The portions are awesome, the price is great, and the flavors are excellent. I will always recommend this place to anyone who loves chicken! The service is excellent, super friendly staff. The restaurant is small and there is limited seating outside but that is the only thing I'd say is lacking, but it isn't their fault it's a small restaurant putting out some delicious chicken!
If you love chicken sandwiches, Side Chick is the spot. Crispy, juicy, and packed with flavor--every bite hits just right. Their spicy chicken sandwich had the perfect kick, and the slaw added a refreshing crunch that kept me coming back for more. Sides: Don't sleep on the fries--they're crispy, seasoned perfectly, and pair amazingly with their dipping sauces. Vibe: Casual, fun, and welcoming. Perfect for a quick lunch or a chill hangout with friends. Staff are friendly and super upbeat. I've tried a lot of chicken sandwiches in town, but Side Chicks takes it to the next level. Bold flavors, satisfying crunch, and the kind of spot that makes you say, "Yep, I'll be back."
5/9/2026 - returned back here and just ordered 4 Basic Chick sandwiches. Brought several friends with me this time. Sitting outside and hope they enjoy it. 15 minutes more should be goodness coming our way. More to come. 3 stars at the moment. Total cost was $12.55 to feed 4 adults. One sandwich per person. Wow. 5 minutes later it's out. 5 stars. We all over it. 4 nice crispy greats not over cooked and crunchy, places in good size thick and crisp pickles between 2 buns. Hot and moist chicken and not over cooked. Come try this place. Just $5 each! You can try other versions for a few dollars more as well
Omg how did I not know about this place sooner??? This shop is right next to the grocery store so after you grab your groceries, head on over to Side Chicks. I recommend ordering online so you can simply pickup and go. I got the Hot Chick sandwich which was the Nashville style sandwich. Be careful it's SPICY WOO! So big, so cheap, so fresh, and so delicious! Highly recommend this one and the chicken was thick and tender. I think for $6-8 it's so worth the price! I also got the onion rings and it was delicious. Definitely hits the spot! I'll 1000% be back to try other stuff here. Parking: 9/10 (easy to find parking) Service: 7/10 (fast and efficient. I'd order online) Ambiance: 8/10 (outside seating provided, kiosk to order or with staff, clean, and small) Food: 10/10 (enjoyed the fluffy bread, tender and crispy chicken breast, spice level was kicking for this one, and coleslaw was creamy and delicious)
Stopped here on a Sunday after a long day of working hard. The whole family was exhausted and we wanted chicken sandwiches. It was great to see the newest Sando on the menu: "The Italian Chick", with marinara sauce and italian cheese. We tried: 1. The (Original) Basic Chick and 2. The Western Chick with Fries, bbq sauce on side and added a korean sauce on the side Everything was DELICIOUS! The fries are a seasoned french fries version and very tasty. The sauce on the side for dipping was perfect. Each sandwich was prepared well, and the fried chicken filet was perfectly crispy. They never let us down here. We discovered this place a few years ago when they only had 1-2 chicken sandwiches on the menu. Now, they have expanded their menu with SEVERAL different sandwich choices, loaded fries, and they have "Gabby's Cookies" which are stuffed with filling in them. I do miss "The French Chick" Sando. Thanks Side Chick, I am so glad that we found you a few years ago and that you're still going strong
BAD bad bad bad BAD just had this and i cannot recommend enough that you skip it completely. pictures on their menu are completely misleading. compare "fries" depicted on menu to soggy, mushy potatoes received. chicken sandwiches were beyond disappointing. the bread was stale. the hot honey sandwich had no hot honey. the chicken was not crispy/fried. one of the sandwiches was missing pickles. service was super slow and although hours say they close at 10pm, employees locked doors right at 9pm, and some people had to leave bc the doors were locked. truly so bad i don't understand the current 4.4 rating P.S. EDITING bc i forgot to mention that they charge you $0.50 for ranch, and it's freaking Hidden Valley
Let's talk about those friends, always complaining about not being able to eat that plain-a$$-chicken-sandwich (w/the cow mascot) on Sundays! Side Chick has been here for years! Stop hiding from South East Day-Go and patronize a small business, 7 days a week! Food is made to order so it's HOT! The Basic Side Chick with Pickles (on the side) gets the job done. Service is always some young man who is attentive, moves with urgency and knows how to "count back" my change. For less than $12 you have a good-sized sandwich and fries (1/2 order). I do wish the fries were crispier, but that's one of the downsides to fresh cut fries. I'm not a huge fan of the fry salt- I just don't get the hint of sugar on my fries thing. The Pickles are good on their own! We always order extra for snacking on later. Would love to have their pickles brined with the fresh jalapeños so they can be extra spicy. Grilled Brooch bun is on point. We always devour our sandwiches as soon as we get them (pix are from their www.eatsidechick.com) I think I'm going to spread my wings and go for the Korean chick fries on my next go-round.
Finally got to try this place after seeing it for so long and it ended up being very good! I got the seasonal hot honey basic chick sandwich which was pretty large (bun + chicken patty) and well worth the price. A little spicy due to the hot honey, and wouldn't mind trying the other flavors. Staff were very nice and it didn't take that long to get my order. No seating inside, just a few tables outside. TL;DR: Crispy chicken sandos varying in different spice levels. You will likely sweat eating the Hot Chick. Fries are alright - nothing special. Chicken strips are solid side order for extra protein Ordered: Side chick (4/5): Really good chicken sando. Fried to a crisp and the chicken was juicy inside. Good flavoring with the pickles too Hot chick (3/5): point of caution - this sandwich is HOT. Like sweat uncontrollably for 15 minutes after your last bite. Same good textures as the side chick but arguably too hot where you don't taste anything but pepper Fries (3/5): flavor was good not great. That said, almost necessary to soak up the heat of the hot chick Strips (4/5): Solid side for the price too! Probably my go-to next time I'm back - great value! It was very good, besides a lil soggy from ride home but after a lil toaster action it was crispy like you'd won't a waffle to be . I thought the chicken had great flavor, my friend said it was too much for her. But I found it to be perfect. It was worth the try! Thanks to the reviews I read!!! I've been coming here for about a year and everything has been great until today. I placed an order for custom fries with Nashville hot chicken and what I got was RAW CHICKEN. Everything was good at first until I took a bite out of a flimsy piece of raw chicken. After feeling every chicken in the box, I pulled out around 3- 5 pieces of pink flimsy raw chicken. I loved chicken. I will never eat it again after this meal. I am truly traumatized. Thankfully, the staff were swift with me and were able to give me a refund. The food was good other times but sadly due to this, I will not take the risk of eating here and getting raw chicken again. Hoping I don't feel sick after this. read more

