3/5 I like the final product the consultation call went great the design was great but my god they gave me a massive headache when it came to suggesting contractors with the holiday season right around the corner I just needed to decide on 1 contractor they flooded me with multiple suggestions and confused the heck out of me I am still undecided on a contractor and extremely disappointed they could not recommend 1 good contractor! :( Updatez: Maria reached out to me on the 24th we got everything sorted out before Christmas I was busy but I am happy they got me a good contractor and I am changing from 3 to 4 thank you for everything Happy Holidays! read more

I've recently gotten my plans back after being upsold and having to constantly ask when they would be done (they were 10 days late). After I wrote a thorough report of my needs and wants, uploaded a ton of photos and gave measurements, the plans weren't even for the correct area of my yard. I'm trying to get a refund but you can't reach anyone!!! This is the most maddening experience ever. I don't actually think this is a company but more of a scam. read more

Don't waste your money on this service. The plans they give you are very difficult to read. The legend is just a bunch of pictures and many look similar, the plan has pictures as well that overlap so you can't figure it out. There is no information on spacing of the plants for planting. Many of the plants they chose for my home are not the plants for my area. They placed plants with different water needs next to each other. The lighting was generic with very little detail. The process was also not the best experience. I can go on and on. read more

I strongly advise others to be cautious when dealing with ShrubHub. Although they advertise a 30-day money-back guarantee, my experience was quite the opposite. After initially intending to spend around $300, I was repeatedly upsold into additional packages--ultimately spending close to $2,000 without ever receiving a completed design or even a sketch. As my 30-day window was approaching with no communication or deliverables from their team, I requested a refund. I was told I was no longer eligible because "work had begun," yet no substantial proof or design was ever provided. The only so-called "proof of work" they eventually sent was an extremely vague and blurry image that lacked any identifiable design elements--it looked more like a placeholder than an actual concept. See attachment. When I questioned the partial refund offer, it was unclear how they calculated it or why I would only be eligible for a fraction back when nothing was ever received. Unfortunately, this has been one of the most frustrating and regrettable service experiences I've had. Proceed with caution. read more

ShrubHub - Their proof of work - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me

I am very frustrated with ShrubHub, it operates as a bait and switch. I did my part, measured the yard and submitted all photos, set up a consult call and immediately was told my yard was too big for the package I selected. I requested a refund with my "project manager" instead of moving forward and was told I could receive a call 24-48 hrs later from a manager. It's been 3 days and I have yet to receive contact despite reaching out via their chat feature. Their website states many times "30-Day Money-Back Guarantee" it shouldn't be so hard to receive communication or request a refund. If there are limits to the pre-packaged packages that should be disclosed ahead of collecting payment. read more

I wouldn't even give a 1! I wish I had read the negative reviews (which are very unlike the 5 star ratings). I uploaded the same pics to ChatGPT and got a better and complete design w/an AI pic in 5 minutes for FREE vs the one I paid several hundreds for. They only used the few hydrangea and hosta suggestions that I gave them as a border around the whole yard. They suggested I plant 5 gallon hydrangeas around the base of an existing Maple. I sent an email asking whether that would kill the roots (it would) and got no response to the question - despite paying extra for the ability to make revisions. No cut flowers, as I requested. The yard is a perfect rectangle; the "design" came back with an 8 foot bed on one side and a 10ft bed on the other. I am so disappointed! Don;t waste your money. read more

This company is a total waste of time! ZERO, I am aware repeat, ZERo talent The design was so basic of course when I asked for that refund, if you are not happy, I was slapped with the Ohhhhhhh, we gave you a design so you lose 60% of what you paid. That was just the beginning. Complete scammers and impossible to reach. I had to go to PayPal and file a complaint.. they did return approximately 15% of what was promised then they went off the grid so now I have to go to Wells Fargo back to PayPal to try to get the 40% they promised. All I can tell you is try another company as these guys are useless. read more

