Chalk in the backyard

This place is so comfy. I loved it. I spent a lot of time outside and the inside is so cozy. The staff was so friendly and nice. The drinks are so yummy and so is the pastries. I was having a rather hard morning and this little chalk note turned my day completely around.

Dark chocolate raspberry iced mocha

Dark chocolate raspberry iced Mocha is delicious!! 10/10 A must try! Not super sweet at all which I love. Small coffee spot perfect for picking up on the go.

What a little gem to find this cafe. After the Moraga Farmer's market, we continued to find a coffee shop to complete our breakfast foraging. (We had a morning bun to eat from the FM). We had read that there weren't bakery items here but I think I did see some inside the store but it was hard to tell as we couldn't go in. I guess because of Covid but I am not sure why not because things are open with masks and it says here that all the servers are vaccinated. Maybe because there was a huge dog inside the cafe that shouldn't have been in there? I love dogs and take my dog everywhere but that is the only reason I can see why the she would not let patrons in. The menu is plentiful with a little bit of everything. We got a plain black coffee that wasn't hot enough. I got an iced oatmilk latte which was perfect. I did not take the straw. I think that it would be better not to put a drink out with a straw. See if the customer really wants one. We sat in the back patio which was very pleasant. There are SO MANY cycling guys here. I appreciated that the bathroom was open and accessible from the back patio. Parking was easy. I highly recommend this place.

This place wa a pleasant surprise on my bike ride up through Moraga to Canyon Not much from the street However, there is a hidden courtyard with fire pits and a jam band on the weekends Coffee is on the menu with lattes cappuccino etc. Very legit. Nice selection of pastries Let's keep these one off places going!

Honey Be Mine Latter Lavender and Honey flavor

It was a cold morning and sleepy me decided to tag along on yet another work errand! To my surprise we stopped by a coffee shop a little bit secluded from a Safeway plaza. The cafe space itself was cute but it was a bit on the smaller side. We came in around 9am on a Tuesday morning and customers would drizzle in in groups of 2 or 3! There was always a line while I enjoyed my honey bee mine latte which I highly recommend for those lavender and honey latte lovers! The pastries were also fresh and not too sweet! I would come back again especially because parking was quite easy!

I love spending time in the patio. I think the service is good at Sisi's but their chai tea latte didn't taste good at all .

I had been to the church before, but I didn't remember the massive coffee hangout there! It's so spacious and offers plenty of seating. How long has this place been here? I wish it were closer to where I live in San Jose! I could easily imagine sitting in one of the comfortable nooks, studying or grading papers. It's also a fantastic spot to meet up or chat with a group of friends. It was definitely a nice place for a date! When we walked in, there were hardly any available seats, but the line at the counter wasn't long. We found a quiet corner to sit and enjoyed our breakfast. I ordered a hot latte with maple syrup in the name, though I can't recall the exact name. It paired nicely with my pastry. The almond croissant I ordered was delectable, with just the right amount of sweetness and flakiness. My partner enjoyed his cappuccino and savory bacon croissant. We walked up two steps to the restroom and were surprised to find more seats and tables. I wish I had noticed that area when I was looking for a place to sit. Oh well, it was comfortable where we were. The girls should have more playdates with their cousins so we can come here more often. Is it really called a "playdate" when the kids are 12 and 15, and their cousins are between 21 and 30?

The salted maple latte was just ok... sadly it looked better than it tasted. I wasn't a huge fan of their espresso as it left a very sour after taste, even with the sweet maple syrup it wasn't very pleasant. Good espresso should be balanced and coffee forward, and I didn't get that. Almond croissant was great, but I was a bit disappointed in their coffee. Ambience is great for studying or getting some work done.

Parking was easy though, with plenty of street parking nearby. The person at the register was friendly and gave helpful tips and recommendations. While waiting, we spent time watching the co-op roasting facility in the back through the glass windows. That is what really makes this place stand out. There is indoor seating but at 11 am it was completely full! There was some outdoor seating that was open. We tried the rose latte and it was spot on. The rose flavor was subtle and well balanced, not overpowering at all and the coffee was delicious! The only downside was that there were no gluten free pastries available that day, although I have heard they sometimes offer them. Overall, great coffee, a relaxed vibe, and a unique experience that is worth checking out and we will be back!

We ordered an iced mocha and two of their pastries. I thought the coffee tasted pretty solid, it wasn't too sweet and the pastries was really good. The baristas seemed friendly, there were a lot of regulars that was able to skip the line because the barista knew their orders already (no shade!) There are plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. It's super cool that they roast their own beans in-store.

We went mainly for drinks and tried a latte, tiramisu latte, and a Spanish latte. The tiramisu latte and Spanish latte were both really good and definitely my favorites. Smooth, flavorful, and not overly sweet. You can tell the coffee quality is solid. We also tried the matcha drinks in vanilla and strawberry. I liked the strawberry matcha more. It comes unsweetened, so I asked for it to be sweetened and it was great after that. The vanilla matcha was fine too, just not my top pick. They're also dropping a new Ramadan drink soon, a date latte, which sounds really good and I'll probably come back just to try that. Overall, great drinks and a nice place to hang out.

I loved the ambiance, it felt we was in another country. The place was packed I have no idea where everyone parked haha. Very hard to find parking. The Adeni Chai I had was wonderful and I would get again. The lemon pastries I had were good & I would possibly get again. Both cheese pastries & meat pocket I didnt care for so much. I undetstand they are an acquired taste but me being Middle Eastern we have our own versions and I think that's why I didn't like as much. I would definitely go back and try more sweet pastries. They had a large selection I couldn't try them all haha. I would love to try more tea and coffee options as well. Go and try out several different pastries and discover what you like. It's cheaper than buying an airplane ticket to try another countries culture and delights. They also have outside seating which is especially nice on a beautiful day. Pro tip: take an Uber if you can. Parking is hard to get.

They combine British and Malaysian flavors, so of course we went for the Malaysia tea and sandwich flavors. For $45 per person, you get to select a pot of tea, two sandwich flavors accompanied by scones and a random assortment of desserts. For the teas, we had the Malaysian signature tea, the white chai, and the Paris Morning. Paris Morning was our favorite - a black tea with a hint of cherry. Also added on their Malaysian pulled tea which was milky, gingery, and sweet! Amongst the three of us, we ordered the southeast Asian style sardine, Malaysian style pork jerky (bak kwa), southeast style curry chicken, coconut jam (kaya) and the spicy tofu sambal. I really enjoyed the sardine and curry chicken flavors. The scones were delicious, not overly baked/dry and paired well with the clotted cream and jam. Desserts included a raspberry macaron, rose custard tart, pandan cake, lemon panna cotta, and some fresh fruit. They even threw a dollop of potato on a cracker. I initially thought it was a dessert (especially since it was pink!), but was pleasantly surprised to bite into potato (my weakness!). All of it was beautifully arrange and popped with color from the varied desserts and fruits. Overall, we had a lovely experience at Malaya Tea Room, and I would be happy to have another tea time here in the future.
