While planning our trip to San Diego, I searched for the best Monte Cristo sandwich. Cloud 9 Deli kept coming up in the list, and they had a turkey sandwich my wife wanted to try also, we we decided to visit. When we arrived, we were quickly and kindly greeted at the counter. We ordered our sandwiches and started the wait for our food. It started getting busy after we ordered, so there was no real room left to stand inside, so we stood outside the door with others. After waiting quite some time for our food, our name was called. We grabbed our containers and decided to sit outside at their covered patio. It wasn't the cleanest, but not bad by any means. My wife's sandwich was quite large, and more than most would be able to eat in one sitting. She said it was ok, but nothing much more than any chain sandwich shop. Before biting into my Monte Cristo, I wasn't impressed by the look, as it looked pretty basic. After biting into the sandwich, it was pretty much what I thought, mediocre. It tasted like slightly battered and deep fried bread with some meat and cheese thrown in between. Even though it was close to our hotel, we will not be going back. I would pass if you are in the neighborhood wanting a good sandwich.
Perfect corner deli! Stayed across the street and this deli was just amazing. Great sandwiches and super convenient. Friendly staff. Casual atmosphere. A couple tables inside and some patio space but more of a to-go place. 5/5 rating for the bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. Came back for the meatball sub and that delicious too. Highly recommend!
This deli was in a convenient location since we stayed at the hotel across the street. They offer a large variety of sandwiches, salads, and drinks. The service is somewhat fast but you can tell the food is of decent quality. They have limited seating inside but have additional tables outside.
Messy but delicious! I honestly Forgot which sandwich I got but it's the one with the Italian cold cut meats and it was delightful! My friend got the London something LOL I don't remember what they were called but this one was extremely saucey and both of our sandwiches were literally everywhere by the time we were done. Delicious nonetheless. Definitely recommend if you are looking to enjoy a nice lunch :)
Whoever is in the back preparing their salad wraps is an artist. I can never get my homemade wraps as tight and dense as them. Not without breaking the tortillas. It was delicious. Thank you, whomever you are!
While in the SD Gaslamp area today (6/6/26), I was looking for a good Breakfast Burrito... Alas, I stumbled on Cloud 9 Deli & ordered the "Big City Wrap" IT WAS HUGE & DELICIOUS ! Lotsa stuff (everything I want in a breakfast burrito & plenty of it!) T'was prepared fresh - when I ordered it & was way worth the wait!!! Tasty House Blend coffee completed the meal. Great vibe, swing music in the background made for a pleasant stay. I could see the foot traffic here is for a reason (many folks look to be repeat customers!). All the food comin' outta that kitchen looked amazing. The menu is straightforward & service was great! The owner was there, greeting everyone & keeping things moving along with a smile! I'll def be back to try one of them delicious lookin' Sandwiches (French Dip!!!) Ooooooooo man! Bravo Cloud 9
12/26/2025 Hubby and I were looking for a light dinner of soup or salad as we drove into San Diego in the current rain storm. We bypassed Panera and found this deli. This quaint corner little deli had indoor and outdoor seating. The employee/owner? Was so friendly welcoming us in and making sure we were comfortable to ask any questions about the menu items. Our soup and salad went out the window when we saw the "Low Carb Plate". We chose the steak option (+$4) and had broccoli and asparagus as our two vegetables. Then I chose clam chowder as our side. Hubby grabbed a pasta salad from the fridge but it was okay. Nothing as impressive as our dinner. The steak was tender, seasoned and cooked well. The asparagus and broccoli were grilled just as my hubby likes it. The clam chowder was creamy and had good flavor. There were pieces of clam, potato, and celery in each spoonful...until I ate them all. There were so many options for dinner aside from sandwiches, salads, and wraps. We thought we were going to grab a slice of cake for dessert, but we were actually full and didn't get one. Maybe we'll stop by another time this weekend. But don't sleep on this place! It was pretty busy as we sat inside to eat. People were continuously ordering and picking up take out orders. The employee/owner took the time to check in on us between customers and orders.
