Invalid restaurant.com certificate meaage

To whom it may concern, Found this place using restaurant.com. Called to place a pizza order and the man voice on the other end said, what size? I said, I show one price on your site of 15.99. He said, tell me how many people you are feeding and I'll take care of you. And said price was for a medium pizza. Not Large. So I ordered 2 medium pizzas and a salad. I said, it's not about number of people. How much for your pizzas. I should have moved on, but I had a restaurant.com certificate. $25 for $50 dollars of food ordered. The sweetest young women at the register greeted me. 2nd red flag: the menu items that were listed in the paper menu on the counter - in front of me- had lower pricing.   When I questioned the cashier, she said I don't make the pricing it's in the computer.   And then, when I tried to use the certificate provided below it was saying invalid. She called her manager. Finally get a hold of him she handed the phone to me. All I heard was, "you didn't tell me you had a certificate." At that point, I was frustrated and said no thank you as I felt this was a Shiesty business.   In the way home, I received a phone call from the manager stating I quote "fuck you, you are a piece of shit, mother fucker." What the heck? Stay away......far away.

Glad this place is open late! A lot of places close by 10pm. Also, most affordable of the ones open late. I love that their specialty pizzas are reasonably priced, because it's nice to have more than just 1 topping without feeling like you're being taken advantage of. And of course, it tasted great! I added some chili flakes, parmesean, & sriracha at home... the perfect combo!! Speaking of perfect, I was so happy to see that they sold Vimto here. A boldly, sweet, sparkling beverage. They have in both cans or bottles... try one if you haven't before. It's most similar to a Shirley Temple. Although I got carry-out, you could very well dine inside, as there's a couple tables & an expansive menu with a lot of classic choices (pasta, salad, sandwiches, chicken tenders, fries, etc).

food is always delicious and comes out quickly! Beyond helpful and friendly service. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!! The quality and taste of the food is definitely beyond the worth of what you pay for.

Dont know if it is under new management or what, but the reviews under this talking about great service is a lie. We walked in around 8:20pm and theres no menu up, i asked about prices and they looked at me like crazy. A medium pizza, a chicken alfredo pasta and 2 bottled drinks will run you about 50 bucks. Food took about 45 mins . Help is wanted "with experience " They definitely need it. Only 2 female cooks present, while we were waiting for food, they dropped what they were doing and went ahead to hugging and loving it up with 2 random males that walked into the establishment. Price wise and poor customer service gives this place a 1 star, the other star comes from the food. A chicken fajita pizza had about nothing cups of chicken, a whole lot of mushrooms though. Would not recommend this places to others or the chicken fajita pizza.

Chicken shawarma and fries

This place has been in my neighborhood since 2018, and I never had a chance to try it in a while, I think it used to be a different pizza place until it got taken over by Baba'z Grill. Located right next to 大三元 777 noodles house, it stays opened until 4 AM every day. If you want to try Middle Eastern style pizza, it is the place, unless you are a regular shawarma or others which they also have on the menu. $18 medium size pizza, I ordered meat lover no cheese and thin crust, came put great, has ground beef, pepperoni and sausage, I was hoping to have chicken on the topping as well, but the size portion was just right, perfect for one person, the thin slides made it decent and not overpowering for my taste, of course without the cheese I enjoyed it even more, plus you get to try to fajitas sauce and the buffalo sauce on your pizza instead of the regular marinara sauce. I guess I missed out on the Mashawi plate, and I am glad I asked, they only have chicken plate right now, and if I wanted something else I need to call ahead. Thank you to Mosab who took care of my order, it was fast, less than 15 minutes, he offered me dine in option since they have tables, but I asked for take out. Also the place accepts EBT, I can't wait to come back to try the Mashawi plate, I obtained the cell phone number of Mosab so I can call in advance. Parking is in the back, since after the road construction it's even harder to find any street parking now.