STAY AWAY. I requested a refund and they told me I would not get a refund because a rendering was already provided. How would anyone know if they are happy with the service before even receiving the service? Are you supposed to rate your satisfaction on using the website alone and not seeing the design? Aren't you paying for the design? This company is ridiculous. Helen Wilson did not follow any of our requests. She put a gate on our driveway closing off the entire house. How does a car get into a garage that is fenced off? Our requests were not followed. She placed large maple trees against a wall that would eventually cause root and wall issues. I purchased a design package with the revision upgrade from ShrubHub on February 26. I waited 19 days before receiving my first design on March 17. The design did not match what I asked for. I immediately began submitting revision requests almost every day. I received zero responses from my project manager Sean. After 7 days of silence I emailed ShrubHub directly. They blamed "technical issues" and promised an immediate follow-up. That never happened. I then requested a full refund. No response. I have called multiple times and no one picks up. Their website advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee and "100% satisfaction." I received one unusable design, zero revisions and zero communication. I paid for a service that was never delivered. I would not recommend ShrubHub to anyone. read more

I've been searching for a quality landscaping company for our new home's expansive yard and Shrub Hub came highly recommended to me by a close friend. I really wanted to transform the yard and create a peaceful sanctuary for the summertime. ShrubHub listened to all of my needs and ideas for the grounds and offered expert advice on what shrubbery would work best, factoring in the climate, aesthetics, and maintenance. I'm in love with my outdoor space and can't wait to have friends over for years to come! The team was ultra professional, on time, and so helpful. read more

I saw a $299 promotion for ShrubHub.com and so I decided to sign up for it when they offered me an additional 10% discount. They were supposed to provide a dream design of my front and back yard based on input that I provided them in a 30 minute call. They wanted me to take pictures of the front and back yard and initially they said I didn't provide enough, but eventually all of that was sorted out. I also signed up for a 30 day revision package which was $70. It took several weeks for my project manager Alessandra to come up with a design. Initially she wanted to charge more money saying my lot was too big and that it would take too much time to design, but then she backed down. The design that she provided didn't look like much effort was put into creating something new, exciting and modern. The reality was that the initial design was an exact copy of my house with a few plants and 2 patio covers. When I wanted to make a revision, it took them a full week to get back to me with the update, which usually was very minor. So really you only have time to do 4 revisions max in that 30 days. And on the last revision she didn't even provide a link to the new update or contractors that could do the design which is something that ShurbHub said they would provide. I sent follow up emails to Alessandra and ShrubHub but didn't hear back from either of them. Overall I was very disappointed with the lack of professionalism, response time, and design capabilities of this company. read more

I've been wanting to turn my dirt-lot of a backyard into my dream outdoor space, but I didn't know where to start. I've spoken with landscape architects before and just a consultation is so expensive. My friend told me about Shrub Hub and the price seemed like a steal if I could walk away with designs I was happy with. I uploaded a video of my yard to show ShrubHub everything I was hoping for, all my concerns, etc. Then I added a bunch of inspiration photos and had a phone call with Alex, who seemed really professional and asked all the right questions. I just got the designs back last week and was so impressed by the quality of work! Every angle of the backyard is beautifully captured in detailed 3D renderings, plus a map with specific measurements. This was SO much more efficient and affordable than hiring a landscape architect. One of the best decision we made prior to investing in our yard. The process was seamless and flawless. we were fortunate enough to be assigned to Sean Logan and what a great pleasure was to work with him from start to finish. He was extremely knowledgeable and easy to understand. I was a little hesitant at first, as I know how picky my wife can be, however he definitely Impress both of us and presented an amazing design. Perfect design for our intimate yard. Will definitely be referring him and the company moving forward. Thanks again. read more

