Tbh i just like that their seats are comfortable. But the drinks and the menu not my favorite and too pricy but that atmosphere is enjoyable

The lomo saltado here is just like the lomo saltado I got in Peru! The service is great, and the ambiance is nice. I'm someone who always looks for yelp reviews when trying to find a restaurant, so if you're like me, trust me on this. You should go!! I've been here twice and both times the food was exceptional. Great for date night! read more

I visited Sidebar Columbus for the first time today - I can't believe I've never been here before. My girlfriend and I arrived around 6:30pm to take advantage of their Happy Hour (which goes from 5p - 7p), and we had a fantastic experience. The Happy Hour is only valid in the "bar area," but this includes their small patio, which was perfect for the nice weather. We started by ordering cocktails; we got the "Four Step" and the "French 75." The drinks were tasty and refreshing. We decided to order five tapas before Happy Hour ended and we figured we would order full-priced tapas afterward if we were still hungry. However, the five tapas were enough for the two of us and we were both comfortably full. The five tapas we ordered were: Cilantro Hummus, Chicken Skewers, Beef Empanadas, Tuna Tartare, and the New Zealand Mussels. All of the plates were delicious, but the Chicken Skewers (with an amazing chimichurri sauce) and the Mussels stood out as the best. Overall, we will definitely be coming back to try more of the tapas - the menu was expansive and there are many more for us to try! read more

Overall a great dining experience. Their spicy potatoes are delicious. Empanadas were tasty as well. I'm not a huge plantain guy, but my wife really enjoined them. My lobster ravioli was okay - not as good as their other dishes, though. Also, very cool atmosphere. We ordered a few drinks and they were quite good as well. Highly recommend checking this place out. read more

I'm so impressed by Sidebar's food and service. Everyone, from the hostesses to the servers, are so pleasant. And the food was so phenomenal I came here for both my anniversary and my birthday within the span of two months (mostly because the tapas were so tasty and filling the first time around we were too full for entrées)! Speaking of entrées, we ordered the lamb shank and the duck and they were both incredible. The best part of the lamb dish was the risotto. It was insanely good. Also, love their wine and cocktail list. The only bad part is happy hour is only in the bar area, but everything is just so worth it. I'm glad we found our go-to for special dinners and after-work tapas alike. Love it! read more

Sidebar has some exceptionally tasty dishes, some of my favorites are the caprese and the ceviche. My husband, then boyfriend, used to live near this bar and we frequented it quite often. It is welcoming and cozy for any occasion, a birthday, bad day at work, or a quick drink alone between appointments. The cocktails are fabulous. The one gripe I have about this place is the service is slow. It reminds me of when you go down south, I'm thinking Myrtle Beach and the Carolinas, and you know the food will be amazing...when it gets there. The key being "when". We recently went on a Monday night, not crowded, very few people dining, and we still struggled to get service in a reasonable amount of time, I'm thinking less than an hour. We were there for about 2 hours. And the conversation was flowing, so we were happily waiting. But, that is the only area that could use improvement here. We will return. read more

Tapas Tuesday has become a new found tradition for my fiancé and I. Sidebar has amazing bartenders that love their craft and have made special, off-menu concoctions for us, based on what we are feeling. The food is amazing. I feel like I have been to enough restaurants in Cbus to honestly state that this is one of the best. I think it also helps that my fiancé and I were in Peru this past January and the Peruvian style food and drinks bring back fond memories of our travels. Sidebar is so good that we have decided to rent out the second floor for our wedding rehearsal dinner and we will be requesting Katie as our bartender. She is super friendly, attentive, and knows her way around a bar, indeed! Tapas Tuesday happens every Tuesday. Dinner is FREE with the purchase of a drink, even though you won't be able to have just one. The chef churns out a delish and off-menu six course meal of tapas and dessert. It's the best! Get their early, because this great night of tapas only happens in the bar area with only about 25 seats. read more

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone traveling thru Columbus food was good but cold. Service was friendly, yet inattentive Appetizers never arrived, one plate was brought out before other. Drinks were available in glasses with no straw's Another patron walked in sat down and received the appetizers I ordered. If that's not enough good try for yourself read more

Enjoyed an evening out with friends during the December holidays and wow, this place is definitely at the top of the list to visit again in 2023! Semi-Casual, super cool & comfy atmosphere! Awesome happy hour with a variety of delightfully delicious appetizers! Wine soaked pear dessert was a tasty surprise, too! Definitely making plans for return visits! read more

