My face must've been just as pink when I discovered it's been in business for a year and a half. My powers of observation clearly need tweaking. It struck me as a very inviting open space the moment I walked in. It appeared that both owners were here, Stephen Wade and Edwin Stoodley. Dare I say that this sort of business feels much more needed on this block of Folsom than an evening operation like a wine bar. The handcrafted baked items on the counter were certainly seductive from apricot ginger scones to tuna quiche (Photo 7). The furnishings had a retro, mid-century vibe with a large communal table to encourage personal interaction. The menu was limited. It was also quite appetizing for unrefined tastes like mine. How can you begrudge a spot that makes grilled cheese and tomato soup? I decided to try their signature $16 Avocado Toast with black bean mash and smoked chili over whole wheat sourdough (Photo 10). It was delicious though a tad overwhelming in size. I enjoyed the $6.50 Latte with rich artisan beans from Chromatic Coffee (Photo 9). I'll come back for the Breakfast Sandwich and the Fig Leaf Latte. The staff are super friendly and are the heart of what makes this place so special. The coffee is always fantastic. I always get a vanilla latte, either iced or hot, and it's always a consistently good cup. I'm also a big fan of their raspberry matcha. They have a seasonal drinks menu that features a few creative and unique styles drinks. I always stop here or walk by on my walks because even if I don't get a drink, the vibe is so uplifting. There are always people and dogs pouring out. It's truly a third space. The other day I saw two women get to chatting because one was knitting and the other stopped to introduce herself and invite her to a craft group. Just adore!!!!
