love the high vaulted ceiling, the warm woody interior and how spacious and clean the inside of our cabin was! It was so welcoming and smells so good! You could tell that the staff did a wonderful job cleaning and preparing for your stay! Thank you ! The kitchen area was another highlights of the cabin! It was big with full amenities! We used it so many times during our stay to cook our meals and everything in between! Microwaves, fridges, freezer, chopping board, plate wares, forks and spoons, etc. You name it, they have it! There's a door by the kitchen area which gave you access to the mini wood behind your cabin. We once spotted some deers here during twilight times . And the BATHROOM!!! We LOVE IT!! Super spacious with nice rain-forest shower head! After a long day being active outside like hiking, kayaking and other stuff, we came home to the cabin, hopped into the shower and let all our fatigue washed away! I swear this shower had some acupuncture magic as it soothed my tired body so well! The sliding door to the bathroom was so modern and chic itself. We love the tiny windows looking out to the wood beside our cabin. We joked to each other that "Number 2 with a great view !" Not only the inside was amazing, the outside porch area with the gas grill was another bonus! Never had we ever seen such a clean grill like this! Kudos again to the staff ! We utilized the grill many times during our visits and enjoyed a dinner or breakfast outdoor with our pup :) And first time in our life, we saw such a dog friendly place! Every cabin seemed to have at least one dog. My puppy Butter had such a wonderful socializing with all his furry friends and neighbors. We enjoyed walking around and checking out the resort on the lovely trails surrounding the resort and looked at all the amazing mountains. Convict Lake Resort is just 10 minutes of walking and 5 minutes of driving from Convict Lake. Location! Location! Location!! There's a lovely restaurant onsite that I'll review in details in another review :) Overall, AMAZING place and words cannot describe how satisfied we were! We'll definitely come back and recommend this place with all our family and friends :)

I…read moremean, if you're a skiier, you probably already know about it, but in the off season (before the snows), you can get a room for a low rate, and still have the whole of Mammoth Lakes at your doorstep to explore! Tons of shops, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, etc. await! For amenities, Juniper Springs Resort boasts a pool, an exercise room, a jacuzzi, and beautiful lounging areas. The rooms all have small balconies where you can get some fresh air and admire the scenery. And (we learned mid-trip) the resort is one of four regular stops for the local free shuttle/trolley that comes by every 30 minutes or so and is free to use. On top of that, the resort is adjacent to one of Mammoth Lakes' many ski lifts, so at least some of the runs are available literally right at your doorstep. The room we rented was comfortable and spacious, with a full kitchen, nice comfy living room with gas fireplace, and a separate bedroom, and there were TVs in both rooms. Parking, by the way, is underground, which is assuredly a huge perk during the winter snows. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and would definitely consider staying there again. Couple of things they could have done better: 1. Guests should be made aware at check-in of the availability of the shuttle/trolley. My sweetheart was stuck at the hotel for a day until we figured this out for ourselves, as even when asked about Uber/Lyft, the front desk never mentioned the shuttle. 2. The ice machine on the 4th floor was perpetually empty. Not sure if it was just being regularly raided by other guests, or if it was in need of service. 3. A blender we attempted to use (provided as one of the in-room amenities) leaked its contents out through the bottom seal like a seive. When I disassembled it to check the gasket, I found black mold. The front desk was unable to help, but offered to remove it for us. 4. The televisions in the room were not "smart" in the sense that we could not "cast" to them from our phones. We do this a lot, so it's not a user error thing. Just beware you will be limited to whatever viewing options the TV/cable service provides. PRO TIP 1: Hinging off of #3 above, the rooms in the resort are potentially privately owned. Apparently ours was, and was rented out as a sort of Air-BnB. This was the reason the hotel couldn't help with the blender, as it is not an item the resort provides, but was provided by the owner. PRO TIP 2: BEWARE THE ELEVATOR DOORS! They close VERY quickly after opening, and we were struck by them several times. Open the door, stick your hand in, and once everyone has gone in or out, then remove your hand. I'll end with a funny/silly observation. In the elevators was posted a list of the hotel regulations, among which were the parking requirements. The advisement ended with a warning that vehicles parked inappropriately, and not corrected within 24 hours, would have a "boot" affixed to their vehicle. In a nutshell, if your vehicle is parked in such a way that it is causing a problem, their "fix" will be to make that situation permanent. Totally makes sense.

The location is excellent -- less than a 5-minute walk to the gondola. They also offer ski valet right in the lobby, which makes the walk even shorter. Huge plus: boot dryers. Check-in was super easy, and we upgraded our room to one of their "condos." Just to set expectations: this isn't a full condo. It's essentially a hotel room with a small living area and a Murphy bed. Still comfortable and totally fine for what we needed. The best part of this hotel is that it's dog-friendly -- and truly dog-friendly. Any size dog, big or small, and there were dogs everywhere (including ours). There's a forested area behind the hotel that's perfect for letting your pup play in the snow. One downside: some guests don't pick up after their dogs, so there was dog poop around even though the hotel provides bag dispensers. Maybe adding more (or enforcing cleanup) would help. The price is good, the hotel is clean, but it is old -- very old -- and definitely showing its age. The hallway floors are uneven, the elevator makes some questionable noises, and nothing about it feels modern. That said, after skiing all day, the four hot tubs and heated pool are amazing and very much appreciated. I stay here for convenience, not luxury. The beds are comfortable, towels are clean, and that's honestly all we need. Plus, it's close to The Yodler, our favorite restaurant. The rooms are noisy with paper-thin walls--you can hear guests walking, talking, and moving around all night long, making it nearly impossible to sleep. It honestly felt like people were walking inside my room. The room itself is poorly maintained and outdated, with dirty, stained carpets and a bathroom that was not clean. Nothing felt refreshed or well cared for, which is unacceptable at this price point. Breakfast was equally terrible. The food was cold, the omelet was tough and rubbery, and overall the quality was far below expectations--borderline inedible. Between the noise, lack of cleanliness, outdated rooms, and overpriced rates, this place is absolutely not worth the money. I would not stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable or restful stay.