Rate this food a solid 4.0, the full portion was 15 bucks (half was 10) and is well over enough food for 2 people. Fry to chicken ratio is almost 50/50 and the chicken and fries were still crispy and hot by the time we got home. The downsides of this place was that the service was slow, almost 15 minutes for my food when i arrived with no one in line/inside waiting. The biggest downside is that the hot chick sandwich and fries option are SPICY. Way more heat than disclosed but still enjoyable for a consistent spicy person. Otherwise maybe stick to the original style or ask before hand. overall got some good food and surprisingly good prices so forsure will be back. read more

During Economic Blackout I just so happen to be cruising and noticed the sign Side Chick. I honestly thought they were making a play on chicken but when I saw that they had a woman on it I had to check them out. Side Chick is in a busy shopping center next to a Mexican Mercado. I believe the eating area was small but I did pickup so I wasn't paying much attention to the inside .The front had a couple of bistro tables to eat that looked pleasant. The lady was very friendly and explained to me the different sandwiches and I went with The Cali Chick which contains: chicken, jalapeño's ,avocado, onion, lettuce and tomato and I left off the chipotle sauce. I ordered 2 Mexican Glass soda pops of Cocoa Cola & Sprite. The big ones (16.9 oz) so I was excited and personally think they are better tasting than the ones in cans or soda machine. Overall service was fast and food was good and prices are reasonable. read more

The service was fast and the food was delicious. This is mainly takeout but they do have a few seats outside the business. The tables were clean but I don't know who cleans them. I'll be back again any try something else. I had the Korean chicken sandwich. read more
Really cool local chicken spot located inside a Mexican market. Recently a second location was opened close to imperial Beach. Very friendly employees, you can tell the cooks are passionate about the food they make. Big selling point, the prices are very affordable, and the food quality is delicious. There's going to be plenty of parking because it's at a market. Two for one you can do a little grocery shopping and grab some food on the way out!! It's a pretty lively atmosphere as everyone is there to do some shopping, and then you smell that good chicken, and you know what happens next. My high recommendation would definitely be The western chick sandwich, and the side chick fries. Those fries are seriously loaded!! read more