Delicious! First time here; recommended by a friend. Ordered the wedge salad and the red snapper ceviche. Exceeded my expectations in regard to taste and how freshly prepared the food was. Both were prepared well. Other than wishing there was a little more bacon on my wedge salad, I was very happy with what I ordered. I highly recommend both of those menu items. Looking forward to coming back here next time I'm in town! read more

Favorite Columbus spot. Should be busier than it is, especially due to pretty reasonable pricing, considering Biden-bucks

Went there for the first time for a birthday dinner yesterday. Our server Felipe was AMAZING. We had a huge party and he was able to split the checks, keep up with drinks and continuous ordering and had such great energy. The food came out more than timely and every single thing was delicious... and we all tried pretty much everything. The only suggestion would be to get clear water cups because the vibe is so dark already I'd like to see what's in my glass so a navy blue cup was a little odd. I'd go back, I'd recommend and then check out the nightclub downstairs after food! read more

Lucky for me, the snowfall stopped slightly while I was visiting for work, and I was able to stop by. I arrived not soon after happy hour started, and the place was still rather empty. The happy hour tapas menu looked very promising, but I also wanted to try something from the main menu since I was visiting, and on an expense account. :) The chicken croquettes were creamy and delicious, but I was slightly disappointed with the tomato and goat cheese dip (served with pita bread). It tasted like more of a creamy tomato soup, than a gooey cheese dip. Perhaps I misunderstood the description, but the name had "dip" in it, so I assumed that's what it was. I tried the lamb shank--it's not for the faint of heart! It is HUGE! Two people can easily split it, especially since I already had 2 other appetizer prior. I sat at the bar, though it seemed like there was a whole other dining room unseen from where I was seated. Service was quick, atmosphere was jovial, and overall, it's a place I might frequent if I lived in town. read more

Service was great. My speciality drink was also good. Most of the food was good - cilantro hummus and beef and cilantro pizza was something to write home about. Yum! The tilapia fritters were okay (esp as I don't tend to like tilapia). The beef empanadas were dry. Don't get me wrong, overall, this place gets a Their menus were torn and needs a refresh. I kind of thought the same of their interior. It may sound silly, but I think that lack of care made me give them a 4 rather than a 5. read more

Since learning that Sidebar was under new management, and a changed-up menu, I've been wanting to give this place another try. It has great reviews from respectable Yelpers, so a second chance truly felt in order.h This second time around I again met Anna H. for happy hour. ***This visit was a pleasure. However, we were not here on a free-tapas Wednesday evening, so perhaps this experience is somewhat skewed. Nonetheless, still an enjoyable evening with good food and conversation!*** The food was much better this time around. Fast and hot. It was brought out pretty fast, and definitely full of flavor! Granted, we were one of very few patrons in the place. The happy hour menu is quite loaded here - much more extensive that many other eateries around Columbus.I ordered their Beef Empanadas and Plantain tapas. They were both amazing!! The fried sweet plantains were wonderful solo. the large chunks of queso fresco cheese, paired with the subtle guava, where unbelievably good!! I'm pretty sure I want this dish on my last day on earth. The Beef Empanadas (4) where seasoned perfectly - addictive! The Rocoto cheese dip had some kick, and only enhanced each other. I had every bit left over packaged for later consumption. Unfortunately they did not include the Rocoto sauce in the to-go package, so I ate the two left-over empanadas with just some Tostitos salsa - big bummer, as that sauce was very, very good! Well done Sidebar, you've definitely redeemed yourself. I'm eager to try their free-tapas night, again! read more

My fiance and I went to Sidebar for a quick date night dinner. We sat at a high table near the bar and it was relatively quiet for a Thursday evening so the service was quick and the food came out fast. I can't tell you a single thing that we ate that was not good. We had the beef empanadas, cheese empanadas (can you tell we love empanadas?), spinach filled eggplant, chicken croquettes, and manchego cheese. All were fantastic and it was more than enough food for the both of us! Can't wait to visit again! read more

Technically a 3.75 We went for happy hour and ordered 5 things to split between 4 people, which was enough to be full. It was roughly $11 per person. The tuna dishes were definitely my favorite. The flavor of both was very good and the tuna tasted pretty fresh. The ceviche was a mistake and we all thought it was just way to sour and the fish taste a little strong (this is probably the definition of how ceviche is supposed to be, but obviously none of us had tried it before and really had no idea what exactly we were ordering to be completely honest). The pizza was just okay and nothing special in my opinion, though others said it was the best thing we ordered. The crab dip was a good complement to the ceviche but I didn't think it was particularly special. The chips it came with were also a bit too weak to pull up the cheesy, heavy dip. Overall a pretty good meal. It took us a while to flag down our waiter every time, and one of the lights inside flickered the entire time, but a solid 3.75 when u take into account happy hour prices. read more