The food is was great and one of my favorite spots when I'm craving middle eastern wraps- I did built your own pita so of course I like the ingredients. I loved my pita bread (it's much different from the Greek style if you haven't tried it before!) and the enjoyed the steak in particular. It had a lot of warming spices (nutmeg and cinnamon maybe?) and the flavor is pretty unique! I added bell peppers, pickled cucumbers, lettuce, tomato, red onion, tahini sauce, and garlic sauce. I also got a piece of falafel - I always gotta judge a place by their falafel and this one was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside which was perfect. Next time I need to try the halloumi cheese stix with fig jam! Place was very clean and the decor was nice. I also love the Finjan coffee spot next door.

The staff is also consistently warm and kind, which makes the whole experience feel good from the moment you walk in. My only real frustration is with the wait times on online orders, and it's significant enough that I have to mention it. I work 10 min away and only get a 35-40 minute break. The app consistently quotes around 20 minutes- but honestly, 20 minutes shouldn't even be necessary. I've stood there and watched them make a bowl. It takes about two minutes. Other similar restaurants have my order ready in five minutes, consistently. So when the app quotes 20 and then I still end up waiting at the 20 minute mark on top of that - in a nearly empty restaurant - something is off. Today this happened (I hit the 20 min mark with no food), and I had to go up and ask them to make my order. This isn't a one-time thing either. It's happened enough times over the years that it genuinely deters me from coming here on my break. To their credit, there was a stretch where it seemed like they had it figured out, so I know they can do it. I just wish that consistency would stick. If you're not on a time crunch, absolutely go. The food alone is worth it. But if you're relying on a quoted pickup time, build in a buffer- a bigger one than you'd think you'd need.

I ordered a cheese pizza with fresh ricotta for delivery. I received a margherita pizza. I contacted the platform I ordered through and they told me they spoke with the manager, and he said he "could not refund because that's how they make their pizzas". When I replied that was not true with photo evidence, the restaurant then said they had made another pizza and "a guy" came to pick it up. I told them I neither received another pizza, nor was I even informed I would be getting another pizza. Then they said the manager told them that *I* came and picked up the pizza. 1 - I'm female. 2 - I was too sick to leave my house to walk to the restaurant across the street, I was absolutely not getting in my car to drive anywhere. It's unfortunate because I would have come back here because the food quality was good but I work in hospitality myself and it's clear these people don't care about retaining customers. There are enough other pizza places to choose from that treat you way better.

Since we were going to be in Hillcrest, we chose Khyber Pass - and wow, what an incredible decision. This was easily some of the best food I've had in a very long time. We started with the Bolani. Absolute perfection. It had a beautiful crunch, perfectly seasoned filling, and none of that sogginess I often run into with Bolani elsewhere. We could've ordered another plate and been thrilled. Next came the Aushak with ground beef: one of my all-time favorite Afghan dishes. Think of it like delicate leek-filled ravioli topped with savory meat and tangy yogurt. It hit all the right notes. We also shared the Kofta Kabob, served with grilled vegetables and fluffy basmati rice. The seasoning was spot on, and the meat was juicy and tender, similar to Persian koobideh, but truly memorable in its own way. Our server recommended the Afghan Yaghoot Chalao (Cherry Curry) with chicken. Yes, cherries! Sweet, sour, rich, bright. I had to resist the urge to literally lick my plate clean. And then: the Qabuli Palao with lamb. I do not like lamb. My friend loves it, so I agreed...and I'm so glad I did. I genuinely loved this dish. The saffron-coriander rice with carrots and raisins was aromatic and comforting, and the lamb was tender and flavorful. If you're hesitant about lamb, trust me, this dish might convert you. Portions were generous, we came hungry, and still left with leftovers. I also ordered the house-made Doogh, a mint yogurt drink. It's not for everyone, but it's pure comfort to me. We finished with hot tea infused with cardamom, black for me, green for my friend, and it was the perfect close to a perfect meal. I told our server that this food was even more delicious than what my mother makes. I'm Afghan born and raised in San Diego. That is not a compliment I give lightly. I believe the restaurant is under newer management since around 2020/2021. I last ate here in 2015, and even back when it was on Convoy in the late '90s, and this is the best it has ever been. I highly, highly recommend Khyber Pass to anyone: adventurous eaters, first-timers, comfort-food seekers, well everyone. I'll definitely be back, and next time I'm saving room for dessert.
