Side Chick

Yelp led me to Side Chick and I'm SO glad they did! I ordered the Side Chick sandwich with a side of their regular fries. EVERYTHING was fresh and delicious. The fries are hand cut, fried perfectly, and seasoned to perfection. The chicken on the sandwich had a light, but crispy and perfectly seasoned batter...was thick cut....and moist. The soft bun and pickles were the perfect accompaniment. The "Bad B" sauce is delicious and compliments both the chicken and fries well. The added plus was the location: plenty of parking and next door to a great market, so you can pick up some groceries while you wait. I will DEFINITELY be back. 10/10! read more

Need your chicken sandwich fix at a reasonable price that will fill you no matter what unlike those fast food chicken chains? Side chick is the one! Side chick is the ONLY chicken sandwich place that offers affordable prices with good portions. Chick fil-a, raising canes, Popeyes, etc. are just too overpriced now (thanks to inflation) and are sometimes portioned control where you can only feed a small child, sometimes (150lb here and $15 for a medium meal isn't cutting it anymore lol) Besides the price, the flavors are just way too good. I'm sorry, I would explain it, but I'd rather you try it out for yourself, thank me later! :) I highly recommend Side chicks! Recommend: 10/10 read more

Oohhhhh my fn* goodness, finally after all these years of traveling from LA to San Diego to visit family I found one of if not the most spectacular independent chicken sandwich shop, these sandwiches are as unique as a pink pocodots on a chicken, very tasty, very filling, unique combinations, it's hidden though (far end of a shoping center, part of a market), definitely worth the hunt, the cashier lady was very helpful and acomidating, not your typical restaurant style, no sit down inside but have patio sitting, you'll make it a point to come back I promise you read more

Really nice and accommodating staff and good location in southeast next to the supermarket. The food didn't live up to the reviews unfortunately. The chicken was lacking moistness and had a very thin, inconsistent coating that was crunchy only in some spots. I got the hot tenders and appreciated that the spicy oil wasn't overly generous like some spots, though the chile could have been fresher tasting. The sauces were house made and I liked the thick piquant house sauce. I also tried the ranch and it lacked the zippy strength needed to hold up to the mixture of flavors and textures of the chicken. They make their own picked jalapeños and those were great! And they also use a good quality, crunchy, fresh pickle. The coleslaw was basic, solid, though heavy on the mayo. The fries seemed fresh cut, russets with skins, which I love. I ordered them crispy but sadly, they served them limp and unenjoyable. There's a fun offering of various drinks and desserts from next door though I didn't try anything. read more

I'm always on the hunt for a good chicken sandwich and this one hit the spot. Side Chick is located in a shopping center in south Oak Park and was excited to finally check it out after seeing lots of promo on yelp. The owner was super friendly (can't recall his name) and even let me try out EACH of the signature sauces (big sauce guy here lol) plus shared future plans for sandwich Inspiration. I've been to this location and had food delivered. It's been very good, and the quality is very consistent. I appreciate the fact that you can get the sandwiches lettuce wrapped. Fried chicken is hardly "health conscious" but I've enjoyed lettuce wrapped sandwiches ever since I was a kid and was introduced to the protein style at In&Out. They have the absolute best french fries. I often order a larger amount of fries than I intend to eat just so I can reheat them later. Not great for the belt line, but the awesome for the taste buds. Service is occasionally slow, due to high popularity and there are occasional errors in the online orders during peak times. Nothing major, but if you have specific dietary needs or preferences then I suggest going in person or ordering during the periods where they aren't swamped. read more

Side chick is my main chick(en place)! This place is incredible. Love the hot chicken because I love spicy food, but the nonspicy options are delicious as well. Never have I eaten such crispy, yet moist and flavorful chicken. A++ and OMG so many sauce choices and they are all amazing! And that's just the chicken. The sandwiches! I loves a DIY chicken sandwich so I can balance the heat (hot chicken and jalapeños) with the not heat (cheese and sauce). My boo gets the French Chick and I'm always stealing a bite. Can I say the fries are perfect? Honestly, some of the best in SD. Beautifully seasoned. I crave this place all the time. Cole slaw? bangin! The chicken? bangin! Sandwiches? bangin! The fries? bangin! Get yourself to side chick already! read more

The chicken cafe is located right next to food land off federal blvd. We were craving a chicken salad and stumbled upon this place on Yelp. Good chicken sandwich( the side chick without slaw). Fried fresh, seasoned well and crispy. We also tried two orders of the side chick fries. They were good however they are topped with 3 different sauces and the Cali sauce was not our favorite. So next we'll order our fries without it. Customer service was mediocre. The cashier was not very efficient or friendly. Prices are average. Portion size are average. Plenty of parking. read more

I'm a person who enoys trying out different Spicy Chicken Sandwhiches. I've been wanting to give this place a try, and i haved mixed feelings about this place. So my Wife and I, shared the "Side Chick and the Hot Chick burger." Pros: The Side chick burger we rate 7/10. It was pretty good however, I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone who does not like mayo because of their sauce. *Cost is very affordable for 5. before taxes *Chicken was very crispy, and it tasted like church chicken in my opinion. Cons: The Hot Chick we rate 3/10 The problem wasn't that it was really spicy, but the fact that it lacked flavor, it literally tasted just chile de arbol. *To improve the taste my wife mixed the side chick sauce with the Hot chick sauce. read more