THE BEST AND MOST AUTHENTIC SPANISH TAPAS IN COLUMBUS ...!!! You'll think you're in Seville or Madrid - I promise. Apparently I haven't been to Sidebar in quite some time, because they've made it much more "Spanish", more authentic, and more WONDERFUL. (note the subtle name and ownership change from Sidebar 122 to Sidebar Columbus Wife and I had lunch. The dining room is beautiful. The bar is gorgeous, and they specialize in good liquor drinks here. The service was friendly, very professional and attentive. I ate an El Cubano sandwich, which was phenomenal. She had the Roasted Beet Salad with goat cheese, spinach, caramelized walnuts and an orange cherry vinaigrette - simply awesome. The fried plantains with cheese and mango were a fantastic flavor combination. The chicken and garbanzo bean soup was wonderfully delicious. I WAS BLOWN AWAY BY HOW GOOD THEIR FOOD IS. BLOWN AWAY. Oh... and there were many other wonderful things on the menu... I could throw a dart at the menu to order - I'd eat every item on their menu. In fact, I think I will - I'm going to make it a point of eating my way across their entire menu - it'll just take a few visits. Which is fine, because Sidebar Columbus is my new favorite tapas restaurant, and favorite Spanish restaurant, in Columbus. By far... Go. Eat. Drink. Enjoy. You'll thank me... read more

I visited this restaurant yesterday with my preggo younger sister. I was blown away by the outstanding customer service we received. Lock on the women's restroom was broken and they didn't care at all. Drinks were sacharine

We ordered drinks, waters and a girly specialty and a beer and then reviewed the menu. Many items sounded good but we opted for the Parmesan scallops, the chicken croquette and the tomato and goat cheese. The last was hands down the best. Creamy small scoops of cheese surrounded by a tomato sauce that was so fresh you definitely had tomato. We divided on which came in second. We were surprised the scallops had so much cheese. The scallops themselves were great, but we opted to remove some of the cheese. Never having croquettes before, we were caught off guard by a somewhat sweet flavor. Loved the dipping sauce though The evening was somewhat spoiled by the waiter's ' attitude. I wound up locating and pouring water myself. This isn't a family style restaurant is it?! This was after he told me I didn't want a second drink. Apparently one beer per hour was my limit. Who knew?! We were in town for a show and so I'll warn any out of towner to maybe re-think this place. The manager? (I'm guessing) was circulating but either didn't care or was just oblivious The hostess was extremely nice though read more

First of all, let me say that the food was wonderful. The service, however, was horrible. We had reservations for five people. We were put at a very small table with an extra chair. My chair almost touched the man behind me. We sat down and water was delivered immediately. We waited and waited and waited. Another group came in and received immediate attention from a server. My son, whose birthday they were celebrating, went to the hostess station to ask for a server. The hostess was very apologetic, and, finally, a server came to take our order. The food took a very, very long time to start coming out. It came out quite sporadically with no apparent rhyme or reason. One of the things my son ordered came with mashed potatoes. My granddaughter had also ordered something with mashed potatoes, and her mashed potatoes never showed up even through we had asked twice about them. Our server never showed up in all this. A young woman who apparently had trouble with English came and topped off my son's Diet Coke with water! He tried to explain. When the server finally showed up as we were finishing with the small table terribly crowded with dishes and no one taking them away, she asked if we still wanted the mashed potatoes. Of course, not. My granddaughter had some of my son's mashed potatoes and some of her mother's rice with her rack of lamb. We had to ask for a dessert menu. We were there about two hours and much of that time was just waiting for this or that to complete our meals. Of course, with wine and food and dessert, we spent quite a bit of money. I know every place has a bad night or two but there were too many mistakes this night. Had the food not been good, we would have been furious. read more