Located next to a supermarket. Shared lot with them, lots of parking but also tons of huge shipping trucks going in and out and blocking driveways etc. Outside seating only, shaded. Cashier was friendly. Food took about 15-20 minutes. They were fairly busy. Ordered: Nashville - after kick, wasn't up front. Just okay. Tender - dry/stringy. Not a fan. Very crispy though. Fries - HUGE portion for $10. It had Franks red hot sauce and ranch. Flavor was just ok. I prefer dave's hot chicken because the chicken is more moist. This was a tad dried out. read more
A solid 4.5 star establishment based on value, hospitality, generosity, and that it's a local small business. We stopped by after a workout for some chicken sandwiches. I was shocked by the price ($5-7) and was expecting them to be tiny slider sizes but they were pretty hefty! We were helped by Lalo who was incredibly hospitable and generous. He let us sample the different sauces and even let us try the different drinks! We had such a tough time picking between the Sandwiches because they were all really delicious but we settled on the Cali Chick (the chipotle sauce is so good) and the Korean Chick (the kimchi coleslaw was super refreshing) as well as a side of fries, a lemon/cucumber aide and a strawberry lemonade mixed with Jamaica. They also offered sodas, kombucha, and desserts from Manolo The drinks were served without ice... so that means all 16 Oz of your drink is delicious flavorful liquid. If you're concerned about it getting warm, drink fast or take it home and add ice! Both sandwiches were flavorful and well balanced. The fries were super plentiful and thick cut. Lalo also included one of each type of sauce they had as well as a hot chicken strip for free for us to try! My only critiques would be that the chicken could be a touch juicier and the fried a bit crispier. The patty is pretty fat so I'm sure they wanted to ensure it was thoroughly cooked. This is easily remedied by cooking the chicken at a higher temp for less time or by pounding the chicken slightly thinner. The delicious sauces and additions in the sandwiches made the slight chicken dryness barely noticeable though. Side chick is connected to Manolo supermarket so it's super convenient to come before or after shopping. There are outdoor tables as well as a few chairs inside! Come support this local shop and say hi to Lalo for me! read more
I've been hearing good things about this eatery, so I was excited to try them out. Side Chick is connected to a grocery store, but has its own entrance. I ordered The Hot Chick, Side Chick Fries, a cucumber lemonade, and a fruit tart! Everything was made to order, so expect a small wait. The chicken in both entrees were so flavorful! The spicy sandwich had a nice kick to it. I loved the bite-size pieces of the chicken and fresh-cut fries as well. The agua fresca was also really refreshing and hit the spot. Definitely check this place out if you're a fan of chicken! read more

The chicken itself was tasty but sandwiches didn't feel well put together. Appreciated the fun name though. Connected to Manolo, Side Chick offered a simple menu of chicken sandwiches, tenders and fries. They also had desserts and beverages chilled in shelves out front. Their prices were reasonable, with all of the sandwiches being $6 and under. Our order took 25 minutes to complete and I actually finished grocery shopping before the sandwiches were done. I saw an employee stopping next door to grab some ingredients so I'm assuming certain items weren't prepped prior. =ORDERED= Both sandwiches came with a side of honey mustard that was very sweet and honey forward. Personally would have preferred more sharpness from the sauce. *Cali Chick: precariously put together on top of a slab of cabbage. Wished the vegetables were cut and distributed better on the sandwich. Didn't have a single bite where everything was contained. However, the chicken was breaded well so it wasn't oily. *Side Chick: sad, goopy abomination. Coleslaw tasted like the classic mayo heavy grocery store version. Had more flavor than the Cali Chick but the brioche buns were soggy from the excess coleslaw runoff. Chicken was once again great and juicy though. Seeing that their chickens were fried well, I would stick to their chicken independent items. The sandwiches had elements that would go well together but not much care was given towards the elevation of ingredients or presentation. Perhaps their chicken tenders would be better but I wouldn't wait 20+ minutes for a soggy sandwich. read more
Ordered for pick. Once I arrived I saw it was a counter order kind of style. We told the cashier our order and he grab it for us. He offered the sauce used on the chicken. I ordered the Cali chick. I was super excited to try this place out. The chicken is seasoned well but the sandwich itself seem just tossed together. The Cali chick is suppose to have avocado on it but they were pretty stingy with it. Overall it's an ok place to grab a quick chicken sandwich. Hence the name I guess. Parking lot is spacious, they seem to be connected to a grocery store. read more