Well I always enjoy a nice Chicken Sandwich so I have been trying lots of others Chicken Places and this one is very comparable to the others and there Chicken Sandwiches are pretty darn good !! It is up there with Those other Chicken Places !! Well here this Chicken Place is located on Euclid Ave in Down South San Diego and on the Corner of a Mexican Super Market !! But parking is no problem and there are a couple of tables inside and chairs for you to sit !! Also a couple of tables outside the restaurant too !! As I was waiting for my order I looked around and I believe this shop is fairly new and if you download there app you get 3 dollars off your first order !! Will I got there Side Chick Sandwiches and it is basically there regular Chicken Sandwiches and it was pretty darn good and had good flavor !! Basically it is not spicy and you could order a spicy Chicken Sandwich but I was feeling for Regular Chicken Sandwich !! Overall it was cooked well and bursting with flavor !!! Service was up to par and location is easy to find !! So If your looking for an Chicken Sandwich restaurant and craving it I suggest you give it a try and enjoy !! If I happen to be around that area again I shall stop by and enjoy more !!! read more

This place is a total hidden gem. I got the hot chick and it was one of the spiciest sandwiches I've ever had, but it was also SO flavorful. Some restaurants burn your mouth with spice to hide bland flavors but that's not the case here. My husband got the Korean chick and is still talking about how delicious it was 24 hours later. Service was fast and friendly. We got some tenders too and they were just a little spicy but clearly hand breaded and seasoned. We will 100% be back to this place. Please note they are a tad greasy and again, large. So don't come in for just a snack! The meat on both were the superstars. They also are a full butchery (they even have a subscription box!). So there are meats in the case and marinated options galore. We came for breakfast but left with some chicken and red meat options for dinner this week. It's a tad expensive for both sandwiches and the meats but all in all seem right for the quality. Service was also fast and friendly. Very knowledgeable and ready to help. We got street parking but there's also a small lot it's attached to. There's some counter seating outside you can eat at once you order. Would def recommend!

I started with the clam chowder, which had generous chunks of clam and a really nice seafood flavor. The lobster roll, however, was what we came for, and it did not disappoint! It was PACKED with meaty lobster and quality butter, making it well worth the visit. The fries were also fresh and made in-house, and they were perfect dipped in malt vinegar. Pete's is my go-to when I'm craving fresh seafood without breaking the bank. Indulging in Side Chicks was a flavor-packed journey that left my taste buds applauding. The chicken sandwich was a masterpiece - fresh, tantalizingly tasty, with juicy and flavorful chicken embraced by buns that boasted the perfect touch of buttery goodness. The fries were not just good; they were a value-packed delight, leaving me feeling like I hit the jackpot. And let's talk about the hospitality - the owner was as delightful as the menu. Their warmth and friendliness added an extra sprinkle of joy to the dining experience. If you're on a quest for a bit of heaven in your meal, Side Chicks is your destination. It's earned its place next to hot chicken legends like Howlin' Rays on my list. Don't hesitate - come here and savor the delicious symphony they bring to your palate! read more

I tried the chicken sandwich and while the chicken pieces were certainly fat and juicy, I found the seasoning to be quite bland. While I appreciate that the sandwich is priced well and always seems to be fresh, I would have enjoyed it much more with a bit more flavor. Overall, Cluckin' Good offers a decent chicken sandwich option for those who are looking for an affordable and fresh meal. However, I would caution that the seasoning on the chicken is lacking, which could be a disappointment for those who are looking for a more flavorful experience. Fresh and affordable, but lacking in the flavor department. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Side Chick, a small but mighty establishment specializing in fried chicken sandwiches. The prices are extremely affordable and the quality of the food is top-notch, with a flavor profile similar to that of a Raising Cane's sandwich. Everything on the menu is worth trying, but my personal favorite was the Korean Chick sandwich, which was bursting with flavor. The staff at Side Chick were friendly and attentive, making for a great overall dining experience. I highly recommend Side Chick for anyone in search of delicious, affordable food that doesn't sacrifice quality. read more

I ordered the chicken sandwich with the hot honey on the side, and it hit exactly how I wanted it to. The chicken was crispy, well-seasoned, and had a good crunch without being greasy. The hot honey added that perfect sweet-heat balance when I drizzled it on. Portion size was fair for the price and overall it felt like good value for what you get. Simple menu, fast enough service, and a sandwich that actually delivers on flavor. I'd definitely go back and try other options. Overall: worth the price and a solid go-to if you're craving a good chicken sandwich in San Diego. read more

I stopped by and ordered the hot chicken sandwich, and let me tell you--it definitely had a kick to it! But it was fresh, flavorful, and very good. Super delicious. I have been there twice, the first chicken sandwich I had was the hot chick. OMGosh it is spicy (for me) but it was Soooo good I kept eating it, I had some tears and snot coming down but I just couldn't stop. Sauce is amazing, coleslaw is not dripping, crisp enough. The fries a super delicious seasoned just enough. Price is very reasonable. I hope it doesn't change. Lots of parking. read more

I called the restaurant again while standing inside, and a young person answered the phone.