Dined recently for Tapas Tuesday. Although I cant speak for the normal menu my experience on Tuesday was superb. My friend and I sat at the bar and ended up ordering 3 bottles of wine. The staff was extremely friendly and recommended great bottles for us. The tapas were timely, filling and delicious. I couldn't believe how good all the food was. Always the perfect spot - especially with a group - if you're looking for a fun night out near downtown. The food is always delicious and the offerings seem endless. Our server Robert was courteous, friendly, prompt and efficient. We have been to Sidebar many times. Our recent experience was very disappointing. The quality of food remains, but the taste falls very flat. The carpet is filthy, most of the light bulbs are burned out, and the boom boom boom of the music in the bar downstairs is very annoying. We ordered about 5 tapas and then asked him to pick the last one for us. Whatever he liked. We like to try different things and thought it would be good to have him pick. It was a home run!!! This place is a new Columbus gem. I went there last night. It has been open for a only a week. Has a bar area and separate restaurant area. It is in the spot former known as "The Brownstone". There are multiple levels (Other levels not yet open), but the staff informed us that one floor will have live music. Old speak-easy style gathering place (though, with modern design: in-bar lighting, dark, rich woods and colors and soft lighting) was said to be an influence on the decor. There is a VERY succesful Dayton, OH restaurant by the same owner (http://sidebar410.com/). Great cocktails, hand made cocktail infusions, happy hour specials, and a full menu (BEST hummus I've ever had!) There is valet parking. They are still staffing and training and we were told that they would begin advertising soon. Not open for lunch yet but we were told that, eventually, they would be serving the lunch crowd. They do take (and prefer reservations) for dining. Update: OK...The Columbus location is SideBar 122 ( I put that in the original post - dont know why it was edited). The Dayton location was referenced, and the link provided, to give the Columbus readers an idea of the type of vibe, attention to ambience, and energy the owner put into an enticing local menu. My wife and I along with another couple went a little crazy with the amount of food we ordered here over the weekend. We expected small plate tapas, but the servings are larger than I expected and definitely shareable. The highlights of the meal for me were the scallops parmezan, ceviche, calamari, and cilantro hummus. The scallops were large, cooked perfectly, and sitting in a creamy cheesy sauce. The ceviche was bright and refreshing. The calamari was very delicate and came with a fantastic dipping aioli. I was a little disappointed that it was absent of any tentacles. The hummus was different from anything I've had before and the cilantro provided more than just coloring. The chicken skewers were well received; primarily due to the chimichurri sauce that covered the chicken. The "loaf" of bread we ordered was actually several rolls; very tasty but something that should be complementary instead of $4. I didn't get to try the croquettes, but the others spoke highly about them. The manchengo cheese was milder than I hoped, but the olives that accompanied it were high quality. The plantains were cooked a little unevenly as some were very firm and dense while others were soft and caramelized. I didn't try the beef empanadas that we ordered, but they were one of the only items that didn't get finished. The Spanish sausage probably ranked lowest on my list. The firm cured sausage was sliced thin and in a stew with onions and peppers. I'd like it if it were served dry with a good cheese. I'm strictly a beer drinker and they don't have an extensive list, but there are a couple beers that kept me from being disappointed. I went with the CBC pale ale. A liter of sangria was shared. I tried a sip of it, and there was a cinnamon aftertaste which was different from my limited sangria experiences. The craft cocktails were pricey at $10-11 each. The pricing was fair for the serving sizes and quality of the food. It really gave us a chance to try many things. The service was fantastic and the restaurant wasn't very busy. The atmosphere was upscale, but relaxed at the same time. I felt slightly overdressed in my button up shirt. You could come in wearing shorts and still feel comfortable. read more

Had my first Sidebar experience this past Friday, and I have to say that it was pretty much perfect. All of the staff members that we interacted with were super nice and quite knowledgeable about the menu. The general atmosphere was easygoing and not at all overwhelming. While their menu does seem to be filled with numerous fantastic entrees, my husband and I decided to stick with the extensive tapas menu for this first adventure. The waiter advised that 2-3 plates is generally enough food for any one person, so we got four plates to split between the two of us. We tried the pork skewers, beef empanadas, chicken croquettes, and the fried potatoes. The pork skewers and beef empanadas were probably our favorites, but everything was pretty tasty. And we were both eyeing things on the menu that we'd like to try next time... The drinks here are basically fantastic. Sure they may be a bit on the pricey side compared to some other places, but the quality really is quite high. And then there's the dessert. We tried the one that I believe is called Chocolate Madness, and they weren't kidding with that title. The chocolate level and richness is pretty serious, but you'll get no complaints from me on that :) read more

Haven't been here for regular dining yet but I'll definitely vouch for their Tuesday happy hour deal - free tapas with the purchase of any drink from 5-7! The cocktails were fantastic and you get about 6-7 tapas total (they bring one out about every 15 minutes). I think they have different tapas every week, but these are the ones I had when I was there: - Quinoa salad with tomatoes and peppers - Seared tuna with spring veggies (delicious!!) - Mussels with spicy tomato-cilantro sauce (I was tempted to lick the sauce off the plate, it was so good) - Some kind of seafood casserole/gratin (my 2nd favorite) - Arroz con pollo (pretty average) - A flan-like dessert (very light and airy) Loved being able to try a bunch of different dishes just from buying a drink (if you're gonna get a drink anyway, might as well get some yummy free food). I will definitely be back! read more
