Rye toast, Special - Eggs & No Meat, grits

Good breakfast..cheese in 2 egg since they do not make omelets, despite veggie omelet written on the cafe window. Grits were hot and tasty. I appreciated cook realizing he sent out eggs with wrong cheese in it and sent out correct order, but I hated to waste good. Pretty quiet morning when I was there. Good service.

I love the old school vibe all this place. The servers are friendly. The food is very good. If you like more intimate places to eat this is a great place to have breakfast.

Cheeseburger and fries.

Great lunch last week. We walked in and were able to seat ourselves. There was not much of a crowd. The service was good. They do have some cool decor which I will have to get pictures of next time. I had the bacon and swiss burger, fries, and q cup of chili. The chili was absolutely fantastic. It was hot and had just enough spiciness that it wasn't overbearing. The burger was delicious. It came with bacon and swiss cheese, go figure given the name. It also had lettuce tomato, onion, and pickle on it. The burger came out hot. The patty was a nice size. The lettuce and tomato tasted very fresh. In all it was a very good burger. The fries were fresh cut. I would have liked them a little crispier but they were very good. In all it was a great lunch and I would highly recommend.

The soup is advertised on the window!

I walked in to be greeted by a woman on her phone. I asked about the soup that is advertised on the window. She simply said no soup without even looking up from her phone. I asked if that meant no soup today or no soup at all. She replied again no soup! Very rude! Not very inviting!

Another great lunch at Sidewalk. Service was fast, friendly, and on target with orders. The grilled chicken gyro is a perfect light lunch with very good flavor. Everything tasted fresh. The bacon cheeseburger with two patties was a huge portion. Again, great flavor and prepared well. Everyone knows the fries are the best.

Very cute diner feel!

I had never been here (or most places in Painesville) but a recent meeting found me in the area. I totally overestimated how long it would take me to get there (morning traffic usually sucks) and wound up an hour early. Thanks to Yelp I found this cafe near by. It's totally an older looking diner - several booths and a breakfast bar with stools. When I came in, I was greeted right away and the breakfast Rush was over (there were 2 dudes sitting at the bar, and people in 3 or 4 booths). I read the previous reviews and it seemed the biggest complaint was the service. I'm happy to report that I had great service. My waitress was training a new girl, and they both were nice. My waitress seemed to know pretty much everyone who walked in, greeting them by name. Regulars make me more comfortable with a place. I wasn't starving so just went for eggs and toast. My coffee cup and water were never empty, and the coffee was good enough (I never expect the best cup of my life or even great from a restaurant) - it had caffeine and hit the spot so I was happy. My table seemed clean and I appreciated that the waitress checked in on me without hovering or being annoying. Was it a fantastic breakfast? Nope but it was good and I ended up taking some toast home. Plus it was very reasonably priced. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but if I was nearby I would certainly go back. Their lunch menu looked promising.

We have recommended your restaurant to many people, especially praising your salad bar for its freshness, quality, and variety. We've also ordered the AYCE fish fry many times -- including nearly every Friday during Lent last year -- and it has always been crispy, well‑drained, and never greasy. This visit, however, fell far below the standards we have come to expect. From the moment we were seated, the experience was noticeably different. The hostess did not ask for drink orders, which has always been standard. Our server -- slightly heavy‑set with a long black ponytail -- appeared disengaged and gave the clear impression that she did not want to be there. We confirmed with her that the AYCE fish was $12.99 and included all‑you‑can‑eat soup and salad, exactly as we were told earlier in the day when we called. Her response was, "She always tells people that, but it's one trip." Despite the inconsistency, we proceeded and requested the fish extra crispy and well‑drained. We waited at least 30 minutes for the first round of fish, even though only two other tables were occupied and they already had their food. When the fish finally arrived, it was extremely greasy, not crispy, and the bottoms were completely soggy. When we pointed this out, the server simply said, "I told him," offering no apology, no concern, and no attempt to resolve the issue. She took the fish back to have it remade. She returned shortly after and removed our sides without explanation. The second order of fish was still dripping with grease. Grease was visibly pooled in the breading, as if it had come straight from the fryer without being drained at all. We asked another employee if she was the manager. She said no but asked what was wrong. As we began explaining, the manager, Heather, approached. At that same moment, the server stood behind me and said, "Oh, they're not happy with that either." Heather also showed no empathy, no apology, and no effort to correct the situation. Her demeanor was irritated and dismissive from the start. We told Heather to remove the fish from the bill. She agreed but insisted we still had to pay for the soup and salad. She then brought a bill for nearly $30, charging us for AYCE soup and salad even though we each had only one cup of soup and one small salad. When we questioned this, Heather became visibly annoyed and said she would instead charge us for a side salad and a cup of soup. We explained that the fish has never been like this before. Heather's response was, "Then go out to Madison, they have the same fish there." This was unprofessional and completely unnecessary. When we went to pay, we informed Heather that we were veterans. She applied the discount to only one meal. When I told her I was also a veteran, she said, "Oh, you're a veteran too? Well, I need to see ID." This was disrespectful and unnecessary, especially after she acknowledged she recognized us from previous visits. My husband was wearing a veteran jacket, yet she still demanded to see his ID as well. Heather then brought up the fish again, stating it "looked perfectly fine" to her. When I explained the amount of grease on the napkin and on my hands, she dismissed it, saying, "It's deep fried, there's going to be grease," and repeated that it looked fine. As I calmly explained that it had never been served this way before, she told me I was "getting out of control." At no point did I raise my voice -- I was simply explaining the issue. After that comment, I stepped outside while my husband finished paying. He later told me that Heather was speaking about me in front of him to another employee, again calling me "out of control," and told the server she wasn't getting a tip. It is clear that something has changed. The friendly, attentive, welcoming atmosphere that once set your restaurant apart is gone. The staff now appear disengaged, unprofessional, and uninterested in providing quality service. We no longer see any of the kind servers who made dining here enjoyable. We are extremely disappointed by how this visit was handled from start to finish. We hope management takes this feedback seriously. We have supported your restaurant since your grand opening, and we would like to feel confident returning -- but based on this experience, that is not possible unless significant improvements are made.