Unfortunately a bit of a scam. I ordered for them to do my backyard and front yard. Paid for the service upfront with the cost they provided on their site. You have to do all the work as far as measurements, videos and photos to send them your yard. I did all this, sent to them, which took a very long time. Then I set up my appointment to discuss the project and they wanted to charge an additional $600 on top of what was advertised because they said my yard was bigger than what they "allow". My yard is less than half an acre. There was nothing on their site to clarify what size your yard had to be for the cost of the service. read more

So, I thought when I saw this ad that we would be able to use it when we were ready to actually start the project. Well, our project got delayed, due to financial reasons. I later reached out to schedule my call and couldn't schedule any longer. Guess what, it expires after one year. My $400 GONE! I never saw that fine print anywhere. They kept pummeling my social media so I decided I would give them another go. I should have learned the first time around. It took forever (a month) to be able to schedule a design consultation, and then a month to get it back. I uploaded my dimensions, photos, videos, and 7 really good inspiration photos. Well after a month later, I just received the design. And it looked nothing like my inspiration photos, and the designer did not listen well, put things in the wrong places. I feel I could have designed something better from a landscape design software package for the $800 plus price tag I paid at Shrub hub. Don't waste your money. The software they use is not impressive. Any reputable nursery company will come out and consult on plants with you. Ugh :( Just lost over $800 now. read more

100% satisfied. From the jump, my designer, Kevin, listened to and understood exactly what I was looking for. As well, my plant consultation with Lola was equally exceptional. The entire experience has been nothing but a joy. Highly recommend! read more

I had a pretty terrible experience. The original design took too long, didn't match the specs that we discussed in the design brief (for example, I asked for ground cover and the design had all hardscape). I had to spend hours meticulously typing out notes to get so many aspects of the design corrected, despite having submitted a detailed drawing of the existing conditions. The company forced me to buy a revisions package which they told me had expired by the time they had finally gotten the design to match my original requirements from my intake call. And the final design is nothing like what I wanted. Over two months to complete. An expensive waste of time, tbh. Was it cheap? Yes. Was it good? Not even a little. Did it feel scammy? Yes. Would I recommend? Absolutely not. read more

If you have a large project stay away. I went through three project managers (the project managers give direction to the designers; this is probably the root of the problem). The first project manager quit before I received my first drawing. My first drawing only contained half what was requested. The second project manager wanted to cut the conversation short before we could finish our plan discussion. Designers under his "leadership" took out a view fence and substituted it was a tall block wall, blocking the view, when I requested a small planter be situated in front of the view fence. The designers took out a connector the drive. I never requested this. I asked the project manager to call me regard this and other errors. No return call; no return messages. He then left and I was assigned Bethany. Bethany was much more professional and communicated that if want to speak to her I needed to set up an appointment. Finally, some communication how to get them to listen to me. I tried to work with her, but it became clear the designers were not following her directions either. Lesson, if you have a small simple project, may be a remote service like Shrub Hub might for you. But if you have a larger or a complicated project, do not use Shrub Hub. You might do better with a service, you can either speak directly to a designer or one that comes out to the house. Otherwise you are going to be very aggravated. I was. read more

We needed a landscape design for our tropical backyard oasis - but did not want to spend the money on a full blown local landscape designer. Although we were skeptical of this online service, we decided to give it a try. The result was much better than expected! Our designer was Steve Maximilian and his team. He was extremely responsive and took all our requests into consideration in his design. The final plan was very useful as we prepared our new backyard. Love the design/layout OVERALL, I am pleased with the 1st design/layout Nancy provided. She was able to capture everything on our list of requirements and really thought outside the box in terms of having it flow, and the design was completed quicker than expected. I did notice some privacy trees were not included at the fence line and Nancy immediately noted she'd make the edits, along with a couple more suggestions. So happy I got to work with Nancy and she understood our vision. I'm currently waiting to see what the final touches look like (will update review once done), but so far, I'm pleasantly surprised at how seamless the design process has been, despite the initial shock that the promotion I selected did not include the entire backyard. Nonetheless, Nancy made sure to include everything I was looking for (site layout was a huge requirement) and she provided more value than I had expected. I'm looking forward to getting the backyard in completed to enjoy this space! Thank you Nancy and Shrubhub for creating a space for my family to grow into. read more

