We requested a bid to move a traditional gas FP from middle of our LR room & install a gas unit in corner to gain more usable space on back side of the wall which is our Master BR. An appointment was made to measure & see what the project entailed. Bid was quite fair and we completed our portion of the build out & additional gas piping as required. I stopped by Sierra Home Alternatives because I had some questions about pellet stoves. My wife and I are new to the area and the home we purchased has a pellet stove in it. Austin hooked us up with a EPA approved 77.1% efficient Lopi Evergreen wood stove to replace the old Volgelzang log eating stove that was in the home. We've had a couple cold days since the install and are totally blown away at the efficiency of this new stove. Before we would pile on 2-3 18" logs every hour in the old stove which needed a floor fan next to it to disperse the heat. With this new Lopi Evergreen, 5-6 18" logs in the morning and we are good for 10-12 hours! Sierra Home Alternatives saved our bacon and we would rate them higher than 5 stars, if we could! We had an old Vermont Castings from 1977 that sat out 4 1/2 feet on a hearth in the middle of our kitchen and wanted to swap it out for a more efficient and cleaner burning, zero clearance fireplace. After a ton of research, we identified the model that would work for our space constraints. We were so worried about product availability with supply chain issues and cargo ships stuck sideway in the Suez Canal and 50 ships parked off the coast of Caifornia, that we decided to go with a local company to purchase and install the new fireplace instead of doing it ourselves. Long story short, the local company (I'm giving you side-eye right now, Sierra Timberline) completely dropped the ball and cancelled our install twice because they did not secure the fireplace or chimney even after their assurances and a $2,500 deposit. California was hit with a Storm-a-geddon and we had an open chimney into our home, with our primary heat source removed because the last company assured us we were locked and loaded. I called Sierra Home Alternatives in a panic and reached Casey. He was so knowledgeable, patient, efficient and effective. He knew the EXACT model I was looking for, he actually had a unit sitting in his store with all of the needed add-on's such as the external air kit and blower kit. I could have reached though the phone and kissed him, I was so happy! He said he just needed to check on availability of the chimney and he called back immediately and said it would be on the next truck, taking payment over the phone. Horrible treatment by the owner. My wife called to get our fireplace serviced and the lady told her she had an outstanding debt and there was a history on her account. 1st my wife found the receipt with our credit card number on it and proved that we tried to pay. Then as far as the history thing there was a discrepancy in the appointment time. My wife waited all day and then had to pick up the kids from school, ten minutes and they wouldn't wait. After my wife proved we had done nothing wrong and paid her in full the owner never apologized and continued talk down to her. I needed my Napoleon fireplace serviced for a leak, maintenance service and cleaning. I called Sierra Home Alternatives and they sent a kid out. First of all, they don't work with or have a connection with Napoleon dealers for parts or new units and second, if that's the case, why would you send an inexperienced kid out to work on a unit you don't support and can't fix if broken. He said it was an old unit and he had problems trying to get my pilot assembly working right. It fell apart in his hands and not only couldn't he NOT fix it but they wouldn't have the parts to replace what he broke.
