The portions are awesome, the price is great, and the flavors are excellent. I will always recommend this place to anyone who loves chicken! The service is excellent, super friendly staff. The restaurant is small and there is limited seating outside but that is the only thing I'd say is lacking, but it isn't their fault it's a small restaurant putting out some delicious chicken!
If you love chicken sandwiches, Side Chick is the spot. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor--every bite hits just right. Their spicy chicken sandwich had the perfect kick, and the slaw added a refreshing crunch that kept me coming back for more. Sides: Don't sleep on the fries--they're crispy, seasoned perfectly, and pair amazingly with their dipping sauces. Vibe: Casual, fun, and welcoming. Perfect for a quick lunch or a chill hangout with friends. Staff are friendly and super upbeat. I've tried a lot of chicken sandwiches in town, but Side Chicks takes it to the next level. Bold flavors, satisfying crunch, and the kind of spot that makes you say, "Yep, I'll be back."
5/9/2026 - returned back here and just ordered 4 Basic Chick sandwiches. Brought several friends with me this time. Sitting outside and hope they enjoy it. 15 minutes more should be goodness coming our way. More to come. 3 stars at the moment. Total cost was $12.55 to feed 4 adults. One sandwich per person. Wow. 5 minutes later it's out. 5 stars. We all over it. 4 nice crispy greats not over cooked and crunchy, places in good size thick and crisp pickles between 2 buns. Hot and moist chicken and not over cooked. Come try this place. Just $5 each! You can try other versions for a few dollars more as well
Omg how did I not know about this place sooner??? This shop is right next to the grocery store so after you grab your groceries, head on over to Side Chicks. I recommend ordering online so you can simply pickup and go. I got the Hot Chick sandwich which was the Nashville style sandwich. Be careful it's SPICY WOO! So big, so cheap, so fresh, and so delicious! Highly recommend this one and the chicken was thick and tender. I think for $6-8 it's so worth the price! I also got the onion rings and it was delicious. Definitely hits the spot! I'll 1000% be back to try other stuff here. Parking: 9/10 (easy to find parking) Service: 7/10 (fast and efficient. I'd order online) Ambiance: 8/10 (outside seating provided, kiosk to order or with staff, clean, and small) Food: 10/10 (enjoyed the fluffy bread, tender and crispy chicken breast, spice level was kicking for this one, and coleslaw was creamy and delicious)
Stopped here on a Sunday after a long day of working hard. The whole family was exhausted and we wanted chicken sandwiches. It was great to see the newest Sando on the menu: "The Italian Chick", with marinara sauce and italian cheese. We tried: 1. The (Original) Basic Chick and 2. The Western Chick with Fries, bbq sauce on side and added a korean sauce on the side Everything was DELICIOUS! The fries are a seasoned french fries version and very tasty. The sauce on the side for dipping was perfect. Each sandwich was prepared well, and the fried chicken filet was perfectly crispy. They never let us down here. We discovered this place a few years ago when they only had 1-2 chicken sandwiches on the menu. Now, they have expanded their menu with SEVERAL different sandwich choices, loaded fries, and they have "Gabby's Cookies" which are stuffed with filling in them. I do miss "The French Chick" Sando. Thanks Side Chick, I am so glad that we found you a few years ago and that you're still going strong
BAD bad bad bad BAD just had this and i cannot recommend enough that you skip it completely. pictures on their menu are completely misleading. compare "fries" depicted on menu to soggy, mushy potatoes received. chicken sandwiches were beyond disappointing. the bread was stale. the hot honey sandwich had no hot honey. the chicken was not crispy/fried. one of the sandwiches was missing pickles. service was super slow and although hours say they close at 10pm, employees locked doors right at 9pm, and some people had to leave bc the doors were locked. truly so bad i don't understand the current 4.4 rating P.S. EDITING bc i forgot to mention that they charge you $0.50 for ranch, and it's freaking Hidden Valley
Let's talk about those friends, always complaining about not being able to eat that plain-a$$-chicken-sandwich (w/the cow mascot) on Sundays! Side Chick has been here for years! Stop hiding from South East Day-Go and patronize a small business, 7 days a week! Food is made to order so it's HOT! The Basic Side Chick with Pickles (on the side) gets the job done. Service is always some young man who is attentive, moves with urgency and knows how to "count back" my change. For less than $12 you have a good-sized sandwich and fries (1/2 order). I do wish the fries were crispier, but that's one of the downsides to fresh cut fries. I'm not a huge fan of the fry salt- I just don't get the hint of sugar on my fries thing. The Pickles are good on their own! We always order extra for snacking on later. Would love to have their pickles brined with the fresh jalapeños so they can be extra spicy. Grilled Brooch bun is on point. We always devour our sandwiches as soon as we get them (pix are from their www.eatsidechick.com) I think I'm going to spread my wings and go for the Korean chick fries on my next go-round.
Finally got to try this place after seeing it for so long and it ended up being very good! I got the seasonal hot honey basic chick sandwich which was pretty large (bun + chicken patty) and well worth the price. A little spicy due to the hot honey, and wouldn't mind trying the other flavors. Staff were very nice and it didn't take that long to get my order. No seating inside, just a few tables outside. The man who greeted me, was very friendly and warned me about the level of spice right away. I ended up doing half spice and honey mustard. The chicken had great flavor and crunch, bun to chicken ratio was perfect. The fries were very similar to Wingstop fries, which aren't my personal preference, but they will do. Plenty of parking and a grocery store right next door to run errands while waiting for your food. Will definitely be coming back. read more

