Wow, what a great place. We were traveling through Macon and looked up restaurants and this had the highest reviews for lunch. Well deserved, too. Friendly service, fresh food, cute and quaint environment, and reasonable. It was great and we really enjoyed it. Would highly recommend it as a stop off for lunch from I 75. They only serve lunch, but they specialize in it well. And only three minutes off the 16/75 area. read more

I've driven past this place for over 10 years. Always thought it had been shut down, turns out it's open from 1030-3pm ish. It's my first time, and this place is a Macon icon, but I can't figure out why, except perhaps nostalgia, speed of service, and good environs. It's quiet and cool. You feel like ur at somebody's grandmother's house. The staff are very friendly, great service, and quick. I was perplexed by prices like 4.32 for a semi-sub, which is a small cold cut type sub. Imagine a narrow 6 inch, or a Jimmy johns type sandwich. I saw that a Reuben was a primary offering, and there weren't many choices amongst their signature sandwiches...4? I ordered the Reuben, and figured I could use it as a barometer. So, the Reuben had lots of corned beef, some sauerkraut and lots of thousand island, that seemed watery thin. The bread was just like what you would get at a grocery store, and in no way heated/toasted/fried. You cannot serve a Reuben on cold, soft bread. You cannot serve a cold Reuben, I'm just saying... They were very helpful and nice, nice interior, clean, quick and good prices. But for the food, nothing to write home about as they say. read more

I would have given this place a higher rating but there was a TOOTHPICK in my sandwich. Not stuck in the sandwich parallel to hold it together--no, the toothpick was laid inside the sandwich like some sort of sadistic wooden pokey-pickle. Lucky for me, I was eating slowly and felt the toothpick before I bit down too hard to do any damage. But it could have been way worse. Besides the idiocy of the toothpick, the prices here are great. A satisfying lunch for two people was less than $10 total, which is practically unheard of in these times of high inflation. The service was quick and the restaurant itself had a cute, homey vibe. Looking for a cheap, quick and quaint lunch place? Sid's has been serving soups, salads and sandwiches to the Macon community for years! The booth seating has a fun vintage feel (the seats flip down like at the movie theatre!) and there is memorabilia from Macon and Mercer all over the walls. I personally love the Reuben, but you can get egg salad, turkey breast, pimento cheese, or pretty much any sandwich you could ask for! I would suggest always asking for your bread toasted since they don't automatically do it (why have bread when you can have TOAST?!). Yummy in the tummy. Sid's is not fine dining, but it is a great sandwich shop. If you are looking for a quick lunch with lot's of homemade treats it will really hit the spot. Because it's soups and sandwiches everyone can always find something they like. The other thing that makes it so great is that the staff are very sweet. They usually chat with you while you watch them make your lunch. It doesn't get much better if you need to grab a bite in the middle of the day. read more

There is little to complain about when it comes to eating at Sid's, the staff is patient and ready to help however they can ( the flow of customers is fast so try and know what you want) regarding your order. All of the spreads are homemade (chicken salad is my favorite), but the Rueben has to be my favorite. The salads are pretty simple along with the soups, but I would probably say the vegetable soup seems to be the crowd favorite. The prices are easily the lowest in town and I can't find anyone who will complain about that. I love this place, have been coming here for years and will definitely continue! read more