Great little spot next to the Padres arcade parking structure. Roughly a dozen seats with a few inside but a great outside seating area so you want people watch. The sandwich my daughter and I split ahead of the game was fantastic - everything was fresh. Service was great too - food was at our table in less than 10 mins. Really took some convincing to use their bathroom, which I was not a fan of because the floors feel permanently greasy.
Great corner location near Petco Park. The staff was friendly and the menu was very comprehensive offering any and every sandwich or salad option. I stopped in for lunch today and ordered their Turkey Club, and it did not disappoint. The sandwich included many layers and did not skim on the ingredients. The balance of flavors and textures was ideal for a sandwich with so much going on. I'll be back again and sample something else from the menu.
WOW! All the plates in saw walking into the cute deli vibe with tables and chairs both inside and out looked so delish. When I got my meal, I was delighted. It is SO DELICIOUS. The service was impeccable, offering me a great sub for an item that had run out. Great staff. Thank you!!!
Great Italian sandwich. Bread was really nice and soft. High quality meats and ingredients. The service was great. We also ordered a French dip and they forgot the au Jus but they ran down the street to catch us and deliver it to us. Such a nice guy for doing that. The seating is limited but it's nice along the street.
Opted for their protein plate. Filet mignon, broccoli and mushrooms with a side of ceazar salad. The place is particularly busy for the lunch hour. I enjoyed the plate lunch and they cooked everything perfectly. Meat and veggies not overly cooked. Deli has variety of chips, drinks, family friendly menu and indoor or outdoor seating.
Solid Sandwhich spot. It is nice and clean when you walk in. It's giving smoothie shop. A bit more elegant than your typical corner Sandwhich shop. The guy at the register was kind and patient. They have a vast menu to select from. Sandwiches, smoothies, flat breads, pastries, sides, drinks, etc. They also had a wide variety of sandwiches to choose from. At least 20-30 if I were to guess. It will be easy to find something that peaks your interest. We got the Ruben, turkey club, strawberry banana smoothie and two pieces of cheesecake. The sandwiches were standard but definitely quality. Nice, neat and not too messy. If you like a sauced up sandwich I'd definitely ask for extra condiments. The smoothie was absolutely delicious. They definitely don't add any protein (unless you ask) or weird added sugar. Naturally sweet and refreshing. The cheesecake was the real star of the show. I didn't ask if they were made in house but they sure tasted made in house (or from a local bakery.) The cheesecake was not too thick or heavy. Creamy and delicious. I will definitely come here again. If you're looking for a clean and kinda boujie Sandwhich spot this place is solid choice. read more
Happened to get some vouchers to use here from our stay at a neighboring hotel, so honestly I wasn't expecting much. We ended up stopping by three different days for different things. Every employee we interacted with was incredibly sweet and welcoming each time. This review is mainly for our Sunday breakfast experience. Cloud 9 is more than just your typical deli. They have a pretty large menu with breakfast, hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, wraps, salads, flatbreads, soups, smoothies plus cold-pressed juices. We got the Monte Cristo ($14.99), which comes with Boar's Head oven-roasted ham, Havarti cheese, mustard and mayo on egg-battered white bread. It's pan-fried then finished with powdered sugar. Service was quick. Once we got the sandwich, we were DEVOURING it. Such a good Monte Cristo. They were super generous with the ham. The havarti was perfectly melted, giving you that cheesy pull with every bite. The bread was toasted perfectly with nice crisp edges while still staying soft inside. Add that little sweetness from the powdered sugar. What more could you want from a Monte Cristo? It also comes with some maple syrup and fruit on the side. read more
Honestly, this might be my favorite breakfast burrito in San Diego. If you're team crispy tots over soggy potatoes in your breakfast burrito, this is the spot for you. The tots give it that perfect crunch and make the whole burrito way better. Could the salsa be better? Absolutely. But honestly, the burrito is still really damn good. Definitely worth trying if you're a breakfast burrito person. read more