Walking in we were greeted by a smile the service was nice. The inside was small more of a pick up style then sit down place. My food was pretty good it's just that the bun was quite soggy due to the sauce. And I do wish the chicken filled my whole bun because it was an odd shape so one part of my sandwich was more bun and coleslaw than chicken. read more

Ever since I saw Side Chick was under construction at FoodLand (or Manolo now), I've had my eye on it. Finally stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon and they were pretty busy! I ordered the Side Chick (~$5) and it took about 15 minutes for my food to be done. It was only two employees working and they also share a kitchen with a takeout sushi joint. So definitely understaffed but some hiccups are to be expected at a new food joint. The sandwich was delicious! Definitely a big piece of chicken and it was well seasoned + juicy. The sauce on the side went great with the sandwich. It wasn't too spicy either. I do wish the bun was toasted more but I'll definitely come back! read more

I swear I thought I wrote a review about this place or maybe I tried to keep this place as one of my secret spots haha either way, I love coming to this place. They have a simple, straightforward menu with a good variety. The location is within Manolo but has a separate entrance. They have a variety of drinks you can grab when you order your food. I have tried the skinny chick before here, it's usually my go to and it's delicious because they keep the grilled chicken juicy which is important for me. This time around I tried their cali chick and Nashville fries. I devoured my sandwich within minutes and those fries were so packed, I had to help my partner finish them. The Nashville fries truly pack that spice so be careful with it haha read more

My review is only for the food as someone picked up the food for me. I tried their Hot Strips, 1 Regular Tender and the Skinny Chick Sandwich but lettuce wrapped! I loved it and it was wrapped nicely which made the eating experience nice. I do keto so it's something different than getting the usual protein style from In-n-Out. The tenders were extra crispy but not full of breading. I wish they were spicier though! They have a wide selection of dipping sauces but I wasn't too fond of them, although I feel like the seasoning on the tenders already provide lots of flavor. I got extra pickles and if you're a pickle lover you're going to want to order an extra side of them. They're so good with the meal and have the perfect sourness. I have to be craving chicken tenders but when I do I will remember to come back to Side Chick! read more

Wow! This place is a hidden gem, after seeing a long line at Popeyes across the street I decided to check out this place. I'm glad I did as there was no line and the prices were low. I ordered the hot chicken sandwich. WARNING! WHEN THEY SAY HOT THEY MEAN IT! THE SPICE LEVEL IS NO JOKE! so If u can't handle spicy and I mean spicy don't order it. Should really come with a warning tbh. Anyways the quality of the chicken is great and I enjoyed the sandwich alot I will be coming back most Def! read more

Upset with myself for not finding this place sooner. Side Chick is a chicken sandwich shop attached to a grocery store. It's similar in concept to In n Out where they have about 5 items on the menu and everything is executed to perfection. I ordered the Hot Chick and my friend ordered the Side Chick. We both enjoyed our sandwiches very much. The Hot Chick does have seeds from a pepper on it so if you're sensitive to heat, I recommend sticking with the Side Chick. You could tell that they use quality ingredients and cook the food fresh for you. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality you're getting. I recommend splitting the fries with someone else because the portion size may be too much for just one person. Customer service was a bit lacking from the gal who took our order and gave us food but I understand we may have off days from time to time. It took us off guard that as soon as we walked in, she asked us what she can get for us. I was halfway inside when she asked that question. This doesn't warrant less stars but it is something to take note of going forward. TLDR; this place is bomb and will be telling everyone about it. I definitely will be back! read more

