After using multiple gas fireplace services, I HIGHLY recommend using Sierra Home Alternatives.  My service was provided by Gage & Russell.  They were extremely honest, knowledgeable and professional.    They quickly diagnosed the issue and spent the time explaining what they were doing.  The price was very reasonable.  They are a local business provider that I will continue supporting.  I am an extremely happy customer.  The other company that showed up a few days prior just wanted to do a sale.  They told me that my system was old and unrepairable and that I had a small gas leak.  They did not appear to be knowledgeable or experienced.  I quickly escorted them out. read more

Great quality of service and excellent customer service! Technician Sam was great with not only fixing the issue with my gas fireplace but also helping me learn more about my unit and the best way to heat my home. Thank you Sierra Home Alternatives! read more

We requested a bid to move a traditional gas FP from middle of our LR room & install a gas unit in corner to gain more usable space on back side of the wall which is our Master BR. An appointment was made to measure & see what the project entailed. Bid was quite fair and we completed our portion of the build out & additional gas piping as required. The gas unit was installed per bid price and since they were able to utilize some of the existing vent pipe on site, we were issued a credit back. Not only is their customer service excellent but workmanship was as well. Feel pricing was more than fair & a good value for what we'd asked them to complete. We appreciate knowing our home will be extra cozy this winter. read more

I stopped by Sierra Home Alternatives because I had some questions about pellet stoves. My wife and I are new to the area and the home we purchased has a pellet stove in it. We have never owned or used a pellet stove for heating. I walked and was immediately greeted by Austin. I had a list of questions and Austin took his time answering each and every question. We had some issues with the placement of the room temperature sensor on our insert that I had already moved. Austin explained that everything thing I was doing as far as cleaning and moving the sensor was good. He took his time and was very knowledgeable about all my concerns even though he knew I would not be purchasing anything. I will definitely be using Sierra Home Alternatives for maintenance of our stove and chimney cleaning after the heating season is over read more

I called Sierra Home alternatives, because our gas fireplace in the bedroom stopped working. The gentleman who came out to work on it, I think his name was Gage, I could be wrong, was wonderful! He was very professional, considerate, and respectful. I wouldn't hesitate to, recommend you guys to anyone! Rebecca Ward read more

This business is wonderful! We used them to replace the burner of our propane fireplace at our previous house. The technician was very professional and helpful. Then we called them due to my grandma's pellet stove not working (no other heat source). They came out the next day and determined it only needed a cleaning. Recently, we called them to see how to replace the bricks in our wood fireplace. Alan was able to locate the manual of our fireplace and also order the needed bricks for replacement. We have always had the best experiences and highly recommend anyone to call this business first and only for your heating needs. read more

We visited SHA today looking for a pellet stove. Unfortunately they did not service our area. Here's where the 5 star recommendation comes in. Austin (the owner) even though he knew the sale was not there gave us nothing less than a stellar experience. He was knowledgeable, friendly incredible helpful to educate us to the pros and cons regarding our needs. He spent no less than 45-60 minutes with us guiding us asking questions and sharing his years of experience. He even checked stock on a model we were interested in knowing another shop was going to make the sale. Even though he (SHA) did not make the sale (Austin ru still sure u won't come to Twain Harte?) I understand ur service extends well past the sale. The sign of a truly customer service related quality oriented company. I applaud the business fundamental practice - service your existing customer base. To any readers and potential customers - even though we did not purchase from (SHA) I would whole heartedly recommend this business. The level of service, helpful, professionalism and knowledge were overwhelming. If they would service our area we would have with our any trepidation and in a heartbeat completed the purchase there. read more

We have a propane-powered fireplace in our living room, and it stopped working recently. My call to Sierra Home Alternatives was answered by a very friendly representative who scheduled our service call within a few days. Gage showed up on time, was polite, considerate, funny, clean, and most importantly, expertly qualified to fix our problem. He completely disassembled the fireplace internals, laying everything out on a blanket in a very organized manner. He quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced a few parts (which he had in his van, no follow-up visit required) and had the fireplace up and running perfectly in no time. He even polished the inside of the glass door, which was cloudy and stained when he arrived. We were delighted with the entire experience. We'll never call anyone else! read more

Superior service from beginning to end!! Casey was wonderful to work with.... finding the right stove (Lopi - Evergreen), scheduling the installer (Andre) and keeping us informed throughout the process. Andre did an amazing job. We changed the location of the wood burning stove from against the wall to the middle of the room and couldn't be happier with the result. Andre was very accommodating and such a nice guy. Would definitely recommend Sierra Home Alternatives for your stove needs. read more

