I provided the owner with information on painting the extra facia before painting and have texts that support that. I advised the owner at the same time about an issue with the paint and dents in my patio cover along although he claims I kept adding complaints. I wasn't going to pay him until the dents were fixed when he threatened to put a lien on my house for a $550 job. It's normal not to pay until the job is done. You can actually see the dents are 10ft just like the plywood. The workers were great. read more

Shawn and his team are pretty spectacular. Was looking to get, at minimum, the exterior trim (fascias, gutters, wood trim on front door, garage, and side door) on my 2-story house painted because it was starting to peel and I was worried the wood fascias would get damaged and need replacing. Got a quote within a day, even during the rainy season, and when there was a break in the story weather, Shawn had his team water blast on a Monday and finish the whole job on Tuesday (7:30am - 2pm). Caulked and nailed where needed, and even treated a piece of door frame wood with some anti-dry rot seal before painting. Team was very professional and courteous. Will definitely re-hire Foothills Painting when I need to paint the rest of the exterior stucco next year. read more

It's been a couple of years now since Shawn and his team painted my house, but I was appreciating it the other day, and realized I had never written a review back when they did it. They were unbelievably fast but also did a really high quality job. No skimping just to get it done, and they understand that prep is critical to ensure a durable paint job. I've been up on ladders running Christmas lights and doing home repair since the paint job, and they didn't miss anything - no missed spots like on top of trim that's out of sight, or in tight corners where roof lines come together. They did it all, and they did it well. It will probably be several years before I need to paint again, but when I do, they'll be the first call. Shawn is great to work with. He offers a very fair price and does not take advantage like many other businesses. He actually charged $900 less than the original bid. Shawn had some suggestions on the color and his ideas were excellent. We love the results! Our home had a lot of extra work beyond just painting. We have a number of wooden beams that have had some dry rot that had to be repaired. Foothills painting included this as part of the job. We thought that we would have to bring in someone else to do the repair work, but they had no problem doing it. They managed to paint the exterior of our house in less than a week. I just wish I found this company sooner. We had some other work done sealing some exterior wood which was not done correctly from a different business. If Foothills Painting had done the work, it would have been done correctly. Shawn really knows what he is doing. read more

I had several interior and exterior jobs I needed done. Outside I had new siding and support structures for 3 exterior decks on my 2-story house that needed painting; inside I needed dning room walls prepped for wallpapering (which someone else will do), and two bathroom walls painted to cover over tears in old wallpapering that I didn't want to replace on the good walls adjacent to them. Long strips of cracked paint needed to be fixed in two corners of an upstairs wall that had shifted ever so slightly causing these shear tears, although a structural engineer had confirmed that there was no structural shortcoming in need of attention. This last could have resulted in needing to paint the entire large room, which Shawn had budgeted for in his initial quote. After the bad areas had been sanded, filled, smoothed, and painted, I decided the blend was so good that there was no need to paint the rest of the area as originally expected. Shawn knocked down the final price by a healthy amount to adjust for this. He and one of his guys also pitched in to fix, on the fly, some mysterious damage to one of my garage door rails that I just discovered, which was in no way caused by them nor were they in any way responsible for doing anything about it. They just saw the problem, figured they could probably fix or at least improve it, and jumped in. It took an hour or so but they got it back to where the door opens and closes smoothly. This was purely a classy bonus volunteer effort and I want to see they get the applause for it they deserve. The only little glitch worth mentioning was that the first effort made by some of the crew to paint a couple of surfaces that they had done nothing at all to prep was unsatisfactory. When I pointed these out to Shawn he immediately had them do it over, this time with adequate prepping, and the results really exceeded my expectations. Often when a customer requests a do-over, the second effort isn't much of an improvement, but that was not the case here: the guys really made it right. For me, it's how it turns out in the end that matters, not mistakes made along the way that are easy to fix at no additional cost. Shawn and his guys are polite, professional, serious craftsmen and I found Shawn to be fair-minded, straight-shooting, and generous at every turn, as well as a very nice guy. Top marks. read more

I called Shawn about stripping and staining our decks in Tahoe. He came the same day, gave me a very reasonable quote and did the job in a matter of days. He kept me informed of everything that was going on and provided pictures since I wasn't in town. He also framed and painted our new skylights matching the 15 year old paint exactly. Best painting experience we've ever had. Shawn was honest, hardworking, industrious, and dealt with all of the issues of stripping, sanding, and refinishing a cabin exterior that may not have been done in 50-60 years. It took a lot of effort and elbow grease (and a week's time, with a crew) to accomplish the task. Amazingly, when we got through the 60 years of stained piled on, it turned out the cabin was made of redwood, not cedar, like everyone thought. The crew was EXCEPTIONALLY clean, our cabin looks amazing, and it was as spotless inside as outside when they finished.