This place is such a gem!!! They have something for everyone! We ordered a wide range of sandwiches and all of them were amazing! You never know what to expect when you visit somewhere with an extensive menu- however Cloud 9 lived up to its name as everything was so good! The service was great- the cashier helped answer questions and was really patient with my indecisiveness. The food took some time to arrive but it felt quite reasonable. There is limited seating inside but more available outside with heat lamps if you get cold. I loved this place and I'll be back for more. read more

Been coming here for a while, always a big big line, even the owner wishes another sandwich shop would open close by to make the long long lines away just a little. Extremely delicious sandwiches. You need to ask about the wait time for the B 4 order. read more

The deli offers a great selection of food. Never disappointed with the quality and taste. Con: It does take a while. During lunch or day time games, there may be a longer wait. Recommend ordering at least 30 mins in advance. Staff is very nice. Deli is at corner. read more

Sandwich was a 9/10 due to them lumping all the meat in the center, other than that it was great Took a bit long for how many people were there Friendly people Store was a bit awkward to walk in when there's a line read more
best deli in the east village. so many options here no matter what you're in the mood for. All my orders have been to-go and I highly recommend using the "toast" app to pre-order since this place gets busy during peak lunch hours. If not, you can spend up to 30mins to get your food and that just speaks to the popularity and consistency of this deli. my go to's are the turkey club sandwich and the filet sandwich. If you are hungry and looking at the best bang for your buck, the fully loaded turkey club will be your favorite. The filet sandwich is almost $20 but worth the splurge! When you pick up your order, you'll be enticed to have one of their craft hard to find anywhere else beers from the fridge or even upgrade to some creamy cheesecake. They have many cheesecakes here at the registrar as well. read more
This is definitely one of my go to sandwich shops in San Diego !! They make the best sandwiches I've ever had! It's not a big restaurant so seating is limited but that shouldn't stop you from trying them out. They use super quality ingredients and you can tell upon first bite. The service was quick and everyone was so kind and helpful. There was also a little outside seating. It's street parking and they do have limited hours. read more

Cloud 9 Deli has a huge selection of choices and so you'll probably need some time deciding on what to get. When we got there, there was a decent line, but it turns out that was just people waiting around for their order. You order on the left-side of the counter and the right-side is for pick-up (but they'll come and find you once your food is ready). It was a Padres game day so we had to wait over 20+minutes. The Godfather is their hot version of an Italian sandwich and it was really good! The toasted bread had a nice crunch and I really enjoyed the chunks of parmesan as it added a boost of more flavor. The italian dressing and meats were all great. The Filet Mignon club was also really tasty! The ciabatta was nice and soft and the meat was tender and flavorful. The peppercorn aioli was also very good. The Rachel was their pastrami sandwich and I thought it was also solid. I'm not the biggets fan of pastrami but I think between the meat and fixings, it was a well balanced sandwich. Each of the 3 sandwiches we got were great in their own ways! read more
Pros: - Huge menu of fresh sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc - Plenty of canned and bottled booze options - $5 draft beers - Friendly staff - Clean Cons: - It took 20+ minutes to get the one wrap I ordered (to be fair, they were busy) - There was a loud and sketchy homeless guy in the shop that they knew and allowed to walk around and intrude on people's meals. He chased a couple people out of the shop. It's tough, I get it, but once he starts getting in people's business you've got to boot him. Overall, good food and a great addition to the neighborhood. read more

To start, service was incredibly friendly and helpful. The space is clean and inviting, almost cheerful. With various ballads playing over their sound system including Air Supply, you can help but feel relaxed while you await your order. Set up is fast casual, order from the counter, pay, then wait for your name to be called. My order took about 15 minutes to make. While the place was mostly empty there seemed to be a steady flow of pick up and delivery orders being cranked out. So waiting in an empty restaurant, looks can be deceiving. For food, I order a chicken caesar salad wrap and a container of potato salad. The potato salad is definitely not made from scratch, well, if it is it's an awful recipe. It reminded me of the cheap store bought kind (you know, the stuff that coworker you dont like would bring to a company pot luck) with a harsh chemical after taste. My caesar wrap looked great! The exterior was slightly brown from a quick grill. Unfortunately its good looks gave way to dry fillings. The salad had next to no dressing and the chicken, while warm, tasted old. Bacon fell into the same category as the chicken, dry and off tasting, like it has been in the fridge for a few days. The upside of all of this, their pickles are delicious. While I welcome Cloud 9 to the neighborhood, Im very disappointed in the taste of the food I ordered. Hopefully when I visit again I'll be adding a 4-5 star review.