Austin hooked us up with a EPA approved 77.1% efficient Lopi Evergreen wood stove to replace the old Volgelzang log eating stove that was in the home. We've had a couple cold days since the install and are totally blown away at the efficiency of this new stove. Before we would pile on 2-3 18" logs every hour in the old stove which needed a floor fan next to it to disperse the heat. With this new Lopi Evergreen, 5-6 18" logs in the morning and we are good for 10-12 hours! We highly recommend seeing Austin for your home heating needs! with quality and fast installation guaranteed and many top brand EPA approved stoves to choose from. Don't get fooled by the old lady at the other local wood stove retailer in town, She's more interested in selling her boutique items and crafts. read more

The staff here has been amazing every time we come in for a visit. This particular time I was in, I was looking to get our propane cook top trail fixed until GenAir could make it out. Austin took a look at what I had and said,"hold the door, I'll go up to the warehouse and see what I can find". He came back with something I thought might work and low and behold it did! Happy New Year to Austin and the staff! Keep up the amazing service!! read more

Sierra Home Alternatives saved our bacon and we would rate them higher than 5 stars, if we could! We had an old Vermont Castings from 1977 that sat out 4 1/2 feet on a hearth in the middle of our kitchen and wanted to swap it out for a more efficient and cleaner burning, zero clearance fireplace. After a ton of research, we identified the model that would work for our space constraints. We were so worried about product availability with supply chain issues and cargo ships stuck sideway in the Suez Canal and 50 ships parked off the coast of Caifornia, that we decided to go with a local company to purchase and install the new fireplace instead of doing it ourselves. Long story short, the local company (I'm giving you side-eye right now, Sierra Timberline) completely dropped the ball and cancelled our install twice because they did not secure the fireplace or chimney even after their assurances and a $2,500 deposit. California was hit with a Storm-a-geddon and we had an open chimney into our home, with our primary heat source removed because the last company assured us we were locked and loaded. I called Sierra Home Alternatives in a panic and reached Casey. He was so knowledgeable, patient, efficient and effective. He knew the EXACT model I was looking for, he actually had a unit sitting in his store with all of the needed add-on's such as the external air kit and blower kit. I could have reached though the phone and kissed him, I was so happy! He said he just needed to check on availability of the chimney and he called back immediately and said it would be on the next truck, taking payment over the phone. Over the next couple weeks, his superb customer service set them apart from any other provider. He mailed me a copy of my receipt and fielded numerous calls from my husband to ensure that we had all the proper parts. He coordinated with his staff and my husband to ensure that we were able to pick up the heavy fireplace and all the parts the next week, which went off without a hitch. He even sent ME a thank you card for our business! No, thank YOU Sierra Home Alternatives! Thanks to you, we have our new fireplace installed and heating our home with only half the wood we normally go through! Cannot thank you guys enough, keep up the good work, Casey and crew! read more

We are so happy with our new Vermont Castings wood stove that we purchased through Sierra Home Alternatives! The guys in the showroom are helpful and knowledgeable, answering all of our novice wood-burning questions. We received help from two different people (can't remember their names, sorry!); they walked us through all of our different options and explained some updates that needed to be done during the install to bring our stove up to code. The installer, Andre, is a pleasure to work with too - on time, efficient and just the nicest guy! He really cares about doing his job well. He also took the time to make sure we called the air quality folks to see if we qualified for a rebate. We didn't but we also feel like this experience was worth every penny we spent! read more

Went here to see about getting a old wood insert fan working again. We purchased with home so wasn't sure if able to fix nor how old the unit was. Were almost sure that we would have to bite the bullet and get new fan/insert. Josh in servicing was very helpful and was able to fix our fan with a minimal fee. I love that they didn't try to up-sell us and we left as return customers. The sales person was also very friendly and helpful and getting us in contact with their service area. I was surprised at the level of time and effort that went into my gas insert service. Horrible treatment by the owner. My wife called to get our fireplace serviced and the lady told her she had an outstanding debt and there was a history on her account. 1st my wife found the receipt with our credit card number on it and proved that we tried to pay. Then as far as the history thing there was a discrepancy in the appointment time. My wife waited all day and then had to pick up the kids from school, ten minutes and they wouldn't wait. After my wife proved we had done nothing wrong and paid her in full the owner never apologized and continued talk down to her. My wife is much nicer than me, I would have handled it differently. read more

I bought a new fireplace to replace the 22 year old gas/wood fireplace installed by the builder for our El Dorado Country home.. I love these new fireplaces. My wife wanted a big fireplace with all the features, accent lighting, remote, etc. I preferred the sales people at Sierra Home Alternatives over the other stores in the area when we visited their showroom, and the installation by BW Construction was done well, quickly, and most affordably. We saved thousands. The installation fees by Brian were significantly better than the other estimates. All I can say is shop around because there are a lot of fireplace manufacturers and brands, and the costs are comparable, but construction, roughing in, and installation fees are where the money is to be saved. read more