Like others we were skeptical about working with Shrubhub, however for $300 or so I was willing to take the risk since we were dealing with a 3,000 square foot yard and not a national monument in Paris. Our Program Manager (PM) was Steve Maximillian and he set up an initial consultation. From the outset he was professional, prompt and focused. His questions were right on as he led us through the design phase requirements. He informed us that the design would take at least 3 weeks. During the three weeks you won't see any back and forth emails or anything like that until the initial design is ready for you to review. For anyone reading this, the key to your design is to give the designers enough to work with - they can't work in a vacuum, so cut them some slack because they're not mind readers. Provide correct measurements, send them a copy of the property survey, provide plenty of photo's on important features and take photos from every angle of your property. When you sit down via phone with your consultant/PM go over all "wants and needs" make sure you provide a budget amount that you're shooting for. There's a big difference in what the designers can place into your design if you have a $500 budget or a $500,000 budget. Steve provided our initial design in less than 3 weeks. It was very nice, and we requested changes to the design. Steve came back within a couple of days with an updated design and I must say that we were impressed. Everything is laid out, the plants they recommend are spelled out in terms of where they go and quantity needed. Based on our experience I highly recommend them and can't say enough about how professional Steve was in working with us. Thank you Steve! read more

I'm trying to get a refund now. USELESS and time wasting. Useless because after hours of preparation and uploading pictures and describing what I wanted help with (figuring out paths from parking and a large tree to the door and garden) they said they needed a bigger upgrade ($) to work on the project. Most of the "consultation" was Eve saying how excited she was and all the service upgrades to consider. There was a"miscommunication" - I'm being kind, because I said I just wanted to see the basic $337 design service first, before deciding if I needed the higher resolution plans. After waiting a month, I reached out to them; she said she was waiting for me to decide on the upgrades. So, I wrote clearly again that I didn't. Then she emailed, saying that the team said I needed to add-on more services because I had a big yard (yes, but I wasn't asking for help with it, just the paths). I said I wanted a refund; without any attempt to provide what I wanted, she said she'd send the request to a manager. The good news is that I dedicated time to thinking and gathering ideas. Now I'm ready to use a professional locally or figure it out myself. I read that a blogger had to wait months and argue for a full refund... read more

Well I am going to be really honest and transparent here. I had doubts about their ability to do what we needed. My wife and I are spending $150,000 on a backyard redo. This is a dream for us, and we have numerous contractors awaiting specific instructions to begin. Our initial call was a little difficult to understand the representative, but once we got past that, things went well. He told us we had loaded more than enough drawings and examples to really get an awesome drawing! We were very excited! Finally our design arrived. I was very excited to work with Shrub Hub for some designs on my backyard. I spent hours measuring and taking photos for them, even providing more than they asked for. I paid extra to obtain multiple revisions, based on what I'd read online about their not so helpful designers. I was bamboozled. The first plans I obtained didn't even look like my own yard, and I had to have them fix some pretty obvious things. Most of the plants they included were not even viable in my zone 7a climate. I cross referenced the plant list they sent and over 50% were not going to survive in Utah. I sent DETAILED feedback, point by point, on what I needed to see. The second round had random planter boxes in places (I didn't even ask for planter boxes), more plants that won't survive in Utah, and a ton of other odd changes I never asked for. I requested a phone call to be sure I was communicating with them. The third version literally had a cement planter box replacing my fence, in front of the garage, effectively making it impossible to park in my garage. I really tried to be patient and give them opportunities to fix the designs and each time it got worse. Now they're saying "you are past 30 days, no refund". I went past 30 days because I had to keep getting revisions done! This place is a scam. Celeste, the employee I was assigned to deal with my refund, was not helpful or kind.