Ordered their Signature Fries and 2 sandwiches to share with the hubby--the Hot Chick and the Cali Chick. The fries were plentiful but were a bit soggy. I wasn't expecting the hot chick to be that hot but it was hella spicy and I needed a sip of water after every bite. Despite the ultra spiciness, I liked the Hot Chick sandwich better than the Cali Chick. These are basic chicken sandwiches almost comparable to Main Chick Hot Chicken or Dave's Hot Chicken; but not as flavorful. Pricing is comparable, as well. Although, I will say [Side Chick's] chicken tender inside the sandwich is a pretty generous portion. Overall 3.5 stars. read more

Heard about this place via Facebook. Decided to give it a shot while visiting San Diego. We were not disappointed. The sandwiches are very well put together, with so many contrasting textures and perfect flavor mixes! Be warned, the Hot Chick is HOT. Not in the way most places say "hot" and you get a hint of black or cayenne pepper. This thang ZINGS! Runny nose hot, but all flavor and not overpowered by just heat. Cooled off the tongue with a delicious strawberry lemonade. Even with snot on my lips and my tongue having a mild stroke, you could really taste the strawberry and lemonade joined together in a marriage of sweet and tart. 10/10 Ordered (and enjoyed) the basket of fries too. It's big enough for two to share and the homemade fry sauce is a flavorful take on Thousand Island. Finally! A Chicken sandwich that's all chicken, and priced perfectly *chef's kiss* Do yourself a favor and give them a visit. Definitely going back during my next stop in SD. This place is really good don't get me wrong I just had a problem with the bread we noticed there was a black spot on it. Wasn't sure it was mold or what so I called they said send pictures to the number I was one the phone with.. I still haven't gotten an answer. read more
This place rocks! It's just a hole-in-the-wall, but it's easy walk up ordering with plenty of drink choices to grab and very nice, spacious and comfy patio seating. The food is great, fresh and the price is right! $5 a sandwich. Really. read more

Yesterday I had my mom pick me up some food on her way home. She was at my grandma's house and this is the first place that popped up on Yelp in that area. Seemed like a new place & the reviews so far were good, so I gave it a shot! Now travel time definitely plays a part into the experience/quality of the food by the time you eat it, but overall, I was still really satisfied!! I definitely liked the Hot Chick (although it could've been hotter) better. Both sandwiches had a nice crunch to them, even with the sauces and the coleslaw. I'm normally not even a fan of coleslaw but it tasted good with these sandwiches. Now pickles are my archenemy and I forgot to tell my mom no pickles (and honestly I was upset that she didn't know me enough to know that I DESPISE them lol), so I was nervous the sandwiches would be a little tainted because I'm the type that can taste the pickle juice/residue no matter what, BUT I still enjoyed them lol The fries were really good too! I was honestly really surprised by the fries. Nooowwwwww some people hate In N Out fries, but personally, I'm a fan (of course as long as I eat them right away.) I saw y'all of that to say that these fries reminded me of In N Out's fries, except they were bigger. They had a really nice crunch to them as well and I enjoyed the fresh/quality taste of them. Another great part about this place, we're the prices!! Im not sure how long they'll last, but each sandwich was only $5! That's a steal!!! Not sure if that's the price point because it's a new Restaurant or because they just love their customers lol, but either way, I love it! I had the chance to visit Side Chick when on the West Coast. This one was connected to a small grocery store. They offered takeout only. There are a few seats to sit outside and dine on a nice day. The manager/part owner of the restaurant was really friendly. Because we were not familiar with the store he offered samples of the different sandwiches that they offered. Although we got to sample most of them, my favorite was the Korean sandwich. It was a chicken sandwich with slightly fermented, vegetables, cucumber, and a Korean sauce. It was very good. I also got a order of fries. The fries were cooked very well and seasoned already. also in our order was the chicken and waffle. It's called the sweet chick. It was very good as well. The chicken was cooked crispy and the waffle was sweet. I like their chicken because it has a crunchy outer breading and comes with different sauces that complement the flavor that they are going for. The staff that worked in the store was really really nice and it warmed my heart to know that the business was partly minority owned. If I am on the West Coast again, I would definitely stop by to try other sandwiches from them. read more