I have never posted a review of a business before, but, the folks at Sierra Home Alternatives have helped me out so much I felt it was the least I could do (not that i wanted to do the least). They delivered the stove the closest they could to the final destination (going on a slanted dirt road and using a pallet jack). Their employees always made me feel like I was the most important thing they had to do that day. They came back when something wasn't quite correct from the factory and dealt with it expediently. When I went to sell our old stove, they helped me immensely to make it correct. I'm 72 and probably the stove we bought will last me the rest of my life, but, if I ever needed another stove again, that's where I would buy it. Great people. read more

I purchased a wood burning stove from Sierra Home Alternatives and found the staff to be very knowledgeable. I'm an engineer and asked a lot of questions about how quickly the stove would heat up and stay regulated. How large a stove would be required to heat my house and if it could stay burning through the night. Since I had an old one that required constant attention adjusting the air inlets and re-lighting in the morning. I was shown graphs and a working unit on the floor that helped me decide. I have owned my new Hearthstone for over 5 years and it works great! Sierra had their installers come out and they did a great job installing and getting the stove up an running. I was having my cabin redone due to some structure issues (long story); One of the tasks to get to code was putting in a new stove; After doing hours of online searching, i was ready to pull the trigger with a online store, but then i starting to think about moving a 400lb stove and needing to find a contractor to install it, so i thought I would check to see if there was a local seller that could not only sell me a stove, but also install it; Hence Sierra Home Alternatives; After dealing with so many contractors over the summer, it was refreshing to deal with a company that knew what they were doing, how to do it, and how long it was going to take; No guessing. I thought i could just plug a stove into the same pipe i had, nope, 2020 mandates changed everything and if i had tried to install it my self, i probably would have burnt the place down. The contractor they use is top notch and did a very professional job, knew exactly what he was doing and got the job done fast and in exactly the way it was supposed to be done, not many people know that Forrest service cabins need to have their stacks painted black; So shout out also to Brian and BW Construction; The stove looks amazing and is the nicest thing in the cabin right now. read more

Sierra Home Alternatives - Our beautiful gas fireplace that Sierra Home Alternatives and Jason (construction) put in! It is beautiful and we are thrilled. - Fireplace Services Near Me - Placerville, California

I had already selected a wood burning fireplace for my home to replace the builders gas fireplace (I know most people want gas, I'm the odd person out I guess) I had already spent a few months visiting other fireplace dealers in the area to either be dismissed probably because they did not want to install what I wanted, or that they just did not have a product to fit my small space. As luck would have it I found (through a different contractor) just the perfect unit for my application - the LADERA - only to find out at the last minute that the first contractor I selected could no longer get it. I still wanted the Ladera, got online with the vendor and found Sierra Home Alternatives listed as a Ladera dealer. I made the call on a Saturday to find that Sierra Home Alternatives sold the same one and actually had a brand new unit in stock! After meeting with them they patiently addressed all of my concerns and I signed the paperwork and left my deposit. Later that week they sent out Brian Waters, their licensed contractor to quote/do the job. He installed my unit (which was an involved build as we had to remove the existing unit and reframe and add a chimney) on December 14, 15 and 16th, 2015. I have to say I am so very pleased with the outcome of this project. All was done on time, professionally, neatly and on budget. I'm so happy with my new Ladera wood burning fireplace - I still keep trying to find something I dont like and cant! This EPA Approved fireplace is just amazing - no visible smoke at all as the brochure promised and then some. LOL. Brian even handled the rather difficult permit issues with the city of Folsom. I would recommend that if you are shopping you put these folks on your list. My take is Brian and his helper, Chris are very competent general contractors, are a pleasure to work with, really want to make you happy, and who clearly know where their expertise begins and ends and are honest about it! I decided to finish the finish work with my current general contractor due to some difficult crown molding angles and custom tile work (this is to be done this weekend), but honestly I could not be happier. I needed my Napoleon fireplace serviced for a leak, maintenance service and cleaning. I called Sierra Home Alternatives and they sent a kid out. First of all, they don't work with or have a connection with Napoleon dealers for parts or new units and second, if that's the case, why would you send an inexperienced kid out to work on a unit you don't support and can't fix if broken. He said it was an old unit and he had problems trying to get my pilot assembly working right. It fell apart in his hands and not only couldn't he NOT fix it but they wouldn't have the parts to replace what he broke. I asked what do I do and he recommended Country Elegance because THEY SERVICE NAPOLEON FIREPLACES!!! Michelle from Country Elegance sent her best guy Joe out quickly. Joe said that this unit was a brick house of fireplaces. A great and dependable unit. Not what the kid from SHA said. But then he wouldn't know now, would he?