Tucked away as a part of a small Mexican grocery store with lots of parking, this unassuming fried chicken joint is a hidden gem that has left me pleasantly surprised. If you are looking for a quick spot with outrageously delicious food that won't break the bank, this is your place. I have been back multiple times for this place craving their food. It has a casual and cozy atmosphere, but note that there aren't that many tables, maybe only one or two small tables outside, so it is more of a takeout place. I tried the Hot Chick, Cali Chick, and the Side Chick. They are all very delicious. The Hot Chick was definitely more on the spicy side, so watch out for that. The fried chicken here all have golden-brown crispy exterior followed by juicy meat on the inside which is seasoned deliciously. They also have a variety of different sauces so you are bound to find something you like. This place has affordable prices with bomb food. If you're in search of the best low-key fried chicken spot that serves up addicting flavors at an unbeatable price, this is the place to be. The service here is also quick and efficient. Don't let its unassuming exterior fool you; this low-key chicken joint is a fried chicken paradise. It will satisfy all your cravings, especially those late night chicken cravings. I've had this on my "to try" list for a minute. Ordering in person was really confusing. I was not greeted for a while and was really confused about what to do. So, Ordering process needs work. I just got over Covid, so I guess I'm more aware of things like this now... There was a used Starbucks drink in the cooler with the customer drinks... no, no, hail no. I did finally get my food, well after people who came in after me. There is no system. The ultimate one star? The food prep guy, with NO GLOVES, WITH A MASK ONLY AROUND HIS MOUTH, CONTINUOUSLY TOUCHING HIS NOSE, THEN BUNS, THEN MASK, etc. I was like, well I just had Covid, and I'm triple vaxxed, but what about the people who aren't? Unacceptable! The food was strangely bland. I was unsure how to fix it. It was very sweet. Pickles were nice and crunchy, coleslaw was gummy and seemed old, not crisp. Fries were not very crispy. Limp even... So, I'm sorry, I never would come back in a million years. Horrible experience and mediocre to poor food. I really love the name, it's cute, and the whole reason I wanted to come, but I cannot support or recommend this biz. read more

I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. The employees were very accommodating to my modifications on my sandwich. The food was made fresh with about a 5 minute wait time. The chicken sandwich was flavorful and crisp. The fries were fresh cut fries and served crisp. My family enjoyed the meal. The prices were fair and I wouldn't hesitate to come again. read more
This place makes a pretty good fried chicken sandwich at a very affordable price of $5. It's their basic sandwich, but it's a good one. The fried chicken breast was well seasoned, had a good crispy crust, and the all white meat was tender. The house pickles were tasty and the coleslaw was crisp. One thing I would like to see them do is to warm up the brioche bun better. It was on the cold side and its texture would of benefited form a warm temp. Side is located right next to Manolo Farmer's Market, and they offer outside seating. They also offer a spicy variety sandwich, chicken tenders, and fries. Customer service was friendly. read more
First time here, and we came hungry, so we ordered several items on the menu. We ordered one side chick, one hot chick, two Cali chicks, one side strip, one hot strip, and side chick fries. I'm such a die-hard Chickfila fan that I hate to admit how much I loved my Cali chick sandwich. Simple menu, friendly employees, and really good food! Definitely a spot to try but chicken is just a little dry. The sauces are great. Hot Chick 4/5: Great sandwich and thick chicken breast but it was dry rather then juicy. For $5 you can't really complain though. Fries 3/5: Average fries, nothing special or great about them. Service 5/5: The guy at the register was very polite and a nice guy. Side Chick is a service counter annexed to Manolo Farmers Market near the southwestern part of the Oak Park neighborhood. The market has plenty of spaces available in the parking lot which was a benefit. The simple menu was comprised of three chicken sandwiches (aka Buns), two chicken tenders (aka Strips), and french fries (plain or loaded with chicken). The sandwiches were available as regular or spicy which included jalapenos. The third version cost $1 more because of the addition of avocado. Similarly, the tenders were offered as regular or spicy ('side' versus 'hot'). My choices were The Side Chick and a Hot Strip. The former contained a hand-dipped chicken breast with scratch-made "Bad B" sauce, coleslaw, and pickles on a brioche bun. Although it was on the sloppy side from an assembly standpoint, the chicken breast was moist with a crispy crust. For the size, quality, and cost, it was arguably as good as the product across the street from a famous national fried chicken franchise. The Hot Strip contained little heat as I did not detect much spiciness in the breading. Pickles were supposed to be served on the side, but I did not receive any. A couple of small cups of honey mustard sauce were provided though. I enjoyed the two items enough to give Side Chick a four star rating. read more
OMG! Our neighborhood has an AMAZING Chicken Sandwich worth getting off the 94 at Euclid & Federal to satisfy your taste buds! Where is this place? Right next door and part of Manolo's Market (also new and worth checking out). The sandwich has a Crispy outer coating that has a B Sauce that is spicy and has a slight sweetness.