It was our first visit to the winery, and ended up being the best meal of our entire trip. I rave about it to everyone. The inn and restaurant are absolutely gorgeous--thoughtfully designed, warm, and elegant--and the entire property truly stands out in the Grand River Valley. The setting is stunning: a unique lakefront location with peaceful views that feel more like a boutique estate than a typical winery. Even in winter, the atmosphere was serene and inviting. What really impressed us, though, was the pride the staff takes in the place. We were given a full tour of the property, and it was clear how dedicated and invested they are in ensuring Vincent William Winery succeeds. That level of care shows in every detail. As for the food--wow. Every dish we ordered was outstanding, from the warm, crusty bread with baked brie and preserves to the vibrant house meatballs and beautifully prepared entrées. The pasta was rich and comforting, and the pork chop was perfectly cooked with hearty, flavorful sides. Presentation was as thoughtful as the flavors. The cocktails were equally impressive. The Old Fashioned was balanced, smooth, and among the best I've had at a winery. Their wines were excellent as well, and I cannot wait until they launch a wine club--I'd be ready to sign up. The chef's classes also sound fantastic and would be a no-brainer for us if we lived locally. Truly, we have zero criticisms. Prices felt quite fair for the quality and experience. The property is exceptional, and the staff offers the kind of genuine hospitality that's increasingly rare. Vincent William Winery is a unique lakefront gem, and every time we're in Greater Cleveland, we'll make it a point to return.

There is a park right next door too for additional parking. The grounds are still being worked on as it is still springtime and I definitely need to come back during the summer season and when the weather isn't so dreary in northeast Ohio. We asked to sit at a table by the window but were told we couldn't sit there, mind you it was not busy at all and no one sat at that table the entire time we were there so I wasn't very happy with the staff. We ended up eating at the bar since we could still somewhat see the water that way. The food and drinks were absolutely phenomenal so that and the ambiance is the only reason I would consider coming back as the staff really ruined the experience for me. The area was really quiet and didn't have many people out and about, but it was also the last weekend of October and this area seems like it would be bustling during summertime since it's on the lake. We each ordered a different wrap (my husband got the chicken/bacon/ranch and I got the salmon blt) and we were incredibly surprised by the quality of food. They were great portion sizes, cooked to order/incredibly fresh, and had large chunks of protein vs deli cut style meats we had kinda thought they might be. The fries were SO crispy and seasoned nicely. The staff working that day were super friendly and came to check on us often to make sure we had plenty of water and napkins. The tables are already well-stocked with condiments, so we never needed to ask for anything, which was great. I also ordered a witches brew wine slushy and it was such a treat. They had 3 Halloween inspired flavors to choose from, but the neon green was calling my name. The inside is pet friendly and has a bulk-bin dog treat station to get your pups some treats, as well as a dog menu for them to have a snack while you eat. They sell dog toys, collars, leashes, and other merch inside, too. Outside is a big patio/dog park area for the dogs to play.
